i’ll never forget that the first time i watched julie and the phantoms, during the last episode after they became corporeal and hugged i just shouted “THEY CAME BACK TO LIFE BECAUSE OF THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP” and immediately burst into tears

Ya ever just think about how Bright is the most viewed performance of Jatp on Youtube? And most viewed meaning 59 MILLION people saw it?? Not only that but Jatp has two spots for their top five most popular videos on their channel.

For live action, Jatp still holds the spot for their most popular in that category at least.

That is insane to think that at most, 59 MILLION people witnessed Jatp by just casually being online. Like the likely of someone seeing Bright as their first exposure to Jatp is so nice. Them seeing the boys join Julie on stage just bc they wanted to and you see them find out in the moment that they can be seen by the audience is so heartwarming. Like that is their introduction to Jatp and that’s just wonderful to think about.

Edge of Great also potentially being their intro to Jatp is great too like thinking about it without context that performance leaves you with so much questions and intrigue as to what’s going on and it makes me happy thinking about how there may have been people who just saw the performance clips and were intrigued and then sought to watch Jatp to find out what was happening and they just experienced the magic of Jatp in the process 🥰 it just makes my heart happy

It’s the way I haven’t listened to a Jatp song in a while (they haven’t played on my playlist in a bit) and I watched the performance clip for Edge of Great and I just started tearing up bc it just has that effect.

ITS SUCH A GOOD PERFORMANCE MY GOD and then like listening to the lyrics with the knowledge that Julie and Luke wrote this one together like it just makes you think of the lyrics in such a different way. The way that Julie goes into the performance wanting to avoid Luke bc “hey he’s a ghost turns out I may like him bc I daydreamed a whole ass choreography sequence with him nope cannot have a crush on him” but yet her outfit is literally purple and blue butterflies. And she’s jamming with Reggie this time instead of with both of them and Luke sees it and is so confused bc from his perspective nothing new happened between them so he’s probably just really confused why she’s avoiding him and then way Julie ignores his head nod for her to come over by him bc she’s like “NO I CAN’T I HAVE TO RESIST” and she leaves the boys to interact with the crowd more meanwhile Reggie goes over to Luke like “hey what’s happening over there 👀” like the way they will do that in performances like these little expressions with each other to acknowledge they see what’s happening while performing idk it just makes you believe so much that they’re legitimate characters reacting to their environment.

And then the way that as a final effort Luke sings to her with his guitar and that does indeed do the trick like “Julie pls just look at me” and then the way Nick is trying to look past people to see what’s happening bc see he’s plays guitar so he must see what Luke is doing and seeing how it’s wooing Julie and he’s like “huh 👀 what’s goin on with that 👀” bc at this point he must realize “…I think I had bad timing on my part to start being interested in Julie” and then Carrie’s outfit just looks great like it’s simple but I love how it goes with her hair and it matches her nails we love a coordinated queen.

AND THE PIANO MIC SHARE MOMENT IT NEVER GETS OLD ITS SO MAGICAL EVERY TIME I JUST-

TSS: some things have not aged all that well (some comments from and about George) still have no idea if i did read this book or not way back in 2013. wish Barnes was proud of them in the show for Combe Carey Hall as well

and i would have loved to see them deliver the scene when Lucy tells Lockwood what happened back home just they have the acting chops to make [436] me yell "I trust your Talent and your judgement, and i'm very proud to have you on my team. OK?" (also lmao about Lucy running from the conversation with Lockwood and then what Lucy fell on when the skull spoke) also "Lockwood laughed again. Really laughed, I mean. He'd thrown his head back, I could tell"

TWS: didn't make official end of book thoughts for this (idk why) but here is my notes through reading it properly. i did enjoy it though

the time between books got me a wee bit confused (it's easily done the moment 7 months was mentioned any semblence of understanding went out the window then my brain caught up)

uh did we need explanations of things when there is a glossary at the back of the book (and another book before hand)

19 the wraith hunting being cut out of the show (it was referenced we just don't see it) is really understandable considering the special effects involved it was a lot of ghosts

i was looking through my notes app and found some notes i wrote while reading edge of great (the jatp novelisation) in feburary 2021 so i thought i'd post them bc i miss the time when i was so obsessed with jatp i could quote large parts of it from memory:

okay so i finished it and it was fun to read overall but i felt like past episode 3 was very rushed and condensed (makes sense since episode 3 finished past the half-way point of the book) and it stopped being as well written (barely any internal dialogue and descriptors), and some moments were mischaracterised heavily (including a lot of the willex) and juke just didn't seem developed at all. also i wish reggie had gotten more pov chapters since he's, y'know, a main character. i'm pretty sure he got, like, 2 :( also a lot of the music scenes lacked emotion but since this is an adaptation of something with music without music i'll let it slide. it was still nice to read either way.
