i was watching this video which point out something really interesting

its during the final standoff, where john, micah, javier, and bill are all forced to choose between arthur and dutch.

micah, bill, dutch, and the two guys micah had join all have their weapons point at john and arthur. they’re tense, on the offense, ready to kill arthur and john.

but javier’s arm is relaxed, his gun isnt pointed at anybody. it’s pointed up or off to the side for most of the encounter.

i think this is a great moment of characterization, it really emphasizes the fact that javier has always been loyal to a fault to dutch, but he’s also loyal to the gang. they’re his family, and he doesnt want to hurt any of them. javier really does love the gang, especially john and arthur, theyre his brothers. this is also backed up by the mission in chapter 1, when arthur and javier had to go look for john. “he’d do the same for me” they really had a close and good relationship. he’s probably scared and confused because of all the chaos, within the gang and outside of it as well. he doesnt know what to think or what to believe. he’s always idealized dutch, but he’s seeing now that maybe dutch’s actions are wrong and really its not worth it to blindly follow him anymore

idk i thought this was really interesting. i’ve never played the first game, so i dont know how javier has changed in the almost 10 years since the events of chapter 6, but if someone who has played could add on id love to hear your thoughts!!

I had actually planned on doing this, so thank you for giving me more of a reason to do it!
