Co-worker and I bonded this morning over how she and I are always the ones who get called in early to cover people’s shifts that they dropped suddenly due to illness (which you shouldn’t come into work sick anyways) and the fact that no one would do the same for either of us

And apparently no one covered any of my shifts while I was on vacation; the general manager didn’t schedule anyone to, meanwhile all last week I was covering someone who was on vacation

I’m starting to get real fed up with this, honestly; I’m a giver by nature but sometimes the giver wants things to be given to them in return and for things to be two-sided every now and again

Today was supposed to be a good and normal Monday, a start to a new week after last week’s semi-train wreck… and of course we were short three people and I had to exert myself by doing the jobs of two of those people

But today also showed me just how exhausted I am and close to burning out; I just want to take two weeks off and do absolutely nothing but sit in my garden and read my new books and play games with my friends near and far

Nothing like escaping from a day that kicked your ass into the dirt like playing Zelda and drinking a rum and Coke to wind down

It just occurred to me that I completely ignored a rude customer in order to get nice customers their drinks earlier today and I hope that dickhead felt a little bit of shame about his behavior

Have hardly written anything all week due to work being fucking exhausting but the gem of today was coming home to seeing my cat had made a summoning circle of toys in my absence

The thing about going into my job early for prep work (making dough and all that) is my managers will complain that prep gets behind and then “sets the tone for the rest of the day” and it wouldn’t happen if they scheduled more people for the early hours but they expect those of us who are already there to do the work of 3 people because apparently there are enough people to get prep work done 🙄

Work was rough in the sense that the big orders never quit but on the bright side I didn’t get a single rude asshole today, everybody was nice to me, and one of my co-workers kept correcting people on my pronouns because apparently when I say it it’s “lol you’re funny” and not “oh sorry thank you for telling me”

A hot butch with sleeve tattoos came into my work today and I was privileged enough to refill her drinks and when I was done my co-worker/friend was like “You’re blushing!“

I’m amazed my knees didn’t give out
