Well tonight is on me. I missed a spin jam I’d been looking forward to cause I didn’t stick it in my calendar with an alarm and I generally know better. So in honor of missing another chance to spin fire. I give you my first ever experience with Palm Torches! I had never touched them a day in my life but after playing with my friend’s pair....i ordered my own. So this blip came later in the night last weekend. I’ve even been working a lot more on my extensions and flowers since last weekend but this is how it begins. Some looks pretty and some you see how much work has to go in to make things flow pretty. This was still the same the first time playing with fire again. This video is not as smooth in the beginning of my flow but it wasn’t bad, considering. I hadn’t burned my Contact Staff since the last night I was at burn either. However this is my newer prop for sure. I started with a course with @vimalafaith and @Video’d here is less of a flow sequence then me trying out some tricks I had learned to see if I still felt brave enough to do them. I’m excited to practice without fire more this week because I feel like I have some new things to train myself to do and do comfortably! So happy to keep spinning. So basically I learned this prop 2 months before Burning Man and burnt it for the first time a couple weeks before we were there. Always a work in progress ! So in a previous post I mentioned “firsts”. Well I’ve decided to share the end of a 5 minute video of my first experience ever spinning fire! I got schooled on more fire safety and was covered head to toe. Bae made sure the fuel was a little less strong then more experienced spinners may use. I expected to do nothing more then roll the fire poi back and forth and maybe in circles too once I got over the sound, heat and and initial fear of getting hit with the fire 🔥. Instead I felt confident after a bit and I did front and reverse weaves, butterflies, turns, stall and maybe a little more. Crushed for space on instagram, Ove chopped to the very end. What you are missing is the initial caution followed by holding poi further away so I didn’t get hi but gradually I found a vibe and loved it! I’m addicted and I want more. What I want to send out to the world is: Be the inspiration that you seek. Be fearless, have courage, don’t let someone tell you that you are too old to try something new. But most of all surpass the limits you’ve set on yourself. I promise the biggest surprise you will see is that you can do more than you think!
