Aku merindukan matamu sebagaimana pucuk sadagori

menanti sinar matahari. Pagi sekali aku berjalan ke barat

tanpa alas kaki menyusuri pantai, sungai dan perbukitan.

Berdiri di tengah huma dan melihat kesedihan disemaikan.

Aku mengenangkan matamu sebagaimana bunga angsana

rindu pada udara. Menjelang petang aku beranjak ke utara

menghirup aroma kandang pada penghujung musim hujan.

Terus berbelok ke timur menuruni undakan-undakan sawah.

Kadang aku menghindari matamu sebagaimana kelelawar

memilih kegelapan. Aku sembunyi di bawah rimbun janitri

sambil menggelantung pada dahan-dahannya yang tinggi.

Aku kembali ke pantai ketika malam hampir sempurna

di kejauhan sebuah pulau karang menjelma titik cahaya.

Lalu aku meyakini titik tersebut adalah bola matamu.
