Horror Pain Gore Death Productions Set To Release Split Album Between INVIDIOSUS And LPP In August

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions are set to release the new explosive split album from Minnesota’s Deathgrinding maniacs INVIDIOSUS and Korea’s Hardcore/Grind/Power Violence act LPP, August 9th on CD and Digital formats.

INVIDIOSUS make their return to HPGDwith four new vicious tracks of anxiety-driven Death/Grind that destroy, with a lineup featuring members of Deterioration and Rottenness.

It’s no secret that Tarquinia has produced a few bad apples whose wretched acts eventually brought about the end of the Regal period, and I just wanted to take a moment to highlight a few of my favorite things about some of those lovely folk.

Firstly, I can only imagine Shakespeare drew his inspiration for Lady Macbeth from Tullia Minor, the wife of L. Tarquinius Superbus. Superbus indubitably lived up to the expectations of his cognomen, loathing Servius Tullius’ origin from the supposed “dregs of society,” as Livy puts it. Interestingly, however, Livy suggests that much of the actions Superbus took against Servius were at the prompting of his wife (and Servius’ daughter). Unlike Lady Macbeth, however, Tullia actually committed the heinous act of patricide/regicide herself, after Superbus thrust Servius down the senate house stairs, a very slapstick-esque moment if you ask me (come to think of it, Tullia’s murder-by-wagon is similarly comedic when I play out the scene in my head).

One could only imagine what sort of demon-spawn these two evil geniuses could produce. Luckily, we don’t have to imagine, because Sextus Tarquinius existed.

So imagine you’re chilling with the lads, having a drink, talking about your wives, and your bro tries to one-up you by touting the superiority of his wife--how virtuous and pure she is. As it turns out, his words were true: his wife is the spitting image of perfection. You might acknowledge your defeat perhaps, and congratulate your friend on his lovely spouse. For Tarquin, not so.

If I were to grant Tarquin a cognomen of his own, I believe ‘Invidiosus’ would fit him most suitably. “One who is envious�� (I think--I haven’t utilized my Latin for a few years) typifies the sort of man who covets his friend’s virtuous wife so strongly that he is willing to defile her for his own satisfaction.

Thankfully, the enraged household gods of L. Tarquinius Superbus saw to it that his horrible reign would end just as badly as it had begun, as the death of Lucretia ultimately ushered in a new age for Rome headed by the righteous Brutus and Collatinus.
