What’s your favorite Genshin/HSR teams to run? :O

Ramblings under the cut!! Sorry this took so long, I have been hither and thither:

Your answer was so thoughtful and meta-based, I feel silly for saying this but I mostly just play with teams of my favorites (and when I say 'play' I mean 'suffer and do my best to strategize with what I've got TwT'). I also like to play with groups I think would be fun in-fiction, like, a group of characters that would have fun dynamics. That being said, here are my favorites for Genshin!:

Main Team: Xingqiu, Alhaitham, Zhongli, Kazuha! Shields up, Bloom, gather everything towards the enemies using Kazuha, beat on the enemies until the pods explode! Rinse and repeat. I use this combination a good 90% of the time. by the way the dynamic for this one is. nerds. you KNOW there are book discussions and friendly poetry competitions going on. and so much tea-drinking.

I used to have an A, B, and C team, but usually nowadays I just switch characters in and out depending on what I need. My other go-tos are Keqing, Kaeya, Neuvillette, Ayato, Wanderer, Arlecchino, and Kaveh! I used to use Diluc and then Dehya a lot but I find them a little difficult to use even though I love them, so I've been learning to use Arlecchino lately.

I have a few teams planned for if when I can get my grubby, sticky hands on Dottore (he will probably be replacing Alhaitham on my main team rip buddy I love you very much) and one of them is Medical Malpractice (Dottore, Sigewinne, Baizhu, and I was originally planning on Tighnari but Ifa might fit better!)!

As for HSR, I also have a main team and several backup characters that have been slowly filtered out as I get my team where I want! Originally I was playing with my favorites here too until I got Acheron and like. I mean I love her and she is a favorite but my team now absolutely revolves around her lmao. (And Welt, started the game for him and he was my first 5-star so he stays <333)

Main Team: Welt, Acheron, Sunday, Jiaoqiu! I used to have Gallagher on my team until I got Sunday, and my strategy right now is "Everybody buffs Acheron and she will hit things until they stop moving" xD a very, the best defense is a good offense. I'd really LIKE a healer though and I just got Luocha (who I've been wanting since I started), so I'm trying very very hard to get Acheron up to E2 so Luocha can take Jiaoqiu's spot. I'm actually a little lost as to if it's better to have E0 Luocha or E6 Gallagher on my team but I think I've liked Luocha a little better...not sure. I will happily take advice!! I think it's probably fine to have both around though since I've only just now started diving into the parts of the game where you need two teams...

My backup faves are: Dr. Ratio (SO SAD I HAD TO KICK HIM FROM THE MAIN TEAM.......he's one of my favorites), Luocha, Gallagher, Trailblazer (Preservation), Natasha, Misha, and Sushang! I also like Arlan but I haven't built him at all ^^;;

lowkey thinking Virgo for shenhe, because of the figure she summons in her burst. also, all her movements are very graceful why do they give the best normal attacks to characters who don't use them. stamina for her, but due to the lore of her being able to fight off the cave demon god for several days on end.

author's thoughts. i have a headache like at least once every other day and every now and then i am cursed with a skull-splitting migraine that makes me irrationally angry because i'm sensitive to absolutely everything and am in pain. it is not a fun experience! so i wrote this with my two beloveds.... also slightly inspired by june's kaveh x disabled/chronically ill reader fic <3 also another filler post! my requests have been considerably long recently. there's nothing wrong with that! i adore long requests! it just means they'll take a bit longer to come out because you guys give me really good, detailed material to work with 💕

kaveh, who frantically does what he can to ease your pain and baizhu, who's much more calm and articulate in his treatment of your pain.

kaveh genuinely, wholeheartedly hates seeing you in pain. it makes him feel so unbelievably helpless, knowing that he can only really do so much to make you more comfortable, but he's not really thinking much about himself in the moments that you're feeling bad. he may be feeling a little helpless, but he can't imagine how you must feel. frustrated, he'd guess, considering how your head seems to hurt more often than not. he can only imagine how irritating it must be. he's immediately got all the curtains shut tight and all the lights dimmed if you happen to be sensitive to the brightness and he WILL make it so that there is as little loud noise as possible if you're sensitive to that. absolutely no-one is allowed to be loud in your general vicinity when you're feeling unwell. he will gladly tell just about anyone off in your defense. if you find yourself completely incapacitated by your pain, he will get your meds for you. also your meals; he would be glad to prepare them for you. anything you need. water? he's on it, just stay there. also maybe this is just me, but i seriously sometimes just want a hug when my head hurts. kaveh would totally give you all the hugs you want. i just know that being in his arms would be so warm and comforting.

baizhu also hates seeing you in such pain, but he does understand on a more personal level than kaveh. he knows what it's like; he himself is more often in pain than not, so he has the capacity to be not just sympathetic but also empathetic to your situation. he'll hand-craft medication specifically for you and your needs based on your individual symptoms, taking into account any allergies you might have and also considering if you would prefer liquid, pills, or another form of meds entirely <3 he does his best to accommodate for your personal preferences. everything he does for you is very gentle and careful. also if you're irritable, he gets it. you're in pain. you have every right to be angry, to be quite honest. like kaveh, he'll totally do whatever he can to minimize uncomfortable sensory input. it's too bright? don't worry, he'll close the blinds and curtains for you. someone's being a little too loud and it's making your head hurt more? no, no, stay put. he'll handle it. overall i think he's very doting, but in a more professional way than kaveh is! he dotes on you and you can just tell that he's a doctor because of the way he so skillfully monitors your symptoms. he uses his expertise to make it so that you experience as little pain and discomfort as possible. he'll also give you general advice on how to manage migraines in the future, especially for a situation where he happens to be unavailable for any reason—sometimes he might be unable to help because of his own bodily condition. nonetheless, he does what he can.

overall, both kaveh and baizhu are very lovely and doting and will do everything they can to help you out <3

So, anyone who knows me knows I am a HUGE Baizhu lover. I don't get majorly defensive over many fictional characters, but I'll go to war over Baizhu because fandom was wrongly terrible to him from the moment his character first debuted ( calling him a p*do, calling him corrupt, calling him ugly, etc, when his CANON story explicitly states he is one of the purest, kindest people to date ). Flashback to his debut banner, where Kaveh was also featured for the first time, and the hatred for Baizhu escalated SO much to the point I felt like I was going insane just for loving him. It's like they couldn't just be quiet and pull for Kaveh without throwing in an insult or two about how they ' didn't care about Baizhu ' or ' this banner only matters because of Kaveh, ' after Baizhu wanters had been waiting for literal years for him.

I don't hate the character. He reminds me of Howl Pendragon, appearance wise, and is relatively well written. But the way fandom cherishes/worships him like a god and were so swift in putting down MY favorite character just... turns me off so much. Granted, G.I's fandom has a TON of faults and this isn't the first time they've done this ( and it won't be the last, I'm sure ), but... yeah. Just... sorry to the Kaveh lovers. The GOOD ones, at least.

hello. if i remember correctly, on your alt genshin account you only use tall males, right? so i was wondering what kind of team combos do you use? which one is your favourite so far? and which tall male character is your favourite from a gameplay pov?

Yes, that's right. It's tall men, Traveler (harem master), and Qiqi (for who am I to separate a man and his child).

The team combos question is a very problematic one, honestly. I'll give the simpler answer at the start, since then I will go on for a very long time (as always).

Currently, the way I deal with Abyss is C1R1 Neuvillette on one side with Zhongli for defense, Anemo traveler for dealing with any strays, and one flex for just some kind of element that can be both swirled and used for Neuvillette's third stack. I do intend to eventually put Childe in the last slot, for his +1 NA passive, Hydro resonance and energy from Fav. Then I'll probably rotate as Zhongli > Childe burst > Traveler swirl with VV > Neuvillette goes to town, and then repeat.

The other side is Burgeon with Ayato on-field driver, Thoma, C2 Baizhu, and Kaveh flex whose job is to use 4 piece Exile and R5 Fav greatsword for energy management. Because both Baizhu and Ayato have rather wonky elemental application, it's not a great team, but it's generally workable and the rotation is surprisingly doable for me (Baizhu skill > Ayato burst > Thoma skill/burst > Baizhu skill/burst/skill > Kaveh skill/burst > Ayato skill for six seconds > restart).

Before getting Neuvillette, I used a temporary team of Diluc + Kaeya melt. But the damage was underwhelming for a variety of reasons, and it was very easy to mess up. Diluc melt really expects you to use Bennett and a second cryo to work.

Of the characters I don't have yet, probably the only untapped viable team options would be with Wriothesley. He might be able to freeze with Ayato burst off field or to do some kind of burn melt, but I am really iffy about the elemental application side and would need to actually try it to see.

Talking about this more generally, tall male characters make team building extremely difficult.

On the men currently in the game, literally more than half are purely on-field DPS, with 0 off-field or support capability. That's Diluc, Childe, Itto, Alhaitham, Kaveh, Neuvillette, and Wriothesley, 7 out of 12.

Of the remaining five, Zhongli and Baizhu are almost entirely defensive, with very little buffing or personal damage. Thoma is similar except if used for Burgeon. Ayato's burst has spotty elemental application and low damage, and Kaeya's burst has ICD and extremely limited range. (It's an actual problem if used with Ayato in freeze, for example, or with Neuvillette.)

Genshin's team building generally works via 3-4 team members being support or off-field dps, so you can imagine this is a massive problem, since the men just flat out do not have two teams' worth of off field anything. Even in my intended two teams, Childe and Kaveh are basically just using their weapon/artifact effects and ignoring their actual kits.

And there is also the issue that tall men have literally 0 electro or anemo options, outside Traveler being slotted in. I find switching traveler's element to be massively annoying, so I want to stick with just one, and that one happens to be Anemo because her grouping ability is actually really useful for small mobs in overworld and some domains, plus VV is a generically useful set in most cases. Additionally, Electro Traveler was a nightmare the one time I tried it.

This means that I both lose out on Dendro Traveler (who is basically the game's second best off-field dendro option), and also that Quicken, Hyperbloom, or Physical are just not available. This immediately undercuts Alhaitham's potential, since he's designed to play with electro reactions. Itto is in the same boat, since he's designed to play with Gorou and mono geo. Childe is basically a Xiangling enabler, Diluc needs to be carried by top tier supports to be viable, and Wriothesley is... well, he's possible, but I don't like fisticuffs characters in Genshin.

This is all a long way to say that Neuvillette was a god-sent for this account because he is such a one man solution to a massive amount of problems. Since this man can solo things, his team doesn't even matter. It's perfect. This is why I went so hard on him. I plan to get C2 eventually as well.

That said, I don't find Newville particularly interesting to actually play as. He's just convenient.

My favorite... is hard to say. On my alt, I generally play as Traveler. I like the grouping on the Anemo skill, it's actually pretty fun. On my main, I play mostly as Childe in overworld (though never Abyss). I like the flexibility of a bow but also having the melee stance. And in overworld, things tend to die fast enough that the cooldown on skill is not a big concern. So it would probably be one of those two.

i am. thinking about reverse isekai some more to get me through these trying times (finals season) and imagine the stress of having to take care of the poor acolyte(s) who ended up in your world (i'm going with adult reader who has their own apartment and job and pays taxes n shit. just bc i don't want to write abt explaining to parents/roommates what tf is going on)...... like ofc it's super cool like omg your favorite characters!!! irl!!! but after the initial surprise wears off?

obviously you can't just leave them out on the streets bc they'll like. i don't know. get fuckin hit by a car or something so you let them stay in your apartment!! your tiny. one bedroom. apartment. it's fine, you can stay on the couch! you barely have enough food to feed yourself, thanks to your minimum-wage budget? that's fine! you don't have to eat that much, and you can't just let your guests go hungry!!

they try to help the best they can, they really do... but all the finished chores and time spent learning how to use the technology of your world don't change the fact that they can't help with the one thing that seems to matter most in this world - money. with extra people to provide for, you're forced to take up extra shifts, work longer hours, just to earn enough to be able to not have to choose between eating and paying rent.

of course, you don't let them know about all this, but your guests don't tell you that they can hear the way you cry late at night when you think everyone's asleep, stressed out by everything that's suddenly been thrust upon you - teddy anon

at first you’re so starstruck and in awe, excitedly talking to them and showing them what every appliance does—partly so they don’t break them, partly because you like the shine in their eyes as they learn.

the first week is easy, and it’s when you’re shopping that the reality of the situation starts to set in.

you’re not used to having to buy for two, and the subject of their clothing comes up quickly as well. not to mention the fact that they’re probably used to more organic or locally grown stuff, and what if they react badly to food here? and that’s putting aside what they like and prefer too, but you can’t let them leave the house since they’re still not used to everything-

and your job, gosh, you’d taken a few days off at first to help then adjust but now you were feeling the sting of that lost pay. not to mention the fact that all your expenses and bills would go up since, yknow, they needed to use lights and water and all that while you were out of the house.

and if more than one were isekai’d? godspeed, man…

thoma and noelle make themselves useful doing chores, but quickly realizing that there’s little to do. they quickly become antsy; though they try and make food for you to return to, they struggle with your appliances and your tastes, not to mention your lack of raw ingredients.

some like diluc, childe, or ayato try and offer you mora, pulling bags of it from their inventories to of course compensate you for your stay, but it doesn’t go over well. you have to deny them and explain that mora isn’t used here, but all that gets you is stunned confusion—and dawning horror, later, but that’s a burnt bridge when you get to it.

others such as venti or xinyan try and perform on the streets, but it doesn’t pay as well as they want it to. ningguang is a bit more confident in herself, but that crumbles the moment she realizes that she both holds no power here nor has any knowledge of the market. she knows she can do something, be useful, but she doesn’t quite know how, and that’s the worst.

a few tend a bit towards the ‘street performer’ type, whether intentionally or accidentally. i can see kazuha subtly using the wind to guess a number someone’s thinking of, and kaeya could easily keep someone talking long enough to perform some quick sleight of hand. no, he doesn’t steal—you’d get far too mad at him for that—but his ornate get-up and smooth voice draw people in often enough that he makes quite a bit in tips.

keqing, ganyu, and ayaka all offer to either get jobs themselves, but since they technically don’t legally exist, they try and help you apply to better ones instead. thoma might try and do housework for your neighbors—it serves a few purposes, including getting a bit of cash, keeping off legal books, and increasing your relationship with them. jean and ganyu try and help manage your finances, or at least learn how to file your taxes to chip away at the stress they’ve caused.

a few straight up offer to steal—yes, offer, they wouldn’t even breathe without your permission of course they’ll come to you before doing crime—such as dainslef, childe, or kujou sara, but you shut that down quickly enough. xingqiu spends a lot of his time on online writing contests, and the occasional 50-300$ comes in your mailbox, but don’t count on it. albedo might try and sell his art, but he’d much rather give it to you, to be honest. your smile is worth more to him than some stranger’s approval.

some are completely lost. itto, gorou, hu tao, sucrose, collei… they’re all at a loss for what they can do to help. they don’t know your world, they don’t know what’s happening, they don’t know why you lie about it being a guest room so they feel less bad about taking your bed. it doesn’t work.

none of them do, really. after a good few months, maybe a year or so, all of them fall to this level of helplessness. they don’t know how to get you back to their world, they don’t even know how to leave themselves, but it’s clear that their presence here is wearing on you. they try, they do, but even the most chipper of your followers can see how dreary you seem.

it feels wrong to lie in your bed. it feels wrong to depend on you, when it should be the other way around. it’s wrong to take your resources and your time, wrong for you to be the one in distress, and they can’t even do anything about it. they’re stuck within these four walls, unable to help you, stuck being helpless.

from down the hall, they hear you sigh, poring over yet another impossible choice, and the sound alone brings them to tears.

Scaramouche was a bit annoyed. After all, as a harbinger, he had no time to deal with such idiotic things. But when he found out you overheard some unsightly humans whispering about this, he was furious. Especially because you had to be drunk to admit this to him. Did he not give you all of his heart? So why do you still not trust me? And how dare someone make you feel so insecure. "No, no," you shook your head, solemn. "I-I didn't want to bother you about such things, its alright Love, I'm fine." you cupped his face with your hands and smiled at him, assuring him it'd be ok. "E-erm.." he stuttered, flustered by you holding his face. I mean, someone as pretty as you is his girlfriend. His! "If you'd like, I do have some spare time.." he paused, looking for a reaction. Your face lit up. Drunk you was quite bold and honest. "Really?! Does that mean i have you all to myself?!" you jumped up in glee. You pulled him out your home in Snezhnaya, going to who knows where and doing god knows what. After you exhausted yourself and fell asleep in his secure arms, it was time to punish. Those foul beings never walked the entirety of Teyvat again. Waking up, you had no recollection about what you did when you were black out drunk, but your lover's public display of affection grew, from shyly holding hands and sneaking his arms around your waist to kissing you in front of everyone, and also calling you pretty, beautiful, etc.

The Wanderer was the equivalent to a dandelion seed that never stopped floating. But when he found you, it was like finding firm ground to grow and blossom. You made him feel things that made him whole. You showed him all sorts of emotion. One day you came home (he moved in your home) drunk, tripping over yourself. Wanderer rushed to support you as you leaned against the wall. "hehehe!" You giggled, wrapping you arms around your neck. "Y/n!" he stammered. "Gosh," You sighed, staring lovingly into your lover's eyes. "How did i get such a beautiful boyfriend?.." He was flustered, face red and all. "You're so much prettier than me and everyone...what if someone snatches you away from me!?!" you started to worry. "Y/n my love, it should be i who is afraid, you're so kind to everyone and unintentionally charismatic...theres even a fan club of you..." (he totally didnt start a fan club about you)

"Gorou baby, why are you just so cute?.." you held his face and leaned in, staring deeply at his features admiring them. Gorou wasn't accustomed to this type of affection, or affection in general. "W-what? Cute?! I-I'm not!" He was very red, closing his eyes in embarrassment after noticing his tail wagging. "My cute little general...I just wanna keep you all to myself!" You laughed, holding Gorou by the waist in one arm and holding a cup of beer in the other. "Y/nnnnnn...." he covered his face with his hands, he didn't want you to see him like this...you'd just call him cute again!

"Ohhhhhhhhh Xiaooooo over hereeee! Hehehe" you laughed, waving your arms drunkenly at Xiao as you clutched a whole bottle of dandelion wine given to you by a bard who was your friend. Xiao sighed as he walked over to you. "I didn't know an immortal would have such low alcohol tolerance...that damn bard.." He sighed again, pinching the bridge of his nose annoyed. "You're so gorgeous Xiao...my gorgeous boyfriend. So so pretty...hmmm" you collapsed forward, but fortunately, a blushing mess of a Xiao caught you and carried you bridal style (heheeh) to your home. "What nonsense are you spouting...I'm not...gorgeous or pretty..." Affection and love were new to him. make sure you give him lots of it in the future!

Baizhu, as someone who is ill, did not drink any form of alcohol that night. You however...drank both shares of alcohol given. Thus you were very, very drunk. "Baizhuuuu...." you slurred. "Yes dear?" He replied softly, smiling. "You're just...toooo pretty. Prettier than everyone hehehe!" you giggled like some high school girl in love as you looked up at his rather stunning face as you laid on his lap. "Oh my... getting flirty now are we? I think you're the most stunning and intelligent woman i've ever met!" Changsheng grimaced. "You guys are so lovey-dovey it's going to make me vomit!"

As a rather broke architect, Kaveh usually wasn't able to drink such a high-quality wine. And you, a rather wealthy individual who practically ran the fruit industry in Teyvat, travelled a lot. So this fancy dinner kaveh had cooked up and the luxurious wine you had brought back as a souvenir made a perfect romantic time at your house. I forgot to mention. The two of you were really, REALLY drunk. "God that awful man! I can't believe I have to be his roommate!" You laughed. "You could always stay with me you know. Ah but i suppose you'd get lonely...whatever! Anything my pretty boyfriend says I'll agree hehe" You stared at his face, admiring his beauty. "I mean, gosh smart and pretty?! I got soooooooooo luckyyy" Kaveh was very bashful towards your flattering comments. "I'm not pretty! I'm handsome!" He argued. "Right, right...you're handsome! Super duper handsome!" You laughed. "Stop teasing me!" He was practically a tomato! "Awwww is someone shy? I should do this more often!~" The teasing went on for a record breaking one and a half hours! I wonder if you can break the record again next time?
