Winter slumber

Steve Harrington x reader

Contents: just fluff, mentions of wintertime (I totally didn't start to write this in November shhh)

Steve shivered as he tried to open the front door, arms full of groceries. The snow covering the ground had fallen overnight and showed no sign of stopping. The store was full of people stocking up last minute, including himself.

Thankfully, Steve is prepared most of the time, and there were canned goods aplenty. But he almost had to take down an old lady for a loaf of bread.

"Honey, I'm home," Steve calls as he stomps his feet, letting the snow fall off in clusters on the rug. Steve frowns when there is no response, calling out,"I said 'Honey, I'm home'?"

Steve taps his feet a couple of more times, before giving up. He'll wipe the floor with a towel, he's gonna leave tracks in either way. He's more concerned with setting the groceries down before the bags rip or his arms do.

You aren't in the kitchen when he deposits the groceries on the table. You don't come into the kitchen when he is putting everything away. You don't greet him at all as he takes his shoes off and wipes the floor of any stray snow and wet footprints.

Steve peeks into the living room and frowns, his brow becoming furrowed. You aren't sitting under the crocheted blanket Mrs. Henderson gave him. Which is where he had left you. Steve puts his hands on his hips and looks around.

There is no sign of life in the living room at all. For a split second, the terrible thought he has entered the Twilight Zone and doesn't live with his partner occurs. He scowls and bats the thought away, he should never have let you and Eddie have a marathon of that show.

Steve can't help the frown spreading across his face. He had wanted to see you smiling at him. Maybe have you jump up and give him a kiss. Warm him up a bit from the chill outside.

Steve shakes his head, groaning as his hair falls in his eyes. Stupid snow melting and getting his hair wet. His hair falling makes him realize his clothes are wet and he is cold.

Steve shrugs his winter coat off, hanging it on the hook. It falls off, the heft of the winter coat too much to stay on a small iron piece. Steve tilts his head back in frustration exhaling slowly. He unties his boots, grumbling lightly to himself as he tosses them on the towel to dry and picks up his coat.

Steve cautiously puts the coat back on the hook, hands hovering to make sure it doesn't fall. When it stays put, he sighs in relief. He takes two steps towards the stairs when he hears the coat hit the ground. He sighs again. It'll be there when he gets back, after he puts on some dry clothes.

Steve pads up the stairs, frustration simmering under his skin. Stupid coat. Stupid snow. He throws the door open to the bedroom an-

Oh.

You're like a vision. A soft respite from a long days work. You're simply sitting in bed, covers pulled up around you, thumbing through a magazine.

Your smile is dazzling as you beam at him. Steve can feel his heart stutter before beating faster. He wants you to always look at him like that. Full of love and adoration and joy at being with the person you love.

"Hey! When did you get back?" You ask, starting to pull the covers back. "No, stay warm," Steve walks quickly to your side of the bed. He kisses your forehead, smiles at you, then kisses you on the lips.

You grin up at him, hand running up and down his arm," Hi." Steve cups your cheek with a hand," What are you doing in bed, hm?" "Got cold and tired. Perfect solution, blankets and a nap."

Steve nods a few times before stretching his arms above his head. He doesn't miss your eyes darting to the stretch of stomach that becomes visible as his hem lifts up. "That sounds good." He says, going to the dresser to get out of his cold jeans.

Steve shoves his jeans down, scoffing and rolling his eyes with a smile at the whistle you let out at the sight of his boxer brief clad ass. He quickly puts on his plaid pajama pants you bought (you have a matching pair that he hopes you are currently wearing). It is cold in the house, he realizes as he heads back to the bed. He wonders how much the electric bill will go up if he increases the heat. He hates to think you were sitting cold without him to warm you up.

Steve slides under the blankets. He barely has laid down before you're curling into him. Steve can't help the smile spreading across his face as he lifts his arm and wraps it around you. Your head rests against his chest, one of your hands coming to rest against his stomach under his shirt.

Steve sighs contentedly as he closes his eyes. He can feel the tension in his shoulders start to release as he relaxes into the bed. "I love you," Steve whispers into the stillness. "I love you more," You whisper back. "That's impossible-" "You're impossible!" You poke his side lightly before mumbling," I love you," again.

Steve smiles as he starts to fall asleep. Lying here with you? He wants that peace for the rest of his life. Wants to find a way to carve out his chest and hide you inside it forever. But for now, he'll take this moment with you.

Initial drawings of that old man… I literally, I haven’t finished reading the book of bill yet!!! I had to stop and take a break for a week to feverishly draw fanart of myself petting fords floofy hair and giving him attention and shit…!!!! The urge was too great….!! I’ve literally. I had a crush on this guy the instant he was first REVEALED in the show, but I did not have the artistic prowess to draw good looking old men back then… but I do now… thank god… thank fucking god

Yk, I hate that adaptations keep making Peter a high schooler, and not just because it means he never evolves, but because the adaptations now also include wider Marvel, whitch usually (thanks to the MCU) is at the modern day stage with legacy characters and new age teen heroes, meaning that Peter is taking up Miles' spot and you can really tell when they put him next to someone like Kamala Khan or Sam Alexander who are Miles' pals. Tho Peter taking Miles' stuff is just a modern issue overall, just look at MCU whitch just stole and re-skinned Miles' personality, characters, story-beats, even the costume to an extent and then made it worse.

This quest was short and sweet; I enjoyed it. I was kind of afraid they were going to pull another fetch quest that jebaits you into an assassination attempt, so this was really nice.

With all the survivors' talk of how Pilgrims 'are', as well as Aiden's general attitude towards the shitheads he encounters, you can sometimes forget that first and foremost, you are playing a brother.

My favorite quests are the ones where Aiden just shows how playful he can be, contrasting his own memories of himself as a child, ever the worrywart while his sister wanted to play with him. You start to wonder how much his memories of Mia affected his personality, since that was all he could hold on to in her absence.
