KE fic that I read and I liked

it feels silly to call this a “Killing Eve Fic Rec List”. I am like, the worst person to ask for recommendations because I truly read so little fanfic. I read far less than I write. I’m the worst. I know. But people still ask me for recommendations all the time, so I figured I’d gather the relatively short list of fics I can heartily recommend in one place. [will continue to update as i read more]

Disclaimer: once again, I don’t read much fic. If a story is not on here that doesn’t mean I don’t like it, it probably means I’ve never gotten to it.

Second disclaimer: if you want more recs check out other works from any of the authors of these fics. I don’t always have time to go through all of someone’s work, but typically if they’ve written one good fic, they’ve written more!

Gonna sort this by COMPLETED MULTICHAPTERS first, then ONESHOTS, then WIPs that I’m currently following at the bottom.

Two years post-s2, Eve discovers Villanelle hiding out as a waitress in Delaware, except, she has lost all of her memories. Eve investigates her, but also gets to know her again? A trope I’d never seen before in the fandom, but with a tone close to the show itself.

DOWN, DOWN, UNDER THE EARTH GOES ANOTHER LOVER by Vaultdweller - 90k words - Rated M

This is one of my all-time favorites. I call it a parallel-universe version of Season 1. Imagine Killing Eve, but there’s no Niko, Villanelle’s sent to kill Eve herself from the start, and Eve is also much more competent and dangerous right off the bat. Beautifully written with tons of excitement, and all villaneve all the time. There is also a sequel currently in progress.

EVERY ROSE by Fixy - 104k words - Rated E

Eve is a tattoo artist and Villanelle owns a flower shop next door. They are in a nasty prank war. Slow burn, Enemies to Friends to Lovers. The premise sounds odd at first but it fits better than I ever could’ve expected. The belligerent sexual tension is delicious, the softness is delicious, the smut is delicious.

Eve is a photographer and Villanelle is a model. Sexual tension, banter, and some great smut.

OH BABY, IT’S PLEASURE, THIS PAIN - series by killingsaray - rated VERY E

This series is technically not finished, but the first three parts (Watch Me, Feel Me, Taste Me) are all complete so it still makes for substantial reading. Also known as the Daddy!Villanelle series. It’s real dirty smut. But it’s good. Starts out as PWP but then a plot appears when you least expect it :)

QUID PRO QUO by Fixy - 128k words - Rated E

Eve seeks divorce from asshole!Niko and Villanelle is her lawyer. Honestly the divorce plot is not my fav thing but the quality of the romance more than makes up for it. Forbidden love, but hoo boy the love is strong. Slow burn, but when it gets there it GETS THERE. +1 for including Eve’s vampire kink :)

A RIPENING OF SORTS by creampuffs - 30k words - not rated

This is the first villaneve fic I ever read, and the first one that made me actually, maybe believe they could be in a stable relationship of any kind. It’s post season 2, Villanelle tending to Eve while she recovers from her wound. It’s kind of domestic fluff, but also heavily deals with the trauma that Eve experienced from 2x08 and everything leading up to it. Altogether, lovely.

canonverse, set somewhere in s2 - Eve tries to get to know Villanelle a little better; Villanelle tries to let her... featuring some fuck you to the gender binary, and also a fuck you to the psychopath checklist.

this is one of the coolest fics I’ve ever read: it’s written in the form of various online articles/social media exchanges, and tells how the Twelve get brought down post-season 3. Honestly, handles the Twelve plot better than the show does. Technically a gen fic but there’s a bit of Villaneve in there if you look close :)

DO NOT GO GENTLE by olderthaneve - 3.5k words - not rated

Eve’s perspective in the s2 finale after the shot, as she dies. Yes, this is an alternate version where she DOES die. But it’s poetic and philosophical and very beautiful.

INFANCY by LaFlashdrive - 11k words - rated E

it’s a baby fic but as fucked up as villaneve deserve. Eve gets pregnant while still married to Niko and shrugs and decides to keep it. Villanelle appears and turns out to be a better parent than either Eve or Niko. But she’s still Villanelle. It’s heartwarming and horrifying at the same time, but it’s one of the only scenarios of Eve and V with a baby that I can buy.
