basically psyche was this supersupperrr pretty girl and venus (aphrodite in greek mythos) got jealous & she set up her son, cupid, to shoot her with his arrow and make her fall in love with a poor merchant

instead he hurts himself with his own arrow (💀) and he fell in love. cupid brought psyche to a palace and made these inanimate objects take care of her (beauty and the beast style)

he was basically the perfect husband, aside from the fact that psyche never saw his face ever. cupid said that he would leave her if she ever saw him. the voices would take care of her in the day, and her husband will come at night when she cant see her face.

one night, cupid was asleep, and psyche brought a lantern to see his face bcz she COULDNT HANDLE HER CURIOUSITY (girl...) but the oil from the lantern dropped down and woke up cupid... he up and left like my dad for milk after that T_T

i think its rlly interesting in the way that it shows the expectation vs reality of love. like she thought abt all these possibilities and imaginations of what her lover looked like. kinda like our thoughts with fictional characters dont u think??
