This political commitment is not based on the specific histories of racialized communities or its constituent members, but rather constructs an agenda agreed upon by all who are a part of it. In my opinion, the most exciting potential of women of color formations resides in the possibility of politicizing this identity – basing the identity on politics rather than the politics on identity.

Two refugees from South Sudan struggle to adjust to their new life in an English town that has an evil lurking not too far beneath the surface.

The film start strongly, giving much food for thought in its topical themes and, no doubt, realities. Delivering a slow-burn of building horror, tension and conflict which it then can't resolve without treading a more well worn path than it had until it's denouement. 

Still, a strong horror which dares to tackle real social issues rather than just going for cheap tacky scares.

Many die to live here; many would die to live here, and the worst part in all of this; the children are travelling alone. #American journalist, Sonia Nazario spoke today at Mount San Antonio College about her book, "Enrique's Journey," a Honduran boy looking for his mother eleven years after she left her family to find work in the U.S. She talked about #big #data analysis she used to write the story, and it hit home, my mother was deported three times from #Mexico back to #Guatemala by Mexican immigration, which is a public service, not a law enforcing organization.
In 2016, over 200,000 #central #americans were detained at the U.S. border.
"Out of an abundance of caution," the U.S. Department of Health and #Human Services (HHS) expanded their faculty to admit unaccompanied #children (UAC). The Refugee #Resettlement program added over 500 extra beds; reason being that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the HHS both recorded an increase of UAC and family menage's being arrested adjacent to the southwest border.
In 2014 Obama approved $750 million in aid for Central America after more than 68,000 UAC were detained. Majority of the children came from El #Salvador, #Guatemala and #Honduras. #Savethechildren #Trainbandits #Family #ImmigrationIssues #DemoTHEWALL

After 16 years of providing nearly 200,000 people from El Salvador with permits to live and work in the US their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has expired and will not be renewed by President Trump. Salvadorians now have until September 9th, 2019 to leave the country or find a legal way to remain in the US. The TPS was granted to people from El Salvador in March 2001 after a series of earthquakes rocked the Central American Country, but the original conditions caused by the 2001 earthquakes no longer exist and people can return to their country despite the Salvadorean government lobbying the US to extend protections for people from their country living in the US.
