Continental’s Portuguese tyre plant gets ISCC PLUS sustainability certification Continental's tyre plant in Lousado, Portugal has received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS. The international certification confirms the manufacturer’s compliance with special sustainability standards at its Lousado plant; specifically the transparency and traceability of renewable and recycled raw materials along the entire supply chain. The manufacturer said that the certification represents an important milestone on its journey towards 100 per cent sustainable materials in its tyre products, a target Conti has set for 2050. Conti already produces what it says is the most sustainable tyre on the market at Lousado. The UltraContact NXT contains up to 65 per cent renewable, recycled and mass balance certified materials. Hello everyone welcome back to this Blog we are discussing about SOWP extension along with PGWP application that is the topic of today in this particular Blog I’m going to clear all the doubts related to SOWP extension PGWP application is quite easy and if you are not going to do any blunders in your application in that case it is easily approved as well but SOWP spouse open work permit extension application is a tricky application if you’re going to make any mistake in this application in that case it can result in a refusal and spouse can go out of status in Canada and it can become a really big problem for you so if you are going to complete your study now in April 2025 and you are married and you need to apply for SOWP extension as well along with your PGWP application in that case this is the Blog for you in this Blog I’m going to share all the details related to what kind of jobs are required who requires a job and all the other doubts related to SOWP extension so to clear everything related to SOWP extension read this Blog till the end.

1.1 When to Apply?

There can be three type of scenarios where you can apply for SOWP extension :

1.1.1 With PGWP Application?

First scenario is along with PGWP application usually people are not applying for it i don’t know what’s the reason but in past when I applied for PGWP applications for married people I applied for SOP extension along with PGWP application only many people are worried about whether they are going to get the appropriate job or not i’m going to discuss that as well but even if you don’t have a job as a primary applicant you are applying for PGWP application and you don’t have a full-time job and that’s why you don’t want to apply for SOWP extension right now don’t do it apply for PGWP plus SOWP extension together that’s the best time to apply even if you don’t have a full-time job as the primary applicant who is applying for PGWP application even if you don’t have a full-time job don’t worry about it you can submit your job documents later on as well during the processing of the application PGWP application is going to take 3 to 4 months of time usually so during this period in next 2 three months you can get a full-time job and submit it to ISCC through a web form and it will be attached with your application and now SOWP extension eligibility will be cleared don’t worry about it so do not stop your SOWP extension file because you don’t have a full-time job right now on the appropriate level many people are worried about we don’t have tier zero or one job you can have tier two or three level jobs as well and still can be eligible for SOWP extension so don’t worry about the job right now just submit the application.

1.1.2 After PGWP Application?

Reapply for PGWP:

You need to submit a second PGWP application during the processing of your first application.

This second application is required for the SOWP (Spousal Open Work Permit) extension.

Cost:

You will need to pay an additional $255 for the second PGWP application.

Two PGWP Applications:

You will have two PGWP applications running at the same time:

The first one, which you submitted in April after receiving your course completion letter.

The second one, which is essentially a “dummy” application to facilitate the SOWP extension.

SOWP Extension Application:

Along with the second PGWP application, you will also submit the SOWP extension application.

The second PGWP application is submitted solely to support the SOWP extension.

Process After Approval:

Once the first PGWP application (submitted in April) is approved, you will inform the visa officer through Webform.

Attach the approval of the first application to the second application and request the officer to process the SOWP extension application, not the second PGWP application.

Why Two Applications Are Needed:

The GC (Government of Canada) does not allow the submission of a SOWP extension application without a PGWP application.

This is why two PGWP applications need to run concurrently.

Extra Expense:

The second PGWP application incurs an additional $255 cost.

This is a penalty due to the mistake of not submitting both applications (PGWP and SOWP) together.

Benefit of Submitting Separately:

One advantage is that you get extra time to search for a job:

You apply for the PGWP first, and while it’s being processed, you submit the SOWP extension application in August 2025.

This gives you 3-4 months of additional time to search for a job to become eligible for the SOWP extension.

Overall Process:

While there is an extra cost, this approach allows you to buy more time to secure full-time employment, which can be beneficial for the SOWP extension.

Best Practice:

Ideally, you should submit both the PGWP and SOWP extension applications together to avoid extra costs and complications in the future.

When you can submit it alone after getting PGWP approval so either submit it along with PGWP application same time same application so you are submitting your application of PGWP plus you are submitting SOWP extension and for kids if you have kids then you are submitting kids application as well so you are applying for the entire family together so this is when you are applying for PGWP application if you don’t want to do it or if you missed it you didn’t know about it in that case you can submit application for your SOWP expansion later on but you need to submit another PGWP application for yourself and there can be two applications running at the same time and for the second PGWP application you can update for that later on that I received the result approval of my previous PGWP application my first PGWP application and please see this result and I got the approval now just process the SOWP extension application of my spouse that’s it third condition after getting PGWP approval you can submit SP extension most people think about it that okay once I get my PGWP approval I don’t want to risk my PGWP even though there is no risk even if you apply for the entire family even if spouse get refusal PGWP application will not be impacted and PGWP approval is based on your application only based on your study only SOWP refusal does not impact your PGWP file so many people are afraid of it many people are afraid that I don’t have a full-time job which makes spouse eligible for SPWP extension so that’s why many people want to avoid all those things and want to apply for PGWP alone and they think that after getting the PGWP approval after getting my PG work permit then I am going to apply for my family for my dependence so you can do that but there is one problem in that many people stuck in this particular process because usually the time duration of getting PGWP approval is four five months if that happens usually spouse reaches the expiry date of spouse open worker and you need to apply for SOP extension before the expiry of SOWP that happens that’s why many people stuck in this second scenario that initially they thought that we are going to apply for SOWP extension after getting our approval but later on because they don’t get result on time and SOWP is expiring very soon they need to apply for SOWP extension even before getting the approval of PG worker.

1.2 Who Needs Job for SOWP Extension

Let’s clear about the job requirement for SOWP extension and for PGWP for PGWP alone if you are not married you are alone you don’t require to apply for SOWP extension in that case primary applicant does not require the PGWP applicant does not require any kind of job so to get PG work permit to get PG work permit only you do not require any kind of job even if you don’t have a job you can apply for PG work permit and you will get it okay even if you are married in that case your PG work permit will not be refused just because you don’t have a job but to get SOWP extension primary applicant needs appropriate job i’m going to explain appropriate job very soon so it is going to be on tier zero level or one level or on two level or on three level so we are going to explain all the levels to you .

1.2.1 Primary Applicant – Needs Appropriate Job

Primary Applicant for SOWP extension primary applicant will require appropriate job but just to get PG work permit just to get PG work permit even if you are married unmarried you don’t require any job but for SOWP extension primary applicant who is applying for PGWP PG work permit will require an appropriate full-time job it will be required .

1.2.2 Secondary Applicant – Not Mandatory but Recommended

Secondary Applicant it’s not mandatory to have a job suppose husband is applying for PG work permit wife is applying for SOWP extension Then husband will require a full-time job wife will not require any kind of job it’s not mandatory but if you have it it’s recommended that you have a full-time job it always always if if it is little bit subjective visa officer can see that okay you are working full-time it always improves your visa chances but overall it’s not mandatory to have full-time job for a secondary applicant as per rule okay so if you are doing a full-time job great if you are not doing it it’s fine it’s not a problem primary applicant must have a full-time job not at the time of submission of application but at least at the time of processing of application .

1.3 Job Requirements for PGWP Applicant

Teer 0 or 1 level of job any job on Teer 0 or 1 so this can work second on Teer 2 or 3 specific job profiles I’m going to share specific job profiles as well so you require either tier zero or one job or two or three in the specific job profiles if these jobs are there with the primary applicant who is applying for PG work permit or already have a PG work permit so this person will require these type of jobs if this person is having the primary applicant is having tier zero or one level of job any job or tier two or three level of job in specific job profiles then it will make you eligible for SOWP extension so these are the jobs which are required.

1.4 Job Required for PG Work Permit Alone?

Yes though in past as well we have received for example when we submitted application in January 2025 that time at the time of submission of application many people had offer letter where the job was starting in Feb 2025 and we submitted this offer letter stating that right now I just have this offer letter as the primary applicant and I’m going to start my job in February whenever they started their job in February that time we just submitted and updated file that I have started doing my job then they got the salary slip then we submitted the salary slips as well then can you change the job as well this question is not covered can you change the job as well initially you said that I am assistant manager retail and according to this job I am eligible for SOWP extension great but later on you become assistant manager restaurant can I change the job in between the processing of application the answer is yes here also I was eligible for SOWP extension here also I am eligible for SOWP extension so you can change the job it’s not a problem at all it’s not a concern so you can proceed for changing of job if you are getting an opportunity better opportunity proceed for it it’s not a problem.

1.5 Can Future Job Offer be Submitted with PGWP & SOWP Ext Application?

1.6 Can We Submit Job Offer after Submission of PGWP & SOWP Ext Application?

Yes I have already answered it for example if you submit your application in April 2025 and later on in June you get a full-time job then we can submit this offer letter later on through webform to IRCC and suppose the application processing happened in August 25 that time because we submitted the offer letter in June visa officer will be able to check it and because it is updated with the application visa officer will check it and grant visa for PGWP and SWP extension as well.

1.7 Will it impact PGWP, if SOWP Extension is Refused?

Will it impact PGWP application if SP extension is refused for example if you don’t even get a job don’t even get a full-time job throughout and you reach the PGWP application processing time this officer is now having your application in hand and still there is no job with you and this officer sees that okay because you are not eligible SOWP extension will be refused will it impact PGWP file as well the answer is no there is no impact on PGWP file and PGWP file will be accepted you’ll be granted PGWP PC work permit so don’t worry about it but SWOP will be refused because you did not meet the eligibility to get SOWP so  PGWP will not be impacted don’t worry about it no need to worry.

1.8 What if PGWP Applicant do NOT get a Full-time Job Offer till the Processing of PGWP & SOWP Ext Application?

What if PGWP applicant do not get PGWP applicant means primary applicant do not get a full-time job offer full-time job offer in the processing of PGWP then what is going to happen there are two scenarios one visa officer can straight away refuse SOWP extension application or can send you additional document request ADR to prove that you are eligible that this primary applicant is having a full-time job on appropriate tier levels  to make SOWP eligibility if still you do not reply appropriately in that case visa officer can refuse application after the submission of your reply so there can be three scenarios first scenario is straightaway refusal second scenario is ADR after getting the ADR you will submit a reply and after the submission of reply if it is satisfactory visa officer accept your application then you will be granted SOWP extension and if visa officer is not satisfied it can be refused as well so these three scenarios can be there in this particular scenario.

1.9 What if SOWP Ext is Refused?

What if SOWP extension is refused now there can be two scenarios here first scenario is S SOP is refused before SOWP expiry and second is after SOWP expiry so these two scenarios are there if it is refused before SOWP expiry for example you submit your file now in April 25 and you get the refusal in August 25 but SOWP has the expiry date of 30th August 2025 and you got refusal on 25th August 2025 you still have spouse still have five more days in the expiry of SOWP here in this particular scenario we can submit one more application without restoring the status spouse is still not out of status spouse has the permit till 30th August 2025 we still have five more days to submit another SOWP extension application without restoring the status because spouse has the status till 30th August 2025 so this is one scenario so before SOWPP expiry we get the result of SOWP extension and it is refused if we get the result after the expiry suppose we get the result on 15th September so if we get the refusal on 15th September and SOWP is already expired on 30th August now after that we have 90 days of time to restore the status then what we are going to do we are going to restore the status and by paying the fee and we will apply for SOWP again spouse open work permit again and we need to pay this fee as well so we need to restore the status and open work permit application as well and that’s how we are going to proceed for the application.

1.9.1 What is restoration of status?

It means you are already out of status if you are inside Canada and if your status is expired then you become out of status and if you are out of status then to apply for any further application you need to restore your status and you have 90 days of time to restore your status you cannot just submit restoration application individually it happens it is submitted along with some other application here we are going to apply for another open work permit spouse open work permit application so this will be the application but because I am out of status and out of status for less than 90 days that’s why I will be able to restore my status as well so I can submit restoration of status fees plus SOWP spouse open up open work permit application and I will submit the application both of these applications together restoration of status is not an application it is just an additional fee with a request that restore my status and give me work permit as well.

Pesto Barilla presentó su Accademia del Basilico: el nuevo programa educativo para cultivadores de albahaca

Con el inicio de la temporada de siembra de albahaca, Barilla lanzó Accademia del Basilico, un programa de capacitación diseñado especialmente para empoderar agricultores y enseñarles técnicas y prácticas para el cultivo sostenible de albahaca. Ante el aumento global de la demanda de pesto —el mercado tuvo un crecimiento del 17 % en el volumen entre 2023 y 2024—, Barilla sitúa a la albahaca, su ingrediente estrella, en el centro de su estrategia de sostenibilidad.

Elaborado a partir de una cadena de suministro 100 % italiana, el pesto de Barilla se produce con albahaca cultivada de manera sostenible y cuenta con la certificación ISCC Plus como parte de la Barilla Basil Charter, un conjunto de directivas verificadas por RINA (organismo independiente). Este compromiso con la sostenibilidad se refuerza ahora con la nueva Accademia del Basilico.

En colaboración con DINAMICA, una entidad especializada en formación agroalimentaria, y con el apoyo de Open Fields Srl, Barilla desarrolló este programa integral, que fue lanzado en enero de 2025. Consta de siete clases que buscan mejorar las prácticas agrícolas en la cadena de suministro de la albahaca. El objetivo es fomentar relaciones a largo plazo con las comunidades agrícolas y agregar valor a la cadena de suministro de la albahaca de Barilla.

“Nuestra Accademia del Basilico no tiene que ver únicamente con la agricultura, sino que pretende crear una comunidad de cultivadores que puedan intercambiar conocimientos, ayudarse entre sí y adoptar prácticas sostenibles que mejoren la cadena de suministro de la albahaca", dijo Matteo Gori, presidente de Condimentos de Barilla.

El programa abordó temas fitosanitarios clave para analizar el impacto económico y productivo de las enfermedades y plagas que afectan al cultivo de la albahaca. Los agricultores aprendieron a reconocer los síntomas de algunas enfermedades, identificar infestaciones y aplicar técnicas eficaces de prevención y control. Por otra parte, el tema de la Agricultura 4.0 brindó la oportunidad de discutir el potencial de la gestión agrícola de "precisión", donde las tecnologías digitales resultan útiles en la planificación de estrategias para actividades agrícolas.

En 2024, Barilla introdujo un nuevo envase: Half Flint Jar, fabricado con hasta un 65 % de vidrio reciclado y que se utiliza en más de 43 millones de recipientes de pesto —cifra que seguirá creciendo en los próximos años—. El envase fue desarrollado en colaboración con Zignago Vetro y reduce significativamente el consumo de materias primas, el uso de energía y las emisiones de CO2. Una Declaración de producto medioambiental (EPD), un informe certificado que detalla el impacto del ciclo de vida del producto, confirma que estos envases reducen las emisiones en un 28 % en relación con el vidrio extrablanco estándar, si se compara con la misma fuente de suministro de electricidad en las dos producciones.

Scadono l’8/04/2025 le istanze di candidatura ai Progetti di Formazione per “Agricoltura innovativa e sostenibile” – CUP G14D25001020009 – Tipologia A e “Nuovi modelli di produzione e di gestione colturale” – CUP G14D25001010009- Tipologia B, finanziati dal FEARS Basilicata nell’ambito della Misura 1 Trasferimento di conoscenze e azioni di informazione – Sottomisura 1.1 Sostegno per azioni di formazione professionale e acquisizione di competenze.

I corsi, totalmente gratuiti ed in partenza ad Aprile 2025 in modalità ibrida E-learning e lezioni in presenza, prevedono il rilascio dell’Attestato di Partecipazione e sono rivolti a:

– imprenditori del settore agricolo, alimentare, zootecnico e forestale che abbiano sede legale e/o almeno una sede operativa/unità locale in Basilicata.

– lavoratori dipendenti e compartecipanti familiari purché iscritti all’INPS in grado di dimostrare, mediante EC INPS, almeno 102 giornate di iscrizione nell’ultimo biennio.

In particolare, il Progetto “Agricoltura innovativa e sostenibile” – CUP G14D25001020009 – Tipologia A, della durata di 150 ore, è finalizzato allo sviluppo di competenze professionali innovative e sostenibili di gestione, organizzazione e sviluppo d’impresa, volte a rafforzare l’empowering innovation del Sistema Agricolo Lucano (ICT, AI e AR, utilizzo dei DRONI e Cloud computing) con focus specifico sui sistemi di certificazione della filiera sostenibile (ISCC Plus e GLOBALGAP), sulle nuove cultivar e sui cambiamenti climatici.  

Il Progetto  “Nuovi modelli di produzione e di gestione colturale” – CUP G14D25001010009- Tipologia B, della durata di 80 ore, è invece finalizzato allo sviluppo di competenze tecnico professionali in tema di Sicurezza alimentare, Sistemi di qualità e certificazione, Innovazione tecnologica di prodotto e di processo e di Marketing, in ottica di Compliance 5.0, determinanti per garantire lo sviluppo sostenibile e competitivo del Sistema rurale e agroalimentare lucano e il consolidamento dei Sistemi di qualità delle produzioni regionali.
