My hometown lost a local legend today

Imro van Hetten (67) from Suriname pursued a career in Thai boxing in the 70s, fought and the Netherlands where he owned the champion title of Noord Holland. He then went on to pursue a career as Italo Disco DJ in the 80s under the name Android during which he composed the track Skydancer

Unfortunately, during he career as a DJ, he got addicted to cocaine and ended up in the psychiatry. He became homeless and became well known in Utrecht. During the 2000s, he went viral when a video of him surfaced the web where he as a homeless person would tell strangers in Utrecht about how he was a UFO pilot.

That's initially how I found out about him in the first place, the fact that he had such a fascinating backstory blew my mind and is in somewhat inspiring to me.

El netsuke, así como el inrô y el ojime, pasaron de ser objetos utilitarios a pequeñas esculturas, algunas de gran valor que se consideraron piezas de coleccionismo.

Los netsuke SHUNGA 春画根付(imágenes de primavera) representan escenas eróticas y sexuales, que con el paso del tiempo tienden más a la pornografía que al erotismo inicial entendido como juego y diversión.

Cuando comienza el uso de los sagemonos en el siglo XV, el netsuke consistía en una pieza sencilla, generalmente un pequeño trozo de madera anudado en el extremo del cordón del sagemono. Con el paso del tiempo se vuelve voluminoso y se practican agujeros en la pieza por donde pasaba el cordón. Será en la segunda mitad del siglo XVII cuando se comiencen a tallar y decorar los netsukes, convirtiéndose en tallas en miniatura de formas y temas variados, trasformando el netsuke de un objeto simple nacido de una necesidad cotidiana en una pieza artística sofisticada, con tallas de un gran nivel artístico. El arranque del siglo XIX será la edad dorada de los netsukes, época en la que aparecen firmas de talladores profesionales. Durante este siglo la importancia de los netsukes es notoria. Eran objetos de juego, pues la innovación en temas hizo que se volvieran más cómicos y expresivos; no eran caros y eran cómodos de llevar y lucir, incluso permitía a la sociedad japonesa saltarse las reglas suntuarias en contra de la ostentación en el vestir establecidas por el gobierno militar, conocido como el Shogunato o Bakufu 幕府 que gobernó en Japón durante siglos. Tras la restauración Meiji en 1868, los cambios culturales traen consigo el desuso de los sagemonos, y por lo tanto de los netsukes, aunque nunca se abandonaron.

We made a session where the players were asked by a gold dragon to retrieve a globe from an anti dragon town, only to have the globe hatch into a baby gold dragon the players had to sneak out of the city

I dm’d a section where players uncovered an abandoned cultist lair to Vecna. They found a hand and eye made of human teeth, a room of self harm, then in a library a voice spoke to them. The ranger had a passive perception of 20 and was scared shitless when they couldn’t see the source. It was a nothic, a CR 5 dude when the party was six peeps at lvl 12.

Bodying Strahd when he came to fuck up our party with a nat 20 to tackle this man. 8ft minotaur fighter bulldozing the dark domain’s big bad.

I dm’d a solo session around the conceit that Pelor might be evil AND PULLED IT OFF. There’s a big conspiracy theory that Pelor may be a demon prince instead of a holy deity. So I made a gothic horror town like Innistrad centered around Pelor, only for the player to discover Pelor shackled the world’s version of the devil to the land who continues to cause suffering.

Saving this for all the npc’s I’ve made my buds have loved and adored: Taenth the brass dragon who hoards lifelong loves, Imro the lovable big grump of a red dragon, Jubilance the one in the throuple who reminds everyone to drink water, Yeen the boisterous gnoll merchant, Belorrel the secret dragon in a human town with a penchant for pastry making, Alixi the ex yuan ti guard who seeks outer peace, Fletch the plucky half-fiend aarakocra with a beast of a wild shape, Sir Rokas the leonin leader who’s mentor to many, its your love of my characters that makes me want to dm.

boba's so space vaquero <3 i like to think he's a little old-style but also kind of laid back despite his cocky cowboy attitude? also the banthas because he's canonically a big sucker for those and i love that for him :) i also wanted this to feel a little retro and old because he feels so old man to me even when he's not an old man yet for most of the story i have for him

sintas is such an interesting character to me, specifically in the story i've written for her. she's been on the run for over 20 years trying to survive the past, and she finds herself eventually back in her old life. all she wanted to do was protect her daughter from the target boba had accidentally put on the family's back, but ironically now she finds herself safe in the arms of her past lover again after aimlessly running for so long (physically and emotionally)

fennec is driven by her sense of companionship and loyalty. after boba saved her life and essentially granted her a second chance, she never left his side since that moment. she's fearless, she's ruthless, and by god is she bold and brave. she's both the one in charge and the right hand man if that makes sense

Netsuke MOKUGYO 木魚根付, tiene forma de gong, instrumento musical utilizado para acompañar los cantos religiosos ofrecidos a Buda. Suelen ser de madera, bambú o cuerno de ciervo. Representan peces, delfines, dragones y monstruos.

The Bulgarian bourgeoisie is increasingly hostile and provocative against neighboring North Macedonia. North Macedonia’s territory has historically been a target of Bulgarian expansionism and regional ambitions. On this, the Bulgarian ruling elites are united, regardless of formal political association. It was Borisov’s government that first blocked EU-North Macedonia negotiations, in order to force concessions from the Macedonians over language and “national identity”.

President Radev, close to the BSP and considered an enemy of Borisov, maintained pressure on Macedonia, with the support of the PP government.

In April, Bulgarian Premier Peskov and Vice President Iliana Iotova unveiled a “Bulgarian cultural club” in the North Macedonian town of Bitola, named after the infamous fascist collaborator Vancho Mihailov.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Mihailov led the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), a terrorist organization in the service of the Bulgarian state. A determined anti-communist, Mihailov became an ally of Mussolini and the fascist Ustase movement. The IMRO participated in the Bulgarian occupation of Macedonia and parts of Greece, as well as the Holocaust in these regions. Mihailov would flee to Italy and become a collaborator of the CIA against Yugoslavia.

After the restoration of capitalism and similar to the fate of fascist leaders in other countries, the Bulgarian bourgeoisie would rehabilitate Mihailov and the IMRO, as it sought to resume its predatory interests in the region.

Bulgaria’s irredentist ambitions are not only tolerated but encouraged by the EU, giving the lie to the imperialist fantasy that the EU is a harmonious association of nations. To sever Bulgaria’s links to Russia, it has allowed the Bulgarian elites to continue blackmailing Macedonia.

Germany is also intent to bring Macedonia firmly into its economic sphere by completing its EU accession, in order to counter Russian and Chinese investment and influence in the country.

The so-called “French proposal” pushed by the EU powers this summer enshrined Bulgarian ambitions on the future course of the Macedonian accession to the EU. The document provoked an intense crisis in both countries.[...] The “French proposal” was passed through the Bulgarian parliament with broad support from all political factions.

In North Macedonia, the plan was passed through parliament by the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia government. There were widespread, often violent street protests throughout the summer. These protests were organized and led by the far right and ultranationalist forces, led by the VMRO-DPMNE party. The VMRO was founded in 1990, in explicit opposition to the country’s founding by the mass Yugoslav partisan armies in December 1945. Initially cultivating ties to Bulgaria, the party later distanced itself from Sofia.
