I'd let the world burn,
Let the world burn for you.
This is how it always had to end,
If I can't have you then no one can.
I'd let it burn,
I'd let the world burn.
Just to hear you calling out my name,
Watching it all go down in flames.

Other Social Medias
I need to stop neglecting my other social media platforms 😅
Perhaps in this week I'll copy + paste some of my posts from here (Tumblr) to my Wordpress blog so that platform has some type of presence, and because my more recent posts have more or less been leaning on the tutorial/technique teaching side of things (they've been showing experimental things).
It's just sooo easy to post here on Tumblr 🙃
Unrelated...
So far in the history of this blog, I've mentioned that I've worked at a day spa and an arts & crafts store. Well, at that arts & crafts store, I did a number of things. I worked in floral and made arrangements, I worked in freight and put items out on the floor (but for a very specific area only, which I'll get to), and I worked as a Certified Beading Instructor (it was my job to put all beading supplies and related items from freight onto the floor). I had to know each item's exact location and do it within a very specific time frame.
If anyone had a question regarding beading, jewelry, and even art (like acrylic/watercolor/gouache/misc), I was the "specialist" and people at work instantly sent them my way. It was my job to already know. If I said anything like "google it", that was a hard no- insulting, and I could easily get written up or a strike against me for that, eventually losing my job.
It was also my job to schedule classes and teach people how to make full pieces of jewelry from start to end while teaching them simple techniques along the way.
The reason I bring this up now is kind of a cross between "I'm seeing misinformation being spread", "I'm seeing people who don't know better", "I'm seeing people nitpick the tiniest details", and "I'm seeing people troll other people intentionally". It's kind of getting on my nerves. More so that last one.
You don't know what you don't know. That's fine, I get it. But to troll people because you can, is just messed up.
I grew up with "treat people the way you wish to be treated". And along the way I learned "don't judge a book by its cover".
It wasn't my intention to go off on a lecture but maybe when someone is trying to be helpful with the correct information, don't combat it with misinformation? Especially when it'll cost someone hard earned currency in this awful economy and their wavering confidence.

Here's a photo of some really old things I made way back when 😅 (this is just a fraction)
I used to wear these to work or when I went out. As you can see, I don't wear them anymore, lol. They're in little baggies, stuffed away in a box. I do miss some of them; the more simpler ones.
This might be why I developed a "simple and clean" aesthetics mentality. The bigger more chunky ones I've become totally turned off to. They look gaudy to me now. While the simpler, smaller ones still look okay 🤷🏻♀️

I'm making small baby steps worth of progress (I feel like I've said this multiple times before).
I'll have everything completely organized as the phrase goes; "a place for everything, and everything in its place" and I'm slowly getting all the little doo-dads I need. Think I'm just missing shipping boxes/containers? I've seen some people go about this two totally opposing ways and with my living conditions/space being the way it is, I'm not entirely sure how I should go about it, lol. But, I'll figure it out 🫠
If you're curious, one end of the spectrum is people buy hecka postal boxes and hoard them like they have a mini UPS station in their house. The other end of the spectrum is they go down to their post office and get however many boxes they need per "run" (if they have one order or seven, they get that many boxes) and then fill them accordingly- so they never have more than they need (or maybe one extra incase of an accident/error). But you get the idea.
I also need some medium sized jewelry boxes or bubble wrap or something to protect my medium sized resin creations...? What do I even describe these as? lol 🤔🙃. I have to figure that out too for when I go to list these (for tag purposes). But I bought a chessboard mold, so something to ship & wrap that (if that's even possible? I might only be able to sell these at craft tables at faires). I got a domino mold. I have octopus molds (of course, it's me we're talking about). Among so many other things.
I don't want my creations breaking or getting damaged during shipment but I also don't want to add a massive amount of plastic & shipment waste to our planet either just trying to protect my creations and I think this is where I get caught up. I have "Fragile" stickers but I don't trust delivery people. I see how they place packages on my front doorstep with our security cameras.
Bubble wrap is one of those ehhhh~ products. It protects but it's also not great on the planet. Same with bubble mailers. And I've already bought so many of those before the consequences crossed my mind a few years back.
I know styrofoam is the absolute worst of the worst. Tissue paper isn't bad either and I have some of that. I'll likely do a mixed media approach. I'm already shopping for "Shredded Paper" and this other alternative I found called "Honeycomb Packing Paper Wrap" because paper > plastic. But I do have to use up the previous bubble wrap and other things I've already bought way in the past 🫠😅🙃
But anyways this isn't what my post was supposed to be about today 😅 Typical me running off on a tangent. This is just a near and dear thing for me because I love our planet and its well being. I don't think I talk about it here on my Jade.Blog but I've swapped away from plastic water bottle usage to glass bottle drinks that are reusable with loose leaf tea, and to Cirkul that has recyclable cartridges to better do my part with the planet and plastic crises. I've done other things too, obviously because that's not enough. But also me alone doing this much, is not enough. I hope to spread awareness with my resin work. That's the hope and goal anyways.
I also use anything I could that's re-usable in my creation process. I do NOT use plastic or paper cups. That is probably my biggest pet peeve when I watch people work with resin on YouTube or wherever. They always pull out one-time use cups; plastic or paper. Drives me up the wall. I do not use those. I will not use those. I will never use those. I refuse to use those. Just to make that clear.
I use silicone, reusable tools. Obviously my molds are silicone and reusable too. I also use silicone mats, not paper mats or parchment paper or whatever else. It is reusable, it doesn't get thrown out after each use. And no one-time use lollipop sticks or toothpicks. My silicone tools are perfectly good enough for that.
There are a couple of things that I cannot get away with reusing and they are: my Black Nitrile Gloves, Baby Wipes (for cleaning my silicone tools, mat, cups, molds, and other silicone things I've missed), and Paper Towels (I don't use these as often as one might think but occasionally I'll need one or two while working).
But once again, I ran off on a tangent and this wasn't what my post today was intended for 🙃
If and when I ever get my shop up and running, I'll be reiterating how all my resin creations are created with reusable things and not one-time use items. I want to stand on an Eco-Friendly foundation or platform (as hard as that is with resin because the resin industry has built up this reputation with using so much throwaway garbage to create items). Let's see if we can change that.
NOW to the original intended purpose of why I hit "Create" post today 😅😋
I had an AH! moment about last week, and remembered I have about $100 USD worth of acrylic paints stored away in my garage. I kept telling myself to go "check" on them (as in make sure they're still a liquid and not a dried chunky mess), to see if I can still use them.
Life being life, things keep coming up and I keep getting distracted and I forget. Yada yada, I finally get to it. ⤵️

This is about 20 minutes in. I had soooo much. I want to note that all of these acrylic paints are about 8-9 years old, lol. I'm one of those people who selectively hoards things. I'm minimalistic in nature but when it comes to hobby items (or books), I keep stuff.

After about 2 hours, I was done sorting through it. Now when I say "sorted through it", I mean... I shook every single one of these against my palm until my palm was swelling in pain, darn near numb, hot & red, lol. I was also doing that shaking a martini shimmy several times cause it felt like some of the more shimmery paints didn't want to move despite still being very much hydrated 🫠

By the end of everything, I only eliminated 7 of the bottles. They either completely separated and the separated part hardened from the super liquified part (this is where I had to stick that pink stick inside the bottle to figure that out - it was the metallic & glitter ones that did this). Or, the more shimmery ones turned into a type of rubber.
I opened most of them up and looked inside them, yes. Not all though- I wasn't that meticulous 😆
I'm bringing this here because I wanted to note, like in a past post, to keep your art supplies! You never know how long they'll last and when you'll need them next.
I had these for acrylic painting on canvas back when I worked at an Arts n Crafts store (I know I've worked at several places lol, this is why I know a bit of everything 😉). I still have a TON of those canvases + these paints. I never would have thought in a million years that somewhere down the line, future-me would pick up a hobby I never knew of at that time (resin) and I could use those canvases to spill resin on top of for resin canvas art (I'm considering doing this) or I could use those acrylic paints to dye my ResinCrete.
tl;dr: Art Supplies have so much potential to cross different hobby worlds (you may not be aware of yet).

I'm going to share some things today because I've been organizing a few spaces and going through all of my stuff 😊
I know I haven't posted pictures of anything I've been working on in a long time and tbh I haven't been able to make anything in a long time, lol.
Last year some time, I learned about Eco Pour/Jesmonite and knew it was a safer medium to work with but I never really considered working with it until a few months ago. Part of me was like... nuh it's too thick and gloopy, it cures too fast for me and I don't like that, yada yada. I found every excuse to stick with the UV Resin that I love so much because it has indefinite work time and I could be as wishy-washy as I want, with all the freedom in the world to make my indecisive design choices (-it's also clear and I can do ocean/space themes with it).
But the more time away from working with resin I got (I guess withdrawals and boredom) due to the cold weather, the more I researched into it and I was like okay! I cave! I'll give it a go.
It's a lot safer to work with versus UV Resin and Epoxy, and because of that, I can work with it in my house where the temperature is more regulated versus my garage where it's freezing.
I wanted to work with Aqua Cast, the one that has a 30 minute work time, but because I live in the US and it's mostly a UK thing, it's rather pricey to buy here (due to shipping I guess?)
The next best thing here in the US, is ResinCrete (8 minute work time). ResinCrete isn't all that bad; you can extend the work time of it by adding a bit more water, but that also means you're extending the cure time. And me being me, I hate veering off the directions when it's something "science" structured. There's obviously a reason why it's ratio'd the way it is.
So, it's been a bit of a trial and error game with this. I bought some acrylic paints to dye it and at first I was like... why is it coming out thicker than I've seen in the videos? Then derpy me, reads the back of the packaging a bit more in-depth and it literally says "if you use acrylic paints, add more water" 🤦🏻♀️ ... that explains a lot.
Overall it's been fun using this stuff though. It's described as a ceramic type of resin and it definitely feels that way. I'm not going to show ALL of the things I've made- I want that to be a bit of a surprise for the if and when I ever get my shop up 😅😋
I also have a whole tray of UV resin pieces that I'm working on getting sorted out too. And then there's this other "scent stone" star thing I want to ramble about for a moment so stay tuned for that 🙃

Some tea lights! In hindsight, I probably should have put some tea lights in them and then taken the photos... 🤔. Just trust the tea lights fit perfectly in them, lol. I went on this whole ~buy all the tea light molds~ bender and oh boy. Don't be surprised when you see more tea light things from me later 😋

So uh... several things going on here 🫠.
I let things pile up, yes.
I started bagging up the FFXIV Job Stones (to protect them) and then it hit me- "maybe take a photo before doing this?"
Lots of happy/angry Octopuses. They're super cute 🐙💓
Yes there are some Star Necklace + Earring sets in there.
At this moment in time, I have no clue what I'm doing with those big moon/stars, there are no holes in them yet.
It never should have piled up like this, Lol. The clutter is now clear.
Okay, this. I was ranting over this in my last blog post.
Someone on Reddit asked if you can add scent to resin, and I responded saying yes, you can add essential oils to the back of Eco Pour such as ResinCrete like this 👆🏻. And I provided this 2-photo collage showing my little star with a trusted brand that I use and a star that I made with like 10 drops of oil on the back (after it's cured ofc- don't add the oil to it while it's still in mixture form or still curing).
I also explained to them to be careful because some oils are very yellow-orange and those are the good/legitimate oils. Also be careful where you place them because they can change the color of your piece. But overall the oil will suck into your Eco Pour like a sponge because this stuff is porous.
Anyways. People didn't like this advice, lol. I still have my little star in front of me. That post was made approx. 2 weeks ago and my little star has a faint aroma of that lavender oil- like, barely there. It needs reapplication but the fact I can still barely smell it on there says a lot.
If they (or the downvoters) had even half a mind, they could go to YouTube and research it themselves and see that other people do the same thing. That's how I learned of it 🤷🏻♀️
(Perhaps they questioned the essential oil advice, but I'm a huge aromatherapy nerd and I used to work at a day spa. My knowledge is not limited to just "trust me bruh." I actually have qualifications.)
But anyways. I think being on Reddit has lead me astray from being at inner peace and I need to avoid it. Trying to be helpful there in any shape, way, or form, simply doesn't work.
I'll have more (positive) stuff to post soon 🫶🏻. I also need to get back to updating my other social medias as well 🧩💭

Just a reddit ramble&rant
I've been visiting reddit almost everyday for the past couple a months, resin and uvresin subreddits as part of that. And as much as I try to offer advice in those... there are times I'd like to offer "speculation" of what I think might be happening and potential solutions of what I'd do in certain situations. It's usually on threads that get 0 comments/replies.
Thing is, people tend to downvote me on reddit when I do this. Unless I know 100% for absolute certainty what I'm doing, and even then, people are SO insanely critical. It deters me from suggesting insights or possible solutions or what have you. I wonder if other people feel the same.
I mean, you're simply trying to help other people out. Like, either skip over the advice, i.e. not take it, or take some of it, or go ahead and listen to it. If it was marked discussion/debate I could understand and it'd be another story. But why shoot someone in the foot that's taking time out of their day to help you out?
The way I feel is; I didn't HAVE to say anything. I didn't HAVE to offer advice from my own life experience. I could just skip over your reddit thread as if I never laid my eyes on it and let you learn your own life lessons for yourself the hard way. There is zero obligation for me to spend my time, on your post. So stop feeling so entitled.
It's getting to that point where I'm like, why do I bother? It's not just with the resin or uvresin subs, but with others that I've joined. Honestly the resin and uvresin subs are the NICER subs that I'm joined to. I think I'm just a little paranoid because of the others I'm joined to being so rude in this regard.
9 out of 10 times I don't offer advice or say something unless I've already been through that experience myself, have already read up on that topic and have the knowledge, know someone going through it first hand, etc. If I don't know something, I don't talk about it or I'll admit I know little to nothing about it. The other 1 out of 10 is that educated guessing through facts, science, pattern recognition, or again, I just shut the heck up, lol.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting people to be like "Omg thank you so much for yada yada! You're a life saver!" I'm not expecting anything. Not upvotes, but definitely not downvotes. Perhaps I'm just used to regular forums, because that's what I grew up with? You create a post within a topic, get replies, perhaps get replies to your replies within that post, that's it. Old-school but effective.
But anyways... it's almost epoxy and uvresin weather again! \o/ It's been too cold for me to go work in my garage but it's 63 F degrees average this week. Next week it drops back down to about 54 F average. Soon...
I did pick up working with ResinCrete (several months ago) and that's been fun, but can't make as many things that suit my personal tastes with this medium (such as ocean themes & space themes). I should take pictures sometime soon 🙃
Edit: So, I answered someone's question regarding EcoPour + Adding Scents to it and at first it seemed to get ⬆️ but then started to get ⬇️, lol. I'm feeling convinced people on reddit simply refuse to put in research or homework of their own and when you offer them the answers- if they don't like what they hear for whatever reason, they instantly downvote it. (Like a brand they don't like, for example. Or a company they're boycotting or dislike, or a price point they dislike, or a food you never knew they were allergic to, or a person they dislike, or a location they associate bad memories to. It's always some personal opinion that's unrelated to the original post that you could never have known about.)
[It's impossible to make everyone happy.]
Like, they get this question or idea and go directly to reddit seeking that instant gratification. They skip the research step entirely. And they expect to get a grandmaster in the art/topic to reply back to them.
I actually DO my own research, hundreds of hours of it. I read, watch vids and also put it through practical rigorous testing, trial and error with my own materials. I don't just toss nonsense out at people or spread around misinformation. So, you want to tell me my information is wrong and downvote me? That's perfectly fine with me. Go do better, come back and show me and the person asking the question(s) that I'm trying to help, proof of your more refined work and process.
I'm going to be blunt to the reddit people; get off your pedestal and stop asking other people questions if you're going to be a lazy slog and then proceed to be a jerk about it. This goes ten-fold for the people simply reading the comments, downvoting and not commenting a darn thing. If you don't know something or are iffy, leave it.
If you're going to downvote- contribute to the discussion and say WHY you're doing it. Odds are you're wrong, which is why you're NOT saying anything and you know you're wrong. Yeah, I'm calling you all out. Or you're nitpicking grammar/spelling and you know it's unjustified. You hecking trolls.
Remember most people have English as a second language. Which is more than I can say for most native English-only speakers and yet most native English-only speakers think they're above bilingual people for some stupid reason. Such backwards thinking 😖
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. People are upvoting the other people with comments saying "Resin is food safe" when it's anything BUT food safe. See one of my re-blogs below. Reddit culture is mind-numbingly moronic. I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry.
I'm about done with reddit, for my own sanity 🫠. I'll stick to posting here. At least here I can post it, it'll be here if anyone needs it to be referenced, it can be left alone indefinitely, or be engaged with (good or bad). There's no idiots spamming the non existent downvote button with no logical reason behind it, lol. (Unless the logic is that they don't want other people to know trade secrets and be successful?)
Which is a whole other topic on its own. People with confidence, security & happiness must be destroyed in some people's view?
I might get the occasional troll with the obvious "I'm here to annoy/taunt you" bait but that's just an instant block from me.
[To anyone who thinks this is overly dramatic; this is me setting personal mental boundaries and cutting out what other's may perceive as day to day peer social normalcy, but to me its toxicity.]
