Debriefing Report Meeting
Today's meeting concluded our internship journey and focused on mutual feedback and questions. I was surprised by how the film festival, functioning as an advertisement, successfully attracted people to the suburb and community. George also provided valuable advice on furthering our development as photographers.
Following the conclusion of the IWFF, I encountered many intriguing individuals and gained exposure to new opportunities, including other festivals. Notably, I had the chance to participate in the SydFest Independent Film Festival. I asked several questions about pre-planning for a film festival and gained substantial knowledge in the process.
Overall, I am deeply grateful for this internship opportunity. It imparted valuable knowledge from both the film and photography industries and led to several new opportunities.

INNER WEST FILM FESTIVAL DAY5
4/21
As I reflect on the culmination of my internship at IWFF, the closing ceremony on April 21st stands out as a memorable finale to an enriching experience. As the curtain drew to a close on the film festival, I found myself immersed in a whirlwind of activity, racing between various crews to finalize my own Final Project.
The schedule for the day was meticulously outlined, with two comprehensive viewings scheduled, encompassing all the films and short films showcased throughout the festival. Assigned to the initial three-hour block, my responsibilities encompassed capturing pre-opening media board shots and post-entrance speech snapshots. Despite the festival's denouement, the theater buzzed with anticipation as attendees flocked to catch the final screenings. Though not as grandiose as the opening days, the turnout was substantial enough to keep me occupied for the better part of 15 minutes.
Throughout the proceedings, I made earnest attempts to connect with directors and producers in attendance, but the frenetic pace afforded little opportunity for meaningful conversation. However, as the audience settled into the theater, I managed to steal a moment to join them in watching the films, with DogMan leaving an indelible mark on my cinematic sensibilities.
Following the screening, organizers took to the stage, offering heartfelt reflections on the ten-day extravaganza. Their informal addresses touched upon the festival's exponential growth since its inception a year prior, underscoring the invaluable support garnered from the INNER WEST community and burgeoning young artists. The ensuing dialogue between organizers and directorial guests fostered a sense of camaraderie, further enhancing the festival's collaborative spirit.
As the festivities wound down, I emerged from the screening room to find my colleague Nicole already immersed in intensive shooting. Stepping in to lend a hand with venue lighting adjustments, I seized the opportunity to extend warm greetings to visiting directors. With on-site arrangements confirmed with Greg, I delegated remaining tasks, focusing on the prompt delivery of captured photographs.

IWFF Has Emerged as Federation for Women- Sandeep Marwah
Tumblr media
New Delhi: “Not very long ago we started IWFF-International Women’s Film Forum to support the women in media and entertainment Industry. We found that they are very happy and satisfied and there is lot of job satisfaction to these women. We extended the boundaries to women from all strata of life. Today in a span of ten years IWFF has started working like a federation of Working women,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President Marwah Studios and Chair for IWFF while talking to the large number of women at a fashion show -Ms & Mrs Teej Queen of India (Glit & Glamour in The City) organized by Jaiashri Jain at Hotel Radisson Blu.
“Time has come when Indian women must learn the meaning of Atamnirbhar. You must dream big, think big and plan higher platforms for yourself. It has been proved that if you plan big you bound to be on a higher stage. God helps those who help themselves. Be honest to your profession, work hard. We need women to be on the equal status as men in India,” added Dr Marwah motivating the audience of the show.
Jaishri presented the memento to Dr. Marwah as a token of respect and thanked him for his gracious presence. Later Dr. Marwah presented awards to some prominent women for their contribution to society.

Final Week :3
IWFF Diary Day 3 [0416]
Film Trivia
Marrickville Distreict Hardcurt Tennis Club
Today's activity is a movie trivia event, from which I mainly learned two aspects of knowledge. First, by sneaking a peek at the Answer sheet, I got a perfect TO WATCH LIST. This part of the trivia is divided into movies that took place in the Inner west area, Australian movies, and Canadian movies. I think this is a very good plan to learn about "national film culture" through movies.
Tumblr media
Secondly, through communication with the organizers, I learned a lot about how film festivals are organized (more about the financial side and how film festivals operate). The main income of film festivals is sponsorships, advertising and ticket sales, and a part is film distribution and copyright sales, but this is not included in IWFF. The promotion methods of advertisements and sponsors mainly reflect in small activities, such as the previous Photo Exhibition and this venue, and the wine provided in the venue are all sponsored.
Tumblr media
In fact, in large film festivals, there will be an Awards section. There is no Award section in IWFF, which is replaced by Short Movie Selection. Part of the reason for this is to avoid unnecessary competition, because the essence of IWFF is to promote regional and film culture. There is also a small part of the reason is the Funding Problem. In the Awards section, as a staff member, there will be many opportunities to contact and watch movies, and also learn how to assess the quality of movies. I find this very exciting. If I have the chance, I will definitely try this opportunity in the future.

Tumblr media
Today's internship date happens to be National Canadian Film Day. Before today's movie started, Greg mentioned an idea that I found very interesting. Since Canada has an International Film Day, why doesn't Australia have one? So, he will hold a meeting with the staff of the Canadian Council tomorrow to discuss related ideas. The Canadian International Film Day was first held in 2014, initiated by the Canadian Film Association. The event aims to promote the development of Canadian cinema, promote Canadian film culture, and celebrate the diversity and creativity of Canadian cinema.

Fight To Live
Short Film Selection 2
Tumblr media
I take back my previous words, Benson told me that the Short Film Selection itself is an Award. Today is the busiest day. Today is the big screen Sydney premiere of Fight to Live, the actors and directors are all here. Many fans and industry workers came to celebrate, it was a very grand scene.
Tumblr media
There are also many student works in the Short Film Selection, and I also saw MMI's works in it.
Overall WRAPS
During this internship, I gained insight into the link between local film festivals and tourism promotion through practical experience and continuous research. I learned about the operations of film festivals and their significance for film enthusiasts and professionals. Furthermore, I understood the benefits these festivals offer for both parties. Most importantly, the internship allowed me to network with industry professionals and gather information on opportunities for participating in more film festivals.
Tumblr media
In the first week, I aimed to define my future direction within the internship. Now, I find the idea of being a "movie observer" quite appealing, perhaps as a behind-the-scenes photographer or festival participant. These experiences can enrich my knowledge and skills in "film production". With a sufficient knowledge base, every task becomes manageable.
Tumblr media
To conclude, I intend to delve deeper into the relationship between local film festivals and local cultural promotion. Having studied the operations of Biennales this semester, I notice similarities between these and local film festivals. This point of intersection intrigues me and I will present further research findings in my final report.

INNER WEST FILM FESTIVAL DAY4
4/15 It has been three days since my previous trip to IWFF. During these three days, I had to spend a lot of time beautifying, editing, screening and editing videos and photos. After systematically using lightroom and davinci to pre-process all available photos, I began to upload them one by one to the online network disk shared by the staff. Due to the slowness of my home network, I had to spend a lot of time in front of my computer with it turned on to make sure the uploaded files weren't paused or lost. Unfortunately, bad weather conditions also occurred repeatedly during these three days. Although it was not a complete restart, it also affected the uploading progress of the material to a certain extent (one day, the Internet was completely disconnected for 8 hours. ) In short, before continuing to discuss my processing of the completed shooting materials, let me first record the content of the internship on April 15th. That day, my shift was scheduled at Dendy Cinemas Newtown. The time listed for me in the call sheet I received was 6pm. After the experience of the previous two days, I arrived at the scene at about 5:45. The situation at the scene completely exceeded my expectations. At first glance, the entrance to the cinema was surrounded by crowds and queues. The grand occasion was even higher than the busiest time of the previous day. Just when I thought I was too late and was about to apologize and start shooting as soon as possible, I saw the staff standing relaxedly near the main entrance, showing no signs of being busy at all. This bothers me greatly. Anyway, I packed up my equipment and belongings as quickly as possible, and came forward with my camera in hand to ask about the specific situation. The result is completely out of control. The staff told me that the IWFF media board was not sent, and there were no other organizers on site. All we had was two pillars, a table and some brochures. All the people present were there to take part in a photo session with another actor. It took me a moment to understand what was going on. I cautiously asked what I should do. The staff member helplessly replied that he didn't know, and half-jokingly said to me, "Try taking pictures of other people to participate in our activities?" ’ I also know that this is not realistic, and the most important thing is that it is inappropriate, but anyway I made some small attempts, such as putting the queue of people and the IWFF pillars into the same picture, and placing the brochure in a specific way. Display panels that shape and blur the crowds and other activities behind. Or trying to capture a passerby who comes to ask about our brochure. But the good times did not last long. In just half an hour, the people queuing up at the scene had gradually entered the hall where they were, which meant that the entrance area had become very deserted. As the staff evacuated, I had no choice but to end the day's work.
