OpenShot video editing software
In episode 4 we take care of the fine editing - Stefan Reiss shows the possibilities of Resolve 12.5 to adjust everything frame by frame until the video "flows". Please watch these German user videos to get started. If you need further help, come back. The source language in which the original text is published is the official and authorized version. A soft cut is made with the K key at the point where the playhead (blue bar) is located (see animation below). The sections can be marked by clicking in the middle of a clip and moved as required with the G key. It is now available on Linux, Mac and Windows, has been downloaded several million times and is growing steadily. An astronaut and a phone booth, please! This web application comes in handy when you want to cut a small video file. No installation is required, the app works through your browser. This question is locked and the answer function has been deactivated. A double click in the title bar of the video clip shows its content in the clip view. There, the start marker is pulled far enough to the right that the video clip begins at the starting point of the actual film. This also means that video clips that are not the current tempo leader can be warped, which results in warped video output in the video window.
Editing movie & making videos
And the shortcut X for deleting also works in the video sequencer (see image below).
There are two ways to set up blenders for video editing.
Blender can do VFX effects, but Blender is not meant to be an AE alternative.
No one else has access to them.
You can also watch live programs from Watch Twitter and worldwide periscopes on Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV.
However, the images have been cut here and nothing can be restored (see animation below).
The maximum file size for TweetVideo is 512 MB. However, you can also upload a video that is longer than 2 minutes and 20 seconds and trim it before inserting it into a tweet. Lumen5 is a video production platform designed for brands and businesses to produce social content for the online audience. The goal of the platform is to enable anyone without training or experience to easily create engaging video content within minutes. You can dock an already recorded video or a live video in the Twitter app for iOS and the Twitter app for Android.
Copy, cut, group clips, handles
In this scenario, adding warp markers in the video clip defines "hit points" to which the music will sync. Note that the warp switch of a video clip must be activated for the clip to work as a tempo leader. In the example image below, two video sequencer windows are open. Then click Share. Then click to the right of this point and drag the blue bar to the left to the desired end point. Click on the white bar and drag it to the end of the area you want to remove. Next to the video you'd like to edit, select the Edit option. This function is only available for photos. Check out this article for more information on tagging in photos. To display a docked video in full screen again, tap the video. To dock a video, simply tap the docking icon that appears on the top right of a video in full screen mode. To prevent the Linguee database from being read out automatically, Linguee only allows a certain number of requests per user.

Do you have a list of your tvd ships anywhere? (I LOVE your klaulena and fte's tylena and stebekah \o/)
OH NO I thought I had responded to this already!!! This is what I get for multi-tasking TOO! MUCH!Â
I donât have a list, but that sounds like a brilliant idea, so how about I make one right here right now?Â
Stelena and Delena â I put these together because my feelings on them are so interwovenâ Iâm unashamedly all about this love triangleâ way back when season 1 was airing, I was a huge delena shipper, but then at some point in season 2 I realized that I was ALSO really invested in stelena⌠and the thing is, even though I really wanted delena to happen⌠I didnât want to lose stelena. I was always a little disappointed that the show dropped stelena so hard once delena happened. Like, my feeling on it is I like these ships best when they are in conflict with each other. Not sure I really ship this as an ot3, although Iâve read some truly phenomenal fic for that and there is a lot about Stefan and Damonâs relationship to be parsed out by the potential for them all 3 to find some balance with each other, but I definitely definitely am here for these 2 ships in a really big way. Like, FE wasnât supposed to be a stelena fic at all, and I only realized once I really got into writing it that it just was. Elenaâs love for these two is just so incredibly intrinsic to who she is.Â
Klena/Klaulena â (why didnât we ever settle on a ship name???) If youâre reading this, you probably already know this is my OTP. Maybe my OTP of OTPs, since itâs continued to interest and inspire my writing for like 8 years now. Just. How to even put all of this in a short paragraph. Thereâs something really fascinating to me about how they both play into each otherâs psyches as these larger than life forcesâ Klaus for Elena is like this descending doom, this inevitability, this force of nature she canât stop, or even run from, she just has to stand and face it, and the pressure that puts on her is really how she learns who she really is, and what she is really willing to do. I think Elena found out so much of who she is when her soul is scraped down to the very bottom from Klausâs bearing down on her. She learned she was a force of nature herself. And for Klaus, Elena is this idea heâs been fixating on for a millennium. Because donât tell me he wasnât still fixated on her even after he thought there would be no more Petrovas. Because he totally was. And I think she excites but also frightens himâ I mean, sheâs got the face of his dead beloved, and thereâs got to be something faintly unnatural and therefore unnerving about her. But also, there are great themes about fateâ that they had this written in the stars kind of destiny, that was dark and terrifying and brutal, that they fulfilled together (Iâve always felt like there would be this subconscious part of Elena that would have yearned to fulfill her part, even though it was totally messed up and she died doing it)â and there is fantastic imageryâ fire, water, how much better does it get? â and their chemistry is INSANE. Like, I think I jumped on board this ship a month before Joseph Morgan even stepped on camera, but by the end of the season Iâd tossed out everything else I was doing and that was that. UGH and their power dynamics? Wild. You donât get quality content like this every day, people! I could write a thesis about this ship.Â
Rebekah/Stefan â the ship I wish had sailed much more prominently than it ever did. I was really really really into this, and fascinated by the idea that Stefan could have his memories be restored and be in love with someone else, for real, and I was super interested in the drama and just emotional turmoil that would have stirred up. I was always disappointed by the show kind of brushing stebekah under the rugâ I really felt like this is the great love story we never got.Â
Rebekah/Elena â the ship with all! the! potential! donât even get me started. I really really really enjoy how they have both the capacity to be incredibly sympathetic to each other, and actually seem to really like each other and get along well⌠except that ELENA is the one who canât help but backstab (literally) and Rebekah, who always lashes out in the worst possible way, responds by like⌠trying to light Elena on fire. It just has always intrigued me that Elena, the human, is the one who behaves more monstrously, when you would expect it to be Rebekah. I just am really super interested in their dynamic, which is both kind of sad and also really hot, and wish (again!) that weâd gotten something here. I have a few Becklena fics that I pray will someday see the light of day.Â
Elejah â how could I forget this gem? my original doppelganger x original ship. I think I fell in love with this ship around the time we got that great deal getting brokered in Elenaâs bedroom. DEFINITELY by the time she daggered him in The Dinner Party. There was always a sense of menace and top tier creep just simmering below the surface, that appealed to my horror-romance loving heart.Â
Katherine/Elena â this one is kind of weird because I donât quite ship it romanticallyâ more like, I think there is a TON of interesting stuff to unpack about both of the doppelgangers that can be gleaned from shipping them, and a lot of imagery with mirrors and reflections and things getting warped as fuck that I really really really adore. Itâs probably feels too narcissistic to me to ship them romantically, since I really think they are the same girl nature-wise with very different upbringings resulting in their apparent personality differences⌠but like, I do still ship them as an idea, and of course, sexually, with each other. Idk this is almost more like a character study/idea ship than an âI want them to be in loveâ ship.Â
Marcel/Elena â oops I might have invented this but whatâs done is done
Tyler/Elena â this was always supposed to be part of FE, but I think I actually convinced myself of this ship while writing FE, like, the more I thought about it the more sure of it I was. Tylerâs always been one of my absolute favoritesâ swear to God he sometimes feels like my viewer insert because he says the stuff Iâm thinking ALL the timeâ and I have this headcanon that heâs super misunderstood, but someone like Elena, whoâs known him her whole life, knows the real Tyler, and sees past all of thatâ and likewise, Tyler can see through Elenaâs smoke mirrors, which are AMPLE. Thereâs just so much potential for tenderness and sincerity and he saved her at the end of season 3 because of course he did, of course Tyler would jump in like that for her, sheâs Elena Gilbert, heâs known her his whole life.Â
Almost all of these are Elena-centric, which⌠is just sort of how I operate.Â
I do low-key ship these though:Â
Team Forwoodâ ah, the good old days. I really felt like this ship got shunted for Carolineâs other big ship, but câest la vie.Â
Jeremy/Tyler â two misunderstood boys angsting over line art also the chemistry
Katherine/Damon/Stefan â umm Memory Lane is my favorite episode it is what it isÂ
Rebekah/Klaus and Klaus/Stefan and Klaus/Rebekah/Stefan â I donât even headcanon this Iâll straight out tell you that all of these things are canon â have you seen the promo image for season 3? Klaus is clearly the interloper in the established love triangle, whispering in Stefanâs ear/seducing him â I donât really think these ship configurations can be untangled from each other though, at least not in canon Â

A little Bandersnatch college AU thing
I've had this scene in my head for a while and I couldn't get it out of my mind. I posted it in the Discord server earlier, but I think I could probably share this here too, put some content on my blog
So, imagine Stefan and Colin met at a Russell Group / Ivy League kinda school, and Colin's the dude that never shows up to lectures yet somehow magically passes enough credited courses every year not to be expelled. And he's kinda like, got the reputation of being trouble, everyone knows he's the kid with the drugs, and you know how rumours tend to be, each story gets more and more outlandish and nobody knows how many of them are actually real and how many of them are just the result of the student population's imagination ran wild
It ranges from something as innocuous as "I heard he's actually the son of [insert billionaire who heavily sponsors the university here]" to the more scandalous "I heard he's sleeping with Dr. Haynes (head of the department/faculty) that's why he's not expelled yet" to still more unsavoury things that I will not go into detail here
But every once in a while when Colin deigns to show up to one of the lectures or seminars he always has something brilliant to say. And people kind of take him as, he thinks he's too good for everyone in the school, and he doesn't actually have many friends (even his... I guess... acquaintances don't know where he is half the time)
Enter Stefan, who's the definition of goody two shoes, worked really hard his whole life to get into this uni
And the first day - perhaps during an orientation tour around campus, he runs into Colin at the library, who breaks so, so many rules and kinda just walks out on the crowd he's attracted, cigarette in one hand, a book in another, all cavalier attitude (heedless of the librarians that are burning a hole in his back with their angry gazes because smokes are prohibited in the library)
Later, Stefan meets Colin again in one of his lectures, and he is absolutely smitten with how intelligent Colin actually is, right
Stefan bumps into Colin around campus more often than he'd expected, and then some way, somehow, Stefan gets invited to the same events and spaces that Colin hangs around usually. Stefan's never one to stay long of course, because he got in on a scholarship and he's gotta mind his studies (the image of his dad's disappointed face always lingers at the back of his mind), but one night Stefan is at this house party and he's gotten to that point in the night where he's still intoxicated but no longer feels interested in the people around him anymore, so he wanders off to explore the house (and it is HUGE), and he hears video game music and stumbles upon Colin just... gaming on his own
Turns out Colin's one of the kids renting a room in this mansion of a house and that's his bedroom. And finally getting to spend time face to face with The Colin Ritman has Stefan sobering up a little, but he's still sorta faded, so he has no trouble holding a random conversation with Colin. They sorta just talk and bond for the rest of the night. Illuminated by nothing but the pale digital glow of the computer screen, and eventually the tinny music of the game dies out as their attention moves away from the screen and onto other things in Colin's room that they could tinker with (Colin has an impressive bookshelf, for one), and then onto each other as the conversation continues. This moment in the bedroom stretches on forever, intimate in a way that Stefan feels like he's somehow witnessing a side of Colin that most of the faculty doesn't see. Stefan learns that Colin is actually a lot less scary than he projects himself to be, actually the man's kinda lonely - Stef picks up the vibe, Colin doesn't exactly say it out loud but Stefan feels like they're kindred spirits in a way, both kinda lonely and their friends don't really get them on a level that Stefan now feels, by the end of the night, like he's connected with Colin on?
So they keep in touch after that, and Colin starts inviting Stefan along to the extracurricular stuff he does for fun - that is to say, little social experiments, painting graffiti art (although Stefan's always on lookout duty because he's not quite at the stage where he can let go of his moral code and basically commit vandalism), etc.
Sometimes, Colin even invites Stefan only, so it's just the two of them alone, and always Stef feels so soft for him because Colin without his swagger, Colin with his soul bared honest and vulnerable is his favourite version of Colin
Eventually though Colin gets Stefan out of his shell more and more and they're egging this dude's house in the dead of night (this dude who's sort of humiliated Stefan publicly in another incident, there might even be a political motive involved, guy's a Tory/homophobe/etc); and when they get found out Colin tugs Stefan away and they run away together, hop on the first bus passing by around the corner and Stefan sticks up 2 fingers before Colin even does so at the person chasing after them
And the satisfaction and the adrenaline rushing through his rabbit heart feels so good, Stefan's still riding that high, cheeks aching with this grin, and it takes them 2 stops to realise their hands are still clasped in each other's from when they were running away
#colfan#stolin#stefan butler#colin ritman#bandersnatch#black mirror bandersnatch#bandersnatch fic#honestly is there still anyone on this platform blogging about this movie i feel like i'm just shouting into the void#stvlti writes#will be back to put this under a read more soon ; i'm on mobile#Bandersnatch imagines

Who you think are the possibles Lis? I saw someone saying that maybe Teddy or Chelsea Which I think that totally makes sense, but I have a feeling that the New Teacher (I Think her name is Alice) may be the New LI. If she is the new LI, that's means 3 female LIs and 3 male LIs, I would love that and the LIs are normally stereotypes Like, Chis (Quarterback), Kaitlyn(Book 1 Party Girl, Book 3 Punk Princess), James (Co-worker [?]), Zig (Bad Boy)& Becca(Sorority Girl). Now a teacher, what you think?
Hey, anon. In this post, I am going to talk about;1) Why I think MCâs romance with Chelsea wonât happen and why characters from distinct differences are good.
Iâm going to make another post talking about;2) The Enneagram personality types and its benefits for writers and for people in general3) TS/TS charactersâs Enneagram personality types.
And 1), 2) and 3) are all connected.
There is nothing wrong with Chelsea. She is not a bad character but her character is too similar to Becca. To make her an LI is equivalent to trying to find a second [insert your favourite artist or current super famous pop idolâs name here] when your fave band is still super famous and active.
Plus, PB values diversity so itâs very likely that they will bring in new LI(s) whose personalities and backgrounds are different from the current LIs.Â
As Iâve said before, Chelsea is too similar to Becca (sorority girl dating a football player and being kinda snappy)Â By making Chelsea an LI, PB wouldnât add much meaningful value to the Essence of the series which is diversity. And yes, Alice (the new professor) would make a fine new additional to the diverse group of LIs. Chelsea as an LI would be dubbed a brunette Becca. It wouldnât benefit PBâs brand.
FYI, I am an Asian woman and I have no personal problem with Chelsea and Iâm not already a fan of Alice as I know very little about her. I am trying my best to give you reasons why Chelsea shouldnât be a new LI based on the logic in my head, not what I want. Because I personally want a soft butch LI đ
Why are distinct differences good?
Long story short, itâs a worldwide strategy to use as a selling point so that the audience in general can tell who is who apart very easily. This way, there will be more chances for more audience to fall for/become a fan of one of the LIs whose backgrounds and appearances are all different.
I am going to give you some other examples to make my point easier to understand. This strategy is the same as creating boy band and girl band. For example, some producers like to put 4 or 5 people who have different images and styles in the same band so the group will receive attention from more audience. The Japanese also use the same strategy when they create the main cast of their anime, manga and video games.
Examples of successful boy bands and girl bands: One Direction, TVXQ (Kpop), Spice Girls, 2NE1 (Kpop), 5H, Big Bang (Kpop).Â
The members of these bands all have different images and styles. â¨I think even super old people, who canât keep up with mainstream music even if they try, will be able to tell Lauren Jauregi from planet green eyes attack you apart from the other girls in the group. And Jaejoong (then a member of TVXQ who used to dominate Kpop world in the East, now a member of JYJ) said that at first, 5 members in his band all had their own images that were totally different from one another.
P.S. I am not saying those bands are/were successful because of their looks. They are all talented.
Examples of characters in anime and video games: The main cast of Sailor Moon (There are 9 main Sailor Senshi and they all have distinct differences in personalities and character designs. Very easy to distinguish them from one another. This is very impressive), The 4 main characters of Yuyu Hakusho, The 4 main characters of Yuru Yuri, The 4 main cast of Final Fantasy XV, The main cast of Persona 5.
Examples of LIs in other video games: The LIs of any Mass Effect games, the LIs of any Dragon Age games, the LIs of Persona 5, and the LIs of Persona 4 The Golden.
Examples of other fictional LIs: Damon and Stefan Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries), Edward Cullen and Jacob Black (Twilight), The main cast of the L word (most of them are LGBTQ+ women but they are all different)
Creating the main cast/LIs full of different types of characters benefits greatly in terms of creating story too. Each and every character has their flaws and their strength, together they can contribute their strength and help each other get through difficulties in the story. Like how Harry, Ron and Hermione always help one another out because they all are good at different things and they all have different things to offer.
Next, I am going to talk about a tool that will help writers who are still at beginner stage create different characters well. And so I am going to make another post because itâs long.
Thanks for your ask, anon. Ask me more!

CATALOGUE DESIGN SOLUTIONS
#1
A Passage / Exhibition & Catalogue -Â Stergios Galikas
This spread in this catalogue features a little bit of information on the work/artist, and a picture of the work/artist who/that is being featured in the exhibition. Here on this spread, there is only one artist/work being featured.
#2
Inuit Sculture Now -Â Stefan Canuel, rgd
These pages seem pretty straightforward. Artist name and details, picture of the work that is being exhibited, and a paragraph of information about the project. Here, on the spread there are featured two different artists.
#3
ICA 2017 FESTIVAL CATALOGUE FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN AND INTERACTIVE MEDIA
I think that this catalogue, has an exceptional use of the grid and white-space. With this example, and others, I seem to realise that the most important elements within a catalogue is the work, the and the artist. The function of the catalogue here is to help the audience to understand more the work.
#4
Collect & Assemble | Exhibition Catalogue -Â Annie Portelli
Sometimes, an image speaks for itself. But one must not forget that the catalogue is there to help the audience, and not speak for them. What happens when one doesnât understand what is being displayed in front of them?
#5
die Angewandte - DIGITAL FRICTIONS exhibition catalogue -Â studioelastik .comÂ
This might be a good idea if one inserts a spread with a fun element in the catalogue for the ICA 2019 Festival. In the case of the image above, the designer inserted a couple pages with nothing but colours. This might act as a breathing space for the viewers, and it may be essential if the department has a large number of students that are being exhibited.

Best Android Mirror Cast Apps
Imagine projecting everything that goes on your smartphone screen to bigger television one, this is exactly what the best android mirror cast apps do. They take whatever is happening on your small smartphone screen and projected to a bigger display. It is one of the best ways to enjoy content that is already on your smartphone but on a bigger screen.
There are number of things you can do with the best android mirror cast apps and all of them are quite exciting. From being a true adult and presenting slideshows at an office meeting to showing off funny pictures you took of your dog to your friends and family, everything can be done if you have the right app and equipment. It is a wonderful technology that is built into android and is truly flexible when it comes to compatibility.

Writerâs Note: A huge point to be noted here is that while many TVs do come with built-in mirror cast technology, many are still way behind the curve. If you have an older TV, youâll need to have an external mirror cast enabled device. Thankfully, there are some really inexpensive offerings available online that you can purchase and simply insert into the HDMI port of your TV. Googleâs Chromecast is also an excellent option and we highly recommend that you invest in one. Another point to be noted here is that the external mirror cast devices will plug into the HDMI port of your TV, if your TV doesnât come with an HDMI port, youâre out of luck. And honestly, we think itâs high time that you upgrade your television to something a little bit more modern.
We have extensively discussed how and what mirror cast does. Of course, if youâre already here, you know what it is capable of so letâs start talking about the apps that will help you project your smartphone images to a bigger screen. The apps are not in any particular order simply because they may or may not work for your particular smartphone or external mirror casting device, hopefully that wonât be the case but be ready to mix and match a little bit.
AllCast AllCast ClockworkMod Video Players & EditorsFree AllCast is one of the most popular mirror casting apps for android simply because it is compatible with a vast number of different devices. From Chromecast to Amazon FireTV and from Apple TV to Roku, it is capable of delivering images and videos from your smartphone to a bigger screen without any problems. It is without a doubt one of the easiest ways to get your photos and videos on your TV without any additional steps. All you need to do is make sure your smartphone allows mirror casting, select the device that you need to connect to and thatâs about it. However, this is a demo version that only allows you to view 5 minutes of footage on the big screen. Youâll need to upgrade to the premium version in order to remove the viewing limit. Thankfully, if the app works perfectly for you, it would make perfect sense to get the premium version to easily enjoy a quality service. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY AllCast AllConnect AllConnect Tuxera Inc.Video Players & EditorsFree AllConnect provides you the ability to immediately stream your favorite movies, photos and music to a number of devices with amazing finesse and ease. It is compatible with a lot of different devices which includes numerous smart TVs from different manufacturers, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku and many more. One of the most amazing features of this mirror cast app for android is the ability to activate multiple streams simultaneously. So if you are streaming a video to one TV, you can stream audio to AirPlay Speakers at the same time. The app also supports YouTube content so youâll be able to directly stream it on the big screen. You donât even need to queue the same kind of media, the app will allow you to add or remove photos, videos and music from the queue without any problems. Streaming from any source is also supported really well, if you want to stream movies from a media server, the app supports that fully. While the initially thought that it is only compatible with Chromecast, we were pleasantly surprised to see it support a number of different smart TVs, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and even Nexus Player. It would truly benefit the app if they remove âfor Chromecastâ from the name. However, there are certain features that are exclusive to Chromecast so we cannot blame the developers completely for the name. For example, the zoom, pan and rotate features only worked with Chromecast. Subtitles also work with Chromecast and Apple TV 4 with Opensubtitles.org integration. There are a number of features that facilitate you watching movies over this app and subtitle support is one of them. Running PowerShell Core on Raspberry Pi 2
While enjoying some days off during Christmas and New Year I found some time to install PowerShell Core on my Raspberry Pi 2.
Pre-requisites:
Raspberry Pi version 2 or higher
Windows 10 with Windows Subsystem for Linux enabled
The following tools:
Windows Subsystem for Linux (Ubuntu)
Chocolatey (Package Manager for Windows)
Putty
WinSCP
Etcher
Here are the steps to get it working.
Step 1. Setup your Pi
Download Raspbian and follow the installation instructions to get it onto your Pi. Once your Pi is up and running, enable SSH remoting.
I downloaded the Raspbian Stretch with Desktop version. This can take some time to download. Please be patient and get a cup of coffee or tea while the image is being downloaded.
Next download Etcher (graphical SD card writing tool) and install it.
The easiest way is using Chocolatey, which is a Windows Package Manager and install it with:
choco install Etcher
And while you are installing Etcher it's also a good idea to install Putty and WinSCP too using Chocolatey.
choco install putty choco install winscp
Open Etcher and select downloaded Raspbian Image and select correct USB drive and click on Flash.
Wait for the flash to complete.
Insert your micro-SD in your Raspberry Pi and make sure you can connect to it. You need to enable SSH as a first step. It can be enabled manually from the desktop:
Launch Raspberry Pi Configuration from the Preferences menu
Navigate to the Interfaces tab
Select Enabled next to SSH
Click OK
Pro tip: Use Fing tool to scan you network to find the IP Address of your Raspberry Pi.
Open Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and SSH into your raspberry pi.
Change you pi password. Enter:
passwd
Step 2. Install Powerhell Core on Raspberry Pi
Connect to your Raspberry Pi with Putty or WSL and run the following commands:
# Install prerequisites sudo apt-get install libunwind8 # Grab the latest tar.gz wget http://ift.tt/2pL8L7j # Make folder to put powershell mkdir ~/powershell # Unpack the tar.gz file tar -xvf ./powershell-6.0.0-rc.2-linux-arm32.tar.gz -C ~/powershell
Start PowerShell
~/powershell/pwsh
If everything worked out correctly you see the following.
What's next?
You could start installing the PowerShell UniversalDashboard module from Adam Driscoll.
Run:
install-module universaldashboard -scope currentuser
You can now use WinSCP to copy files from your local machine to the remote RaspberryPi. You can download some example Dashboards here: http://ift.tt/2zuFpu4
Now go back to your RaspberryPi SSH connection and run:
Start-UDDashboard -Content { & '/home/pi/New-UDWeatherDashboard.ps1' -State 'Noord-Holland' -City 'Halfweg'} -Port 9292
Open now http://(raspberrypi ipaddress):9292 and you should see something like this.
Have fun running PowerShell Core on your Raspberry Pi!

Press Release:
Galerie Eva Presenhuber is pleased to present the galleryâs sixth solo-exhibition with the Philadelphia-based artist Karen Kilimnik.
Starting in the 1990s, Karen Kilimnik has created a large oeuvre of paintings in which she deals with motifs such as romantic mysteries, nature, Baroque, Rococo, fairy tales, and ballett. Artists such as 17th and 18th century painters Henry Raeburn, George Stubbs, Hubert Robert or François Boucher are frequent subjects to her reinterpretation.
Oscillating between magic worlds, unspoiled nature and the intuition that both could be merely a facade, Kilimnikâs motifs feel familiar. And this is for good reason: Her landscapes play with references to precursors. In âThe Egerton House Hotelâ, for example, she refers to Giorgioneâs âLandscape with sunsetâ. Depicting Giorgioneâs composition, Kilimnik removes the figures and instead inserts furniture from âThe Egerton House Hotelâ in London. In doing so, she changes the landscape from one to only look at into one that seems to invite the viewer to take a seat. âThe Egerton House Hotelâ is one of the artistâs favourite hotels. For her it represents an ideal, comfortable and luxurious shelter.
Kilimnikâs work has been shown in historic spaces such as palaces. Doing so, she plays with a space in which the viewer would rather expect historical paintings. But Kilimnik questions the temporality of what we see just as much within her paintings: The reference â Giorgione â is known, but belongs to the 16th century, while the painting itself is contemporary. Likewise, the depicted furniture is historic and at the same time located in a contemporary hotel.
This juxtaposition of inside and outside, contemporary and history draws through Kilimnikâs landscapes. In âThe Tempest Roomâ, it is as if one can sit inside â with all the respective comforts such as heating, calmness, and absence of insects â and still enjoy the pleasures of the nature outside. It is this juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated things that gives Kilimnikâs works their touch of humour.
Not only in âThe Egerton Hotel Houseâ but also in âThe Gypsies lost in the mountain forest stormâ, painted after George Hyter, Kilimnik has changed the original inhabitants. âZermatt at nightâ, on the other hand, is partly reminiscent of a scene taken from the movie âHelpâ, in which The Beatles are skiing down the alps with torches. Like the hut in âHiding out in the cold winter Polish countryside, the old countryâ, after a painting by Jacob von Ruisdael, the landscape in these paintings is so familiar that Kilimnikâs phantasy of taking shelter in nature becomes accessible for everyone.
Karen Kilimnik was born in 1955 in Philadelphia, where she lives and works. She has been represented by Eva Presenhuber since 1995. Karen Kilimnikâs work is shown in major museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York City; the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City. Latest solo-exhibitions took place in museums such as Le Consortium, Dijon, France (2013/2014); the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, USA (2013); the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, USA (2008); the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, USA (2007) and the Historic Museum Basel, Switzerland (2005). Latest group-exhibitions in major museums include âAmerica Is Hard to Seeâ, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City, USA (2015); âSacrĂŠ 101 â An Exhibition Based on âThe Rite of Springââ, Migros Museum fĂźr Gegenwartskunst, Zurich, Switzerland (2014); âNYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Starâ, New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York City, USA.

Running Universal Dashboard in a Docker Instance
Universal Dashboard
Adam Driscoll the creator of the PowerShell Pro Tools for Visual Studio has created a new feature Universal Dashboard. The PowerShell Pro Tools Universal Dashboard PowerShell module allows for creation of web-based dashboards. The client and server side code for the dashboard is authored all PowerShell. Charts, monitors, tables and grids can easily be created with the cmdlets included with the module. The module is cross-platform and will run anywhere PowerShell Core can run.
With this PowerShell Module you can easily create awesome Dashboards. After creating some cool Dashboards I thought it would be cool to test if you could also run the Universal Dashboard module in a Docker Instance.
Docker
I have a Windows 10 machine so I used the Docker for Windows Client to create Docker Containers on my Windows machine.
Docker is a software technology providing containers, promoted by the company Docker, Inc. Docker provides an additional layer of abstraction and automation of operating-system-level virtualization on Windows and Linux. [from Wikipedia] Please check the references if you want to learn more about Docker.
Example Universal Dashboard
With below Script we can create a Dashboard which retrieves Microsoft Stock prices calling a Web Service.
<# Example Dashboard for showing Microsoft Stock Value last 6 months. Links: - Universial Dashboard: http://ift.tt/2xaTm1D - Stock API: http://ift.tt/2lLkXBH #> $Dashboard = Start-Dashboard -Content { New-Dashboard -Title "Stockprice Dashboard" -Color '#FF050F7F' -Content { #Insert HTML Code New-Html -Markup '<h1>Running Universal Dashboard in Container!</h1>' New-Row { New-Column -Size 12 -Content { New-Chart -Type Line -Title "Stock Values - 6 months" -Endpoint { (Invoke-RestMethod -Uri 'http://ift.tt/2xaDYSU' -Method Get) | Out-ChartData -LabelProperty "date" -DataProperty "close" } } } New-Row { New-Column -Size 12 { New-Grid -Title "StockPrice MSFT" ` -Headers @('Date', 'Close Stock Value', 'Low Stock Value', 'High Stock Value') -Properties @('date', 'close', 'low', 'high') ` -DefaultSortColumn 'Date' -DefaultSortDescending ` -Endpoint { $StockData = Invoke-RestMethod -Uri 'http://ift.tt/2xaDYSU' -Method Get $StockData | Out-GridData } } } } } -Port 9292 #Open Dashboard Start-Process http://localhost:9292 #Stop Dashboard #Stop-Dashboard -Server $Dashboard
If we run above script after installing the UniversalDashboard PowerShell Module and setting the Universal Dashboard License we get the following Dashboard.
Running Universal Dashboard in Docker Instance
We are going to use the microsoft/powerShell image to run our Universal Dashboard. This Docker image contains PowerShell Core.
Make sure you have installed the Docker Client for Windows and you have mounted your c-drive in the Docker Client. We will store the Universal Dashboard script on our c-drive.
High-level steps:
Install the Docker for Windows Client
Configure the Shared Drives (Map C-drive)
Start Docker Windows Client
Create Dashboard Script and store on your Windows C-drive.
Download and install microsoft/powershell Docker image
Start Docker microsoft/powershell instance
Start Dashboard PowerShell script on Docker microsoft/powershell running instance.
I hope you where able to execute steps 1. to 3. yourself so I'll continue with how your Dashboard Script needs to look like.
<# Example Dashboard for showing Microsoft Stock Value last 6 months. Links: - Universial Dashboard: http://ift.tt/2xaTm1D - Stock API: http://ift.tt/2lLkXBH #> #region install Universal Dashboard Module from PSGallery Install-Module UniversalDashboard -Scope AllUsers -Force #endregion #region Set License $License = Get-Content -Path '/data/license.txt' Set-UDLicense -License $License #endregion #region Universal Dashboard Start-Dashboard -Content { New-Dashboard -Title "Stockprice Dashboard" -Color '#FF050F7F' -Content { #Insert HTML Code New-Html -Markup '<h1>Running Universal Dashboard on Docker Instance!</h1>' New-Row { New-Column -Size 12 -Content { New-Chart -Type Line -Title "Stock Values - 6 months" -Endpoint { (Invoke-RestMethod -Uri 'http://ift.tt/2xaDYSU' -Method Get) | Out-ChartData -LabelProperty "date" -DataProperty "close" } } } New-Row { New-Column -Size 12 { New-Grid -Title "StockPrice MSFT" ` -Headers @('Date', 'Close Stock Value', 'Low Stock Value', 'High Stock Value') -Properties @('date', 'close', 'low', 'high') ` -DefaultSortColumn 'Date' -DefaultSortDescending ` -Endpoint { $StockData = Invoke-RestMethod -Uri 'http://ift.tt/2xaDYSU' -Method Get $StockData | Out-GridData } } } } } -Port 9090 -Wait #endregion
This script will download and install the UniversalDashboard Module from the PSGallery and configure the license and start the Dashboard listening on port 9090.
Save the dockeruniversaldashboard.ps1 file on your c-drive.
Now it's time to start Docker and download the latest microsoft/powershell Docker image from the Docker Hub.
Open your PowerShell Command prompt (as Administrator) and search for the microsoft/powershell image.
If you have not downloaded the microsoft/powershell image run
docker pull microsoft/powershell
in the PowerShell Console.
With the command
docker images
you can see your installed Docker images.
Now we can run the following docker commands to start our Universal Dashboard hosted in the Docker microsoft/powershell instance.
docker run -d -p 9090:9090 --rm --name ud -i -v c:/Temp:/data microsoft/powershell docker exec -i ud powershell -file ./data/dockeruniversaldashboard.ps1
Above docker commands start the Docker container with the ports mapped and the c:\temp folder mapped where we saved the dockeruniversaldashboard.ps1 file we created earlier.
The second command starts the PowerShell script in the Docker instance.
Here we see an animated gif showing the end result.
Go buy your PowerShell Pro License and start creating cool Dashboards.
