No 242 🇫🇷 Fin de la première saison ! Etant un très grand fan de la première heure (2013) de The Last Of Us, je ne sais pas si je suis vraiment objectif. C’est une série incroyable qui suit le scénario du jeu en prenant quelques libertés qui apportent souvent un plus. Je ne pouvais pas ne pas faire un clin d’oeil à cette série. Because I am a big fan of The Last of Us since 2013, I do not know if I am really objective. Week 7 | Monday workshops Mark Making using Draping with Tutor Slyvia Shorthall

First workshop of the day. Sylvia took the time to first set up our easels and talked us through good practice for future use.

Working on a waxy type paper called ' Glaseen' we drew with a black sharpie but at a right angle to the easel so we could not look at the paper while drawing.

I could have spent all day in this workshop, I enjoyed the fluidness of painting with Indian ink and a bamboo stick. I'm happy with the outcome and the experience of working on large sheets of paper was interesting to me allowing me to move around my space at times. I probably needed to take more moments to stand away from the piece to gain newer perspective.

SISTER SISTER

You bond with people looking like you.

I grew up not having any of my close friends being black. Funny thing is that I was only in West Africa ( Niger, Burkina Faso). I compared myself for the longest time to my mix-race friends, praised by everyone while I remained the Ugly Duckling. Peer validation is really important at that age and I was desperately seeking some. I was the nice friend who always say yes and who FIGHT for people to love her.

I met my best friend at 15 but she became important to me only at 16. SISTERHOOD. That's how I can describe the bond we have. I do not ask myself what I should do for her to love me more, I just ask myself how to make her happy.

We bonded being black girls in a school where people praise lightskin. Being considered nonattractive by black boys. Fighting to prove we matter, we smart, we funny, we beautiful.

Le héros de l'ombre. 

Bande dessinée à l'encre de Chine, 30x40 cm (format A3). D'après le jeu-vidéo The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Exposition d’Encre et d'Embruns, Sète.

Encore une bande dessinée, et de nouveau pour l'université ! Cette fois-ci l'objectif était de faire ressortir les contrastes à travers un clair obscur. Et à l'instar de la précédente, nous devions introduire une interaction entre un personnage et une ombre ; les connaisseurs doivent désormais comprendre mon sujet... De plus il se trouve que cette bande dessinée a également été sélectionnée pour l'exposition d'Encre et d'Embruns à l'occasion de la fête de la Saint Pierre !

Il faut dire que je fus également inspirée pour ce projet. Mais je voulais rendre hommage à cette licence de jeu vidéo que j'aime tant depuis des années dans un devoir et c'est désormais chose faite ! Voici donc l'affrontement entre Link et Dark Link, dans le redoutable Temple de l'eau dans Zelda Ocarina of Time !
