I'm not complaining. It's a terribly underrated ship 😔 love me a simp simping for its Lord :3c

Isaac heard the crack of a nail as it gripped the table with too much force.

It did not feel the pain. It was but a mere drop in the ocean of agony surrounding it, drowning it, every inch of its skin begging to be flayed out of its body to escape the sensation of dead blood worming its way inside it.

Oh, it was bliss!

To be pierced, stained, changed by its Lord Himself according to His design... what did Isaac do to deserve to be touched by His claw?

Isaac could not see what had become of its body, for it could not wipe away its treacherous tears. Judging by Lord Dracula's elegant twist of his wrists, it must have been nothing short of a masterpiece. Its Lord's claw danced on its skin, carving alchemical runes and arcane figures and pouring His blood inside it, to purify it and mark it as only the most loyal tool deserved.

Each wound was seared shut by the vampire's frigid lips, accompanied by a chuckle at Isaac's whimpers as it bit its tongue to not beg for more than what it was given.

"Keep staying still, my good doll," He cooed, His nails scratching Isaac's hip bone. It arched its back for only a second, then it willed its weak, worthless body to obey. Lord Dracula trusted it, and it could not prove Him wrong.

Another shard of pain lanced through it. It was that of the cage confining it, locked by its Lord so that He could work without distractions. (That, and it was improper for good dolls to make their filthy needs known, Lord Dracula had been very clear on that.) Isaac tried its very best to keep the rutting of its hips to a minimum, but oh, its core ached to be touched by that elegant hand stroking taut skin... just one drop of relief amidst the flames licking its skin...

And the merciful God that He was, Lord Dracula gave it to it, kissing the bleeding hip with nothing but the most crystalline love for His patient doll, passing His mouth over the ilium bone and sacrilegiously close to its patch of hair.

"Good job, doll. My perfect toy."

The tears that sprung to Isaac's eyes were not of suffering anymore.

So I bought the CoD mangas in french, just to see the differences the translation had with the english one, and if there was some pearls... well, there was <3 (and also big fails such as a succubus saying that Trevor is Dracula's son LMAO) I don't have the will to follow everything with pictures so it's only going to be english quotes VS the french version I'm sorry lol

Tl;Dr: Isaac and Hector have raw gay sex in the French translation

At the beginning of the first volume, in the english version, Isaac refers to Dracula as "chief our clan of the night". But the french version have him say "master of our dark family" instead, that's cute. <3

English Isaac: Humans shall regret their sins, and the glory of god shall fall to earth. French Isaac: They were promised forgiveness for their sin, but all they got is death. Men will end up disavowing their god

That's RAW. (the french translation had such savage lines I SWEAR)

Also I will refer to "English X" and "French X" to separate the english dialogues VS the french versions, because it's much more simple, and also kinda funny.

English Isaac: I beg of you, grant me the duty to hunt down Belmont. French Isaac: Lord ! Let me prove this Belmont that you are the greatest !

Isaac is as much, if not even more of a simp in french. Good for him. Good for him.

In english, when Dracula talks about Hector's disappearance, and think about the possibility that he might have betrayed him, he says "I hesitate to consider the possibility"

In french, he says "I hope I am mistaken" :) Do with this what you will. :)

English Isaac: F-forgive me, I was out of line... French Isaac: Forgive me, master... I dared doubting you.

At some point, as Isaac is on the hunt for Hector with some dudes, said dudes start talking among themselves in the english version.

"But at a critical time like this... to have us search for someone who might not even be alive ? The count must be mad." "That's true."

Isaac is listening to them, because they're like, right here. But they're not talking to him directly... FRENCH TRANSLATOR DECIDED THEY WERE GOING TO WISH FOR DEATH, THOUGH. By making the dudes directly ask Isaac: "Sir Isaac, don't you think Count Dracula lost his mind ?"

THOSE GUYS HAVE A DEATH WISH I SWEAR. YOU DON'T ASK ISAAC SUCH A QUESTION UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE YOUR HEAD ROLLING ON THE FLOOR THE VERY NEXT SECOND- On another note, they also refer to Isaac and Hector as "the two wings that leads [their] army". Symbolism <3

English dude: F- Forgive me... English Isaac: You greenhorns. You can't even sense his presence. French dude: I... I'm sorry... French Isaac: Shut up ! You're nothing but a worthless punk not even capable of feeling an aura !

ISAAC IS SO MAD AND OFFENDED IN FRENCH LMAO

English Isaac: We're going. Hector is not dead. English dude: ! That means.. English Isaac: That's right. He's close. Hector... So after all, he is... French Isaac: We're going ! Hector is not dead ! French dude: ! Do you think he... French Isaac: Yes, he is close. Hector... I tracked you down.

So, in the manga, this is the moment the realisation that Hector is alive and might have betrayed them starts to settle in... And all Isaac can think of is getting to Hector, more than the implication that he is a traitor. He's obsessed. <3

Alright... Hector has a whole speech about strenght. Here how goes the english version:

"Power is absolute. That's right. I used to always believe that. No matter how much I prayed, no matter how much I knelt, God would do nothing for me. In the end, it was about power. Pure power... and when it came to power, there was nothing greater than a demon's power.. Even if it was learned from a demon. Power itself was neither good nor evil... But. But after all, a demon's power is a demon's power. No matter how powerful it is, cursed powers bring nothing but unhappiness. And that is.. the demon's power."

Now, how the french version goes:

"In this world, strenght is power. I've been thinking about this for a while... men can pray with all their spirit, god will never do anything for them. In the end, pure strenght wins. However, there is nothing more powerful than the demon's power. And even if your learned it from the devil... you forgot strenght doesn't know neither good nor bad. So...That I am one of yours or not doesn't matter to me ! The demonic power doesn't make any distinction ! As great as they are... Demonic powers can only bring chaos. This is... The strenght of the devil !"

Do with this what you will. For context, he is in a house rn, with Rosaly, his future love interest, and a little boy, Ted, who asked for his help to kill a werewolf (who went into the house because he was tracking Hector). At the end of the speech, he kills him. Then comes this dialogue:

English Hector: Is this my power that you wanted ? A demon ? French Hector: Was that... the help I begged for ? The help of the Devil ?

Oh yes, Hector asking Ted if this horrible cursed power is what he truly wished for when he pleaded for his help and comparing himself to a demon is great. But Hector talking to himself ? Realising how horrible Dracula's "help" actually was, that he turned him into a monster ? That's the real deal. <3

But this even made Hector's aura known by Isaac and the guys hunting him down with him. In both english and french, the random guys sense it this time (they didn't the first time, only Isaac), as much as they sensed the werewolf dying. They don't want to believe Hector killed him, at first, but then Isaac smirks and says:

English Isaac: It was Hector. French Isaac: I know it's him !

:) And as if French wasn't fruity enough...

English Isaac: Even if you guys can't tell... I can. French Isaac: You, you don't feel anything ! But me, I feel it in the deepest part of my body !

He is literally SO GAY AND I LOVE HIM.

English dude after Isaac slashed one of hem: What are you doing, sir Isaac !? French version: Sir Isaac !!! Have you lost your mind ?!?

French translation doesn't take no shit.

English Isaac There is no need to report... French Isaac: Inform the count ? Pff ! Useless...

I'm sorry but FRENCH ISAAC REALLY WANTS THAT FRENCH HECTOR'S ASS.

Ok so this is the part where we see small Isaac and Julia (because even without a name and a face, I'm still sure it's her), and DAMN

English bapy Julia: Falls English bapy Isaac: What are you doing ? Hurry and get up. English bapy Julia: But I'm so-- English bapy Isaac: We have to hurry. French bapy Julia: Falls French bapy Isaac: What the hell are you doing ?! Get up, come on ! French bapy Julia: Yes but I... French bapy Isaac: Shut up ! We gotta hurry !

FRENCH MADE BABY ISAAC SO MEAN. POOR JULIA. SOBS.

Interesting fact: When a servant comes to teenager!Isaac to tell him that Dracula "summons him to his room", french use the word "chambre". Wich is a word commonly used to refer to the bedroom. :) So he's saying "Count Dracula summons you to his bedroom." :) Mhm. :) Not to mention Hector is already there... So if anyone ships Isaacula or Isaactor or Draactor, that one's for you. <3

Start of the second volume. The french translation is kinda weird. In english, we see (what I assume are) distressed demons' voices, saying Death has been killed and it was the Belmont's fault. They clearly don't like him. And then we see a succubus who says "well, of course, the one coming with Belmont is your son, after all, count.".

But in french... the voices are HAPPY to see Trevor ?? So it seems they're not devils' voices but regular people's ? AND THE SUCCUBUS SAYS "the presence of the Belmont is not surprising, since he is the son of Count Dracula" ???????? Looks the french can't get a W everytime. :(

English Hector: A great many of us will be coming... French Hector: You can be sure he will come !

We're back on Hector, who tells Ted that he has to go to make sure him and Rosaly stay safe. English version refers to the hords of monsters / servants of Dracula that will come (including him in it, because he sees himself as a demon <3). But french Hector doesn't care about them. He only cares about one person, who he knows is on the hunt for him. I guess it's up to the reader to decide if he's thinking of Isaac or Dracula. :)

Then in english, he also says he learned the dark arts in a castle.

"I immersed myself in evil. And I commanded evil. My powers attract the ways of darkness. They are cursed".

While in french, he goes:

"To the east from here, there is a castle where the devil lives. I learned from him. He taught me how to give life to demons."

I just think it's pretty gay nice that he gives credits to Dracula. He almost sounds like he cares about his old mentor... :)

Then comes the Isaactor raw gay sex reunion scene:

English Isaac: I've been wanting to see you, General Hector. French Isaac: I missed you so much, Hector !

FRENCH ISAAC IS LITERALLY SO NOT STRAIGHT I'M OERIGHMSELKGMRESKLGNMSEKLDRNGMN Pretty sure the french translation shipped Isaactor (but also Hecula but also Draactor), because Hector responds with

English Hector: So, they've caught up with me already... Isaac. French Hector: At last, you caught up to me, Isaac !

French Isaac and Hector are so happy to see each other &lt;;3 Kiss with tongue when?

English Isaac (after a little speech to convince Hector to come back): Otherwise... You'll fall victim to my spear right now, Hector. French Isaac: If you refuse... Then you'll be forced to taste the rust of my spear.

Holy FUCK, ISAAC. WAW. That's hot.

English Hector: Ha ha ! You... Did you acquire your powers just so you could become Dracula's pawn ? French Hector: Haha ! I see. So you acquired all this power to become Dracula's pawn, right ?

The change here is pretty subtle, but it makes Hector more agressive and I kinda like it <3 He's like a salty ex lmao

English Hector: I am human. I sought this power so that I could remain human ! Not for anyone's sake ! For me !! For myself !! Not to be the pawn in some ridiculous plot for revenge !! French Hector: I am human ! I wanted these powers to accept myself as a human ! I didn't do it for anyone else ! Only for me ! Got it ?! Unlike you, it wasn't for a stupid and selfish plot for revenge !!

FRENCH HECTOR IS LITERALLY SO RAW.

English Isaac: Damn... You. You dare speak in contempt of your Lord ? French Isaac: That's it ? Are you finished yet ? As you wish ! Let's end it now !

I'm kinda sad we lost the mention of Dracula (because it showed Isaac putting Him over everyone else, himself included), but I'll excuse it because French Isaac was probably so shocked by French Hector's pure rawness <3 (in french, he then says "die!", but in a crude way. it shows how upset he is lol)

And then comes a very interesting part... :)

English Hector: Impossible... does this mean that Belmont has already...? French Hector: No ! Could it be Belmont ?

French so shipped Hecula. Look at how english Hector is shocked to feel the death of Dracula, not because he seemingly cared, but because Dracula is such a powerful being that he thought could not be easily defeated, and it happened so fast, and is the Belmont really that strong ? Did he really get to the Castle so quickly ?

But French Hector literally screams "No !", like he actually cared. Just like a victim of abuse who gets away from their abuser, but still loves them nonetheless. And friendly reminder that the French translation called Hector Dracula's "protégé". <3 I think the french translation shipped Hecula. <3

Anyway, Isaac goes mad, not much interesting fact to note except for some translation fuckery (Hector going "the count fled" instead of "they're out of control" (referring to Isaac's devils) ??? And Isaac "Dracula must lose" instead of "It can't be true, there's no way..." ??? this is an official translation btw, guys), but:

English Isaac: It's your fault, Hector. French Isaac: You are the one responsible for all of this, Hector.

Just a slight difference, but it makes French Isaac look even more salty lol

English Isaac: If... You... hadn't betrayed us... If... You hadn't run away... Then I wouldn't have had to leave count Dracula's side ! If I... If you and I had been there !! Then scum like Belmont would never have...!! Ngh... N- No... That's not it... If I... If I were at his side, at least... why...? why, sir ?! Why ?!! Why can we not even die together ?!! French Isaac: Hector... If you hadn't betrayed us... If you hadn't tried to flee like a coward ! Then I wouldn't have needed to get away from count Dracula ! You and... You and I... And also that Belmont. Us... Kh... Kh... No ! No no ! If I... If I had been by his side.. Dracula and I... why ? Why ? Why ? Why can't I disappear too, by his side ?

I'll let y'all decide wich one is more heartbreaking. <3 (I kinda struggle to properly translate the last french sentence tbh)

Then Isaac says, right before falling off a cliff:

English Isaac: Why...? Why ?! Why ?! Damn you !! French Isaac: Why... Tell me ! Why ! You...

How poetic. English Isaac curses Hector before his fall... Meanwhile French Isaac is only looking for answers. He is so not okay. <3

A bit later on, we see Isaac again, hurt in the forest:

English Isaac: Hector, damn you...! In that moment... Just barely... You missed ! You cut me... But you were being merciful with me !! Generous commander Hector... [The shame of having survived alone... How shall I make you pay for it ?] Hector... You always... You alone always kept yourself looking human ! You possessed more powerful sorcery than I !! And you were able to get closer to count Dracula over me !! You.. French Isaac: Ha... Hector ! During the battle... You only scratched me with the tip of your blade ! You mocked me... Look at how pathetic you made me ! You, the great Hector... [Being the only survivor makes me so pitiful... How do you intend to repay me ?] Hector... Since the beginning, you... you were the only one to act like a human... even though you wielded the satanic powers better than me, and you always were closer to count Dracula than me... You...

Anyway, we leave the broken boy to join the healing boy and his future wife. <3

And you've never done laundry in your life. And you saved Ted and I. That's enough for me. French Hector: Rosaly, you always see the bright side of things, don't you ? I mean... Didn't the young boy tell you anything about me ? Or are you avoiding talking about it ? What I used to do. Who I was running away from and how I killed that werewolf. Who I am and where I came from... French Rosaly: What I know about you ? Your name is Hector, and you are hurt. You never hanged clothes, and you saved Ted and I's lives. All of this is enough for me.

Them. <3 There's a little, painful difference beetween "you are hurt" and "you were injured". Hector sure is hurt, haha ! :D

And now it's Isaac spying on Hector time !

English Isaac: Haha! Don't you seem so very happy... But... Have you not forgotten all about me ? But I've been thinking about you so much everyday since then. French Isaac: Haha ! Oh how happy he looks ! It looks like... It looks like Hector already erased me from his memory... And to say that I think about him all day !

French Isaac is so in love and broken <3

English Isaac: I see. That's right.. You must think I've died ! But I'm alive, all right-- A bit tired, but alive ! I have to teach you. Definitely in a way that'll make you happy. But not yet. I have no idea what "signals" french Isaac is referring to, but hey, the rest is pretty cool <3 I like that in the french version, he says that HECTOR have to get a taste of what "happiness" is for people. <3 So he can break him harder. :)

Of course I skipped most of the manga because the differences are not always worth mentioning, when the translations are not just, exactly the same in both languages, but I think I shared the most interesting. <3 I don't know if y'all understand how raw the french is without reading it directly yourself oerighermlgrelmsngmesklng I AM STILL NOT OVER HOW MEAN BABY ISAAC IS.

Isaac, what do you admire the most about Dracula?

There is not one thing I don't admire about my Lord.

He's a generous Lord towards the ones who got shunned by God and his ilk. He accepted us, allowed us to live and grow and find our place in the world! He taught us an infinitesimal part of His immense, ancient knowledge - it is so vast, and arcane, yet He trusted us enough with it. He is a strict but fair mentor, and a capable protector of the Castle and Wallachia as a whole.

He is the kind, loving God that Christians believe their puny deity to be. I couldn't be more honored to serve Him, and I only long to make Him happy.

NFCV frustrates me on this aspect because I can see Hector cares a lot about his Lord, he defends him against Carmilla until she implies he might kill him after they win the war, and ofc his whole plan in S4 was about resurrecting him which you know if I see it purely from a shipping standpoint it really is a testament of his loyalty

ignoring the plethora of writing flaws here, it's nearly touching, you know?

but Dracula treats him like an incompetent child he could do without and he's clearly way more emotionally attached to Isaac and that saps away all the fun :(

(in my fics I tried to basically import some of these traits into their game counterparts which is the closest thing to a rewrite I'm willing to indulge in lol. Hector used to be more naive and trusting of Dracula before his pride won over, and Dracula needs emotional support and relies on him in a unhealthy way. Not 100% canon but hey it makes for a compelling dynamic to me :3c)

Absolutely insane over the idea of these two close friends bonding because the world rejected them, but their relationship eventually fraying into nothing because Dracula is a piece of shit who put pressure on them and played favorites and exarcebated their worst flaws (Hector's arrogance and Isaac's bitterness)

And insane over the idea of these two broken boys who have no one else but each other, but ending up hurting each other because power and domination is the love language they have learned from the one who raised them <3

(and the mental image of Isaac kissing Hector's bite marks and him letting him do it because it's the closest thing to intimacy he can get from his friend makes me want to drive myself into a wall)

Isaacula:

They're not obsessed over each other, Isaac is obsessed with Dracula because he's his Lord and God and savior and he would cut himself into pieces for him 😭 and Dracula just... doesn't care as much. At most he's amused by the loyalty and stubborness of his servant, he's pleased that Isaac is willing to break himself to become a dutiful tool like he should, but emotionally, Dracula gives him from granted, because why should you be fond of a tool? Maybe if Isaac asserted himself some more, like a certain other Devil Forgemaster, Dracula would have been more impressed...

Anyway I still headcanon that Dracula used his own blood to tattoo Isaac, so in a way he lives on inside him :)

Obviously you have Juste who would be confused, because this is a demon wearing the face of his dearest friend, so he wants to hate him but he struggles because he keeps seeing his Maxim. Evil Maxim hates Juste in the same way Dracula would hate a Belmont, but he also shares Maxim's memories (which in the game means that he can't remember anything Maxim can't lmao), so he'd also be confused and enraged over it?

If we take into account the headcanon that Dracula has fed from Hector and Isaac, and the former accepted it reluctantly while the latter did it eagerly, it's interesting that Isaac keeps his neck always covered while Hector exposes his throat without a worry. You'd think that it would be the other way around, right? Hector hiding the marks in shame and Isaac flaunting them. I got in an Isaactor mood again after picking up my old WIP, which is funny because the chapter I'm working on is mostly Hector bashing Isaac like the bitter ex that he is :P but yeah. They have a relationship. Not sure what kind of relationship, but they definitely have one. I wish at least one of the prequels fed me more than the smallest of breadcrumbs.

... I'm just weak for that "we're fundamentally incompatible and we are toxic for each other and we are using each other for our deepest selfish needs and yet we are so close that we're part of each other and I can't imagine my life without you" thing that is rotating in my head. Then you add the divorce, and you have a beautiful mess <3

Hecula:

"It's not my OTP," I say, as I squee fangirl-style everytime I see someone fall in hell with me, or even better draw fanart/talk about it. I may be in denial :P

Anyway, yadda yadda, it's abusive, it's gross, it's Problematic™, it hits those very nice tropes that make my brain rot faster than fruit in summer (age gap, abuse of power imbalance, mentor/protégé, manipulation...), IMO it enriches Hector's character arc of finding freedom and agency in the human world, I am utterly fascinated by how Dracula's feelings for Hector are described in Japanese, it's Lenector done right.

(I was about to tick "it would never work in canon but", just to get that bingo, but I can't lie. After all, it's canon and I have proof :P although I admit there is a lot of heavylifting to do here since we know very little of what Hector thought of Dracula pre-betrayal)

Isaacula:

The mirror opposite of Hecula. Isaac adores his Lord and would nullify himself for him, and Dracula is, at best, only mildly amused to have a dog at his beck and call, but won't grant him the Special Treatment that Isaac craves :P I still rotate in my head various possibilities on what Dracula does to Isaac, from completely ignoring him, to only feeding on him but pretty much for necessity, to also using him as a toy but without any sort of fondness, just a way to manipulate him and keeping him happy and compliant.

Sidenote, I find somewhat amusing that Isaac is "merely" Dracula's loyal servant in canon, as in one that simply didn't even think of betraying his Lord, but it's just so, so easy to imagine him as being utterly, selflessly devoted to the point of self-destruction. It's because of the collar and tattoos. Because Isaac has a fantastic character design that tells you everything you need to know about him without anyone explaining it to you. (and personally, I've always loved his line "if you have a good weapon, you use it, don't you?", which just. says a lot about him. my broken boy <3)

And second sidenote, I honestly wonder why any combination of Dracula/Hector/Isaac seems to be so unpopular, even back in the day when people were far less picky regarding ships :\ (N!Isaactor is quite popular, but I haven't found anything for N!Isaacula and N!Hecula. The latter sucks so I understand, but idk, are people really afraid of some good lord/servant ship even when positive like in the former's case?)

Isaacula + Tattoo :) (it's been a while)

The cold emanating from Lord Dracula prickled Isaac's skin. He dug his nails into his thighs and kept his head low, awaiting for what was to come. His own heartbeat pumped in his ears, and he could only imagine how strong it was for Lord Dracula's sharp senses. He was bare in His presence down to his soul - would his Master be pleased by the sight?

With his claw, Lord Dracula cut open his own wrist. Black, dense liquid bubbled to the surface, and Isaac was hit by the stench of rot, as if he were standing in a battlefield. But it was nothing he could not handle.

“Isaac. This is your last warning.” Lord Dracula's voice resonated in the throne room, and in Isaac's tight chest. “You will experience pain the likes of which you cannot comprehend.”

“I look forward to it, my Lord,” he replied, and was proud of his steady voice. Every torture would be worth it, if inflicted by his Lord's hand.

The vampire nodded, and there was nothing else to be said. “Very well. Turn around.”

As sacrilegious as the gesture felt, Isaac did as asked, and offered his back to his Lord.

He had, in retrospect, exceeded in arrogance. He had indulged in fantasies of stoically resisting the most excruciating agony, complete control over his own body, impressing his Master with his strength and commitment.

And then Lord Dracula hooked a claw underneath the skin of his back.

Isaac screamed.

The blood poured into his skin, burning, melting, and he wanted to tear it off, and all his willpower was necessary to keep his arms on his sides to not rip the flesh off his back with his bare hands, muscles tight and cramped and shredded - Isaac screamed and whimpered and gasped it burns it burns its writhing inside me get it out my Lord please please please--!!

By the time Lord Dracula removed His hand, Isaac's throat was raw. Tears had spilled out of his control: he would have slapped himself for that, but even the thought of lifting an arm exhausted him.

The blood kept worming its way through Isaac's back.

Lord Dracula rested a palm on Isaac’s chest, right above his beating heart. It was pounding so fast, Lord Dracula could grab it with His own hand. Isaac would open up his chest and give it to Him, if He so wished.

“You reek of fear, Isaac,” crooned Lord Dracula. “Are you having second thoughts?”

Just the act of breathing sent new jolts of pain through Isaac's body. Every time he did, his torso moved, and his back split open once more.

“N-no…” he could only wheeze.

“Are you understanding your own limits? Perhaps this will teach you to not promise what you cannot give…”

“I understand, but… please… continue, my Lord… I want this. I need this. I can… I can…”

“Your stubbornness is commendable, at the very least.”

How could he ever reject such a gift? His own Lord was embedding His blood in Isaac’s flesh: He was to become part of him, elevating his body and making something worthy out of it.

“The crest is now forever branded under your skin. You will die as my Devil Forgemaster, as you have requested.” The Lord's smile was nearly tangible in his voice. “You can leave, if you so choose.”

Isaac was not given permission to turn around, so he did not. But he could crane his neck back, the closest thing he could do to look at his Lord in His eyes. “I choose to stay, my Lord,” he declared.

“You got what you wanted, did you not?”

“The crest can be hidden under my clothes. What I need… is for no inch of my body to be left untouched by Your hand, so that everyone can see what I truly am. And what I am, is Yours.” Ah, that word tasted sweet on his tongue! His. Isaac was fully His, in body and soul. He belonged to Lord Dracula, and truly, there was no higher honor. “I beg you, my Lord.”

He would resist. He would prevail the limits of his useless body. Isaac refused to die until he had walked out of that room with the tattoos marking him as Lord Dracula's most loyal servant.

Despite all, I can't seem to get used to the loneliness of my existence. They say that time heals all wounds; then why does it feel like a finger prying its nails in them?

Day and night have lost meaning for me, for my sleep is short, infrequent, and plagued. Indeed, I am no longer sure what is reality and what is fantasy.

When I close my eyes, Hector is in front of me, he rips me apart with his sword and holds my heart with a cruel, doting smile on his face. When I open them, he's still here, with his glistening hair and eyes burning like ice and lovely face coated in blood.

Why wouldn’t you leave me alone, Hector…? You abandoned me to die, yet you keep following me, yet I can’t reach you. It’s not fair.

I cling onto my Chauve-Souris until my knuckles crack; the scent of old blood soothes me and grounds me. Hector is not with me. He will not kill me again. My spear is my one companion. Even my children won't answer to my call anymore.

Ah, if He could see me, his most dutiful servant... would He be disgusted with me? Oh, my Lord, please, in Your infinite mercy to the cursed creatures like I am, please forgive me for my failure, and allow me to atone for my gravest sin.

I wear the collar and chains with pride. The chains tickle my collarbones and my ribs, and the collar feels like a cold hand tight on my throat. They are comforting, a symbol that I belong somewhere, and that somewhere is at Lord Dracula’s side. As long as I wear them, I will never be alone again.

The ungrateful world may have moved on, but not me. Not me. I will always be with You, my Lord. I will make You proud.

I don't know how things go in Dracula 2020 (Jonathan becomes undead I think?), but in the book the Jonathan section is a marvel of realistic horror, of genuinely scary subtle abuse where you can see how finely Dracula is working Jonathan, destroying his sense of reality and making him feel all sorts of small and vulnerable and dependent on him. While I love how Jonathan manages to run away and the way he struggles with his trauma (honestly written better than in many modern works), at first being in deep denial for the shock but then getting ready to kill God if He stands in the way of him and shanking that monster, I'm also interested in AUs where Dracula manages to turn his new crush in a twisted, unholy marriage :) doing everything in his power to replace Mina in his heart :) corrupting this fine young upstanding man :) or does he :)

And well. I don't know what else I can say about Hecula. It's just. the narrative of the golden child who feels so loved and accepted only to realize that he's losing his sense of self, his dignity, his humanity for a cruel mentor and so decides to run away :) but the lingering effects of his servitude are always there, always affecting him and his life :) and Dracula didn't turn Hector and Isaac into vampires but he did infuse them with part of himself :) and Hector thinking about Dracula as he's dying and when he's renouncing his powers :) and the hints that Dracula did in his own way care about Hector ("the more precious things are...") :) and the narrative parallels of Hector almost falling as low as Dracula :) it's So Clear to me.

And just because I feel petty :P N!Hecula:

nah jokes aside, I can tell N!Hector respects and cares about N!Dracula, going so far as to be concerned about his wellbeing regarding Lisa's death. And as much as his plan to revive him is a spit in the face of decent character development, I can at least snicker that ohhh look at him, wanting his master back, that's true love <3 game Isaac would be proud <3

But since N!Dracula is so mean to him and treats him like deadweight and clearly is in a relationship with N!Isaac, it's not as interesting. When I want to indulge in simp who'd die for his lord/lord who only sees his simp as a toy, Isaacula is right there :V
