SUNSHINE PLS FOR REASONS

okay so this is gonna be long so under the cut and also imma just check the f1 ones bcs reasons xD

redredred has 9 (!!!) sunshines and they are:

He smiles, and laughs, and talks to everyone who comes to talk to him. His voice is hoarse, and he is tired, and he is happy, and he wishes it was daylight so he could see the sunshine for a moment. Not now, he thinks. The phone in his pocket vibrates, and vibrates, and vibrates. He doesn’t bother checking it; there is nothing he wants to see there.

Kimi’s laughter through the phone is the best sound Seb has heard in a long while. It makes his eyes water and his heart soar with affection, and for the first time maybe ever, there is nothing that Sebastian would change about their relationship, nothing more he wishes for. Sunshine peeks through the curtains of his window, and he smiles at it.

He is almost late for the post-race press conference. Silvia isn’t happy with him, but he can’t be bothered to care. He keeps smiling under his mask, grateful for the covid rules still in place, otherwise he’d just look like a fool. And if he drifts off in his mind a bit, thinking about the sunshine bound to wait for him in Australia, well. He’s charming enough to get away with it.

He exits the airport into the Melbourne sunshine, squinting behind his sunglasses for a taxi, when a yell of “Horatio! Horatio Harridan! Over here!” Sebastian is so surprised, he almost drops his luggage. He takes off his glasses and squints at the loud man waving very conspicuously, dressed in a gray hoodie and a black baseball cap, leaning against the door of a pick up truck, smiling widely, white teeth on display.

“Let’s get this show on the road,” Danny says as he moves away, and Seb can’t help but grin back fully, feeling just a little more optimistic about life. Then again, Danny was so full of it, it was difficult not to be infected with that sunshine disposition and devil-may-care attitude. Maybe I need some more of that in my life, he thinks as he settles into the passenger seat and starts bickering with Danny about the music. Maybe I just need a little more sunshine.

“It’s a good point to bring up in the meeting, maybe we need those black visors,” Carlos says, and Silvia acquiesces thoughtfully as she enters the rooms. Before they separate to go to their designated places into the meeting, Carlos leans in and whispers “You think about sunshine, huh,” with a knowing smile.  “Fuck off,” Charles whispers and goes to find his seat to the sound of Carlos’ booming laughter.

He wins the race. When he climbs the podium and raises the wheel trophy, the sun's reflection in it blinds him. He smiles at the sky and remembers. He wins the race, and when he wins the race, he feels that the sunshine is just for him, and him only.

Sebastian smells like sweat and something alcoholic, probably champagne, and that undercurrent of fuel and concrete and metal, dangerous and familiar, like Jules does, like the racetrack does, and he holds Charles close and whispers “Merci, Charles,” and Charles knows he’s blushing again, but he just says “Avec plaisir, Seb,” and then they separate and Sebastian is hugging Lorenzo and Jules too, and they’re talking about something but all Charles can think of is how this is the best birthday he’s ever had and the best day of his life and how he can’t wait to tell Pierre all about it. 

“Bye, Charles,” Sebastian says, turning to leave.

“Bye, Seb,” Charles waves, and closes his eyes, and smiles at the little ray of sunshine that manages to pierce the clouds and caress his face.

“No, I don’t think so. Most of them are older than me, and none of them are into racing. I do want to invite Pierre.” Lorenzo snorts.

“I think that’s a given,” he says, but it’s not mean. He looks - relieved. 

“Yes, well. Pierre, and maybe Este and Anthoine, because I haven’t seen them in a long time.” He turns to Arthur. “And if you want to invite some of your friends from karting, you can.”

Arthur’s smile is as bright as sunshine, and it makes Charles’ heart warm.

“What about Jules and I? Are we not good enough to go karting with you?”

Charles rolls his eyes at Lorenzo.

“I think that’s a given,” he says in an accurate imitation of Lorenzo’s words from before, and everyone laughs.

“I don’t only tell Jules things,” Charles says indignantly. Lorenzo snorts, then giggles, and Charles giggles with him, because yeah, that’s fair. 

“Well, he is my best friend, and I am your older brother, which honestly, may be a point for or against you telling me whatever is bothering you, but if I can, I would very much like to help,” Enzo says calmly. He’s licked a perfect shape of his ice-cream, and there isn’t a speck of dirt anywhere on him. Charles knows half of his ice-cream is going to end up either in the water, or somewhere on him.

The sea is stormy today, due to the rain from before, but there is some sunshine peeking out from the clouds. Charles hopes it stays, against all odds.

5. grace - i don’t spend too much time thinking about skam austin even though i miss it sometimes, but whenever my mind goes there i can’t help thinking about the confrontation scene between grace and daniel and how HURT grace was by what he said about kelsey. it’s part of the reason i will never truly be able to get into graciel as a couple. she’s a fierce feminist lesbian and i love her for that.

4. nora - a smol bean, an angel, deserves the world and a loving girlfriend. i don’t even know if i ship her with eva or viri more tbh but it’s always one of them. 

3. noora - OG LESBIAN SHE SHOULD’VE BEEN A LESBIAN I DON’T FKN CARE! she’s gay and she’s dating eva in my personal skam universe. the level of heart eyes between nooreva... the level of queerbaiting... almost unmatched.

And there she was, waiting outside Mdm Bechard’s office, panic setting in.

R [over the phone] : “Because you’re there to gain back your honor and crush the bastards, like the super star you are. Now, I wanna hear you say it. Who are you?!”

C: “ Do I really have to...? Fine… I'm CherryPopz…*sigh* …conceptual artist extraordinaire…”

R: “Great! And how are you gonna go in there?!”

100 Memorable Skating Programs - 81-85

I've been working on this list for the past couple of years. It started out as my top ten favorite programs, but as a fan of over twenty-four years who has seen hundreds of skating programs over the years, ten didn't seem quite enough, so I bumped it to twenty-five. That twenty-five then expanded to fifty, then to a hundred. Um...oops?

Anyway, some rules I kept in mind while making this list:

1) Only senior-level competitive programs from the 1993-1994 season and later are eligible. Yes, there are a few amazing programs from before then that I love as well, but I wanted to stick to the years that I was actively a fan.

2) Each skater only gets mentioned once on the list, unless there's a partner switch involved. (Hey, Aljona!) I could probably fill this list alone with my favorite Wagner/P. Chan/Weaver Poje/Davis White/Asada/Takahashi/Browning/Anissina Peizerat programs, but variety is the spice of life.

3) Choice of music is also not repeated, either! Y'all don't need a list of fifty amazing "Phantom of the Opera" programs, do y'all? ... I didn't think so.

By the way, this list is mostly about the programs themselves, which is why I've tried to note the choreographers whenever possible. If there are any mistakes or you happen know the name of a choreographer I'm missing, I would love to know!

81. Stephane Lambiel "Poeta" (Antonio Najarro) 2007 Worlds - I think Stephane is a beautiful skater, but for some reason, I wasn't a huge fan of his competitive programs. This one, though, is an exception! It's sharp, elegant, and passionate, and thanks to choreography by noted flamenco dancer Antonio Najarro, it feels really authentic as well. Definitely one of the best flamenco programs on ice!

82. Florent Amodio "Broken/Apologize/Imma Be/Smooth Criminal/Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" (Nikolai Morozov) 2011 Europeans - Hey, did you know that Javier Fernandez wasn't always the European champion? Back in 2011, he wasn't even on the podium, and Florent Amodio won with this awesome program. Some fuddy-duddies might say that he didn't so much skate, but dance in place most of the time -- and there's definitely merit to that criticism -- but when the dancing is so good, who cares? The audience didn't; you could barely even hear the music over their cheers!

83. Natalia Kaliszek/Maksym Spodyriev "Dirty Dancing" (Sylwia Nowak-Trebacka) 2017 Europeans - This free dance was just plain fun and a nice change of pace from all the lyrical dances that everybody else seemed to be doing the 2016-2017 season. They really felt like the characters from the movie, dancing on ice, and it always made me smile. So cute!

84. Tanith Belbin/Benjamin Agosto "Heartbreak Hotel/Hound Dog/Jailhouse Rock/Teddy Bear" (Igor Shpilband) 2003 Worlds - Elvis programs are very hit or miss with me, but this one was definitely a hit! Yes, they were young and a little rough around the edges, maybe even a bit frantic at times. Still, they danced the heck out of this free dance, and it was a blast!

85. Kevin Aymoz "Wicked Game" (John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana) 2017 Internationaux de France - I have my fingers crossed that one day Kevin Aymoz learns how to jump, because everything else about his skating is great. Even when he's messing up jumps all over the place, you can't take your eyes off of him because everything he does in between the jumps is just so interesting. In this particular program, I love that he does a spin with illusions. You don't really see men doing that, like, ever. The footwork section is wonderful as well, reminding me a bit of Jason Brown. If only he could jump...

After Silvia got acquainted with her magical bird that gave her powers, she was interested in sword fighting. Bff is a teacher/instructor at this place where ppl learn how to use swords.

Silvia is looking over a wall to see a class in progress. She doesn’t know that what she was doing isn’t allowed. Bff calls out to her and tells her to sign up for a class or leave. Silvia says she just wants to watch. Bff tells her that watching is stealing a free lesson. After this they start arguing.

Silvia and her bird conclude that bff is a jerk and try to learn how to use a sword by themselves. One day Silvia goes back to that sword school after hours to sneak in. Bff catches her and threatens to call the authorities. Then she shows him that she has a bird. At first he doesn’t believe her and says that she just has a regular bird. Then the bird talks—which freaks bff out— and tells him that they really need to learn how to use a sword.

Bff says he’ll help them but not for free. They agree to have lessons when the schools closed bc having a magical bird was illegal. Sometime later on idk when, Silvia tells bff that she wants to [remove the king and queen from their throne? stop the abuse of power? save the world???]. Bff calls her crazy but then asks to accompany her on her journey.

Along the way they become closer and become real besties. But then they also fight a lot. I wrote more than i thought I would oops

It's still very warm, but not too hot. The weather app I use says it'll be around 19° at 3 am, so I guess I'll be able to sleep. At least it's colder than the nights before, and it's supposed to get colder over the next couple of days.

My best friend (the girl, let's call her... Sophie) has a doctor's appointment today, so she couldn't answer me until now.

I had the day for myself. I was writing in my diary a lot, just going through the people that are dropping out of my class or out of my school completely, the ones that are new, etc. There's no big difference, but we will have a new student. How about we refer to him as Justin for now? As I said, he'll be a new ''member'' of my class, and I really hope he's a nice dude. All of the other guys are just such imbiciles at times. Most of them hate me, some just can't stand me, and there may be a few that kinda like me, but wouldn't talk to me alone. So my hopes are high that he's actually someone reasonable. We'll also get new teachers. Nice ones, hopefully. Maybe I'll get back my old french teacher; he was way better at teaching than the one we have now is. Or had before vacation started. I also dislike my German and Math teachers a lot. They are both pretty annoying, and don't give a floop if you need help or not. Ok about 3 weeks ago I was rear ended while my car was stopped on the freeway. The guy hit me doing about 30mph. I have had back and neck problems ever since. I have been seeing a chiroprator on a weekly basis. Also it was a hit and run but I was able to get his license plate number. I live in California. Ok so his insurance company called me trying to settle for 1000 plus my medical expenses. The problem is I don't now what my conditions will be like in the future. Also how many times will his insurance call me and change the offer?

R:  “Yeah, I’ve been over a couple of times after leaving yours. Mostly to have tea with Grandma Silvia…. and while yes, she’s been teaching me tips and tricks to navigate the upper circles, just like you have, well… we’ve been talking about my mother mostly. It’s been refreshing to get to know this other side of her, back when she was also a teenage rebel and a bit of a mess… I totally get why she did what she did, and how she ended up where she’s now…”

N: “...are you planning to take the opportunities that your mother wasted? Because being a Physallis could offer you SO many opportunities, both within the political sphere and the business circles… not that I wouldn’t encourage you to join your family’s trade… but, you know, at this point I don’t think I could survive at work without you…”

R:  “Awww… of course you would… you were doing so good before me… and yes, now you are doing amazing with me, and one day Imma be giving you a run for your money competing for the top spots and it’s gonna be everybody for themselves buddy hahaha... but don’t worry, I ain’t leaving ya, just yet. I’m really liking what we are building together. 

In what refers to my mum…. I wouldn’t say she wasted the opportunities. What most people don’t understand, is mum has a whole other paradigm. She didn’t want to be queen where she would have competition or rules or limits to her imagination, so she chose her battles and became queen of her lab, where she does as she pleases, nobody puts a cap on what she can achieve, her minions do exactly as they’re told and, most importantly, people fear her and respect her. If anything, I admire her more now, for sticking to her guts and what she’s good at, doing it HER way….”
