I watched a training on career development; the premise was that project managers should treat their career like a project. And one really stupid comment stuck with me: "salary should not be in your goals. That's like choosing your software before knowing the project requirements."
It was ironic, because one of his goals was "work-life balance at a remote workplace." 🙄
It was a lot of fluff about making lists of what you like to do at work and what you don't, and that somehow translates to finding your dream job. He discouraged using luck-based strategies, in favor of...a luck based strategy of mentoring people who will hopefully inspire you. 🙃
And I'm just like. "Ok, project manager. You haven't accounted for your assumptions."
But also. Knowing your budget is important to being a project manager. There's a minimum budget needed to succeed. If you're not planning that out early, you didn't really plan your project.
And I'm sitting there thinking that next, for me, isn't a reassessment of the tasks I perform. I like the tasks well enough. Next is getting a $50k-70k wage increase, to be in line with the industry average for people with my skills, performing my tasks, at my level of experience in this region. It's a 32 hour work week. And more paid time off.
I don't care if I get a fancy new title. I don't care if it's a more prestigious company. I don't care if there are more interesting challenges. I've grown my skills. It's past time to grow my lifestyle. And that's not going to happen from a like and dislike list, and mentoring people.

Involving the spirit of creativity: Denny Ja revives the works of Andy Warhol through AI's touch
When talking about art, works from Andy Warhol become a very relevant example to be discussed. The artist born in the United States is very famous for his work which is often related to pop culture. Some famous works from Warhol include Blue Watermellon, Campbell's Soup Cans, and Marilyn Monroe. Warhol art does appear unique with its pop art style that combines popular elements such as advertisements, magazines, and movie stars. However, what if the famous works Andy Warhol is done with the help of the latest technology such as artificial intelligence? Denny JA, a famous Indonesian artist and businessman, decided to try to answer that question by reviving Warhol's works through AI's touch. Denny's hard work with a team consisting of AI experts finally appeared extraordinary and was enough to prove the sophistication of AI technology today. Although done with the help of the latest technology, these works still maintain the characteristics of colorful warhol art and are the result of modifications to popular stars. This senior Indonesian artist does have its expertise in turning the work of Warhol to be more unique and interesting using AI technology. Denny JA is known as an artist and businessman who is creative, innovative, and enthusiastic. His passion for art and technology allows him to succeed in creating worldwide works. It was the merger of art and technology that inspired him until finally Denny and his team conducted an experiment for the works of Andy Warhol art. Not limited to that, Denny JA has also tried to innovate in the world of literacy, especially through the publication of books by "Mizan" and "Gramedia". He introduced the concept of a book from the collaboration of Indonesian artists and writers entitled "Art and Literature". The book consists of 30 art pages painted by famous Indonesian artists and 30 pages of literature written by famous Indonesian writers. Denny Ja, also known as a social activist figure, is also active in social activities through the Human Rights and Democracy Study Center NGOs. He was elected as the team leader to run a social program aimed at combating corruption and building a culture of integrity. Denny Ja's success in creating innovation and continues to arouse the spirit of creativity in Indonesia has a positive impact and shows its important role in the world of art and technology. In addition, the social activities he carried out showed that he not only cared about his work in an art space, but also in a broader social life. From these experiences it can be seen that life with full awareness in creativity can bring positive changes in yourself and the surrounding environment. The spirit of creativity is what brings Denny Ja to revive Andy Warhol's works and create various other innovations. This will certainly bring inspiration and enthusiasm for you to continue to do new things that are creative in your life. Denny Ja's book, "art and literature", can also be proof that art and literature can work together in creating different and more creative works. Interrelated arts and literature can be a liaison to tell a story or can even be a work that complements each other. The book is the beginning of a new understanding to get new insight and knowledge. With the spirit of creativity, we can produce more meaningful works, represent a form of freedom of expression in our creativity, and help overcome social problems. Denny Ja has proven how the sophistication of AI technology can help maintain and provide a touch of creativity to Andy Warhol's works. He teaches us that with the spirit of creativity we can create something more meaningful and make positive changes in society.

Random Ass Update #3
Tumblr media
This one is dedicated to all you shits that can’t read.
A tsunami rocked the West coast. In light of the ongoing investigation into InvisaInk’s death, we decided that it’d be best if Deku went alone to aid with recovery efforts.
Thousands died. Recovery efforts are still ongoing.
If you’ve got the means, you oughta donate to the Japan Relief and Recovery Fund.
I stayed in the East.
Answered some shit questions between patrols. Told you fucks about Deku’s questionable taste in music.
PSA: I’m better than Deku at everything.
Deku kept in touch while he was in the Nagano through audio logs and holocalls.
There were sightings of someone that might’ve looked like me. At the time, I dismissed it as bullshit.
Explosions rocked the streets of Hosu. The cause was not determined.
Get your conspiracy theory asses off my blog.
I was arrested after an attack in Hosu; Okane Trust & Banking Company had been robbed in an explosive attack.
The Hero Police Force  released a statement revealed that on-site video surveillance captured footage of me at the scene, though the security system experienced technical difficulties only moments later.
Sweat and hair analysis also placed me at the scene.
Deku came back— even though I told him to stay in the East. Even though he was supposed to stick to the West to help tsunami victims.
There were protests. I guess some of you lot aren’t complete dickheads, after all.
Thanks.
I was drugged with Quirk suppressants. Standard procedure for those that’re being detained.
My body didn’t react that well to ‘em.
Footage of the bank robbery was leaked.
Deku compiled evidence to prove that I was innocent.
When presenting his argument to the detectives who were in charge of the investigation, Deku was dismissed without any consideration.
Asshole discovered that I was gonna be transferred to a maximum security prison even though I hadn’t even been arrested in any official capacity. Hadn’t even been charged of any crimes.
Idiot broke me out of jail.
Words don’t even begin to express what I felt.
That idiot has so much going for him, you know? Wouldn’t have partnered up with him if he weren’t a damn good hero. He lives to help others. Dunno if he could live without it.
And that could’ve been the end of it. Right there.
He would’ve given it up. Thrown it all away.
For me.
You’re an idiot, Deku.
We were pursued by Pros and police, but we managed to make it to the sewers. Since we’d spent weeks combing through them, we knew them pretty well.
Took refuge in an undocumented Quirk shelter.
Deku’d scheduled a leak of information to be posted onto the blog before he’d left. To tell everyone that he could of what had really happened, and to show why I wasn’t guilty of the crimes that I’d been accused of.
Here’s the gist of what he wrote:
I’m sure that the people who were responsible for kidnapping Kacchan are those who are responsible for InvisaInk, and do not say that without backing. The proof is in the visual evidence that has already been uploaded online by multiple sources; I suspect that the footage that was sent to me last night will be uploaded before long, as well.
Most would say that those leaked stills that show an apparent Kacchan robbing a bank appear to be wrong, somehow. And those conclusions would be correct.
There’s the obvious— the haircut, for one, which doesn’t at all match was Kacchan is currently sporting —but then there’s the more subtle (for those who don’t know Kacchan as well as I do, anyways).
The imposter in the video is a mirror image of the actual Bakugou Katsuki.
Upon reviewing some of the footage taken by crowd’s phones that day in the park— the day the fake InvisaInk confronted the both of us—I can see now that that InvisaInk was a mirror image of the actual InvisaInk, as well; for those that want obvious proof, I suggest slowing the video down to a fourth of it’s usual speed and pausing as InvisaInk lifts his gun to Kacchan’s head— you can see the visible outline of InvisaInk’s tattoo as his shirt sleeves rides up— on his left arm.
The actual InvisaInk’s tattoo was located on his right arm.
A closer examination of each of their features has further proved that this person is, in fact, able to create mirror images of their target— given what they’ve known to have taken from both Kacchan and InvisaInk, I can only infer that they use bone marrow to supply this transformation with the aid of their Quirk.
This also shows why the YouTube video uploaded of the fake InvisaInk’s spiel had actually seemed to be right for both Kacchan and I— before the video had been uploaded, the murderers had actually edited and flipped the footage, so that the person being displayed was on the correct side again.
And yes, I did say murderers— because I believe this to be the work of not just one person, but at least two. Further inspection of the sight of the bank blast and an analysis of the explosion has proven that yes, while Kacchan’s actual sweat had ignited the ensuring explosion, it had blown the wall upon from inside the bank— he hadn’t entered from the outside, as witnesses and the footage depict of the alleged “Ground Zero.”
I have come to the conclusion that the second accomplice is one that harvests body parts in order to gain use of that target’s Quirk; for InvisaInk, the murderers harvested his skin, and for Kacchan— his hands.
The same hands that were taken from him months ago. During his kidnapping— which had been so similar to that of InvisaInk’s.
Chillingly, a closer look at footage captured at the Charity Smash event depicts a person that looks eerily similar to InvisaInk— with the exception of his height, his hair, and his features. In fact, his skin seems to be the only startling match— a comparison shows that the freckles on this man’s face exactly match those of InvisaInk’s.
‘Course it wasn’t me.
I’d never pull a stunt like that.
I’m a goddamn hero.
Anyways, some numbskull who’d just been released from their own interrogation actually managed to snap a pic of Deku breaking me out of there.
Didn’t cower in the sewers, though.
We found the fuckers that were responsible for what had happened.
Had some help from another Pro Hero, Earphone Jack.
Deku kept more of a level head than I did, admittedly.
I dunno. I guess it was harder than I ever would’ve imagined it’d be. Keeping my cool. When the sick bastards that skinned InvisaInk alive were right in front of me.
Chased ‘em to a crowded street, police got involved, caught the murderers, and gave ourselves up.
Seems like they might’ve been two of Backlash’s lackeys, but in all goddamn honesty, they seem like a pair of those Anti-Quirk Liberation League nutjob extremists. ‘Least, they seem that way to me.
Toga Akane was one of ‘em. Sister of Toga Himiko, who gained some fame from working as member of the League of Villains some years back.
She’s in possession of a Quirk that allows her to become a mirror image of anyone who’s bone marrow she consumes.
Claims she hates her sister. That people like her are the scum of the Earth. That people like herself are scum of the Earth. That people like them ought not to exist, and that their actions— and more importantly, their Quirks —are proof of that.
Says that she did it for the greater good. Part of a way of showing once and for all that Quirks ought to be eliminated— part of a way to show us all how they ruin lives.
The Anti-Quirk Liberation League won’t claim her. Say that they don’t associate themselves with common criminals, and that they’re horrified and repulsed by her actions.
Last I heard, she’s attempted suicide at least twice since the beginning of her imprisonment.
The other murderer was Hada Dorobō. Possessed an undocumented Quirk that snatches the abilities of other Quirks through imbibing body parts conducive to the utilization of other Quirks.
Appears that the sick bastard can only snatch one Quirk at a time; if he tries to take on another, the body part that he stole rots off of him.
Deku and I were released after Lead Detective Naomasa discovered that the secretary to the Senior Commissioner had been, essentially, brainwashing most of the force via email. Had a Quirk that affected perception through written word.
It’s been confirmed that the Senior Commissioner was bribed to ignore these criminal acts, and both of ‘em have been arrested. S’why the force had been acting so unreliably recently.
Originally, we were given a week of house arrest and ‘till the first of June of suspension, but that was changed to house arrest ‘till the first a few days ago.
After the first, we’ll be allowed to work as Pro Heroes again.
So we’ve been sitting around the house ‘till then.
Answered some more questions.
Deku revealed that he’s come across a Quirk that allowed the wielder’s dick to function like a compass. Pointed towards what the user really wanted, apparently.
I think that Deku’s a gullible dumbass and that it was just a boner.
Deku doesn’t wanna be the number one hero anymore.
He wants to be the best hero.
A great hero.
Fuck you, Deku.
There’s been some fallout. Apparently you can’t just break outta jail and expect to be considered a shining example of heroism by everyone.
Who would’ve imagined that.
I don’t give a damn what you have to say about it. Yeah, breaking me out was a stupid move, and yeah, it could’ve been so much worse, but you know what? Deku’s still a hero in my eyes.
In case you’ve lived under a rock for the past decade, you ought to know that the leader of the League of Villains is dead.
My biggest rival made a comeback.
Played some games.
One of ‘em was perverted as hell. Our publicist is a real piece of work, putting that crap together.
Truth or Dare ended with a naked Deku in my bed.
Deku worried too damn much about it.
It’s fine. Fucking weird, and awkward, and yeah, I was pissed that he pulled something like that just ‘cause he thought he could get some info that I wouldn’t hand over to him on a silver platter, but the fuck got too caught up in that.
Culminated in Deku putting himself into a slump.
Asshole told me that it’d be best if we didn’t share a bed for now.
Informed him of how goddamn stupid he is.
And then I told him to come to bed.
For better or for worse, we’re a team.
Shitnerd’s just gonna have to accept it.
We’re not fucking.
And we’re more than ready to go back to work already.

(CNN) Donald Trump is not coping well.
As he turned 74 last weekend, the oldest man ever to assume the presidency got all defensive about how he looked walking down a ramp at West Point. In truth, his slow-mo shuffle didn’t reveal anything that should embarrass a senior citizen. What was truly troubling was what Trump revealed the next day, when he shouted on Twitter: “THE SILENT MAJORITY IS STRONGER THAN EVER!!!”
The tweet harked back to Richard Nixon, who was president when the term “silent majority” was first used in 1969. It revealed how even in these troubled times, with the pandemic death toll passing 115,000 and citizens crying out for an end to police violence against minorities, the President is stuck in the past, out of step with a country that has changed practically overnight.
Some of the change is evident in the streets, where citizens of every race, religion, ethnicity and age group have joined a nationwide protest movement that recognizes police violence against African Americans and insists that Black Lives Matter. More proof of a changed society can be found in a recent Gallup poll that found four-in-10 support some aspects of socialism. Trump even seems to be losing the support of high-ranking military leaders as he refuses to consider renaming bases named for Confederate officers who waged war against the United States.
Trump is so incapable of adapting to change that he’s been lapped by NASCAR: It recently banned the Confederate flag, which has long been waved by fans at its tracks. Even the National Football League, which engaged in a long row with players who knelt to protest racial injustice as the National Anthem was played, has reversed field.
Locked in his increasingly isolated social and political views, Trump sticks to his old tricks, like calling on the “silent majority” because he’s apparently incapable of seeing modern America. For those who don’t remember, or never learned about the term’s origin, the “silent majority” was first invoked by President Nixon to argue that most Americans supported the war in Vietnam. In fact, polls done at the time showed that most believed the country’s involvement in Vietnam had been a mistake.
Similarly wrong was Nixon’s claim that his “majority” was silent. Pro-war Americans argued their side of things in political debates and kitchen-table discussions. They paraded and rallied, and a few would join in an organized attack — the Hard Hat Riot of 1970 — on anti-war activists.
If the phrase “silent majority” was so inaccurate, what about it would appeal to Trump? Well, it’s not that he was all for America’s war effort. As Trump told interviewer Piers Morgan he “was never a fan” of the war. It’s more likely that, as a marketing expert, the reality TV host who made “You’re fired!” his catch phrase loves the way that Nixon’s two-word term communicated so much to his political base. Nixon’s silent majority was, everyone knew, middle class, middle-aged, Christian, white and conservative, and they supported him.
As Trump leans on the term he reveals himself to be not only nostalgic, which is always a hazard for the aging, but a victim of another common problem among older folks: inflexibility. To be clear, this problem can afflict people of all ages, and it’s also true that many seniors possess nimble minds. However, Trump has long shown he is rigidly attached to a bygone era, and has demonstrated an inability to recognize change and adapt to it.
Take, for example, the political injury he suffered when he scheduled a rally for Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 19. As much of America knows, the date marks the annual Juneteenth celebration of African Americans’ emancipation. (The name derives from the day when Union forces notified slaves in Texas that they were free.) Long recognized in black communities, the celebration of Juneteenth has gained popularity in most corners of the nation. Last year the Republican National Committee marked the day with a proclamation.
Trump’s Senate ally Tim Scott has said the President didn’t understand the significance of Juneteenth (he changed the date of the rally when people pointed it out). This is a sign of a man living in an isolated past. So, too, is Trump’s selection of Tulsa for his campaign rally. Tulsa is the site of what has been called the worst racial massacre in US history. White mobs burned more than 1,000 black homes and businesses. Deaths were estimated at between 100 and 300.
For Trump to pick Tulsa, especially when the country is in the middle of coast-to-coast protests over police violence against black Americans, reflects either a colossal lack of awareness or monstrous cruelty.
The way Trump acts and speaks often makes him look like a mean old man. Take his administration’s decision to change the rules so health insurance companies can discriminate against transgender people.
Many larger insurers opposed the change, which was announced on Saturday. Two days later, the Supreme Court ruled that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination against gay and transgender people.
This Supreme Court is never on the leading edge of radical change, but even the justices seated on this court — six of whom qualify for Medicare — showed they understand America in a way that the president does not.
Our President’s inflexible mind is on display every time he calls out for “law and order” in response to civil rights protests that are overwhelmingly peaceful and supported by great majorities of Americans. (Perhaps Trump’s mind is stuck in the 60s.)
He did himself a similar disservice when during a recent press conference where he was questioned by female reporters he appeared to muse nostalgically about the days when women were meek and retiring.
Again, we must all recognize that Trump’s rigidity says nothing about all older people. (Follow the 84-year-old Dalai Lama on Twitter and you’ll see what I mean.) However, in the President’s case the inability to adapt does seem to be the sign of a man who is not aging well. He appears even more defensive and reactionary than he was when he was elected.
And like an out-of-touch founder of a business he’s no longer capable of running, he could do a whole lot of damage on his way out the door.

The suspension of football all across Europe following the coronavirus pandemic has caused plenty of confusion. The Premier League has been no exception to that, with runaway leaders Liverpool wondering whether or not they will be lift the title now, while the relegation dogfight at the bottom – which realistically involves six teams – is far from settled. The coronavirus pandemic has caused havoc in the sporting worldGetty ImagesThen there’s the Championship. After a 16-year absence Leeds finally looked set to make a return to the English top flight. But will they now after all is said and done? And what about League One, with Coventry seven points clear of third placed Oxford United with a game in hand. So, should the season be voided? Or perhaps merely postponed until the time comes for it recommence? Some have even suggested Liverpool, for example, should just be handed the title now? Below, talkSPORT.com writers have issued their verdict on what they think should happen next in English football… LATEST FOOTBALL STORIES LATEST UEFA want nearly £300m to delay Euro 2020, Grand National off, UFC fights on holdLATEST Transfers live: Umtiti to Man United, Chelsea ready Dembele bid, six Liverpool exitsNOVEL 'Carry points over to next season' - Man City fan's idea to solve coronavirus dilemmaKO TOURE 'He almost cried as Wenger limped away' - Kolo Toure's mad Arsenal trial revisitedGOSSIP United move for signing, Spurs to be offered 91-goal ace, Chelsea's top target namedSCRAPPED All events cancelled or suspended due to coronavirus, including PL, EFL and UFCINCOMING UEFA set to announce Euro 2020 delay, but want big windfall from clubsHUGE CHANGE How Liverpool have gone from PL champions-elect to rationing tea bagsNICE TOUCH Everton do brilliant gesture as Liverpool clash is postponed due to coronavirusLU HERO Remember when Fulham's Luis Boa Morte treated us to the best ever episode of Cribs? ANTON STANLEY, FEATURES EDITOR Void the season but have play-offs for European places. Right now, the only sensible option seems to be voiding the season across the English leagues. Yes, it’s tough on Liverpool. Well, tough doesn’t cover it. But given their recent form and the beauty of football, anything could have happened. Their recent run of two wins in six in all competitions is the proof it can’t just be handed to them on the assumption they would get the results they needed. All teams should remain in their current divisions with play-offs to decide our European qualifiers as a tasty pre-season tournament. It would, though, be vital for all clubs in all divisions to be given a financial package to keep them afloat given the money spent last season and their failure to earn promotion. Play-offs for promotion and relegation are an option but possibly too messy to sort out and could result in legal battles – sorry Leeds fans! VERDICT: VOID THE SEASON Anton has sympathy for the likes of Liverpool and Leeds, but says English football should be cancelled this seasonGetty Images - GettyBILLY HAWKINS, NEWS EDITOR Given there is no guarantee the season will resume on April 3, and there is a real chance the suspension will continue well beyond the initial end date, I am of the opinion that the 2019/20 campaign should be scrapped entirely. All results and records are expunged, with the 2020/21 season being used to replay 2019/20; this means no promotions, no relegations, and the same teams in Europe as this season. Given there is a good chance many leagues across the continent will be scrapped, this is the most viable outcome to ensure football can resume with as little disruption as possible. The only things that will remain in the record books are trophies which have already been won, such as Man City being Carabao Cup champions and Liverpool winning the Club World Cup. Coronavirus played no impact on these already completed tournaments, so they can go down in history with no suggestion of outside influence. VERDICT: VOID THE SEASON Billy is of the same belief – but says the trophies that have been won to date should remain intactGetty Images - GettyJOE MOORE, RADIO NEWS EDITOR I’m with Barry Hearn on this one – this Premier League season MUST be played to a conclusion as soon as it can. While Karren Brady has called for the season to be declared null and void (which would see West Ham stay up – funny that) and FA boss Greg Clarke has insisted the season cannot be completed, Matchroom chief Hearn has been one of the few to speak any sense, in my opinion. “For the integrity of the sport we have to conclude the fixture list. If that means delaying, abandoning or changing the following season, so be it,” he told Monday’s Sports Breakfast. And he’s right, isn’t he? How can you disregard a campaign which has only ten games left to play in favour of keeping next season on track, when nobody has any points in the 20/21 campaign? That would make no sense! So, when it’s safe to do so, play the rest of the season out. If that means playing two or three games a week, fine. If that means the season ends later than planned, fine. The Euros being cancelled will give us extra time to do that. Yes, there will be questions over players whose contracts expire in June – just get them to sign short-term extensions? The integrity of the current season must take priority over the next, surely? VERDICT: FINISH THE SEASON Joe is in full agreement with Barry Hearn’s notion that the Premier League season must be completedALEX JOHNSON, SOCIAL MEDIA EDITOR My take is this: With the 2022 World Cup already taking place in November 2022, this is a great chance for the Premier League and European Football as a whole to get the football calendar in sync with the World Cup. Restart the season when possible and aim to finish it by November. Then we start the next couple of seasons in the winter before returning to normal after the World Cup. And if Coventry City don’t get promoted despite being 7 points clear of 3rd place in League One, with a game in hand, I will hit the ceiling. VERDICT: FINISH THE SEASON Alex, a die-hard Coventry fan, would be livid if this season was voidedGetty ImagesSEAN GALLAGHER, SENIOR SPORTS WRITER You can’t just void the season just like that. Liverpool are 25 points clear at the top, the top-four race is far from over and just six points separate the bottom five sides in the relegation dog fight. Ultimately 75 per cent of the season has already been completed, so when the time comes for the season to resume it should be completed in it’s entirety – if the Premier League want to maintain any sort of integrity. UEFA must make the decision to delay Euro 2020 by a further year, which isn’t ideal, but not the worst case scenario by any stretch of the imagination. VERDICT: FINISH THE SEASON Sean maintains that the season should be continued where it let off when the appropriate time arisesGetty Images - GettyOLIVER DAWNAY, STAFF WRITER I think as soon as the pandemic gets better and the spread is fully contained, the Premier League should resume as normal with all the remaining games played. If this is done within six weeks, all the matches should be finished at the end of the summer and Euro 2020 should be delayed until 2021. The players will need to rest so the start of the 2020/21 season should be delayed for a couple of weeks and start at the beginning of September. Euro 2021 should therefore begin a little later. This would mean that Liverpool are crowned champions should they win the two matches that they need to and the rest of the teams will battle it out for promotion/relegation as normal. VERDICT: FINISH THE SEASON Ollie also wants the season to be concludedGetty Images - GettyJOSH FORDHAM, STAFF WRITER The Premier League should recommence whenever feasibly possible and not be scrapped, even if it means delaying the start of next season. Realistically, we don’t know when that will be but it would call into question the integrity of the league if the 29 games played so far counted for nothing. Euro 2020 should be pushed back to next summer to allow more time to complete this season, it is the only fair way of proceeding. You cannot just end the season now. If you handed Liverpool the title there would always be an asterisk next to it and if you scrapped everything it would seem hardly fair. Finishing the season would avoid the doubt and potential complaints that may arise from other scenarios. VERDICT: FINISH THE SEASON Josh says Euro 2020 should be postponed for a yearAFP or licensors #PremierLeague #ManchesterUnited #AFCBournemouth

Healthcare Marketing: 4 Ways to Use Digital Marketing to Improve the Patient Experience
Digital marketing plays a critical role in helping healthcare providers deliver superior service and care for their patients. Whether you’re launching an informational email campaign, posting educational resources related to your specific field of medicine, optimizing your website, or ensuring your contact list stays up to date, digital marketing can assist with improving the overall experience of your patients, as well as help your business attract new ones.
Let’s look at four specific ways digital marketing in healthcare can help improve the patient experience.
  Marketing Automation
Using marketing automation tools such as email sequencing can help you take your provider-patient communication to the next level. There is no shortage of ways to incorporate automation into your marketing strategy to help improve the patient experience, such as:
Sending regularly scheduled reminders for check-ups, procedures, and other medical issues your patients may need to follow-up on
Segmenting your patient email addresses so you can provide more tailored content to these segmented lists (for example, you can develop content relevant to the elderly and send it exclusively to your senior patients)
Scheduling updates to your practice’s social media sites. Social media can be an effective communication tool for sending out messages to your existing patients or promoting your services and specialties to potential patients who have yet to seek care
  Use Online Resources for Education
Your digital marketing platforms offer wonderful opportunities to educate both your current and potential patients. For example, you can email your patients with background information on the specialty services or procedures you provide. You can craft infographics and post them to your social media networks or email them to your patient email list. You can update your website with blog posts and other content specific to your practice that the general public can’t find elsewhere.
By using digital marketing to educate, you’re establishing yourself as a thought leader in your specific field of medicine. Potential patients will trust you more as an authority and will be more likely to seek your counsel. More importantly, you are providing your expertise and knowledge to your patients. You can also use this as an opportunity to provide tips on preventative care tactics such as physical fitness and proper nutrition. This helps your patients improve their health even outside your office.
  Adopt a User-Friendly Website
An easy to navigate website is one of the most powerful tools in your digital marketing toolbox. When a healthcare provider’s website is dominated by confusing graphics and clutter, this can result in a negative impact on the patient’s user experience.
SO first, analyze your website and the user experience. Survey your patients about its usability. Test its loading speed to determine how quickly users can access it. Look at it with a critical eye. Are you able to find crucial information easily?
Adopt a clean design that relies heavily on white space. Clearly label all subpages in your navigation toolbar. Have your practice’s contact information (address, phone number, and email) marked clearly somewhere on either your landing page or a specifically designed “Contact” section of your website. Post user testimonials to serve as a testament to the high-quality service you provide while giving your practice the social proof needed to attract and help new patients.
Make it as easy as possible for your patients to navigate your site. It will make their patient experience that much more convenient.
  Maintain Updated Contact Databases
Another critical part of using digital marketing to serve your patients effectively is maintaining up-to-date contact lists. When you keep your patients’ contact information updated, you ensure no lapses in communication with them.
Misplaced or insufficient patient data could lead to an inability to stay in touch. If you can’t stay in touch with them, you can’t follow up for reminders on check-ups or other critical medical information they may need.
Using an email verification solution helps you ensure all the emails in your database are correct leading to open lines of communication with all your patients. Validity offers proven data integrity solutions for healthcare providers. For more on what we can do to help, consult our website.

Blockchains Don’t Have to Be Perfect, They Just Have to Be Better
Michael J. Casey is the chairman of CoinDesk’s advisory board and a senior advisor for blockchain research at MIT’s Digital Currency Initiative.
The following article originally appeared in CoinDesk Weekly, a custom-curated newsletter delivered every Sunday exclusively to our subscribers.
There’s a moment during almost every presentation I give on blockchain technology’s potential to address trust barriers in supply chains where an audience member asks, “But are we not still trusting the thing/person inputting the data?”
I typically reply with: “More or less, yes.”
Some see that as contradictory, an invalidation of the argument that blockchains can solve the trust problems that create friction, inefficiency and opacity within the transaction chains that link farmer, miners, parts makers, goods manufacturers, shippers, wholesalers and retailers into our global trading system. Since this is an immutable ledger, they point out, all you’re doing is creating an “immutable garbage-in/garbage-out problem.”
It’s a good question and it points to key challenges in making this technology ready for prime time. But this so-called “last mile” problem is also something of a straw man. And if we delve into it, it offers a useful framework for understanding the true power of distributed ledgers generally and of blockchains specifically.
First, no one should regard blockchains as promising some kind of “trustless” utopia. No such society can ever exist – and if it did it would hardly be a utopia.
The same goes for blockchain ecosystems, even those of bitcoin and other permissionless payment systems whose value exchanges are entirely expressed in a self-contained on-chain native cryptocurrency rather than founded on potentially unreliable off-chain data such as the reports from a factory floor.
These vulnerabilities are not only found in the well-documented problems of centralized exchanges and wallets, but also in the computing devices used to manage crypto assets. Users must trust the manufacturers and all other parties that have touched their devices and their internal parts and components before they took ownership of them. Read up about Intel’s Spectre and Meltdown bugs for some insights into how deep this problem goes.
This is the nature of the world. Trust problems are everywhere. Period.
We’re just fixing a layer, but a vital one
So, why even bother with blockchain solutions? The answer: Because while they can’t fix everything, they do have the potential to improve one important trust problem in society’s economic architecture.
If we have a system that reliably records a sequence of changes of state within a particular dataset, doing so in a way that, for all intents and purposes, cannot be altered by any single party without the consensus agreement of everyone else, we can remove one layer of uncertainty from the multifaceted trust equation that lies at the heart of any economic community. I would suggest that’s progress.
Let’s face it: spreadsheets and enterprise software solutions did not solve all problems of corporate data management. But they did improve it.
And in this case, the particular trust layer we’re aiming to improve is not just any old layer. It’s arguably the most important: the ledger.
Ledgers are vital to society – their emergence right at the dawn of civilization some 7,000 years ago is no coincidence. In creating a record of transactions that different people could commonly refer to, communities forged a shared truth, an acknowledged foundation upon which to agree to work together and enter economic exchanges. (Note: we’re not talking about an absolute truth, but a standard of the truth that’s sufficiently accepted by everyone, a consensus view.) In fulfilling this role, ledgers have always been vital to how we solve our mutual mistrust problem.
The problem was that because we also had to trust the centralized ledger-keeper to define that shared truth, another vulnerability was baked into this all-important record-keeping layer. Herein lies the value proposition of decentralization.
In undercutting the power of the centralized ledger-keeper, it makes the shared truth that emerges from the distributed ledger more reliable, more powerful. Ironically, given all this talk of “trustlessness” or “trust minimization,” the result of any effective blockchain solution should be to strengthen our collective trust in each other, not diminish it.
Spotting patterns of bad behavior
There’s a lot you can do with a data log that everyone trusts, including in situations where you can’t necessarily trust those inputting the data. You should even be able to use it to hold those very same, potentially untrustworthy data sources to account and weed out the bad ones, for example. That prospect is enhanced when we combine a decentralized, immutable log with other information management tools such as data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Consider a factory worker who has until now been outsmarting everyone else in the supply chain, consistently recording falsehoods about his work output in ways that no one has previously detected. Well, his bad behavior might not be obvious to the naked human eye but it’s much harder to hide it from a computer that’s running a complex process of network analysis. It will uncover patterns in those large datasets and those patterns will expose him.
Now that they have a sequentially consistent, tamper-proof, commonly accepted log of data inputs, computers can more easily spot anomalies and red flags in data. Not only humans but also devices can be tested in this way, creating feedback loops that iteratively enhance trust in the overall system. This is why Cisco and others are incorporating a blockchain into solutions for proving the reliability of Internet of Things devices.
So, no, a blockchain isn’t perfect and a blockchain can contain garbage. But in many cases, it will be better than the status quo. We might even find that, quite often, it’s a lot better.

History of Lean Management
Looking for the history of lean management? This methodology has actually been around for years and many organizations have adopted using it within their companies. What is lean management and why are businesses and companies considering its use? Read on to find out more.
What is Lean Management?
Business theory that strives to create more value for clients by using the fewest resources. An organization that practices lean management knows the value of their customers and clients and seeks to increase the key processes in which their clientele is kept happy and continually willing to work with the business or company. This type of management is more a way of thinking rather than a reduction program for cost and expenses.
Tumblr media
How did this theory come about and why do companies and businesses want to utilize it?
The history of lean management can be traced to the automotive process that was started by Henry Ford. When Ford came up with the idea of making a motorized car, he invented the process known as flow production. For the viewing public, the most prevalent example of flow production is that of the assembly line, where part after part comes down a conveyor belt, each being fitted to another part that has also traveled down the belt or one that has been fitted by an employee...and more info over at brighthubpm.com/
The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution and the beginning of mass production would be an appropriate time to start a history of lean manufacturing. According to Stearns, society was drastically changed by the industrial revolution. The industrial revolution in early 1800s England was fueled by cheap labor that was worked very hard. Machine-made goods lowered the income of rural laborers and mechanization in the textile industry lowered the income of workers who spun cloth by hand.
Some skilled workers did well during this time, but many employers used orphans and low-paid women as sources of cheap labor. Industrialization had some benefits at this time, such as lowering the selling price of many goods; however, it was still a difficult time because work was unpredictable and many people could find themselves out of a job because of constantly changing economic conditions. Some workers rioted because of job loss caused by mechanization. They claimed to be following a mythical figure named Ned Ludd. The Luddites attempted to have machinery banned, but they failed.
Tumblr media
Life in the early factories was both hard and dangerous. Many factories worked the workers up to sixteen hours a day, six days a week and there was little protection from moving machinery that could injure workers. This was also at a time when an injured employee could not expect financial assistance from his or her employer or the government; therefore, an injury could lead directly to unemployment and poverty.
Factory life during the industrial revolutions was so unpleasant that Marx’ manifesto described work in a British match factory as being so bad that Dante would have found his levels of Hell surpassed because of the long hours, short breaks and the constant smell of sulfur in the air...visit - Quality Magazine.
World Class Manufacturing
By the 1980's some American manufacturers, such as Omark Industries, General Electric and Kawasaki (Lincoln, Nebraska) were achieving success.
Consultants took up the campaign and acronyms sprouted like weeds: World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Stockless Production, Continuous Flow Manufacturing (CFM), and many other names all referred to systems that were, essentially, Toyota Production. Gradually, a knowledge and experience base developed and success stories became more frequent.
Tumblr media
Lean Manufacturing
The Machine That Changed The World. Womack's book was a straightforward account of the history of automobile manufacturing combined with a comparative study of Japanese, American, and European automotive assembly plants. What was new was a phrase-- "Lean Manufacturing."
The essential elements of Lean Manufacturing are described at our page "Principles of Lean Manufacturing." They do not substantially differ from the techniques developed by Ohno, Shingo and the people at Toyota. The application in any specific factory does change. Just as many firms copied Ford techniques in slavish and unthinking ways, many firms copy Toyota's techniques in slavish and unthinking ways and with poor results. Our series of articles on implementation includes a "Mental Model" to assist the thinking process and guidance on strategy and planning...get more info at www.strategosinc.com
Development of the Toyota Production System
Sakichi Toyoda invented a weaving loom that was able to stop when it detected a broken thread. This enabled a single worker to be able to monitor several machines as the operator only had to intervene on an exceptions basis. This was the start of Autonomation or Jidoka; automation with a human touch, one of the important parts of the Toyota Production System and hence Lean Manufacturing.
Through selling the patents to this invention to Platt Bros in Yorkshire the Toyoda family were able to exit the textiles business and fund the start up of their automotive company – Toyota.

Lean Today
As these words are written, Toyota, the leading lean exemplar in the world, stands poised to become the largest automaker in the world in terms of overall sales. Its dominant success in everything from rising sales and market shares in every global market, not to mention a clear lead in hybrid technology, stands as the strongest proof of the power of lean enterprise.
This continued success has over the past two decades created an enormous demand for greater knowledge about lean thinking. There are literally hundreds of books and papers, not to mention thousands of media articles exploring the subject, and numerous other resources available to this growing audience.
As lean thinking continues to spread to every country in the world, leaders are also adapting the tools and principles beyond manufacturing, to logistics and distribution, services, retail, healthcare, construction, maintenance, and even government. Indeed, lean consciousness and methods are only beginning to take root among senior managers and leaders in all sectors today… for more info, visit - Lean Enterprise Institute
In summary, flow production methodologies are not new, but do require a number of things to be in place before they can be implemented within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
As you can see the flow of production methods are not new but they require a lot of things to be in place. Business process improvement can be done easily if the lean management are wisely used by a firm.

Opportunities To Green Up Small Urban Spaces
John Mini Distinctive Landscapes wants to tell you that the micro landscapes of pocket (or vest) parks are not only possible, but mission critical for enhancing our towns and cities. Tending these small pocket parks tucked about in various nooks and crannies of New York City’s midtown district is one of the lucrative services this company has been providing since the 1970s.
These urban downtown pocket parks, many coming into existence in America’s older cities in the late ’60s to mid-70s, include terraces, courtyards, rooftops and parking ramps where any open spaces are a luxury, benefiting from the concept of “greening” them up.
These days, more and more people are living and working in urban environments. The small spaces within these unique cityscapes are filled with immense potential, and it’s the goal at John Mini to reveal the green opportunities hidden in these untapped spaces.
A growing number of municipalities and foundations across the U.S. are funding the pocket park concept as a way to create beauty out of the blight resulting from abandoned lots.
“The beauty and the benefits of nature may be lost in that sea of concrete,” says Jack Mascharka, senior designer with John Mini Distinctive Landscapes. “Yet on the flip side, subtle and purposeful touches of nature in a sea of concrete create exponential impact.”
A design approach for small spaces, John Mini is particularly fond of blending and “down-sizing” ecosystems in order to create unique and eye-catching displays. “In small outdoor gardens, it’s possible to make dynamic landscaping compositions into pocket parks through carefully grading multiple environments into one another,” Mascharka says. “An example of this design concept would be duplicating the palette of a wetland but then bordering it with a mini meadow.”
Currently, an increasing number of municipalities and private foundations from Seattle to Miami are funding the pocket park concept as a growing solution to the frequency of small, abandoned single to double lots created when abandoned residences, folded factories and shuttered strip malls get bulldozed in the inner cities. Creating beauty from blight and recreational amenities from neglect, an abundance of grants are being allocated to neighborhood groups to oversee these new mini landscapes – and many of them are seeking the guidance and leadership of landscape designers, architects, installers and/or maintenance crews.
One such landscaper hanging her hat on the pocket park opportunity is Akron-based Beth Vild, who also works in the Northeast Ohio region’s permaculture and community health space. Akron is making efforts to win back half of its population lost since the ’70s when its auto and tire factories closed. Part of the city’s tactics is to beautify and safety-proof its inner city neighborhoods surrounding its tidy renovated downtown. Both private and public monies have been made available for the creation of pocket parks.
Last year, Vild worked on a grant for the creation of Oakland Avenue Pocket Park for the West Hill neighborhood, an eclectic mix of historic Victorians and modest Section 8 apartments located between downtown and the tony Highland Square neighborhood. “The neighborhood needed a unifying green space to bring the diverse mix of people together,” explains Vild. “It also had to slow traffic, encourage children to come out to play, and provide a safe and inspirational haven for seniors and young families to congregate.”
Working in tandem with Big Love’s City Repair, a local community organization for neighborhood revitalization, Vild transformed this abandoned grassy lot in the neighborhood’s transition zone into a vibrant micro-landscape. She first commissioned a local sculptor to hang a customized and oversized whimsical wind chime in the lot’s signature mature oak tree. Two English-style perennial gardens were installed.
Now in the pocket park’s second stage, round wooden benches in each corner of the lot, a circular stone performance stage, a free wooden library book nook, community bulletin board and edible plants including blueberry bushes are being installed to further lure local families to gather, enhancing the community vibe.
In larger cities, too, where mixed-use properties exist in abundance near the city center, pocket parks are important. No one knows this more than Erin Tharp, a registered landscape architect with her own landscape design firm, Tharp Design, in Morristown, New Jersey. She is also on the Landscape Architects Network team where she designs and often writes about notable urban landscapes, defining pocket parks (aka, vest parks) as mini oases in urban settings. Typically the size of one or two lots, they are usually classified as neighborhood green spaces designed with human activities in mind.
“They can be used as play areas, for taking lunch breaks, or even for small events,” she says. “Most importantly, they should be a place of quiet refuge and escape from the busy city life surrounding them.
The most successful pocket parks achieve a balance between this quiet escape and active meeting and play.”
Her favorite examples include two in midtown Manhattan: Greenacre Park and Paley Park designed by the late Robert Zion; South Garden at Art Institute of Chicago; and John F. Collins Park (formerly Chestnut Park), Philadelphia. All of these parks range from one-tenth to a half-acre in size.
New York City’s Greenacre is one of the smallest hidden parks in the Big Apple. Built in the early ’70s by designer Hideo Sasaki, a fountain and tunnel leads visitors to a 25-foot waterfall, completely blocking out city noise, thus becoming a calming oasis. Even smaller, the city’s Paley Park is one-tenth of an acre completely surrounded by skyscrapers. Designed by Robert Zion, the park opened in 1967 with a 20-foot water wall flanked by adjacent ivy-covered walls surrounding a food kiosk.
The South Garden is built atop a parking garage opening onto Chicago’s Michigan Avenue. Designed in the mid-60s by Dan Kiley, the high-rise park contains raised beds and honey locust and cockspur hawthorn trees giving way to a rectangular pool and the relocated historic Taft sculptural fountain.
Renovated in 2011, John F. Collins Park capitalizes on local native landscapes in Philly’s City Center area. Its entrance leads through a wrought iron whimsical animal gate. Inside lies a miniature fountain with a Native American totem design; blossoming flowers; redbud, dogwood maple, hickory and holly trees; and cozy stone benches. It’s used for cocktail parties, small receptions and wedding ceremonies in its popular new wine garden.
Even though pocket parks may be small, this by no means limits their large significance for landscapers. Their size not only makes it easier to design, install and maintain, but they also act as a 24/7 marketing vehicle for a large audience of visiting urban residents and business leaders needing services for their own landscapes.

Yoga for Heart Disease—Study Shows Reduced Anxiety in ICD Heart Patients
Imagine exactly how anxiety prompting it would be to have something in your breast that shocks your heart at any type of time. That is the fact for thousands of people dealing with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), a gadget that supplies electrical impulses to the heart to correct an irregular heart rhythm.
A brand-new study suggests that normal yoga technique could be connected to minimized anxiousness and also less shock-related heart episodes. This study is specifically significant in that it offers an outstanding instance of providing tailored yoga courses to fulfill the demands of an irregular example of grownups. Unlike several yoga exercise studies, they were able to accomplish a high degree of participation with a sample of non-traditional students, as opposed to experiencing a degree of drop-out.
Shock-Related Stress and anxiety: The Issue with ICDs
Individuals with ICDs frequently experience "shock-related stress and anxiety", or are afraid that the ICD will certainly supply a shock to their heart to deal with an uneven heart rhythm.
Since yoga is known to lower the stress and anxiety response and also enhance the feeling of health and wellbeing, the study checked out whether grownups with ICDS who practiced yoga would report less shock-related anxiety than a randomized "standard healthcare" control team. They also examined whether the number of DTV occasions, or the variety of times that the ICD was should deal with irregular heart rhythm, would certainly be reduced for those exercising yoga compared with controls.
As reported in Pacing and also Medical Electrophysiology, yoga team individuals reported a "marked decline" in anxiety, while those in the control group experiences increased symptoms. Those in the yoga exercise group additionally reported greater mindfulness and also self-compassion, whereas the control group decreased in both.
The anticipated number of DTV occasions was also substantially reduced gradually for the yoga team compared with controls. Those "taking part in the yoga exercise intervention had a 32% reduced risk about controls for experiencing device-related firings by the end of the [6-month] follow-up period", note the authors. Based upon these results the authors wrapped up that, "the yoga treatment might have a function in minimizing the intensity of the participants' arrhythmic problems".
Tailoring a Yoga Practice to an Older Population
The 46 adults that took part in this study did not represent a typical team of yoga exercise pupils. Participant age balanced 66. 3 years, and also the majority (78.3%) were male. Program programmers acknowledged that it was necessary to develop yoga courses that pupils would delight in as well as find beneficial in order to remain engaged.
Participants in the yoga group were asked to participate in 8, regular 80-minute "gentle adjusted yoga exercise" classes. According to the writers, "program content was made especially for the ICD cardiac population based upon existing yoga programs". Classes "included motions that followed life activity".
Yoga classes were adjusted for 3 various levels of functional capability to fit those who needed a substantial degree useful to those that needed little to none. Procedure consisted of breathing techniques (pranayama), adapted physical postures (asana), and “relaxation” (yoga nidra) and meditation exercises.
In addition to participating in courses, those in the yoga team were offered a 30-minute yoga house practice CD and also asked to practice on their very own for 3 times each week.
Participants getting standard treatment attended regularly scheduled medical professional check outs, got 5 regular monthly calls from cardiac nurses, and also had the data kept on their ICD downloaded and install every 6-9 months.
Keys to Inspiration: Making Yoga exercise Courses Easily accessible to Everyone
There was a high price of participation in the yoga exercise team. Many trainees attended 7 of the 8 courses, and practiced in the house reliably during the research duration. This is remarkable since most of individuals were older men.
These findings are motivating, as well as suggest that those in the yoga group were motivated to exercise. This may be due to the fact that the courses were adapted to their special demands, and also tailored to their unique capacity level, instead compared to being hard or inaccessible.
This research provides a touching instance of the requirement for yoga exercise instructors to adapt their courses to the requirements of their pupils, which can supply them with the motivation as well as success that they require to continue in spite of physical or emotional challenges.
Although this research focused specifically on those with ICD's this article suggests that yoga exercise could be of advantage to individuals managing anxiety, anxiety, and also heart condition. An enhancing number of researches direct to the benefits of yoga for relaxation and also overall wellness. While a great offer a lot more continues to be to be understood, the proof for yoga exercise as part of a healthy and balanced way of living is compelling.
As constantly it is vital that you consult your physician before beginning a new physical fitness program, and also meet the yoga teacher to earn specific that the class is ideal for you.

Why Snapchat is a Powerful Business Tool
This post was originally published on LinkedIn.
Recently, I broke some major company news… on Snapchat.
Using a special lens that made me look like a bunny rabbit and talk in a high-pitched voice, I announced that my company had acquired a tool for tracking social media analytics on Snapchat. The update was a bit silly, but I wanted to prove a point.
Snapchat isn’t just for the kids anymore. The proof? This little video was viewed more than 100,000 times across different networks, drawing thousands of likes and hundreds of comments on social media.
Meanwhile, news quickly spread to mainstream media. The Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, and two dozen other outlets ran stories. It was easily one of the biggest responses to a Hootsuite announcement… ever.
Snapchat’s $20 billion plus IPO earlier this year put it on the radar of lots of people who had dismissed it as a toy for teens. But I think there’s still an exceptional amount of misunderstanding about what Snapchat is and—more importantly—its value for businesses and leaders.
As social media grows increasingly visual (just look at the success of Instagram Stories and Facebook Live, among other examples), tools like Snapchat will only grow more valuable. And despite threats from Instagram, Snapchat’s 18 to 34-year-old user base is extremely loyal: nearly 50 percent don’t use Instagram or Facebook, at all.
I’ve touched previously on why now is the time for businesses to explore Snapchat as a serious marketing and communication platform.
It offers access to a coveted (and shifting) demographic
Snapchat’s 150 million plus users are generally still young compared to Facebook users, who average out at 40 years old in the U.S. And, according to a recent study, teenage social media users now rank Snapchat ahead of Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter as their favorite social network. For brands and media companies forever trying to get tomorrow’s consumers hooked early, Snapchat offers a unique portal.
Beyond that though, more than half of new users signing up to Snapchat are over the age of 25. I’ve seen these shifting user demographics firsthand, with increasing buzz around the network among my own industry peers. An older generation (including me) are slowly but surely getting onboard.
It’s (already) bigger than TV in some ways
Recently, 40 million people tuned in to watch clips of the annual Coachella music festival—on Snapchat. The Story consisted of a short montage of videos taken at the event by users, then curated and broadcast by Snapchat staff via the app. Compare that to the Grammy awards, which recently drew a TV audience of just 20 million viewers.
These numbers hint at a bigger trend: millennials from the ages of 14 to 25 now turn nearly equally to TV and social media as a source of news content. Indeed Snapchat users quietly rack up 10 billion daily video views—rivaling the numbers put up by Facebook and YouTube.
Meanwhile, Snapchat has made deals with ABC, BBC and CBS in recent months to showcase original programming from the networks, right on the app. It’s really no exaggeration to say that Snapchat is the new TV.
It’s probably the most innovative mobile ad platform
Senior ad buyers are starting to advertise on Snapchat more than any other social media site. And with mobile video currently growing faster than any other form of digital advertising in the U.S., Snapchat is uniquely poised to reach users.
Indeed, the network has already earned accolades for raising the bar on mobile advertising. In addition to 10-second vertical video ads that appear between users’ self-generated Stories (daily montages of selfies and videos, shared with followers), brands can tap into next-gen ad formats.
Special geofilters offer branded artwork that users can overlay on their selfies when in certain locations (like a cascade of McDonald’s french fries, an option that might appear when inside McDonald’s restaurants).
Bonus: Download a free guide that reveals how to easily create and use a custom Snapchat geofilter to promote your business for as little as $5.
Meanwhile, sponsored lenses allow users to morph their own faces into, say, a Taco Bell taco, then share pics and videos with friends. (Snapchat also recently unveiled self-serve ad tools so that even small businesses can get in on some of these features.) New analytics tools like the one we just acquired make it easy to measure conversions and ROI on these ads.
It offers the rarest commodity: authenticity
In Snapchat’s very first company blog post in 2012, CEO Evan Spiegel described the company’s mission: “We’re building a photo app that doesn’t conform to unrealistic notions of beauty or perfection but rather creates a space to be funny, honest, or whatever else you might feel like at the moment you take and share a Snap.”
In other words, from the start, Snapchat set out to be a different kind of social network—one that’s less about creating and projecting a polished image or persona (a la Facebook) than just about being authentic.
Staying true to this premise, Snapchat remains the social network where there is the least pressure for people to try and appear perfect. For businesses, it offers a rare vehicle to connect with users on a human level: casually and without pretense, and even with a healthy dose of silly fun. Older social networks have lost a great deal of that innocence and cachet.
This quality is, of course, enhanced by Snapchat’s ephemeral nature, with content disappearing after either a few seconds or a day’s time. (Caveat: Anything you put on the internet can become permanent, so use discretion.)
The enthusiasm among today’s Snapchat users reminds me of the excitement around Facebook a decade ago. Yes, Facebook is replicating lots of Snapchat’s innovative features in an effort to steal its thunder. But there’s something about the freshness of Snapchat that’s hard to copy.
A whopping 156 million people spend a big chunk of their day on the network… and plenty of teens swear by it. Businesses and leaders looking to stay ahead of the curve should probably start to spend some time there, as well.

So Many Hotel Software Systems, So Little Time: How to Choose the Best PMS for Your Needs and Budget - By Jos Schaap
It’s a jungle out there! The jungle of different hotel software solutions has grown very thick, and the competition between vendors on who has the best solution has hardened.  In the vendor section of Hospitality Upgrades’ online portal, there are 15 property management systems from which to choose. There are over 12 PMS providers displayed on the vendor directory of HospitalityNet’s website. The hotel software systems listed on these leading sites are a mere drop in the ocean of property management systems available these days.  According to many industry experts, there are over 100 solution providers that develop, sell and support PMS software systems considered to be at the epicenter of helping hoteliers run their hotels.  So how can Owners, General Managers, and their respective teams determine which property management system is best suited to their unique operational and budgetary needs? There are many factors to consider during the decision-making process, and though some carry more weight than others, it can be an overwhelming decision to make. As the technological landscape evolves, it is important to evaluate whether it is necessary to find a system that mirrors exactly what your current PMS does. There are many new functionalities available in today’s modern solutions that are more valuable than those that your legacy system can offer. On the other hand, if a hotelier does not see any requirement to advance the technological and service elements of their operation, then there is really no reason invest in a new system.  Here are some highlights to help you navigate the journey.   Every new system you invest in should be a cloud system  The world has changed. Long gone are the days where we required a massive cold room on-property to house the primary software and hardware systems of a hotel. The advent of cloud computing has freed hoteliers to implement solutions that are to some extent future-proofed. Every innovative system being developed today is focused on offering the delivery of its platform using the cloud. The reason is quite simple. Cloud-based systems are more reliable, more flexible, more affordable, and have the capability to scale.  Look for simple and intuitive integrations  Older systems have their technological challenges. One of the greatest challenges these legacy systems face is that of integrating with other systems. As new products are developed, and guests demand more technological flexibility, trying to get these emerging solutions connected to older property systems becomes very complicated. The introduction of cloud systems breaks down these barriers whereby even if a hotelier wants to connect fresh and innovative platforms to their primary PMS, they can do so easily and with a minimal amount of friction.  SaaS-based solutions offer better cost structure and ownership  SaaS-based solutions come with low upfront costs because the platform providers take over the asset management portion, and therefore, this reduces the total cost of ownership.  No hardware and no software to install makes the choice to move your hotel’s principal technology to this delivery model very compelling. There are no lengthy contracts with SaaS products, and the updates that are so cumbersome with an on-property system are now automatic - and best of all - they are free as part of your service. The cost will always be an important component of the decision-making process. However, it should never be the primary decision criteria. Make sure that the solution marries itself nicely to your operations, and if it does, the payback will be seen in short order.  Your Cloud PMS needs to enable access from anywhere, anytime  The hotel industry is vibrant and always changing as are the roles of hoteliers and the frontline employees that service today's demanding guests. Hotel staff and executive teams cannot be limited to receiving information only when they are their desks. The capabilities of modern technologies and delivery methods now ensure that all the information a hotelier needs to not only run the hotel at its optimal effectiveness but also deliver amazing guest service is available on their mobile device. Look for features that prioritize communication and mobility. There are also operational efficiencies to be gained by being able to access the hotel PMS on a mobile device. For example, by using a tablet PMS, employees can build relationships with guests by completing the entire check-in process while escorting them to their room or by enabling housekeeping to place a special request on the fly while chatting with a guest in the hall. On many levels, mobile is now essential to the continued success of any hotel.  Make sure the system providers offer their current clients a reliable customer service with 24/hour support.  For most hoteliers, the main area of concern with a property management system is the delivery of unfailing support. It is imperative that any new system you are considering be bundled with 24/7/365 support along with reputable customer service. If you think about it, solutions providers should be held to the same high standards of service that a hotel guest expects from the hotel. We are all in the service industry, whether we are a front desk agent, a General Manager or the CEO of a company that develops and sells systems to hoteliers. We all need to commit to offering outstanding customer service - so make sure that you do reference checks on the service element of the software provider you are contemplating on purchasing. This will substantially reduce any future (costly) headaches.  Of course, many other elements play a role in the decision to commit to a new property management system, but the items listed above are critical for hoteliers to ask of every software provider. The right solution partner must be up to speed on the current challenges facing the hospitality industry and fully prepared to address how future innovations will affect hotel operations.  Making the right choice is never easy with so many vendors to choose from you really must do your homework.   Investing in a new PMS is time-consuming, but implementing the right system for your hotel will take your operations, revenue, and service to the next level.
