Tony Hawk’s Sapphic Nightmare is very funny, I would photoshop something if I could right now. Thank you.

Nick Andros - Proposal
Word Count: 1423
*Nick POV*
As soon as I found what I was looking for, I left the deserted store. I was surprised that not everything had been looted from the store but was glad not everything was; this was something that was very important to me, so to find what I needed was really good.
6 months after the death of the Dark Man, things had gotten so much better. Boulder had progressed to something so much better than I had expected to see, especially after the blast Harold and Nadine had set off nearly killed me. Since then, we had managed to establish something that could pass as society. Frannie had her baby, Stu and Tom came back from the west, and eventually Frannie and Stu tied the knot. Lots of couples had been doing that lately; even though most couples had gotten together after Captain Trips came around, which was just under a year ago, most were already tying the knot. I guessed people just felt even closer with all the traumatic things they had been through together. I was certainly not immune to that; (Y/N) and I had gotten together only a few weeks after Captain Trips, and here I was, planning on asking her to marry me. I was a bit nervous to ask her, but I was pretty confident that she would say yes. First, though, I wanted to talk to Stu. He had been married before Captain Trips, and obviously had proposed to Frannie fairly recently, so he would have some advice on how to go about it. So, after I picked out the ring, I went to give him a visit.
Stu and Fran were relaxing on the porch with their son, Peter, when I got there.
“Nick!” Fran said with excitement, and I signed Hi back. “Nice of you to stop by. What brings you here?” Neither one of them knew sign language, so I had to write out what I wanted to say on a small pad of paper.
I’m here to ask for advice. I wrote.
“Oh, advice. That means you’re gonna tell us something interesting,” Fran said.
“What do you need help on?” Stu asked. I took the ring I had gotten out of my pocket to show them, and Frannie gasped.
“You’re proposing!” She said. “Wow, Nick, that’s amazing!”
Trying to find the right way to ask her. Figured you would have some advice, Stu. I said.
“Well… I decided to keep it simple when I proposed to Fran. I mean, it felt right to make it simple,” Stu said.
“It felt nice to have a simple one, too,” Fran added. “I mean, for Stu and I, the most important thing in our relationship since we met has just been… well, just loving each other. Extravagance was never something that was big for us.”
So, simple. I said.
“I think that’s your best bet. It really depends on the person your proposing to, but I think (Y/N) would appreciate the simplicity,” Stu said, and I nodded. He was right; simplicity would be the best route.
Thanks for the help. Feel a lot better.
“Not a problem,” Stu said. “I’m really glad for you, Nick. This is a big thing.”
“Let us know when you do it, I wanna hear everything!” Fran said, and I nodded. After saying goodbyes, I went on my way. Talking to the two of them made me feel a bit more confident about the whole thing. I really thought the proposal would go well.
*(Y/N) pov*
Nick and I slowly walked through the park, enjoying the pretty sunset. It was one of the first days in May that actually turned out really nice, without any rain. After a long day of working, you were happy to do something relaxing.
Such a nice night out. I eventually signed, and Nick nodded. He seemed a bit nervous, and more fidgety than usual, but maybe the day had just stressed him out. Suddenly, he turned to me. Everything ok? I asked.
Yeah. Everything is fine. I just have something I have to talk to you about. He brought me over to a nice spot where we had once had a picnic with Fran and Stu. Just like everyone else, I’ve been thinking about the future of… well, everything in Boulder. We’ve gone through so much, and we still have a lot we’re going to go through. But I’ve also been thinking about us. All we’ve been through since we met. It feels like we’ve bonded more than anyone in any normal world would. I had a feeling I knew where this was going, and I felt my heartbeat pick up. This was actually happening. (Y/N), I love you so much. You’ve helped me and saved me in so many ways, and just overall accepted me, despite everything being against me. I mean, I was a homeless deaf guy before this, and somehow you still love me, and I am ETERNALLY grateful for that. Now, I don’t want to seem like I’m jumping on the bandwagon with doing this, but it’s something that just feels right in the moment… He reached into his pocket, pulled out a ring, and got on one knee. Will you marry me? He asked.
For a moment, I was at a loss for words. Never in my life did I think I would be standing here, in a post-apocalyptic world, being proposed to by the man I loved that I had known for less than a year. But here I was, and I couldn’t be happier. Finally, I was able to sign just one word; yes. Nick smiled, stood up, and hugged me tightly. I could feel the tears forming in my eyes, but they were happy tears. Nick was truly the most important person in my life at this point. Since the day I had met him, he had been such an important part of my life, in surviving everything that had happened and in loving him.
Nick pulled away and lifted up my hand to put the ring on it. It was a simple ring, but I was totally fine with that. It was a beautiful ring. It was weird to see it on my hand; I was actually ENGAGED.
The ring is beautiful, I said. I love it.
I had a feeling you would, Nick replied. I’ve been wanting to ask you to marry me for what feels like forever. I wanted to wait for what felt like the right time, and that just felt like now.
Well, you got it perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. I kissed him quickly. I love you, Nick. So, so, so much. I always will. Nick kissed me again, and I practically melted. This was such a great moment, and the greatest moment since my world had come crashing down nearly a year ago. I already couldn’t wait for Nick and I to actually get married.
I quickly went to answer the door as soon as I heard the knock. Frannie was coming over, as she wanted to know about the proposal. Not many people knew that Nick had proposed yet, but Fran had been the first person I had told, as she was my best friend at this point.
As soon as I answered the door, Frannie pulled me into a tight hug. “Congratulations! I’m so excited that Nick finally proposed!”
“I am, too. It honestly came out of nowhere, but I’m happy he finally did it.” I showed her the ring. “Isn’t it nice?”
“It really is,” Frannie replied. “I know it’s early, but any idea how you want the wedding to be?”
“Nothing big, to be honest. Both Nick and I want it to be pretty simple,” I replied. “I’m just excited that I’m actually getting married.”
“It’s a great feeling.” The two of us talked for a while longer, as we hadn’t spent much time together lately. When she left, it was mid-afternoon, and not long after, Nick got home from hanging out with Stu for a while.
Did you have a good time with Stu? I asked, and Nick nodded.
How about you with Fran?
We had a nice time. It was good to visit for a while. I went over and kissed his cheek. But I’m glad you’re back home, fiancé.
And I’m glad to be home, fiancée. It felt nice to hear him say that. It also felt nice to call him my fiancé. I was engaged, for real, and I couldn’t be happier.
