HISTORY.

at a young age, maya decided to run away from home due to her parents constantly fighting. she was tired of hearing the angry yells of her parents, she desperately wanted a family that actually liked being around each other. she was driven to a girl's singing, crawling through a window to meet riley matthews. she was a seemingly perfect and happy little girl, a girl who would soon change her life for the better.

riley became extremely important to her, never leaving her side despite their ever-growing differences. as their friendship grew, maya clung on to the one constant in her life. her father walked out on her when she was five, and her mom distanced herself and focused on putting a roof over their heads than being there when maya needed her the most. riley became maya's rock, and she wouldn't replace that for anything.

maya was constantly in trouble growing up. she wasn't the best influence, influencing riley to sneak out on to the subway, sneaking out of detention, to more and more trouble and chaos. she needed someone like riley matthews to balance her out, to spread her good onto her conscience. she needed the father figure that cory matthews was to her for so long.

maya always believed that it was her mother that drew men away, people that could be her father. it wasn’t until her fourteenth birthday that her view changed. shawn hunter went to katy’s work, trying to get her to remember maya’s birthday. after all, katy hadn’t forgotten her birthday. she needed to work the extra shifts in order to afford a heart shaped locket with a family photo hidden inside. shawn revealed to maya that her mom hadn’t drove off her father. her father left on his own, left the both of them. maya became appreciative of her mother, finally seeing her as one of them.

there was one lesson of cory's that stuck with her. in the seventh grade, cory assigned them to put down their phones, and do their research in books. so, maya, riley, lucas and farkle all went to the public library. maya read a chapter out of a book called "disconnecting to connect" — unplugging yourself from technology makes for better human interaction. it wasn't until they put down their phones and looked into each other's eyes that they really connected. maya figured something out of herself during this lesson: she was really good at art. at the time, she would deny that she connected with her friends. she learned that she could have a deeper connection with someone by sitting down and talking.

shawn hunter was cory's lifelong best friend. she grew up hearing stories about him, cory had been so fond of him. it wasn't until they actually met that maya realized how special he actually was. they bonded over their dysfunctional childhoods, how much they were alike. maya grew attached to shawn, wanting him to be her father. this was the first time she allowed herself to have hope. soon, shawn fell in love with her mother, katy, and married her.

IVYWOOD.

maya hart thrives in situations where she could go in blindly. so, when she woke up in a motel in a town she had never been in before, she picked up her feet and confidently took a step forward. she got herself an apartment, and has been selling her artwork and taking commissions. she is always found with a sketchbook in her arm, a look of wonder on her features. she knew her friends would be proud of her for doing something with her talents.

she believes that having hope is for suckers. she doesn’t want to feel hope. she doesn’t want to bring more things into her life that could hurt her and become broken. because of this, she doesn’t necessarily talk about her emotions and how she feels. she would rather turn it down and change the subject rather than facing what she fears the most: hope.

maya found it frustrating when people were saying she was becoming riley. she always viewed it as becoming a better self, not becoming someone she wasn't. she didn't always want to be the sad, hopeless girl that she always was. she still feels like it wasn't fair for her to be cast as that.

she can play the guitar and sing. this talent rains down from her great grandmother: may clutterbucket. may gave up her dreams in 1961, but maya seems to exhibit those talents.

tommy is joel’s younger brother. the two of them grew up in texas, and he looked up to his older brother. he earned his love of music from joel, and he wanted to go to college and play football. of course, that never happened.

he remembers the beginning of the outbreak very clearly, and having to flee, driving past people screaming and running for their lives. it was terrifying. 

tommy was with joel when he lost sarah, and for months after watched his older brother become someone he barely knew. he finally had enough, tired of the violence and hurt that joel caused on their way to solace on the east coast. once there, his head was filled with hopeful visions of a peaceful and safe future, and tommy ended up leaving his brother behind to join the fireflies.

but after years of working with them, tommy worried that the fireflies weren’t actually representing something he wanted to be a part of either. he feels lost, unsure of what to do. and then one day wakes up in a strange motel, nestled in the strange town of ivywood.

SO tommy doesn’t remember anything after his few years with the fireflies. he doesn’t know how he ended up here, how he’s years into the past -- but he’s determined to find out. 

other than being forced here against his will and now being stuck here, tommy doesn’t mind ivywood. it’s certainly better than the apocalyptic time he came from. for all he knows, they’re stuck in there for their protection. either way, he’s kind of made a life for himself here. gets jobs working on people’s houses for them and just lives his life.

I’m sure you’ve seen daisy mcdaniels around ivywood. she is thirty six years old and are a baker.  i’ve heard a rumor that she is a huge fan of NCIS, harry potter & sailor moon and have a tendency to be warm & quick witted and stubborn & impulsive. 

growing up daisy was on her own, her father left before she was even born and her mother worked doubles at the local hospital as a nurse. she learned quickly how to take care of herself, she grew to like it even but that was until one own mcdaniels walked into her life. he lived in the trailer next door with his sister and even from a young age she had a crush on him. though she never said anything and the two became best friends, she had her little family with the mcdaniel kids. 

In highschool she found a passion for cooking and baking, as soon as she could she got a job to save up for cullinary school to get out of her small town. she went to school in chicago but ended up moving back to her hometown when she graduated to open her own bakery. 

owen and her had lost touch a long time ago but one day owen came back into her life and they quickly got married. it may have seemed fast to some but daisy was smitten with owen for as long as she could remember, she had always been a sucker for love. that was until one day her perfect husband decided that this wasn’t the life he wanted and left her. she was devastated and heartbroken, she still is in love with him now but she wanted him to be happy even without her.

pat is actually one of my only real, genuine ivywood natives. go figure. the guy was born and raised here, the youngest of three, and he’s always very much been the baby of the family. he’s playful, silly, loves a good joke, and absolutely fears growing up in any sort of fashion. he always loved music but preferred the technical aspects, which is how he ended up studying and pursuing a career in sound engineering.

he loves working with the band and travelling around, and he’s a ridiculously huge flirt (with everyone) even though he doesn’t really mean anything by it? like, you can tell if he’s trying to pursue you or if he’s just being a muppet for dramatic effect. he also has a deathly fear of clowns so have fun with that one.

prince robert was the eldest child and only son of king rowan and queen beatrice. while he had a good relationship with his mother, who was always kind and sympathetic toward him, his relationship with his father was much more strained, as the king put a lot of pressure on robert to marry and become king.

unfortunately, robert had no desire to get married to just anyone. he wanted to marry for love, and none of the princesses that were offered to him caught his eye. he started to wonder if he’d ever find the woman he was looking for.

that was, until he saw a mysterious peasant girl sitting on a statue of his grandfather, and was immediately taken by her. he made it his mission to find her and get to know her. this girl was ella, an aspiring dressmaker.

he managed to convince ella to come to the ball that his family was throwing, which he only asked for so he could get to know her better in the first place, and the two of them fell in love basically at first sight.

the problem was, ella didn’t want to tie herself down and become queen, and robert feared that the two of them could never be together. that was, until he made the decision to give up his throne and pass the title of queen down to his sister, gwen, so he and ella could travel together while she sold her dresses. yay happy ending!

meet emmeline

emmeline hails from Oregon, she grew up in Ashland, Oregon and loved it there. Her parents were tech crew in the Shakespeare festival so she grew up around artists and tourist and loved it. 

from a young age emmeline fell in love with romance. she aggressively watched fairytales and read stories about romance, she just wanted that feeling. 

and yet despite that she has always had the worst luck with boys. 

she was pretty and intelligent, she spoke her mind and knew her heart but it didn’t matter emme never got her fairytale moments. 

at first it didn’t matter. she found cooking and photography and combined the two to find a passion that became more then just a hobby. 

she was lucky, because of her parents she was able to shadow a photographer during the shows and they taught her everything about photography and so for awhile that kept her busy.

until she had her first boyfriend. they were in middle school and she thought it was the start of sweetheart romance. but it only lasted two months and when it was over the boy spread rumors about her. emmeline knew her own truth though and despite the whispers about her she held her head high. 

her world came crashing down a year late when her parents said they were getting a divorce and they were leaving oregon entirely. her mother had been cheating and emmeline hated her for that so she went to live with her father. 

they moved to ohio and while it was never going to be as pretty as oregon it was nice in ivywood. 

she settled into school and once again settled into her romantic dreams, this was a fresh start for her. 

until it wasn’t. 

their was kyle-he was not it, their was jeremiah-broke up with her, samuel-ghosted her on prom, daniel-ghosted her on homecoming, and jullian-she broke up with him. 

and when her father passed away she refused to go back to her mother so she figured out how to make it on her own. she finished school and found a job as an administrative assistant and waitresses just to keep herself afloat. 

while she was in school she kept her romance to a minimum and there were dates until last year when she met evan jackson. 

The Jacksons were well known and evan jackson was the handsomest in her opinion and when she saw him at one of his shows she was smitten.

she attended a few more until she got up the nerve to talk to him and she fell head over heels. He was good looking and sweet and talented, emme thought she found her romance

but of course her luck ended. she wasn’t sure what was worst, finding out evan was cheating on her, or seeing how much happier he looked when he was with her. he never looked at her that way. 

so she broke up with him and even still despite her broken heart wished him well. 

she cried about it for a little bit and then wiped her tears and picked herself up again. 

she never let it get her down. she believes she deserves the best and she won’t compromise that just to feel loved. 

so instead she watches rom-coms and period dramas. she reads romance novels in the park and dresses up for herself. she reserves dinner for one and takes herself to the movies. she knows her happy ending is out there and she won’t give up on that.

it also didn’t help that her dad decided to sell his business in order to pay for her tuition, which made her feel incredibly guilty.  she didn’t want him to give up his dream for something she didn’t even know if she wanted

eventually, she decided to use her education to help kids like her find their way.  she didn’t want anyone to give up on their dreams because of where they’re from.  right now she works as an activist, but eventually wants to become an immigration lawyer

allison has a difficult time remembering most of her life in beacon hills. and that’s just because after she died and appeared in ivywood, most of her old memories were replaced with the ones the town gave her. so, in all honesty, she doesn’t remember her death or dying whatsoever. she thinks her family just had to move again and ivywood was the next place they were to go to. 

she remembers lydia very well, she was one of the people she got super close with in beacon hills and she remembers scott, obviously. she has a hard time remembering the supernatural aspects of beacon hills. like she doesnt remember scott is a werewolf or that she’s a hunter or anything like that. 

she’s in college! she’s majoring in business. she wants to own her archery/indoor shooting range to teach everyone the skills she knows.

Biography

Grantaire was born in Paris in the early 1800s.

He was a part of Les Amis de l’ABC, colloquially called the Barricade Boys or Les Amis. Les Amis were a group of (mostly) university students who tried to overthrow King Louis-Philippe during the June Rebellion.

Despite this, Grantaire himself was not much of a revolutionary. He was a notorious drunk and cynic who believed that Les Amis wouldn’t change the world, and he was well aware that an attempted revolution would lead to their deaths.

His closest friends from Les Amis were Joly and Bossuet, though he generally got along with everyone...except for Enjolras. Enjolras, the leader of Les Amis, radiated an optimism for the future that Grantaire both loved and could never believe in. Grantaire could watch that man go off for hours, but not without the urge to throw in some snide remarks. Things got especially bad between the two during the rebellion.

In the end, Grantaire redeemed himself by dying alongside Enjolras, holding onto his hand. The problem is that Grantaire doesn’t remember this part; there’s a big blank spot in his memory after passing out in a nearby tavern.

Grantaire’s memories of his old life are faint and fractured, like trying to remember a drinking binge while still hungover the morning after. Granted, Grantaire was drunk for most of his important life events.

He thinks that his arrival in Ivywood is some kind of second chance at being a better person, granted to him by fate, and he is going to squander it just like he did in the 1800s.

joshua "j" cody is the son of julia cody, the grandson of janine "smurf" cody, the nephe of andrew "pope", craig, and deran cody. his father is both his uncle, baz blackwell, who smurf brought him in when he was twelve.

j's mother is pope's twin sister. his mom wasn't close to most of her family. an exception seems to be with pope, however, to whom she was kind and attentive toward in childhood.

after julia was thrown out of the cody house, she didn't keep in close contact with them. she was pregnant when they kicked her out, and she only took j to visit them when he was incredibly young. soon, she stopped all contact altogether. baz did not acknowledge j as his son.

j is taken in by the family when julia dies of an overdose, being suddenly surrounded by people: pope, craig, deran, and baz. for the first time in his life, j finds himself navigating through a new world of material abundance and aggression. he learns to survive on top of finding his moral compass. he tries to fit in with his uncles' complicated and crazy lifestyle by accommodating to their will many times.

throughout the year, j continues to get sucked into the cody's ways and gets more involved in what they do. when smurf is arrested for a crime she did not commit, she puts j in charge.

long story short, j killed his grandma. despite it, however, he is shocked by what he did.

in ivywood, josh feels like he was either kidnapped or drugged or something that led him to the town’s motel. so far, he has been here for a few months now. as he figures that no one is searching for him, he has decided to get into college and try and live a somewhat normal life than what he is accustomed to.

deran cody is the baby and momma’s boy out of his brothers. he is roughly twenty-five (at least in season 1). initially, he hid his sexuality from his family but finally came out to his grandma when he opened up his own bar! he is pretty much tired of the business, but still does jobs.

craig cody is the WRECK. he is a bit older than deran (about five years). he has a strong drug problem and isn’t much reliable or responsible. he drinks and parties all of the time. he’s pretty much muscle. not a thought behind his eyes.

a possible ship? he has the tendency to go towards girls who have an edgy side or a dangerous type relationship (like he literally had a relationship with his teacher and then turned her into the cops because she was trying to get intel on his family). but i would also love a softer ship for him?? since he’s not around so much ... “business” and shit.

luna age-wise is taken a few years after the battle of hogwarts. she however has no memory of ever getting married to rolf scamander nor of their children lorcan & lysander. in fact, hogwarts in her mind wasn’t even a school for witchcraft and wizardry but simply a boarding school that she attended ( we love some ?? angst bless ). luna remembers her friends, but nothing yet of the magic or troubles they all faced having fought with voldemort & his supporters. she has nightmares from time to time, & strange ( more so than usual for luna at least, bless their heart ) things tend to happen during heightened emotions which hint at her magic abilities, but she has yet to remember any of that part of her life.

luna’s not one to pretend to be anyone but themselves, even if most don’t quite understand. luna’s intelligent, a non-conformist, & someone who’s quite perceptive, noticing many things that others may not. she’s always in her own little world, & if she finds the topic of conversation boring luna’s been known to drift off into own thoughts. her father is one of the most important people, & if anyone has anything negative to say her usual quirky demeanor is quickly replaced with anger ( this in turn, also applies to those they deem close ). despite the harsh judgements of others, luna’s noncritical of others. luna may have a hard time making friends but those she has, she’d do anything for. <3

yelena was born in the soviet union, but at the age of three she was assigned the role of younger sister to natasha romanoff and child of alexei shostakov and melina vostokoff in an undercover mission in ohio. this was her life until she was six, and because she was so young when it started, she didn’t know much more than their suburban life.

that was, until the mission ended and she and natasha were shipped back to the red room. she was trained as an assassin for her entire life, eventually becoming a black widow like her “sister.”

basically, yelena appeared in ivywood about two years ago, and while she was freaked out at first, she’s grown used to it. she’s finally back in ohio, where she spent arguably the best years of her life, and she’s laying low and living a normal life. she’s happy that she finally gets to make her own choices.
