I loved this bar so much. It was one of maybe three haunts in midtown that I was into. We hope that this new decade that 2020 has brought in will be a better one for small unique businesses than the past decade as so many shops, restaurants and bars have shuttered. The original location of Subway Inn on East 60th Street opposite Bloomingdales which opened in 1927, sadly closed in 2014 after the building owner declined to renew their lease as they wanted to build high-end luxury condos on the site. Thankfully, Marcello Salinas who started out mopping floors at the bar when he immigrated to the U.S. before taking ownership of the #divebar was able to relocate the @subwayinn #bar in 2015 to 2nd Ave at East 60th Street and even brought over the bar’s iconic #neon #signage. Bailey Fountain at Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, New York

I’ve been playing ping pong in my head and debating if I should switch from an I-Phone or a proper DSLR camera.  So, I purchased a DSLR camera at the top of summer and made my way through four photography classes thus far.  What is interesting is that the I-Phone is a pretty decent camera and can turn just about anyone into a photographer. 

It wasn’t until I picked up a DSLR camera and started to learn about the basic functionality that I realized just how hard photography could be.  After all, don’t photographers just point and shoot?  Yes and no.  Through these classes and the attempts to take photos using a Canon DSLR camera, there are so many more options and factors and point of view that is taken into consideration to get just the right shot.  The next series of photos will feature photos taken with my Canon EOS 30D camera.  

And, if you’re curious, i’m still playing that ping pong game in my head of whether or not I should switch from an I-Phone to my Canon.
