At New Mexico Film Critics (2021), the move once again won Best original song with the NMFC Award.

Microvascular dysfunction affecting the heart, brain, retina, lung, and kidney, representing different manifestations of small-vessel disease. They share pathophysiologic mechanisms and can occur concomitantly. ANOCA, angina with no obstructive coronary artery disease; HFpEF, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction; INOCA, ischemia with no obstructive coronary artery disease; MINOCA, myocardial infarction with no obstructive coronary arteries. 

Now that it has been almost five years since the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 and its Spike Protein, we can observe a pattern of long-term damage from the Spike Protein. The long-term effects have been called everything from Long COVID, to PASC to Vaccine Injury. However, if we look very closely, a picture begins to emerge that is the picture of a novel systemic microvascular disease. 

That the Spike Protein causes microvascular dysfunction and inflammation is well proven. 

In addition to the implications of ACE2 downregulation, our observations also point to a novel effect of spike protein on endothelial cell function and stability. We documented that the engagement of spike protein reduces surface ACE2 and intracellular KLF2 expression, while increasing cell surface expression of vWF in primary human arterial endothelial cells. The changes in KLF2 and vWF expression are indicative of endothelial dysfunction and may perpetuate vascular inflammation and coagulation.

Scene: Crazy 88

Synopsis: The Bride(Uma Thurman) must defeat Boss O-Ren Ishii’s army of men called the Crazy 88 using only her katana.

The scene starts off with O-Ren and The Bride staring each other down, then muffled sounds of motorcycles approaching are heard. I thought this was done fairly well because it blends well with the dialogue then dies out. Once the final line is said it shifts of the sound of footsteps from the leader of the Crazy 88. When he yells the rest of the army starts running in underneath their many footsteps you can here the rhythmic beat of drums that kind of act as footsteps. It’s a lot of thuds and thumps that were well choreographed by the foley and sound effects crew. 

When they all stop and surround The bride the footsteps eventually decays and music fills the space. Its a standoff between the bride and the army surrounding her. Each sound effect for the movement of her katana is matched evenly with the music, and when she gets in her stance you can hear the ring of the sword along with a note in the song. The music helps to show the growing tension in the room. The chain SFX falls in tempo with the music and as it reaches the breaking point, the music cuts off and the scene is carried away with just sound effects.

There is the clinking and clashing of katanas and lots of slicing and spraying SFX that follow. With each swipe of her sword all you hear is the spraying of blood and screams. The SFX’s makes the scene more violent because its slightly over exaggerated but not to the point of it coming off as comedic. Overall the scene is very gruesome, graphic, and violent with very hidden comedic undertones. That’s what makes it the greatest scene ever.
