i was gonna add some of the weird info i've picked up about steve balsamo in that ask i sent to the bizarre blorbo poll runner but i didn't want to send them a super long message so i'm putting it here. listen to me. before he got the part of jesus on the west end he did a passion play for school and when he was on the cross he felt certain that he "was going to do this again". he had a weird daydream/vision of himself in a recording studio with meatloaf and when he got to the recording studio for the jcs album it was the same room from his dream. also ted neeley (former jesus) was a backup singer in meatloaf and this guy just had no idea until ted told him. and he was like holy shit. he saw what he thought was the face of a demon at the time when he was on the cross on the west end. he now believes it was either fake blood that dripped into his eye from his forehead and/or the energy of past productions of dracula within that theater somehow projected the image into his brain?? he believes in manifestation and synchronicities. he is a big fan of carl jung. his jesus hair and facial hair was all natural and he didn't even grow it for the musical, he just already had it like that. he was in a band. he sheds real tears every time he sings gethsemane. one of his choir teachers told him he couldn't sing. he got into a performing arts school by accident. he has one of the most gorgeous voices i've like ever heard. in the documentary about the 90s west end production of jcs, he wears this cunty little choker with this huge pendant hanging off it for like 90% of his out of costume scenes

would love to be useful but unfortunately I once again stuck in tristan patel - judas iscariot parallels specifically in portrayals where the betrayal comes from a fundamental place of deep fear and strategic caution and deep love and emotion being the primary thing that pushes him into the corner …. it’s about pledging yourself to people with greater ideals who push forward on dangerous paths when you’re sure you can see the ruins in which it ends … it’s about being the one person who can see the mythical figure you love as human … it’s about trying to save the relentlessly doomed who holds your pathetic heart and who won’t save themselves … it’s about “ you have set them all on fire / they think they’ve found the new messiah / and they’ll hurt you when they find they’re wrong ” … it’s about “ I am frightened by the crowd / for we are getting much too loud / and they’ll crush us if we go too far ” … it’s about “ listen to the warning I give / please remember that I want us to live ” … it’s about setting the doomed narrative in motion in your attempt to unravel it …

Oh my god I just noticed that at the end of some renditions of Superstar you can hear the opening horns from Simon Zealotes. Because Simon practically worshipped Jesus in life, and now that Jesus is dead, the real worship begins

Why did my brain decide to focus on ranking every version of “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” on Spotify instead of the fucking driving test I have to take in 48 hours?!?

I’m truly obsessed with the 1996 JCS production’s Last Supper. They commit so hard to the drunk apostles. The way some sing slightly out of time or shout lyrics. The way it gets more pronounced as the night goes on and the Jesus-Judas divorce is going down. No one is doing it like them
