anti-sheith fans love to be like 'you can't ship them they're Brothers! they're related! it's Platonic! look at my Platonic Brotherly Art of them!' and then post some shit that would get shiro put on a watchlist in real life

like. jesus. most sheith stuff I've seen ignores or downplays any of the 'brotherly" stuff, and the age gap, and focuses on other parts of the dynamic. which is fair enough because very little of what compels people about sheith has to do with incest or lack thereof.

people in the other side of the fandom tend to go hard on the broganes side of it. which is fine, I get it, if you're uncomfortable with the shipping bit good to get that clearly marked. or if you prefer exploring their dynamic through that lens awesome

but there's this. specific demographic of """""broganes""""" art where its like look :) they're being Platonic Brothers :) and then posting shit that is straight up fucking grooming. specifically this shit of shiro being. very touchy to an underage keith

and its so fucking rancid for what it implies about shiro as a character. like this isn't. shiro falling in love with an adult who's younger than him, or being physically close with an adult who's the same age as him

it's shiro, an adult in the garrison, singling out this orphaned child and like. sharing a bed with him, being very emotionally intimate with him. at the very fucking least it implies a man who flagrantly disregards child safety laws. if not so much worse. and I do not like having those implications about one of my favourite characters casually presented in a cutesy piece of fanart

'well how can you like romantic sheith at all then?' I like shiro, as an adult, being in gentle caring love with another adult that he has been through a lot of difficult shit with. I like platonic sheith where they're just very close. hell you absolutely can sell me on your interpretation of brotherly sheith. I do not like 'platonic' 'brotherly' sheith where shiro is implied to be preying on a young teen. if you don't understand the difference that's on you

Casual reminder that official artwork that is used in promotional material is different from fanart made by people working on the series. And neither of the two mean anything in relation to canon. Soukoku, shin soukoku, fyolai etc art made by the people working on the series in any capacity is meant to be gushed at by the shippers, it isn't evidence that the ship is canon within the actual storyline. Similarly just because voltron staff made fun little pieces using popular ships they enjoyed doesn't mean those pairings were going to be canon endgame couples. The only reason the sheith art is relevant to discourse is because it proved that sheith was not a problematic ship when even the showrunners were literally out here confirming that they can be shipped with enthusiasm. The kl art is irrelevant to the discourse because nobody argued they couldn't be shipped, instead most people used it as some kind of evidence that they were going to he canon. I still see people push kl art as evidence calling it "canon" and I'm pretty sure they are the same people in the bsd fandom who genuinely and unironically believe that skk and sskk official art is evidence of the pairs being implied. Don't do that. You're only tricking yourself into seeing something that very well might not be there.
