Deftones’ greatest records were landmarks in experimental metal not because they were heedlessly avant-garde but because the band innovated within certain parameters of popular taste, introducing the masses to the less-conventional. In that regard, 2020’s Ohms was a return to those sorts of experiments; bold-ish ideas packaged with appeal, structural invention plus sky-high hooks and pleasing crunch.

Ohms is legitimately probably Deftones' best album since Diamond Eyes. like don't get me wrong, i love Koi No Yokan and Gore but oh my god, Ohms is done so incredibly well. 'Ohms' the song still makes me cry every time i hear it it's SO GOOD

i love how deftones made ohms (song and album) feel so warm and homey. it sounds like a warm safe hug. when i hear the beginning of headless or ohms (song) i feel like im in the womb just floating safely in a warm nothingness. every other album had the grit and rough of life. it had the dirt under the nails, the cars honking in the streets, the sound of the bugs in the heat, the sound of your shoes on pavement. but ohms? ohms doesnt have that. ohms has sincere and honest safety.
