Record #754: In Parallel - Fashioner (2020) As much as I love old-school shoegaze and new wave, I might enjoy it just as much when the punks lay down their aggressive downstrokes and power chords to reappropriate those sounds and moods in earnest.  Granted, neither Hopesfall nor Celebrity have exactly shied away from integrating these retro influences in their brands of post-hardcore. Even at their heaviest, they've retained a sense of tunefulness and melancholy that recall bands like New Order, My Bloody Valentine, and of course The Cure.  But when members of those projects join forces to delve more sincerely honor those influences, the result is magical. Inparallel was a name we gave our artists group at Uni quite a few years back. It was part of the syllabus to stage an art exhibition and we continued with another group show later that year.

As we were all at an early stage of our art careers the art work was quite random and probably not very focussed at that time. I have kept up our p base website from 2004 out of nostalgia

Dhani Harrison a dévoilé il y a peu un premier titre extrait de son album solo, « All About Waiting »

Illustre fils de, Dhani Harrison s’apprête à sortir son tout premier album solo, sobrement baptisé IN//PARALLEL.

Il a déjà sorti deux EP et trois albums – dont la bande-originale du film Sublimes Créatures – avec son groupe thenewno2, ainsi qu’un album acclamé avec le supergroupe Fistful of Mercy (composé de Ben Harper et Joseph Arthur) mais c’est la première fois qu’Harrison sortira un album sous son nom. Le musicien se produira également en solo sur la scène du Panorama Festival à New York City, le 30 juillet.

Décrit comme « faisant écho à ses influences en tant que compositeur, » IN///PARALLEL tient davantage d’une peinture sonore que d’un album album classique. Premier single extrait de cette œuvre solo, « All About Waiting » est une élégante ballade électro-pop à la rythmique appuyée et aux paroles planantes.

IN//PARALLEL est d’ores et déjà disponible en pré-commande. Sa sortie dans les bacs est prévue pour le 6 octobre.
