Along with this, we have practices, traditions, ceremonies, and taboos that must be observed when harvesting. Each plant has a certain time and ceremony to harvest them in respectful and sustainable ways. Stolen and disrespected medicine will not work! The spirits of the plants may even curse you so be careful. If you do buy these, make sure they are harvested from Indigenous people. This ensures all proper precautions are taken and supports Indigenous communities in the process. Ask your elders and medicine peoples to get these herbs rather than colonial systems. Remember our medicine is sacred and not to be used lightly.
