I saw Deltora Quest made it on the Tor yearly book list for the first time and had to post a couple more sketches of the squad! DQ fandom rise up!!!

I like the idea of a deltora quest swap where Jasmine gets to be the sharp tongued hero who wears the magic belt and has a psychic link to the gems but also because I think it would be really funny if the kid that grew up in the forest was the one named Lief

another DQ based doodle dump, this time cuz i have been watching the anime along with the books (very fun doing that cuz i get to make fun of the anime for adding stupid stuff and changing things lmfao) i had just finished Shifting Sands when i did these but now i'm further ahead (just finished Maze of the Beast)

i had imagined Dain with a mole for whatever reason, but i don't think he has anything like that, i just think it adds to his "delicate features"

also some designs here aren't final, especially Barda, idk what's going on with him tbh lmao

and also Filli !!! i'm becoming more familiar with how to draw him, and currently that is "potato shape" and i love him <3 dunno what's going on with Kree tho,,

Okay so this stupid story idea won't leave me alone so I'm writing it down in the hopes that that gets it out of my head.

So Faith and Dain are both real AU. Faith is Jasmine little sister, but she's been experiment on by the Shadowlord while he was creating Old, and was in a magical statist a lot of the time so she's a little younger than she probably should be. Dain was captured by the pirates and sold to the Shadowlord.

Jasmine takes a longer to realize Leif and Doom didn't know about Faith, on account of her being real. They've been back at the castle for a few weeks, and Jasmine is actually preparing to leave with Faith, when a very timid Dain ask why she's mad and points out that based on Faith's age, what the Shadowlord told them, and the reveal of the fake belt and new heir, Lief couldn't have known, and Doom was likey to no either.

Jasmine goes to talk to Lief and they make up.

The alternative is basically the same thing but but a few years later, because Jasmine does leaves. The rumors of Lief's newest adventure (aka series 3) draws Jasmine into a market where she meets Dain, who is traveling with Lief.

took a(n accidental) long break from my reread of Deltora Quest, but i went back to it and finally started the reread of Lake of Tears, so here's another little messy Jasmine doodle (feat. Kree and Filli) with her hair up like in the very beginning of the book (cuz that's as far as i got before the Urge to Draw™ hit me)

also i am a fluffy Filli creachure truther, looked up one of the official art for his species and was like "jesus christ what the fuck is that??" 😭
