i couldnt sleep last night because i was passionately ranting to myself about how the changes in the themes, messages, and general structure of the Disney Princess movies reflect the changes in generational perspectives and the socioeconomic factors of our society 🤦‍♀️

#its not JUST about feminism okay #its about how the makers and marketers and audience of the classic and renaissance movies were willing to believe that things would be okay #so all you had to do was wait and try to do good where you are #so we got stories where the protagonists didnt necessarily set out to save themselves or others #but modern makers and marketers and audiences cant believe that things are going to be okay if we dont do anything about it #so we get stories about Being Right and The Real Solution Was You #and neither story is bad!!!#we need both kinds of stories!!!#just like we need princesses who got married and princesses who didnt and princesses who saved themselves and princesses who didnt #i just. ksjdfnhjkahfiauwesjcnfwe.#maybe this is a ''ive connected the dots''you didnt connect shit''ive connected them'' moment but. it makes sense to me.#disney
