Infrared at 720nm

Two of my favorite infrared waterscapes. First shot is on the river in Saint Augustine, Florida. Second is of a canal on the bayside of Ocean City, Maryland.

A 720 nanometer infrared pass filter is placed on the front of my lens, darkening the exposure drastically while emphasizing the sun's reflection on vegitation which becomes visible at this point on the spectrum. A red and blue channel swap is performed in photoshop to create the white trees and cotton candy sky effect. This channel swap is necessary (and universally agreed upon) to replicating the original film infrared look, in digital format.

the first shots is in long exposure with an infrared filter (720nm); the second one is with a CPL and edited to give the sky a dark tone (except for a couple of small clouds).

Images are both shot at 720 nanometers.

長居植物園の酔妃蓮は名物だったけどなくなった。桃ヶ池はこんなにハス が繁っているのに写真ブログやSNSで見たことない。なんで？花が少ないとか？
