How to Groom your Dog at Home
Grooming is an essential aspect of maintaining your dog's health and overall well-being. Regular grooming sessions not only keep your furry friend looking clean and presentable but also help prevent potential health issues, we all know the expenses of going to the Vet so this can be helpful for your financial situation as well. While professional groomers offer expert services, you can save time and money by learning how to groom your dog at home yourself. This article will provide you with a general step-by-step guide to effectively groom your dog in the comfort of your own home
Gather the necessary grooming supplies:
Before starting the grooming process, ensure you have all the essential supplies handy. This includes dog shampoo, conditioner (if applicable), brushes or combs, nail clippers, styptic powder (to stop bleeding in case of a cut), ear cleaning solution, and towels. Having these items readily available will make the process much more convenient. View our pet products at https://www.petstoplay.com/category/grooming for some of these supplies.
Brushing:
Begin by thoroughly brushing your dog's coat to remove any tangles or mats and any other thing that might be in your dogs hair, sadly you probably won't find a pot of gold. Use an appropriate brush or comb based on your dog's breed and coat type. Regular brushing not only keeps the coat clean but also stimulates the skin and promotes healthy hair growth. Be gentle and patient, especially if your dog has long or dense fur.
Bathing:
Once your dog's coat is tangle-free, it's time for a bath. Use lukewarm water and a dog-specific shampoo to prevent skin irritation. Make sure to do a patch test to make sure your dog is not allergic first. Wet your dog's coat and lather the shampoo, paying close attention to areas that tend to get dirty or greasy, such as the paws, underbelly, and behind the ears. Rinse thoroughly to remove all the shampoo, as leftover residue can cause skin irritation.
Drying:
After bathing, gently pat your dog's coat with a towel to remove excess water. Depending on your dog's size and coat thickness, you can use a blow dryer on a low heat setting or a fan if the air temperature is warm enough to aid the drying process. Keep a safe distance from your dog and avoid using high heat to prevent discomfort or burns.
Nail Trimming:
Trimming your dog's nails is an important part of grooming to prevent overgrowth, splitting, or snagging and it helps with that click clack sound on hard floors. Use a dog-specific nail clipper and ensure you don't cut too close to the quick, which is the sensitive part inside the nail. If you accidentally cut the quick and bleeding occurs, apply styptic powder to stop it.
Ear Cleaning:
Regularly cleaning your dog's ears helps prevent infections. Use a dog-specific ear cleaning solution and a cotton ball or pad to gently clean the outer ear canal. Avoid inserting anything deep into the ear canal to prevent injury. If you notice any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge, consult your veterinarian and its recommended not to touch the area until medical attention is received to prevent worsening an infection.
Brushing Teeth:
Maintaining good dental hygiene is crucial for your dog's overall health. Use a dog toothbrush and toothpaste to brush your dog's teeth regularly. Start by introducing toothpaste gradually and reward your dog with treats or praise for cooperation. Brush gently in a circular motion, focusing on the gum line and back teeth. You can also buy chewable products that can clean their teeth online or at your local pet store likely.
Trimming Hair (if necessary):
Certain dog breeds require regular hair trimming around the eyes, paws, or sanitary areas. If applicable to your dog's breed, use blunt-tipped scissors or electric clippers to trim the hair. Take extra care to avoid accidental cuts or injury to your dog's skin.
Grooming your dog at home not only strengthens the bond between you and your pet but also allows you to monitor their overall health which is a very important thing a loving pet owner can do. By following this step-by-step guide, and probably some grooming how to videos from YouTube, you can effectively groom your dog and maintain their cleanliness and well-being. Remember to be patient, gentle, and reward your furry pet throughout the grooming process.

SEVEN DAYS
pairing: akaashi keiji x f!reader
genre: tooth rotting fluff
synopsis: despite the chaos in your busy week, akaashi is always there to remind you that no matter what the inconvenience, he’ll always be there by your side seven days a week one way or another.
Tumblr media
YOU KNOW IT’S MORNING when the golden rays of sunshine filters through the blinds of your shared bedroom with akaashi and you can’t help but mutter a small ‘5 more minutes’ when you feel a hand try and shake your body awake.
“babe it’s 7:20 right now,” he says with a deep chuckle as he rubs his eyes. “we both know that if you fall back asleep now then you’re never gonna wake up again.”
you peek your head out from under the blanket and when you see your boyfriend’s bed head, (that makes him look even more adorable than he already does and you mentally curse him for being able to work a bed head) you find it difficult to shoot back a snarky remark to his comment— and it is proven especially difficult when he’s looking at you with the most love struck expression on his face.
“fine! you win!” you sigh before sitting up, letting the blanket fall down to your lap.
akaashi extends his hand out to fix the strap of your pajama top when he notices that it slipped off your shoulder: to which you thank him by placing a small kiss onto his jawline, causing his lips to curve into a smile.
his hand cups your cheek, which startles you for a moment, but then he gently guides your face closer to his so that he can pull you in for a sensual kiss that leaves your mind feeling fuzzy.
when you two finally pull away and you’re able to recollect your thoughts, a lopsided grin makes its way onto your face and akaashi playfully rolls his eyes as he can practically feel the words that are about to leave your lips in his bones.
“ew morning breath,” you cackle and even though you think that it’s the most ugliest laugh in the world, akaashi thinks that it’s one of his favorite things to hear because it’s your most genuine form of laughter. “you must reaaally be in love with me!”
“i am really in love with you y/n.” he says, deciding to give into your ego for just one day.
“that’s good,” your eyes crinkle as you give him a soft smile. “because i’m really in love with you too.”
“...but don’t think that your love confession is gonna land you an extra 5 minutes of sleep.”
“way to kill the mood keiji!” you pout.
“c’mon let’s go freshen up together.” he says while ushering you out of bed and into the bathroom.
Tumblr media
“no i’m just saying, if you’re gonna bitch about my work being ‘inadequate’ then you should really be worrying about yourself more than other people cause boy do i have some news for you.” you complained as you lathered your hair in shampoo before massaging it into your scalp.
“your co worker... sounds like... a real handful.” akaashi says in between breaks while he’s brushing his teeth.
“that’s what i’m saying— oh! can you pass me my face wash keiji?”
you hear a bit of shuffling before akaashi sticks his arm into the shower from behind the curtain with a bottle in his hand.
“babe...” you push his hand back out. “that’s moisturizer.”
“oh my bad.” he lets out a small ‘oops’ before going back to the cabinet above your sink and maneuvering around your other numerous skincare products, reading all the labels to make sure he grabs the facial wash this time and hands you it.
“thanks!” you’re about to grab the face wash from his hand when an idea suddenly pops into your head.
you quickly twist the shower knob so that the water goes from hot to cold before grabbing his hand, along with your face wash which was still in his hand as well, and pulling it under the water coming from the shower head.
akaashi lets out a shriek as the water practically hits his entire arm while you’re laughing your ass off with your hair in a makeshift bun using the shampoo that was still in your hair.
“y/n!” he yanks his arm out of your grasp and you peek out into the outside world from behind the shower curtain, where you can see akaashi holding his arm to his chest on the other side of the bathroom.
“you’re being such a baby keiji!” you giggle.
“ha ha very funny, you better be careful because who knows,” his lips curl into a mischievous smirk. “after your shower tonight you may or may not have hair afterwards.”
“you wouldn’t!” you gasp dramatically. “don’t nair me, please! i’m sorry!”
you’re gripping onto the shower curtain, spewing out apology after apology while akaashi stands there amused with how you can go from a devious little thing to an apology spitting machine within a just a few seconds.
“i’ll forgive you, but only because i’m a much more mature person than you.” he teases.
“yeah right! remember when i forgot to record your favorite tv show that one time and then you ate all of my snacks the following week?” you try defending yourself as you go back to finish washing your hair.
“no way, that never happened.” he lies straight through his teeth— which you do not appreciate.
“yes it did! i even have the video of you being all whiny to prove my point and if you don’t admit to your actions then i’ll send it to the group chat with bokuto, kuroo, and tsukishima!”
“fine it did happen! just don’t send it to them or else i’ll never hear the end of it,” he puts his hands up in mock surrender before spitting out the rest of the toothpaste in his mouth into the sink and rinsing it out. “i’m trying to keep the cool and aloof persona going you know?”
you snort.
“just imagine when they find out that akaashi keiji isn’t actually the cool guy type they think he is but instead a dorky sap who’s in love with l/n y/n!”
“but i don’t blame you,” you add. “who wouldn’t be in love with me?”
“i sure hope no one is because you’re my girlfriend.” he scoffs.
“ooo possessive, i like that look on you keiji.” your laughter fills the entire bathroom.
“yeah? less talking more washing y/n, it’s 7:55 now.” he reminds you.
“oh shit! why didn’t you tell me before!?” you cry out as you frantically wash out the rest of the shampoo in your hair and rub in some conditioner into the ends of your hair before completely rinsing out the rest of the product in your hair.
“maybe if you weren’t so busy planning to prank me then you would’ve been out of the shower 5 minutes ago.”
“i said i’m sorry!” you wring out all the water in your hair before grabbing a towel to wrap around your entire body and then running into your bedroom to quickly get dressed.
after you slip into some jeans and a loose button up, you sit down in front of your vanity to begin putting on some makeup— but remembering to keep it light enough so that it doesn’t feel heavy over the course of the long day you’re going to have at work.
as you’re about to reach for your concealer, you can see akaashi pop up from behind you in the mirror and you immediately take notice of the blow dryer in his hands.
“want some help? your hair is still wet and i don’t think you want to show up to work with it wet.” he asks as he saunters up to the electrical outlet next to the vanity.
“yes please keiji, you’re a life saver.” you press a chaste kiss onto his cheek before turning around and getting to work on your face.
as akaashi plugs in the blow dryer and begins to dry your hair for you, he makes sure not to ruffle it too much in fear of messing up your makeup and having you re-do it, resulting in you being late for work.
“your fingers feel really nice,” you say out of the blue and just as he’s about to make a sexual comment, you’re quick to interrupt him by adding along to your previous statement. “not in that way idiot, it’s just... i feel like i wanna fall asleep or something.”
“i think that’s the last thing we both want happening.” he jokes which prompts you both to laugh at the same time.
“mhm, i’m just really glad to have you here with me though,” you grin and he catches it when he looks at you through the mirror. “like what boyfriend is willing to blow dry their girlfriend’s hair for them when they’re running late for work?”
“i’m sure there are plenty of other good guys out there.”
“but good thing i have the one and only akaashi keiji all to myself.” you smile sheepishly.
“oh and i’m the sap in the relationship? i’m starting to think you’re the real sap here.”
“as if! says the guy who practically spews out love confessions for his girlfriend while he’s completely wasted after 2 bottles of beer.” you snicker.
instead of trying to start a banter with you, he decides to focus at the task at hand and finishes drying your hair before turning the blow dryer off and then proceeding to grab a brush and brush your hair out in order to get rid of the knots he created while he was drying it.
"thanks babe!" you give him another kiss, this time on his lips, after he announces that he was finished with your hair.
you spray a bit of perfume on yourself, grab your purse and then slip on a pair of shoes when you get to the front door.
"wait, y/n!" you see akaashi run out of your bedroom and make his way over to you before pulling you in for a hug. “stay safe and call me when you’re done with work alright?”
“yes i will, and ramen tonight? i’ve been craving some and i’ll probably stop by the grocery store today after work so i can pick up some other stuff.” you pull away a bit so that you can look up at his face but still have your arms wrapped around his mid section.
“sounds good, do you want to just come home first and we can just go together?” he starts to sway your bodies back and forth.
“and you can pay for us? deal!” you give the male one last kiss on his lips before slipping away, not giving him the chance to protest (not that he was going to anyways, he would never let you pay for anything while you were in his presence.)
“i love you, have a nice day at work!” was the last thing he heard before you completely shut the door on him.

Wash Day
Tumblr media
What up, what up!! This was spur of the moment type thing but I like it. This was semi request from my writing sister @maddiestundentwritergaines about wanting to know what it would possibly be like if Chris Evans did his girlfriends/fiancé’s hair who was a woman of color. So here we go!______________
Warnings: nothing but fluff from Chris to his melanin goddess
Word count: 1,116
______________
Wash day. The imminent staple in a natural woman’s life, has finally come for me. Lord knows I how much I hate wash day but it’s gotta be done. Gathering up all the essentials for this monthly ritual, jotting down everything in order.
“Shampoo: check. Conditioner: check. Deep conditioner: check. Leave in conditioner: check. And last but not least, hot oil flax seed bottle.” Setting all the bottles down in order on the counter in the master bathroom.
I could never really understand how my boyfriend isn’t tired of me yet, when it comes to me doing this every 2-3 months. Seeing as though we’ve been dating for a few years, he’s gotten used to this ritual. This time I am taking my box braids out, and it’s more time consuming.
Normally Chris would watch me take them out, asking me questions on and on. His curiosity is one of the cutest things ever.
‘Does it hurt?’
‘You have how many braids?!’
‘You gets a workout taking them out huh?’
“Scissors; olive oil, a plastic bag, a T-shirt towel.” I heard a husky voice count out the rest of my objects, which wasn’t mine. I turn around and see Chris standing in the doorway with the things I needed, a sweet smile appeared on my face.
“What are you doing?” I asked curiously, taking my bonnet off my head to let the braids fall. 2 and a half months of itchiness was finally about to be over.
“Helping the future Mrs. Evans take down her braids. I need to get some practice in, now don’t I?” He smiles, placing a sweet kiss on my cheek.
“That you do. All we need now is my denman brush; a rat tail comb, flexi rods and…”
“Your yellow bird blow dryer. See? I do pay attention, I got my baby.” He winked at me before sitting on the bench in front of our bed to help cut the braids.
I am so proud. He really does pay attention to me after all. Fanning the fake tears from my eyes, I let out a sweet chuckle at his eye roll.
Sitting in between his legs, I felt secure as he remembered how long my natural hair is, hearing the shears snip at the braids. Of course I helped so he wouldn’t cut my real hair, and it was smooth sailing from there.
Fifteen minutes or so passed, and all 60 braids were cut at mid back, ready to be taken down with the comb. We started to talking to pass the time.
“Ok Evans, I gotta ask you something.” Flipping through the Netflix list, getting bored with the list, I switched and headed for the YouTube list through Apple TV. Looking for music to play to make this go faster.
He had started detangling 4 braids with the rat tail comb, and scratched at the area where it was loose. Making my eyes close in relaxation, and a small groan escaped my lips. This man and his fingers are magical.
“What’s up? I take it that feels good?” The smirk can be heard from him as he continued his task.
“Y-Yes I do. You never wash my hair or take the styles out, so why the sudden interest?” I bit my lip and purred again, leaning my head back to look up at him.
“Well my sweet sunflower, I wanted to do this for you for a change. I see how much you struggle, and I wanted to help for a change. And the videos saved in one of my YouTube lists helped a ton.”
He placed a loving kiss on my head, causing me to giggle.
“You went all out for this huh? You my friend- oh my goodness please don’t stop.” I groaned again and closed my eyes, feeling my right leg shake.
“Sheesh ok ok. You look like Dodger when he gets his belly rubbed.” He let out a hearty laugh, scratching my head at the same time as I took the other braids down. Shaking my curls freely, I felt free from the tightness.
An hour went by and all the braiding hair was out; I had gunk of hair gel in my hair still, my edges were dried and I looked like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket.
“Time to wash this lion's mane of hair. Wanna help me wash it too?” Standing in the shower in a sports bra and shorts, the water was heating up.
“Don’t mind if I do. Hell, I’ll join you too, maybe some music it set the mood.” He stepped into the shower in a pair of red and white swim shorts, upon turning on Spotify through the bathroom speakers on his phone.
The lustrous sounds of R&B music filled the bathroom, getting me in the mood, and he of course finding the rhythm. He never ceases to amaze me.
His fingers lathers the Whole Blends shampoo, cocoa butter and coconut oil, into my coarse and thick curls to get rid of all the mess out my hair.
The bonding moment was nice for us both as I washed his hair this time, Old Spice Swagger to be exact, he bent down for my to wash it out. Stealing kisses every now and then.
Swaying to the music together and finally putting in the detangling product in my hair, a weight lift off my shoulders as my hair felt alive. Grabbing the towels to dry our hair, he sat me in the vanity chair; detangles the rest of my hair with the leave in and wraps it in a plastic cap for me.
“What am I gonna do with you? You take my hair down; scratch my head, wash my hair and now you're letting the leave in set. I think I wanna marry you.” I teased him as he smiled back at me in the mirror.
“Well you’re halfway there sweet thing. I think this is your song.” He turned the volume up on his phone a tad, and As I Am by H.E.R echoed off the walls, having me dancing in my seat. Of course I had to get up to show my moves.
“Does the white boy have rhythm?” I challenged him with a smirk.
“Wanna test that theory?” He returned the smirk.
Grabbing his hands to dance with me, after he set down the flexi rods, made the moment even more enjoyable for us. Having me grind on him was something he craved more than Cool Ranch Doritos, and it made it all the while.
If this is what I get when I marry him, I think I’ll keep him.

Hi! Cosmetic chem is super cool and I'm a bit sadangry I never knew about the corporate assholeyness part. Could we get that list of not-bad products? Also could I get a breakdown of when you should use a conditioner? I got a bar shampoo from Lush a while back and the associate told me I didn't even need conditioner with it and that I should blowdry on warm (not hot) while scrunching with a dry washcloth to make my (short) hair soft and fluffy and it works, but why? Is there a better way still?
When you use conditioner all comes down to your hair type and what results you want. I have very curly hair, and curly hair tends to be naturally dry because the oil from the scalp has trouble navigating to the ends of the strands because they’re spiral shaped. Because of this, I only wash my hair once a week. My routine is pretty much all conditioners and oils and just one shampoo. So that’s very moisturizing, and may not be best if you have straight hair. If you do have straight hair, I do recommend conditioning every time you shampoo anyway (but never wash your hair every day, as you’re not allowing your natural sebum to keep your scalp and hair healthy) but you don’t have to do any other deep moisturizing things, unless you want to do a deep conditioner once in awhile. Since your hair is short, your sebum is going to have less trouble getting to the end of your strands, meaning your hair is going to be well moisturized so you won’t need to add a lot of product.
A shampoo bar with no conditioner, blow-drying, and being scrunched with a washcloth sounds, to me, a bit drying. If it’s working though, that’s great. However, what shampoo does is make our hair electrically charged, meaning the hairs are repelling each other, while it breaks down the oil and buildup on our scalp. Conditioner neutralizes this charge, so it restores moisture, prevents breakage, and prevents static and frizz. So in my opinion, a good silicone free conditioner is important, no matter what your texture is.
A blow-dryer isn’t the worst thing in the world if you’ve got straight hair, but I’d recommend using it on cool, although that does take longer. If you’ve got curly hair and you want to blow dry, I’d definitely recommend getting a diffuser to prevent frizz and distribute the air more evenly. If you dry on warm, take the fan setting down so it’s very gentle.
As for the washcloth, the only issue with those is that they have these things called terry cloth fibers, which are very harsh, big fibers that can cause breakage. You can get microfiber towels at any store in the multicultural hair section, but a cheaper alternative is to just scrunch with an old t-shirt. Anything with soft cotton will scrunch your hair without damage.
I don’t know you very well so I can’t guarantee the reason it’s working for you, but chances are it may be drying your hair which makes it appear fluffy. Over time, though, the fluffiness may turn to brittleness. If you want a soft and fluffy look, I’d recommend the shampoo and a lightweight conditioner. If you’ve got curly hair, a light curling cream can also help make it fluffy, or a light leave-in conditioner. Sometimes sea salt sprays, which you can get at any drugstore or beauty store, can add a bit of texture and fluffiness, but spraying a bunch in your hair everyday will dry it out, so it’s definitely something to do in moderation. And again, it all depends on your hair type. Sometimes this sort of thing is trial and error, finding what works. But I think a light conditioner and being gentler with your hair will keep it soft and fluffy, and for much longer. Avoiding silicones will aid in achieving the look you want because silicones generally build up on your hair and weigh it down, which leads to gunky, flat hair. This is with the exception of those water soluble silicones I mentioned, but I don’t know anything about those yet except that they’re water soluble, so I can’t say much there.
I was going to give you a breakdown of products but I got overwhelmed since a lot of it depends on your hair type. Plus, I’m afraid that if I recommend something, it will end up having an ingredient I missed or it will have changed its formula since I last used it/looked at it, and knowing tumblr I’d probably get anon hate for that. So I would say researching some would be your best bet, or researching the ingredients to avoid and then checking the bottles. I will say my favorite drugstore brand is Shea Moisture, and I don’t think they’ve done anything funky with their formula recently as their brand hinges on lacking those harmful ingredients. They’re a little pricier but not horribly. I think most of their stuff is worth it. Plus it’s not tested on animals, which I know can be very important in some people’s decisions on whether or not they purchase something. They make hair care, skincare, and cosmetics, and can be found at almost any store, including Walmart. Also, Suave has a Naturals line and the coconut conditioner is silicone free. I don’t know about the rest of the line though. But hey, it’s $2, which is a good deal for 30 fl. oz. I’m thinking of buying that soon to replace my current conditioner.
As with anything, be skeptical and do your own research as well. Science is always changing and evolving and it’s good to be as informed as possible. I definitely am not an expert and am still learning about cosmetic chemistry, so taking everything with a grain of salt and fact checking me is what the scientific method is all about. If you’re into youtube videos, the two youtubers BiancaReneeToday and CurlyPenny give good advice, in my opinion, but fact check them too, because extra knowledge and confirmation never hurt.

6 Steps To Super Sleek Stylish Hair
Whether you want to look great for a party and have all afternoon to get ready, or just want to smarten up before a meeting, there are things to do to get your hair looking great and give your confidence a real boost. Super Hair Tip Number 1: Shampoo properly. By this, I mean that you should invest in a top quality salon shampoo that matches your hair type, if you have coloured hair, make sure that the formulation of your shampoo is suitable, likewise if your hair is thin, greasy, blonde, or brunette, talk to your stylist, and get them to advise you on what they think is best. Too many people simply pick something off the supermarket shelf and home for the best, when what they really need is a shampoo that suits them. Super Hair Tip Number 2: Condition deeply. Hair conditioners have a formulation that will add body and shine to your hair. You know how uncomfortable and scratchy clothes are if you don’t use a fabric conditioner, well hair is the same. Also, a good conditioner will help to keep your hair static free, which will reduce frizziness even more. Massage the conditioner from root to tip and leave it to work its magic and make your hair look really healthy and shiny before rinsing it thoroughly. Super Hair Tip Number 3: Dry your hair well. Modern hair dryers will not harm your hair as much as they used to, but if you are going to use a blow dryer to get your hair dry quickly, make sure you keep it moving over your hair and dry it evenly to avoid overheating. If you have the time, use the dryer on a cool setting to avoid damage. Super Hair Tip Number 4: Use a good Serum. There are a huge variety of great products around that are designed to smooth your hair. Most salons will be able to point you in the direction of a serum such as Frizz-ease that will help to keep your hair looking great. Generally hair serums work in three ways, by relaxing the hair, smoothing it, and reducing the potential for it to attract the static electricity that will cause it to frizz up. Super Hair Tip Number 5: Use good quality hair straighteners. Most people find that the cheaper hair straighteners do not do a very good job. You might find that they do not get hot enough to iron out the kinks properly on a single pass, and are not slippery enough to allow your hair to pass through smoothly. Opt for ceramic or glass heating plates, and make sure that there is an adjustable temperature. GHD straighteners are the one of the most popular brands around and ae commonly used in salons all around the world. Their plates get hot fast, and are extra smooth to make styling your hair easy, all of which makes them a real favourite in salons around the world. Ceramic plates will help discharge the static electricity from your hair too, and leave it looking straight for longer. Super Hair Tip Number 6: Eat well. Your hair is nourished by what you eat and drink, and will never look good if you don’t eat a balanced diet with lots of vitamins and minerals. Hair is mostly made of protein, so make sure your diet includes plenty. Drink water too, as this will flush impurities out of your body and keep you healthy.

How to Bathe a Cat?
The ancestors of cats came from the desert, and they didn't like bathing by nature. The fear of water, the fear of the sound of water, the aversion to wetting the whole body, the aversion to the noise of the hair dryer, etc., made it more difficult for cats to bathe.
Why bathe the cat
1. In order to keep cats in good hygiene. Licking can't replace bathing, and it won't be as good as bathing.
2. Ensure the health of cat skin and detect skin diseases in time. After washing, you can detect abnormalities in the skin during the process of drying hair.
3. Ensure the health of people, reducing cat hairs fly all over the sky. Some cats are sleeping in the bed every day. Raising a clean cat is good for him and you.
How to bathe a cat
Step1
Cut nails
Step2
Fully wet the cat body first, and then applies the pet-specific bath lotion.
Different shower gels are used in different ways. Some are to dilute the shower gels with water, and some are to coat the cat's hair directly after the body is wetted. See the instructions for details.
Step3
Knead the limbs, belly, tail, back, and top of the head in order. Because the limbs and belly are the dirtiest, we must first rub them.
Step4
Rinse the shampoo. You can open the shower head first when flushing. After the water temperature is OK, quickly stick the shower head on the cat, and then move it slowly, so that the shower gel can be completely washed clean, and the cat will not be annoyed by water sound. When washing to the head, you can wrap the cat’s ears with your hands to avoid water ingress.
Step5
Can repeat Step2 if it is too dirty.
Step6
The conditioner is very necessary because the body soap will wash off the cat’s body oil. The conditioner is equivalent to a layer of protective film on the skin and hair. The steps are the same as the body wash.
Step7
After rinsing, use a super absorbent towel to dry it immediately, the drier the better. The drier the cat and the shorter the drying time, the less chance the cat will catch a cold.
Step10
Use a high-power electric hair dryer to blow it. The windy one is better. If the temperature is too high, it will burn the cat. Cats don’t like too hot wind. You can turn on the hair dryer first, and then slowly move the hair dryer vent to the cat, from far to near. If the cat is very afraid of the hair dryer, you can keep the cat in a relatively small cage, keep the hair dryer away from the cat, and blow slowly. The distance is based on the cat in the cage without panic.
It must be 100% dry. Many people just think that 90% dry is enough, which can easily cause cat moss, especially for long-haired cats.

Hair loves oily? You may have made these mistakes while washing your hair
The hair that has just been washed is faintly shiny, wash it or not? If you don't wash your hair, you don't dare to see people. If you wash your hair frequently, you fall into a vicious circle that gets more and more oily.
According to surveys, more than 60% of people think that their hair is more oily than before. Oil and dandruff have become the main reasons why they frequently wash their hair.
Did you know that the wrong way of shampooing and conditioning can make your hair worse and worse?????
   Three reasons make hair oily
   1. Greasy eating and staying up late
Eating greasy and spicy food will stimulate the secretion of sebaceous glands; staying up late, playing computer for a long time, fast-paced life, high-intensity work pressure, etc., will affect the body's endocrine system and aggravate the oily scalp.
   2. Wash your hair too often or too little
Sebum is secreted based on information feedback. After frequent shampooing to wash the oil on the scalp, the sebum will receive the message of "lack of oil", and then further secrete oil, which will lead to more and more secretions, and the hair becomes more and more oily.
   3. Wrong choice of washing products
Some shampoos may not have good fat removal or fat control effects, but more moisturizing effects. This not only can't control the oil, on the contrary, the moisturizing ingredients will aggravate the oil.
   10 common mistakes of shampooing
   1. Wash directly without combing
When washing hair, it is very important to wash the scalp. If you rinse directly, the dust and dirt on the scalp will adhere to it, and it will not be thoroughly cleaned.
Suggestion: Before washing your hair, comb your hair with a wide-toothed, round-headed comb, and then rinse it with water. Not only can you reduce the amount of shampoo, it can also reduce the irritation to the scalp.
   2. Scrape the scalp with your nails
Many people find it very comfortable to scratch the scalp with their nails when washing their hair. As everyone knows, there are many bacteria hidden in the nails. Once the scalp is scratched, it is easy to induce infections, folliculitis and other skin diseases.
Suggestion: When washing your hair, draw a circle and gently rub the scalp with your fingertips to smooth the hair.
   3. Apply shampoo if your hair is not wet
Apply shampoo as soon as the hair is soaked. This will cause incomplete washing or knotting, leaving dirt and dandruff in the hair.
Suggestion: Rinse for about 1 minute before applying shampoo.
   4. Wipe the shampoo directly on the head
Many people ask for quickness and save trouble, so they just apply shampoo to their hair.
Since the shampoo does not have sufficient contact with water and directly contacts the scalp without saponification, it will not only irritate the scalp, but may also cause abnormal hair loss in the long term.
Suggestion: Pour the shampoo in the palm of your hand, add water to foam and apply it to your hair. Not only will the foam be rich, but the hair will also be washed more cleanly.
   5. Apply the conditioner on the scalp
Conditioner is a cleaning product specifically for hair. If it is applied to the scalp, the chemicals in it can easily block the hair follicles and cause hair loss and other problems.
Recommendation: Apply the conditioner at least 1-2 cm away from the scalp, and apply it to the tips of the hair along the ears.
   6. The conditioner stays for too long
If the conditioner is applied for too long, not only will it fail to protect the hair, but it will also easily leave it in the hair, making it difficult to clean and causing hair loss and other problems.
Suggestion: After applying the conditioner, wring out the towel soaked in hot water and let it cool for a few seconds, then wrap the hair and rinse off after 3 minutes. This allows the conditioner to be better absorbed by the hair and repair damaged hair.    7. Rinse the hair spin with a strong water jet (sparse hair)    Hair spin is the "core zone" where the hair and the scalp are most closely connected. If rinsed with a strong water jet, it is easy to damage the scalp, accelerate hair fall, and even cause alopecia areata.
Suggestion: When washing your hair, the water flow should be slow, and the washing time should not be too long for hair swirling and sparse hair.   8. Wash your hair with hot water    Many people who have a lot of dandruff and itchy scalp like to wash their hair with higher temperature water.
In fact, too high water temperature can easily take away too much oil in the scalp, which will not only damage the hair, but also make the scalp oily and cause dandruff more serious.  Suggestion: The water temperature for washing hair should be 40℃.   9. The rinse is not clean    Some people think that the hair should just be flushed, it doesn't matter if some conditioner is left, it can also moisturize the hair. In fact, the remaining conditioner can easily adhere to dust and other debris, adhere to the surface of the hair or even the scalp, clog pores and cause inflammation.   Suggestion: When washing your hair, you must pay attention to the final rinse, and wash your hair well and thoroughly.    10. Use a hair dryer directly after washing    In order to dry the hair quickly, some people use a hair dryer directly after washing their hair. This will damage the hair scales, cause moisture loss, and make the hair yellow and dry.    Suggestion: Let it dry naturally after shampooing. If you must blow dry as soon as possible, it is best to choose cold air to reduce damage, and keep the hair dryer about 15 cm away from the hair.

Please check this link.

The Guinean Peace Corps Guide to Packing
This list obviously isn’t perfect, but I’m sure if you’ve stumbled onto this blog post you’re looking for a good Peace Corps packing list, especially if you’ve just been accepted to Guinea and you’re getting ready to leave. I’m currently in my 6th month of living in Guinea and I’ve received a few things from home along the way.
Just as a reminder, you’re technically only allowed two large suitcases, at 50lbs each for the trip. However, I knew some people who paid extra for another bag, and, looking back, I should have just done that. It would have saved me and a lot of people at home money on the expensive overseas shipping to Conakry.
Things I packed:
Clothes
a note about clothes, try to get things that are quick dry or make for an active lifestyle. You will be washing your clothes by hand and you’ll want things that are very easy to clean, don’t show dirt, and don’t hold smells. I suggest Lululemon, Athleta, Patagonia, and those kind of brands. You can find cheaper and discounted clothes online at backcountry.com and Sierra Trading Post (also a great place to find any of the camping or hiking gear listed on here). You  can also check out TJMaxx and Marshalls. Also, you’re going to get clothes made here and people are always leaving stuff “up for grabs” at the regional houses, so don’t pack too much clothes wise.
For girls, I will say, error on the side of caution when it comes to shorts, skirts, and tops. You can always cut things or have them tailored but where I live is pretty conservative and as much as I hate it, I wouldn’t be caught dead walking out of my house in a thin strap tank top.
3 pairs of pants that youcould wear in an office setting but also wear hiking (try Athleta for these)
1 pair of hiking or durable pants that you don’t mine messing up- I use mine to garden
1 pair of black leggings
2 pairs of running/workout leggings
3 pairs of shorts (try to  make them longer/knee length)
2 pairs of compression     shorts/spandex
1 pair of jeans
5 or 6 nice shirts (at least one long sleeved one, I promise there are places that it does get cold here)
2 or 3 tank tops
5 casual t-shirts/workout shirts
2 skirts (well past the knee and flowly)
3 day dresses
1 or 2 nice dresses (but not heavy or thick, the place where you train for three months is very hot)
10 pairs of underwear (check out ExOfficio for great travel underwear)
6 sports bras
2 or 3 regular bras
2 or 3 pairs of hiking/thick socks
7 pairs of regular running socks
1 pair of Chacos or tevas (I live in these shoes)
1 pair of running shoes
Hiking boots or closed toed shoes with a very good grip (the only real tourist thing to do in Guinea is hiking and you will definitely use them. I also use mine when gardening)
1 or 2 bathing suits (these are hard to find in Guinea)
1 good durable raincoat
1 lightweight jacket
1 sweatshirt
1 sweater/cardigan
Other wearables:
A good hat
Cheap sunglasses (you can buy more here and I’ve already broken three pairs)
Two scarves
HAIR TIES
Non-valuable jewelry if you  like that sort of thing
A good backpack
A small foldable bag for market days
A purse
A small cross-body purse
 Electronics:
INSURANCE INSURANCE INSURANCE     (Clements Worldwide is the one I use. It was $150 for a year but it saved     my life when I got robbed during training and was reimbursed almost $2,000     for the stuff stolen
My Macbook
A kindle or tablet- I use     mine every day
An iPod (I also brought my     old iPod touch in the case that I got robbed… it was definitely a smart     move)
A smartphone (MAKE SURE YOU     CAN REMOVE THE SIM CARD AND PUT IN A DIFFERENT CARRIERS SIM… I had a lot     of friends have issues with that because they were tied to Sprint or     another carrier that had the phone locked)
A lifeproof or otterbox case     for the phone
A rechargeable external     battery
A solar battery charger for     phones (I recommend DragonX brand)
2 Luci Lights (look it up,     it’s a solar light)
2 headlamps
4 power adapters/converters
A surge protector- trust me,     my iPhone died my first month because there was a power surge and it fried     my phone
Multiple charging cables for     anything USB related
Three pairs of good earbud     headphones
An external hardrive (2TB)     (mine has hundreds of movies, tv shows, and workout episodes on it. I     highly recommend this)
A digital watch
  Home and Kitchen
Scrubba Wash Bag (look it up,     in my opinion it makes doing laundry here a lot easier)
Duct Tape (if you forget     everything else, remember to bring duct tape)
Electrical tape
Can opener- trust me on this     one
Garlic press
A few good kitchen knives
Thin, plastic cutting boards
Three quick dry towels
Compressable pillow (I     recommend ThermaRest brand)
An all purpose tool
Toiletries
Shampoo and conditioner     (Seriously, you will want this. I ran out of both during training and     there was no place to buy either of them where we were. You can also try     LUSH bars, solid shampoo and conditioners, expensive but worth it.)
Dr. Bronner’s All Purpose     Soap
Toothbrusth and toothpaste
Facial toner and cleaner
Face wash
Hairbrush
Lotion
Sunscreen (you are given some     but I’ve found it clogs the pores in my face)
Basic makeup: eyeliner,     mascara, lipstick, coverup, blush, and a small thing of eyeshadow.
Tweezers
Your favorite nailpolish
Headbands
Deodorant
Razors
Nail clippers
File
Alcohol wipes or a small     bottle of alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.. Peace Corps doesn’t issue this     and this has definitely saved me from infections a few times
Medical tape
For girls, Diva Cups (they will save you from using the crappy tampons medical gives us and keep you from having to buy pads, which are expensive)
Baby powder
Hairbrush
Mini bottles of travel hand sanitizer
Mouthwash
A few toothbrushes and a toothbrush top
 Other Gear
A really good pocket knife
A few pens
Colored markers or crayons
A mini stapler
Rubberbands
A portable mini safe (I use mine here and just wrap it around the table leg. I keep all my extra money, my passports, and my credit cards in there.)
A mini sewing kit
At least two Nalgene water bottles
Liquid chalk markers (are cool for writing things on your walls and for using in the classroom)
Hair cutting scissors (multiple uses and of course, for cutting your hair)
Tape measurer
Wooden clothespins
  Things I wish I brought:
My Birkenstocks or my Rainbow     flipflops
A nice travel yoga mat
A nicer pair of dressy  sandals
More packets of dried food (knorr pasta sides, etc.)
Cliff bars, energy bars, etc.
Tuna packets (you can find sardines here but tuna is almost 3 dollars a can)
Workout gear
More photos of my family and friends
A small projector (I got one brought over for me and cost me 85USD. It’s perfect for movie nights and doing presentations)
Lots of charging cables
A small and light extension cord
Small fan (you can also get decent ones here when you get ready to move to site, but not having one during training was brutal)
Essential oils (can be used to do all sorts of things, especially when it comes to repelling bugs)
A good set of twin sized bed sheets. (SHEETS ARE EXPENSIVE and the sheets here not always that comfortable. Dig up your bedsheets from freshman year of college and bring them along)
Here’s a list of things you can totally live without, but are nice to have:
 For the Cook in You:
Rennet tablets (for cheese     making- a project I’m still learning how to prefect)
A scoby to use to start making your own kombucha
Lots and lots of spices (you can buy them here but they’re expensive)
Measuring cups and measuring spoons
A small KitchenAid type  handmixer and blender
A mini mortar and pestle
Beeswax
Cheesecloth
Small bottle of Truffle oil
Peanut butter
Lots of water flavoring or     Gatorade packets
Oatmeal packets, dried food     packets
Dried cheese powder (cheese     isn’t a thing here and you’ll miss it more than you realize)
Bottle opener and wine opener
Any snacks you can think of     that you can eat without preparation (training is rough when it comes to     food verity, I legit ate a can of green peas once because all I wanted was     something besides rice and sauce)
 For the Workout Fanatic:
Soccer ball (I had a deflated     one sent to me, just add it to a care package list you won’t want to take     this with you)
Soccer cleats
Soccer socks
Resistance bands
Yoga mat
Arm band for iPod or phone     for music
 For the Gardener:
A good pair of gardening     gloves
Packets of all kinds of seeds
A small hand shovel and small     hand rake
  For the Hiker and Camper:
A hammock with a mosquito net     or a small tent
Carabineer clips
An ultralight sleeping pad
Compressable pillow (I     recommend ThermaRest brand)
Moleskin for blisters
A dry bag to store your stuff     when it rains
A steripen for water
 For the Future Pet Owner:
*I got a kitten in Guinea and it was the first thing I did when I got to site. If you’re preparing to get yourself a furry friend, here’s a number of things you’ll want because buying anything pet related in country is super expensive
Cat or dog collar
Flea collar or medication
Small toys for them
Deworming medication
Things you can leave at home or could buy in Guinea:
High-heels. Trust me on this. You will never wear them (except maybe at Swear-In, but if you want there     are places to find cheap heels here.) Save the space in your bag.
Most kitchen utensils (but I  would suggest bringing at least one fork and one spoon)
A lot of books- theres lots     of them here at the regional houses and if you bring a kindle or tablet,     you can buy more or trade kindle books with other volunteers
A portable camping shower     (you’ll get use to bucket baths and trying to set it up was much more     effort than it was worth.)
A hair straightener and mini     blow dryer. (You won’t use them)
That’s all I’ve got for you! I hope this list helps and if anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me or shoot me a message!

6 Steps to Super Sleek Stylish Hair
Whether you want to look great for a party and have all afternoon to get ready, or just want to smarten up before a meeting, there are things to do to get your hair looking great and give your confidence a real boost.
Super Hair Tip Number 1:
Shampoo properly.

Static hair (also know as run away hair or fly away hair) is a condition where your hair becomes electrically charged and stands on end. The 'sciencey' bit is pretty simple: when two objects of different electrical charges rub against each other, their ions transfer causing them to take on a positive or negative charge. Similarly, when hair strands gain a positive charge, they repel each other. Over styling, over drying and harsh chemicals in hair care products often leave your hair lifeless, dry and dull but also prone to static charge. Controlling static hair can be hugely frustrating as brushing and combing can often make things worse. If you have ever wondered how to get rid of static hair, then we've got you covered. Our home remedies to get rid of static hair tell you all you need to know to bring your hair back under control.
How to get rid of static hair
1. Reduce the Use of Hair Dryer Hair dryers pump out hot dry air. The hot air cascades down across your strands of hair. Hot, excited air is much more likely to transfer charge. If you want a mechanism for dispersing static charge to you hair, then this is it. In fact, the only thing thats better for charging your hair is rubbing a balloon against your head. If you want to know how to get rid of static hair, then a good place to start is reducing the use of the hair dryer. As a compromise, partially dry your hair using a dryer; then let your hair dry naturally to finish off. 2. Use an ionic hair dryer Ionic hair dryers are fantastic for getting rid of static hair. Don't be put off by the space age name as they really are the ultimate static hair solution. If you have static hair, your hair will have a positive charge. A ionic hairdryer pumps out air with a negative charge. (1) A positive plus a negative cancel out. You can figure the rest out. Another benefit of the ionic hair dryer is that the negative charge breaks down water molecules on the hair into smaller drops so you hair dries faster. Also, conditioners and other hair products adhere to the hair strands much better when they have negative or no charge. Hair products work much better with a ionic hairdryer. 3. Mist Your Hair with Water Water reduces the build up of static charges. On humid days, most materials will absorb a certain amount of water. Some materials will even develop a thin layer of water across the surface. Hair is no different. Since water is conductive, the presence of water on your hair allows any built-up charge to dissipate back into your body or out into the air. Spray some water mist over your hair whenever you experience static. This is an instant fix but its effect goes away as the hair dries and more charge can then build up. 4. Keep a Dryer Sheet Handy Objects lying around will over time pick up charge from their surroundings. Wrap your comb in a dryer sheet when not in use, and also after using it. By doing this you will be able to avoid static charge build up. You can use the dryer sheet directly on your hair. Gently stroke your hair with the sheet to remove the static charge. The misbehaving strands will quickly fall back into line. Use it on your pillow before you go to bed to control static hair while you sleep. You can even use them on your clothes to avoid static on clothes. 5. Humidifier Water vapor conducts electrical charge. The more humidity in the air, the more the charged ions in your hair will dissipate into the room or into your body. If you use a humidifier in the room, the increased humidity will not only prevent damage  due to dry hair, but also it will eliminate static hair. If you don't want to buy an expensive humidifier, you can try drying your hair in bathroom just after you have finished your shower. The air will still be moist and less static energy will build up as you dry. 6. Shoes Have you ever had an electric shock just by touching a metal railing or bannister? Or perhaps from opening a car door? This static shock happens because your entire body has built up an electric charge and this charge is just waiting for the opportunity to discharge back to earth Wearing rubber soled shoes is often the culprit. The rubber soles prevent the charge from flowing back to earth. If your body builds up too large a charge, you get a nasty shock when you touch something metal that is earthed. Charged objects with the same charge repel each other. Your hair is no different. If your body becomes charged, so does your hair. As individual strands become charged, they start to move away from each other, et voila! you have a static hair problem! If you want to know how to get rid of static hair, ditch the rubber soles. 7. Metal Comb We know that rubbing a rubber balloon on your head causes static hair. Combing your hair with a plastic comb is not much different. Plastic combs quickly transfer charge to your hair, leaving you to deal with a bad hair day. Try using a metal comb. Any charge created by combing will quickly flow back through the comb into your body and down to earth. There will be no static build up. 8. Comb Wet Hair The action of combing your hair and the friction it causes builds up of charge. When you hair is wet, charge is easily dissipated and cannot build up. Brush your hair with a metal comb. If you don't have a metal comb, then comb your hair only when it is wet. This is a great static hair solution. If your hair is dry, spray some water and then comb. 7. Use Moisturizer Moisturizer will leave a thin layer or product on the outer surface of the hair, locking in moisture for your hair. The moisturizer layer and the trapped water acts like a lighting conductor, sending positive charge build back down the hair strand into your head. Apply moisturizer every time you shampoo your hair. Note - For best results, use silicon-based moisturizer. 9. Hair Serum Apply serum to prevent loss of moisture from hair. Hair that retains moisture does not build up a static charge. Take 3-5 drops of serum on palms and rub them together. Apply on your strands. 10. Anti-Frizz Cream Take a dollop of anti-frizz cream on your palms. Apply it on your hair. Note - Avoid applying anti-frizz cream in large quantities as this may leave hair looking flat when it is mixed with natural oils already present in your hair. 12. Hair Oil Massage your hair with oil it is dried. Hair oil will allow any potential charge in your hair to dissipate back into your body. This will neutralize the static charge and make your strands manageable.
Do’s
Maintain a gap of 48 hours between washing your hair with shampoo.
Utilize a wide toothed comb instead of a regular one to detangle your hair.
Keep your hair moisturized by regular application of conditioner after washing with shampoo.
Go for hair spa once a month.
Don’ts
Do not over dry your hair using blow dryers.
Do not make use of excessive hair styling products like gels, sprays and shampoos.

Basic Grooming Tips From A Dog Grooming Professional
Do you have a new puppy or rescue dog and want to learn some basic grooming? Maybe you’re tired of paying groomers and want to try grooming your dog at home. Whatever the case may be, I was a dog groomer for more than 12 years, and now I’m a writer who grooms her dog at home. I have a lot of experience to share, and I hope to help with just the basics here – the all-important when, why, and how – as well as addressing some of the difficulties faced by most people new to the dog grooming world.

Basic Grooming
The most important thing to remember is that you want your dog to enjoy – or at least not hate – the grooming process. Start slowly, with one thing at a time, and be sure to give your dog plenty of treats during and after each task.
For the part your dog hates the most (usually the blow dryer), I would suggest you save your dog’s favorite treat and ONLY give it to them after you’re done. You will find they have the motivation to tolerate that part of the process because they know their favorite treat is coming and that’s the only time they get to enjoy it.
I just rescued my dog a few months ago, and he hates the entire grooming process, so I break things up into smaller pieces and do everything over several days. On day one, I’ll trim his nails, brush him, and maybe shave his potty areas. The next day, I’ll give him a bath, which he REALLY hates. Then I do the full haircut the next day, leaving just the feet and more difficult to reach places for the following day. Breaking the grooming process up into several different sessions has been a lifesaver; it truly makes it more tolerable for him.

Nails
Nail trimming is one part of grooming that every dog needs. Long nails can cause problems walking, arthritis, and the nail can even curve into the pad of the dog’s foot. Imagine how uncomfortable it must be to have something poking your foot ALL the time and how painful each step must be!
In general, you should plan on trimming your dog’s nails once a month. Some dogs will need more- or less-frequent nail trimming.
For example, large dogs that walk on sidewalks or asphalt more than an hour every day often wear down their nails and need little trimming apart from their dew claws (that’s the little claw halfway up the side of the paw). Small dogs tend to go for shorter walks and need nail trimming every couple of weeks.
As you may already know, dogs have a vein in their nails called a quick that will bleed and hurt if you cut it too short. In dogs that don’t get their nails cut frequently enough, the vein can grow very long, so you can only take a little bit off at a time. If that’s the case, you should trim a little bit off your dog’s nails every week to encourage the vein to shrink back into the nail. A grinder is best for this.
If you use dog nail clippers, the easiest way to cut your dog’s nails is to position your dog in a way where you can flip their paw back and look at the underside. Trim a little bit at a time.
In dogs with white nails, you can see the quick inside the nail and know where to cut. For black nails, cut off a little bit at a time. You will see a tiny black dot surrounded by white when you get close to the quick. That’s how you know to stop.
Nail grinders are a great way to get your dog’s nails short and smooth with less risk of cutting the quick. Nail grinders can be loud, so you may need to introduce it to your dog slowly. Use the same process to take off a little bit at a time until you see the dot in the middle of the nail showing that you’ve gone short enough.
You can purchase styptic powder and keep it handy to stop bleeding if you trim a nail too short. In a pinch, you can use flour or cornstarch to stop the bleeding.
Brushing
Every dog needs at least occasional brushing. Yes, even your short-haired dog. Most short-haired dogs shed at least a little bit. Using the right brush can remove loose hair and spread your dog’s natural oils through his coat for a healthy shine.
Every coat type requires different brush types, and you should have a metal comb for most coat types. Ideal brushes for each coat type include:

Teeth
Did you know that 80% of dogs have periodontal disease or other dental problems by the time they’re 3 years old? Gum disease is no small matter – it can lead to teeth falling out, abscesses, a broken jaw, heart disease, or even death. That’s right, the bacteria from your dog’s bad teeth can get into their bloodstream and kill them.
You should aim to brush your dog’s teeth every day. If you’ve never brushed your dog’s teeth before, you need to start slowly. Let them sniff and lick the dog toothpaste first (NEVER use human toothpaste), then put the toothpaste on your finger and rub it on the outside of your dog’s teeth. Work your way up to a finger toothbrush and then a dog toothbrush.
For dogs that refuse to let you brush their teeth, there are dental sprays and tooth wipes that can help a little bit. It’s also a good idea to give your dog access to plenty of things to chew on.
https://www.catchkaro.info/2020/05/dog-grooming.html
Bath
Some people never wash their dogs, and some people wash them every week. Ideally, you should aim for something in the middle.
Even short-haired dogs benefit from a bath a few times a year to remove dirt, grime, and excess grease from their coats. Most dogs should be bathed at least every 1-3 months.
Generally, you should try not to bathe your dog more than once a month. If you do, be sure to use a very gentle shampoo made specifically for dogs. Hypoallergenic or oatmeal shampoos are great choices. Overwashing can dry out your dog’s skin and coat, so using a conditioner in addition to a gentle shampoo is a good choice.
No matter how often you bathe your dog, you should always use a shampoo made specifically for dogs. Humans have a different pH than dogs, so human shampoo (even baby shampoo) is too harsh for dog skin.
If you have anything other than a short-haired dog, you should be sure to brush and detangle your dog before the bath. Water makes mats and tangles worse, even if you use conditioner. There are a few exceptions if you have the right tools and knowledge, but trust me when I say you should leave that to the professionals. Brush, trim or shave mats out before washing your dog.
Remember to gather everything you need before you start the bath. That includes cotton balls in your dog’s ear canals to prevent water from getting in, which can lead to an ear infection.
Dogs don’t like the slippery feeling of a sink or bathtub under their feet, so use a bath mat or a towel to give them some traction.
Use lukewarm water. Dogs don’t enjoy hot baths the way people do. Invest in a flexible sprayer attachment if you can – I can tell you from experience that trying to rinse a dog with only a cup is a pain!
When you get your dog wet, start at their back end and work your way forward toward their head. Would you like it if somebody sprayed your face without warning?
As you soap them up, do the same thing and start at their back end and work your way to their face. CAUTION: Many shampoos can damage your dog’s eyes! Be careful to avoid getting shampoo in their eyes, even as you rinse it out. It’s also a good idea to put a bit of saline solution in your dog’s eyes after the bath to rinse out any shampoo that may have gotten in their eyes.
Personally, I use a separate shampoo for my dog’s face than I do for the rest of his body. Something that is super gentle on the face and helps loosen stubborn eye gunk and goop.
Rinse, rinse, and rinse again. When you think you have all the shampoo out, rinse for an additional couple of minutes. It’s too easy to accidentally leave a little shampoo in your dog’s coat, which can cause, at best, unattractive dander flakes, and at worst, skin irritation or infections. Not good.
If you use a hair dryer on your dog, make sure to use a cool setting. Dogs can overheat very easily. Heated dryers also dry out the skin.

Ears, Eyes, And Paws
You should clean out your dog’s ears at least once a month. You can use an ear cleaner made for dogs or witch hazel on a cotton ball. It’s natural to see a little bit of dirt on the cotton ball after swiping the inside of your dog’s ear, but if the cotton ball comes out gunky or stinky, your dog likely has an ear infection and needs a trip to the vet.
Dogs in general and flat-faced breeds, in particular, are prone to eye problems. At least once a week, you should take the time to look at your dog’s eyes. They should be bright and clear with no cloudiness and minimal redness. Tears should be clear. If your dog has colored discharge coming from their eyes (different from the reddish-brown goop that can accumulate from normal tears), they need to go to the vet to check for an infection, injury, or allergies.
Many dog breeds have hair that grows in the corner of their eyes. This needs to be trimmed regularly to prevent it from growing long enough to irritate your dog’s eyes. You can trim it using round-tipped shears, clippers with a #10 blade, or small electric trimmers.
If this makes you uncomfortable, it’s time for a trip to the groomer. If you feel comfortable doing the rest of your dog’s grooming at home, some groomers will accept walk-in appointments for just an eye trim. Call ahead and ask.
Most dogs grow hair between the pads on the bottoms of their feet. When this hair gets long, it can collect pesticides, sidewalk salt, and debris. With dogs that have continuously-growing hair, the hair can become matted and cause painful lumps.
You can use scissors (very carefully!) or trimmers to cut the hair flush with your dog’s paw pads. Don’t dig down between the paw pads because it’s very easy to nick your dog.
Trimming
I could write a whole article on giving your dog a full haircut at home, but here are a few basics to keep in mind:
Even the best professional groomers nick dogs from time to time, so be prepared for the possibility that you may injure your dog. Moving animals plus sharp scissors and clipper blades are a scary combination.
Keep clipper blades flat against the skin. Be especially careful at skin edges like the edges of the ears, armpits, and the area where the back legs meet the body.
Clipper blades WILL GET HOT. Using attachment combs helps keep the blade away from your dog’s body, but if you are using a blade against your dog’s skin (especially a #10 blade), it will get hot, no matter what the manufacturer promises. Keep blade coolant handy and frequently touch the clipper blade to the inside of your forearm to see how hot it is.
Use the right equipment suitable to your dog. We have an extensive guide on choosing the correct dog grooming clippers that should point you in the right direction.
Go slowly. Rushing leads to accidents
When in doubt, a visit to a professional groomer is usually cheaper than a trip to the vet

How to save dry hair
The older you get, the drier your hair
Nursing people say that the older you get, the easier it is to dry your hair. This is a common phenomenon faced by both men and women.
Hair care experts explained that with age, the oil produced by the scalp will naturally decrease. When the oil is not enough to moisturize the hair, the hair will lose moisture and become dry.
Experts say: Hair does not have natural lubricants and needs to rely on the oil produced by the roots to keep it moisturized and shiny. If the hair is healthy, the natural oil on the outer layer of the hair will help protect the inner layer, and it will also reflect light and make the hair look shiny. The hair becomes dry because it cannot get or retain enough moisture. This reduces the gloss of the hair and makes the hair look rough and lifeless.
In fact, men and women of all ages will have dry hair, but the older you are, the greater the possibility.
Other causes of dry hair
In addition to age, the following reasons can also make hair dry or even damaged:
●Environment: dry and hot climate, and long-term exposure to the sun or wind.
●Hair care habits: Too often shampoo and blow hair, use shampoo with too strong cleaning power, electric rod clip or electric rod roll.
●Chemical treatment: for hair dyeing, perming, smoothing and other treatments.
Simple change to save dry hair
Simple changes in lifestyle can improve dry and damaged hair. Expert advice:
☆Avoid chemical hair care, electric rod clips and electric rod rolls, and try to blow your hair as little as possible.
☆Avoid exposure to the sun or heat.
☆If the climate is dry, wear a hat when going out to avoid prolonged exposure to dry air or wind chill.
☆Wear a swimming cap when swimming to prevent your hair from coming into contact with chlorine and salt water. Wetting your hair with water before entering the water can also reduce chlorine damage.
☆Reduce the amount of stereotyped products.
How to choose hair care products?
Experts emphasize that hair care products for dry or damaged hair must be used when hair is damaged.
There is no immediate and easy way to save dry and damaged hair. It is recommended to choose mild products because they contain less detergent that can cause dry hair. Choosing keratin-containing shampoo products will also help to repair the crevices of the hairs.
It is recommended to choose a shampoo that does not contain sulfates, because sulfates can irritate the scalp and remove moisture from the hair.
At the same time, experts also recommend the use of scalp essence to care for the roots and moisturize the hair from the inside to the outside. Hair serums and hair oils can also promote the repair process, allowing the hair to lock in moisture. In addition, you can regularly use a hair mask that deeply moisturizes your hair.
Prevent dry hair
Pay attention to reasonable diet and nutrition. Eat foods rich in protein and vitamins A and B, such as walnuts, sesame seeds, jujubes, carrots, green peppers, spinach, leeks, rapeseed, etc. Eat more fruits, such as oranges, persimmons, and sweet apricots. Animal liver, egg yolk, fish, etc. Foods rich in iodine such as kelp and seaweed.
Eat less sugar and fatty foods. Clean your hair frequently to reduce the damage caused by air pollution. Do not use shampoo that is too alkaline. Use a suitable hair conditioner after washing.
But perm frequently. At most 2 times a year, when the hair quality is poor, do not perm or dye your hair. Try not to use electric hair dryer to blow your hair. If you use it, keep the blowing temperature as low as possible and the blowing time as short as possible.
Trim split ends every 2 months. Use a comb to comb your hair neatly every day, so that the oil is evenly distributed throughout the hair.
Instead of using plastic combs, use wooden combs or bone combs. Pay attention to sun protection in summer to prevent UV rays from damaging your hair. Keep enough sleep and insist on participating in physical exercises. Eat more kangoos.
