Happy Janther Week!

I'm late, but here is Day 1: Evanescent

Gunther's father tricks him into drinking a potion to make him forget all about his life in Kippernium when they move to a rival kingdom. One night, Gunther wakes up from a dream about someone, and it seems like he should know her. For the first time in a long time, he feels at home. But the harder he tries to remember the dream of this person he cares for, the faster it escapes his memory.

Day 4: Consume

Jane wolfs down her stew in her typical dragon-style hunger while her friends laugh as they tease her eating habits. Then, Jane notices Gunther watching from afar and invites him to join them. After a few days of casual conversation around the dinner table, she begins to see a different side to Gunther. Perhaps he isn’t as much of a biscuit-weevil as she thought.

Day 1. Evanescent That very moment when they see each other from afar and think: "Damn, this jerk again". Then they pass by each other and they barely touch with their fingers. And that's when they think: "Damn… That jerk again… (with love)".

(An unbelievably late fic for Janther week 2018 for the prompt ‘metanoia’, that is so late it’s come all the way around to 2023 for the prompt ‘ashes’.)

Day 3: Ritzy

Gunther leans against the wall in boredom. Sure, there are plenty of pretty ladies attending the Royal Ball, but none of them seem captivating enough to draw his attention. None, that is, until a red-head angel in a golden gown enters the ballroom.

Day 1: Evanescent

"When Gunther was ten, he realized that his mother was more of a concept than a person."

As Gunther grapples with the fading memories of his long-lost mother, he helps Jane restore her relationship with her own mother.

For the Janther Week prompt “evanescent”, as in a golden moment of Jane and Gunther getting along that will probably only last as long as they both stay asleep. (speaking as someone with siblings where only long and terrible car rides could lead to tenuous truces like this, they’re probably on a trip with the knights off to who knows where)
