the way that one line from the new epilogue in an astarion romance is going to HAUNT me
just. what a profoundly intense thing to confess to someone.
like, just these six months of newfound happiness with you exerts a force on his heart equal and in direct opposition to two centuries of endless torment, the gnawing hunger and exploitation. this flashbulb-bright fraction of his long life holds the same gravity to him as years upon years of darkness and suffering.
in all likelihood, he hasn’t even known his lover for as long as his worst memory lasted, that year sealed away to go mad from starvation and sensory deprivation, yet he still tells them this brief time has been so fundamentally and powerfully important that the weight of even that unimaginable hell is vanishingly small compared to this present he has now and the future ahead of them both.
how am i supposed to act normal about this.

SO, I made my own tragic legendary sea cookie since that seems to be the theme for devsis in between comms-
Beneath the dark, forgotten waves of the west sea, amongst a once bustling and colorful coral forest is it's sleepy monarch; Grand Reef Cookie. A jolly, yet strangely complaisant individual who spends his frail, doddering years tending to the decaying remains of his children's once proud homeland.
They have all left, of course. Some more hesitant than others to leave their loving father's side. But, Grand Reef Cookie was insistent of their retreat. That, unlike him, they were not bound to their namesake in soul and body. That the ocean held much more plentiful and vibrant sights that were not to be wasted fretting over a forgotten relic of the past.
That doesn't stop many from visiting though... Bringing with them trinkets and offerings to help alleviate his wistful loneliness.
But, unlike some of his children, Grand Reef doesn't harbor any resentment for cookies. It's just not in his nature to harbor any hatred for... Well, anything, really. A reef is meant to be a nurturing and peaceful place for even the most ruthless apex predator, to be unwelcoming and unkind to even one creature would go against his very nature.
________
Why be a betrayed and/or volatile tragic, when you can be a sweet, hospice patient kind of tragic? That, and sea pollution and global warming tragic, I mean it's right there-

hc that the moment jason got his Ambrosia taste back was after he went to visit Sally and tried her blue cookies, and for the first time ever, Jason's Ambrosia started having actual taste, and it tastes like Sally's blue cookies, it tastes like home.

[ cw: death mention / family death mention / ]
Mhmm I sure love thinking of the reality where we did get more time to really know Karai and her dynamics with the bros. Losing her hit hard in the finale, but it would’ve hit much, much harder had we known Karai longer and really saw her relationships develop with everyone.
I especially would have been interested in her dynamic with Leo, as past iterations often have the two of them clash in ideals and the like while still sharing many characteristics. Two sides of the same coin, and all that. Her specifically being the bros’ Gram-Gram also adds a whole new dynamic as well.
Imagine how interesting it would be, to have Karai start off on Leo’s side for once, showing wholly just how alike the two are at their cores and bonding as family without the worry of betrayal or animosity that other iterations suffer through, only to have Karai die anyway. Their parting hug and the desperate look of horror Leo wears later on would have hit that much harder, I feel.

I finally found the words to describe why I feel like the Inquisitor has no personality (besides the obvious) it’s the humorous options.
In the other games the humorous options were good because they were So Out Of Pocket and inappropriate. You cant consistently use funny options without being. a bit of an asshole at times.
The inquisitor’s funny options are dinner party funny. You cant be a scoundrel or a lovable asshole or an annoying little shit. Even at your funniest you’ve just got the personality of. A guy trying to charm his girlfriends family. Or his boss, which I guess is the point. But still.

In the dim of night, the sound of your door opening drags you out of your concentration. You save your progess and stand to your feet, moving towards your living room your boyfriend's hoodie keep you warm.
Anton is where you expect him to be, his backpack slung onto your love seat, struggling to to take off his jacket. "you're home late." you say, he tenses up turning over to look at you. relief very clearly washing over him.
"Today was really hectic, got berated at practice, professor gave us a huge project to work on, so i had to get started on that. Then I got held back over time at the cafe." he explained followed by a string of curses, still struggling to take of his jacket. you beeline to him, pulling the stuck sleeve off, throwing it to where his bag was.
Before you could say something new, he pulls you into a warm embrace, his arms squeezing you tight. "i really missed you." your hands wrap around him pulling him closer. "same here." you pause.
"wanna take a shower to ease your nerves a bit? " " just wanna hold you." "we could shower together." you pause giving him space to respond, "then have some soup to end the day?" he shifts, standing straight his arms moving to your neck. "sounds great."
