Just Desserts continental northern map made using this method! :D (Patreon)
#My art#Just Desserts#The JD residents all live on the northmost landmass in the middle green area - which I've been calling The Basin#It's a fairly flat area that has a very extreme mountain range to its north#They jut up extremely and then clifface on the coastline - keeps the Basin very protected from high moisture!#I've mentioned before how the JD universe doesn't really have summers - I mean that's Partially true#The Basin only experiences three seasons but the more south you go the more seasonal variation there is#But Residents can't stand the heat - even ones that are pastries that would require heat to bake don't fare well day after day#So none live in warmer climes! Other things do tho :)#It's funny to me how piecemeal this idea came together haha#The map-making trick is hecka cool! And it was definitely the push I needed but there are other bits of this that fell in line first#Most especially the fun little idea that I've doodled here or there and talked about in bits and pieces#Of how since the residents are candy that they mine teeth like cavities haha - it's canon now! >:3c#The northern mountains are the silhouette of the lower half of a human jaw! And with how they jut up - the mountains are shaped like teeth!#The Basin is the basin of the mouth/jaw where the tongue would normally be - the tasty bit haha#And residents do have a calcium-mining industry up there - and if the deposits happen to form in a specific shape well ♪ Hehehe#I'm still parsing what I'd like the mineral to Do exactly - it's more likely to be a building material than a food item but hmm#Why would they have such a need for it! Something more to consider#For now it's just a fun idea that finally got put to reality hehe ♪ And it was a fun thing to work on! :D#I'm not sure yet of what other landmasses might be around - maybe this is the whole world! - or what other fauna and flora there is#I'm back on thinking about Elemental Magic so there's that lol I can't help it#I'd like for the JD universe's magic system to be a little more defined :) Every little step helps!#See if you can identify the other silhouettes I used! :D

Season 3 rewatch feels perfect right about now, maybe I can pretend it’s a year ago with all these WT anniversaries coming and going. Sigh, we were so naive…
I know you’ve likely answered this before and also I know there isn’t anyone who has a freaking clue what’s going on BUT do you have a gut feeling timeline you’re willing to share?
The past few weeks have been interesting and kind of nice? I have zero expectations, especially because nothing is certain…I don’t find myself wavering on what I think about Nic and Luke (which is that they are together) but instead sometimes questioning if/when it will be revealed or at least if a line will be drawn between A and JD. I hope so…I feel less exhausted in the last few weeks but no less impatient 🫣
Happy rewatch!
I’m in the same boat as you anon! I feel what you’re feeling. It’s hard to parse when we don’t know what’s going to happen next but that’s part of what keeps us here. That and the inevitable drop we’re all in waiting for.
As far as a timeline? I waffle on it. I have multiple starting points but it all eventually leads into chaos week, which is when I think we saw indication that Luke was back and things were turning around.
It’s the lead up to that where I find myself accepting multiple theories, with some ultimately not making a whole ton of sense and some seeing a little too far reaching.
But I’m also not someone who tends to dwell on the past. What’s done is done and you can only move forward.
However, one day, when I feel the motivation, I would like to write up my thesis presenting my multiple different theories that lead into August 2024 until the current point in time.

Markos Moulitsas (kos) at Daily Kos:
In the wake of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s exit from his failed independent bid for president, Republicans were giddy at his endorsement, and that (re)endorsement of former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard a few days later. In their minds, it was but the beginning of a flood of Democratic defections to Donald Trump. That never happened. But Republicans sure are defecting to the Democratic ticket! It’s hard to understate just how excited conservatives were.
"We now have a trio of Power Rangers who can swoop right into the middle of the rival party and convince traditional Democrats that it's OK to leave a party that left them,” a senior Trump adviser told conservative outlet Just the News, founded by former Washington Examiner editor John Solomon, back on Aug. 24. The quote was so ridiculous, that this “senior Trump adviser” was too embarrassed to put his name on it. The third “Power Ranger” is Elon Musk, who is an independent. "I think that the Trump people should package Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F Kennedy Jr, together, and they would—as joint former Democrat witnesses about the corruption of the system—be devastating,” said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on the “John Solomon Reports” podcast, apparently with a straight face.
“[I]t shows you that today's Democratic Party is leaving these people behind. Today's Democratic Party is so radical, so dangerous, so progressive, that there are millions of Democrats who are leaving that party every day," said Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley to Just the News. "We're seeing thousands of them that are coming our way.” Yeah, no they’re not. In fact, their endorsements only serve to remind voters of how weird and creepy Republicans are. Kennedy was funded by right-wing donors in order to take votes from the Democratic ticket, and was so batshit crazy that he repelled weirded-out Democrats and ended up taking votes from the Republican ticket. He would’ve stayed in if any Democrats were actually interested in what he was selling.
[...] Musk, long lost to the fever swamps of the right, isn’t attracting any Democrats anytime soon. On Sunday, Musk tweeted “interesting observation” at an incel posting that women and “low T men” shouldn’t be allowed to vote. “Only high T alpha males and aneurotypical people (hey autists!) are actually free to parse new information with an objective ‘is this true?’ filter,” the weirdo wrote. “This is why a Republic of high status males is best for decision making. Democratic, but a democracy only for those who are free to think.” Not really the sort of thing any campaign should be associating with, even if this is the sort of material Sen. JD Vance might embrace. Gabbard hasn’t damaged Trump by association this past week simply because she hasn’t said anything publicly. She’s supposedly helping Trump with debate prep, playing the role of Vice President Kamala Harris. But nothing in her history suggests she’ll attract traditional Democrats. She lost the plot a long time ago.
Kamala Harris has oodles of GOP endorsements, such as Adam Kinzinger. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has very few Democrats endorsing him.

Trump suggests he’s above the law with ominous Napoleon quote
Trump’s allies and Elon Musk are attacking checks and balances with threats to the courts
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing.
Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

Donald Trump appeared to quote Napoleon Bonaparte by way of Rod Steiger on Saturday afternoon after his blitzkrieg of executive actions and threats to federal agencies under Elon Musk were challenged in courts across the country, raising alarms that his administration is preparing to shred court orders and ignite a constitutional crisis.
“He who saves his Country does not violate any Law,” the president wrote on Truth Social and X.
The president — whose efforts to gut federal funding, fire thousands of aid workers and unilaterally redefine the 14th Amendment were blocked in federal courts across the country in recent days — invoked a quote often attributed to Napoleon, who justified his despotic regime as the will of the people of France.
The quote from a president with his own imperial ambitions appeared to come from the 1970 film Waterloo, in which Steiger’s Napoleon states that he “did not ‘usurp’ the crown.”
“I found it in the gutter, and I picked it up with my sword, and it was the people … who put it on my head,” he says. “He who saves a nation violates no law.”
youtube
Within his first month in office, Trump’s allies have baselessly argued Trump’s supreme authority as president, immune from checks and balances, as his executive orders and Musk’s access to the levers of government face an avalanche of lawsuits and restraining orders.
Musk and other members of the Trump administration have smeared the judges who have ruled against them as “corrupt” and “evil” and threatened to impeach and remove them from the bench.
The world’s wealthiest man and his allies have repeated false and inflated claims about how the three branches of government operate, and how a system of checks and balances is designed to prevent the presidency from accumulating supreme authority.
Their comments are raising alarms among constitutional scholars and legal analysts for an impending constitutional crisis — which the White House blames on the judges, not the president’s spurious legal actions and the administration’s baseless insistence that he should not be subject to checks and balances in the courts.
Trump, now seemingly invoking his own “l’etat, c’est moi” maxim, routinely conflated the criminal and civil cases against him with an attack on the American people and rule of law itself during his campaign.
The Supreme Court’s 2024 ruling affirming a president’s “immunity” from criminal prosecution for actions tied to official duties while in office has only fueled what he perceives is a permanent shield from oversight.
The New York Times’s Jamelle Bouie called Trump’s latest statement “the single most un-American and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an American president.”
“We're getting into real Führerprinzip territory here,” added conservative Trump critic Bill Kristol, referencing executive authority under Nazi Germany, granting the word of the führer above all.
Musk’s ongoing campaign to delegitimize the courts followed Vice President JD Vance’s claim that “judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”
This week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused the “media” of “fear mongering” about an impending constitutional crisis.
“The real constitutional crisis is taking place within our judicial branch where district court judges in liberal districts are abusing their power,” she told reporters on Wednesday.
She falsely claimed that court-ordered injunctions against the administration have “no basis in the law.”
“We will comply with these orders but it is also the administration's position that we will ultimately be vindicated,” she said.

UK100 Swings Higher, GBPUSD Advances
UK stocks ended mixed on Thursday, unsettled by weak British Retail Consortium (BRC) data, and with clothing discount chain Primark cutting its guidance.
The BRC said consumer expectations over the next three months of their personal financial situation dropped to minus 4 in January, while expectations of the state of the economy worsened to minus 34 and personal spending on retail fell to minus 9.
On foreign exchanges, sterling ticked higher amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding any trade tariffs new US President Donald Trump may implement. Versus a weaker US dollar, the pound edged up 0.08% to 1.2327, while against the euro, sterling added 0.13% to 1.1849.
GBPUSD H1
Traders were parsing a wide-ranging address by President Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos. US stocks were mixed in morning trade as more focus remains on White House chatter than economic factors and the impending first Federal Reserve policy meeting of 2025 next week.
US data on Thursday showed initial jobless claims increased by 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 223,000 for the week ended January 18, only slightly above forecasts for 220,000 claims.
At the stock market close in London, the FTSE 100 index was up 0.2% at 8,565, but the FTSE 250 index was down 0.3% at 20,520.
AB Foods was a big FTSE 100 faller, down 3.0%, as the food to retail conglomerate said its clothing stores business, Primark is now targeting low-single digit sales growth in 2025 compared to previous guidance of a mid-single digit rise, after weak trading in the UK.
Sainsbury shed 1.6% after the supermarkets group announced it will cut more than 3,000 jobs and plans to shut down its remaining in-store cafes as part of a major overhaul. The headcount reduction represents about 2% of the company's current 148,000-strong workforce.
And JD Sports lost 1.6% knocked by the Primark news, a profit warning from German firm Puma, as well as a downgrade to 'neutral' from 'buy' by analysts at Citi following the at-leisure-retailer’s own soft festive trading update.
UK100Roll H1
On the second line, car dealership Inchcape dropped 15.3% following a downgrade to 'neutral' from 'overweight' by analysts at JPMorgan Chase.
CMC Markets tumbled 16.8% after posting a very brief, and uninspiring trading update, even though the spread betting platform operator said it remains on track to deliver full-year net operating income in line with previous guidance.
And spread-betting rival IG Group dropped 6.2% as worries about active client numbers weighed against strong interim results, with more than a 30pc jump in profits, a hike in dividend, and an extension to its share buyback program.
But on the upside, precision instruments maker Spectris jumped 10.5% after revealing that it expects its adjusted operating profit for 2024 to be above consensus after a strong fourth quarter.
And Mitie rose 1.1% after the outsourcing group delivered record quarterly revenues in the three months ended 31 December 2024, reflecting strong organic growth.

"JD Vance, hinted at “a deregulatory agenda so that people can pick a health care plan that fits them.” If you actually parse his words about health insurance risk pools, it would be a return to a world where people could be charged more for coverage if they have preexisting medical conditions, the world before Obamacare.
It was the same promise Johnson was making. That is the reality: Should they win control of the White House and Congress this election, Republicans will attempt to cut people’s health care."

Could AI Tools Like HireLake AI Revolutionize the Recruitment Industry?
AI-powered tools like HireLake AI are transforming recruitment processes, automating everything from resume parsing to candidate engagement. But could these tools fundamentally change the way we hire? Let’s dive into this thought experiment.
Scenario: Imagine a world where recruitment is fully managed by AI—from parsing resumes and matching job descriptions to conducting initial candidate assessments and engaging with applicants. With AI streamlining each step of the hiring process, recruiters could focus on more strategic tasks like employer branding and relationship building.
Analysis:
Potential Benefits:
Efficiency: AI could dramatically reduce the time required to find, assess, and hire candidates, making the process more efficient and cost-effective.
Objective Assessments: AI-driven features, such as communication skills assessment and JD matching, provide objective insights that can reduce biases in hiring decisions.
Challenges:
Loss of Human Touch: While AI can handle data-driven tasks, the personal interaction between recruiters and candidates is essential for understanding cultural fit and motivation.

Getting the Hang of the Power Automate Substring Function: A Complete Guide

In the realm of mechanization, Power Automate (previously known as Microsoft Stream) stands apart as a powerful device for making work processes that coordinate different administrations and applications. One of the key highlights that can altogether improve your work processes is the substring function. This article digs into the Power Automate substring function, investigating its applications and giving reasonable guides to assist you with utilizing its maximum capacity.
What is the Power Automate Substring Function?
The substring function in Power Automate is a string control device that permits you to extricate a piece of a string in view of determined boundaries. This function is especially helpful while managing information change, text examination, or when you want to portion data in a more reasonable configuration.
Grammar of the Substring Function
The fundamental grammar for the substring function in Power Automate is as per the following:
substring(string, startIndex, length)
string: The text from which you need to separate a substring.
startIndex: The situation inside the string where the extraction starts (0-based file).
length: The quantity of characters you need to extricate.
Functional Models
How about we investigate a few viable situations where you could involve the substring function in Power Automate:
Separating a Client's Initials
Assume you have a complete name, John Doe, and you want to remove the initials JD for a hello or personalization. You can accomplish this with the substring function.
substring(triggerOutputs()?['body/Name'], 0, 1) // Extracts 'J'
substring(triggerOutputs()?['body/Name'], 5, 1) // Extracts 'D'
Here, the substring function is utilized to get characters from the predetermined lists.
Parsing Dates
On the off chance that you're managing a date string like 2024-08-03 and you need to extricate the year or month, the substring function can be exceptionally helpful.
substring('2024-08-03', 0, 4) // Extracts '2024'
substring('2024-08-03', 5, 2) // Extracts '08'
This permits you to deal with date data progressively inside your work process.
Taking care of Dynamic Information
While working with information that changes much of the time, for example, extricating values from a JSON object or a progressively created email body, the substring function segregates explicit snippets of data.
substring(triggerOutputs()?['body/EmailBody'], indexOf(triggerOutputs()?['body/EmailBody'], 'Start') + 6, indexOf(triggerOutputs()?['body/EmailBody'], 'End') - indexOf(triggerOutputs()?['body/EmailBody'], 'Start') - 6)
This model concentrates text between two catchphrases powerfully.
Methods for Utilizing the Substring Function
Guarantee Legitimate Ordering: Recall that the substring function utilizes 0-based ordering. Guarantee your startIndex and length boundaries are exact to stay away from blunders.
Handle Exemptions: Consider situations where the string may be more limited than the normal length. Use conditionals to effortlessly deal with such cases.
Join with Different Functions: Consolidate the substring function with other Power Automate functions like indexOf and concat for more mind boggling text controls.
End
The Power Automate substring function is a flexible device that can fundamentally improve your work processes by permitting exact command over text information. Whether you're removing initials, parsing dates, or dealing with dynamic substance, dominating this function can smooth out your mechanization processes and further develop your information the board abilities.

hey got any trans sammy lawrence headcanons
Kinda! I do really like trans Sammy as a general, canon-based headcanon; Sammy having such an Unmistakably Masculine form in ink hell that might’ve once represented a desire or self-image that was important to him, combined with the way his human self seems to behave as if he’s not sure he can survive on his own, as if he believes the world will be especially hostile to him, just seems like it could fit together well. Also: the sanctuary is for binder breaks.
But most of my specific thoughts are about Sammy in the Cthulhu AU! More below the cut:
Sammy had never met anyone Like Him when he transitioned; he just saw a chance to be someone new when he started playing for movies as a teen, and when it worked, and it felt right, he never looked back.
He didn’t start getting crushes on boys until he transitioned, but he’s always had crushes on girls.
Sammy has never had the guts to cut ties fully with his family, though he’s ghosting them a lot. As far as they know, he’s “pretending to be a man” to further his career, which is a choice they support, but he’s never tried to correct them.
Chest binding was just in fashion in his time period so it wasn’t hard for Sammy to get a binder. He is……..not as safe as he should be with it and Jack is working to get him to take more breaks.
Sammy intentionally works out to get a more masculine shape, which is why he’s more buff than you might expect from a music director.
His dysphoria is less based on his physical form and more on how he’s seen and treated; he prefers to look more masc and adjusts his presentation so that other people will parse him correctly, but like, having a chest isn't the worst thing if nobody ever sees it.
(He actually prefers long hair, but thought that wouldn’t work and initially cut it short to pass. The confidence that came from Joey never seeing him differently is a big part of why he grew it out)
When he originally picked it, "Sammy" wasn’t short for anything; his name is just Sammy. Joey seems to assume it’s short for Samuel and has called him that enough times that it’s probably on his employee identification somewhere; Sammy likes it as a nickname well enough and has never bothered to correct him.
Jack and Sammy are both trans and despite having worked together for years before JDS, nEITHER ONE CAME OUT TO THE OTHER UP UNTIL AFTER THE NEW ORLEANS TRIP. They just… got vibes from each other. This person feels safe. This person feels like they might Get Me.
Technically Joey and Sammy have met Once pre-transition as young teens at a party, where Sammy’s weird assertiveness and lack of personal space made Joey worry a girl was hitting on him and flee the scene. Sammy recognised him the next time they met; Joey has never put this together.

old scribble of this incident feat. reasons Sammy has absolutely zero doubt that Joey is gay

in ways we can’t fully articulate rewatching does make it really strange to us how many women over the years have seemed to parse veronica (film) as an aspirational countercultural figure who is smarter than society and other people when like. she spends a lot of the movie behind on jd’s intentions

Sealing the Deal part 2
Summary: Dick has a perfectly reasonable idea.
a/n: There will probably be more parts to this since you people gave me so many ideas but for now here is some soft smut. Did I finish this just in time for the end of mermay? Yes.
warning: Attempt at soft smut

Part 1
"Let's get married."
It takes around a minute for you to even register the fact that Dick had even said anything at all and another to parse out the meaning behind his words. You look up from the piece you've been slaving over for hours while Dick dozed on your lap.
"Let's get married." He repeats earnestly.
You narrow your eyes at him. You... clearly missed at least 2 diatribes and 40% of this conversation. "Uh Dickie, my love, did I miss the part where you divorced me or did I sleep through it like I did when Wally was preaching about raw fish?" You set your tools down and pull his pelt more tightly around you, feeling oddly protective of it.
Seeing you wrapped up in his pelt never failed to make Dick's chest flutter; unfortunately, he had to focus on the matter at hand. "As I was saying, we're married but not in the human way. "
"Ah- Yeah, I see that but.. that seems entirely unnecessary."
"There's no harm in it." Dick says, looking at you with big hopeful eyes. No matter whether it’s his liquid seal eyes or his bright baby blues, you’re still a sucker.
He is definitely up to something. Dick always uses that look when he really wants something and you can already feel yourself falling for it. Who thought giving this man the cutest face in the world was a good idea? Who?! You sigh. Spousal homicide is a bad idea, you tell yourself.
"You're so lucky you're terribly cute," you huff, "you're also lucky that there's a ferry coming tomorrow."
You mentally calculate how much time the whole trip would take but you know all that arithmetic is useless when you hazard a look at your husband. Dick beams, dimples appear at the corners of his mouth, and makes the happiest little noises.

The sound of voices and clinking of glasses mingle around you like a bustling symphony: discordant, rhythmic, clashing but endlessly vibrant. The scent of alcohol hung thick in the air, enough to taste and intoxicate. The amount of people in such a small space made something under your skin hum, whether it was simply an irritable Yasiri or the buzzing energy stored in your bones or maybe even a genuine discomfort, you weren’t entirely sure.
You sip lightly at the scotch in your glass, letting it burn through your throat, but it wasn’t enough to make the itch in it go away completely.
You watch Dick’s eyes intently as they slide past you, just over your shoulder. His sentences coalesce clumsily, syllables squishing and clipping at odd ends as his plush bottom lip catches between his teeth. His eyes are glossy with interest even in the dim lights of the pub. His pupils are blown and dark. You fight everything in you to stamp down the urge to huff or roll your eyes. Not that he would have noticed. You’re pretty sure you could stab someone in the eye and Dick wouldn’t even blink, not when he is so enraptured by whatever the hell is behind you. You feel a gross sticky sort of jealousy pool in the pit of your stomach. You swallow it down not really knowing of any other way to deal with it.
You arch a brow, the tips of your nails tapping loudly against the lacquered wood of the table as Dick once again stumbles absentmindedly over his story about Wally West being living proof of the need for warning labels (for people). You click your teeth irritably while Yasiri’s tail rattles against your collarbone before you take another sip, eyes following his only for them to land on a vivacious redhead at the bar. The irritation bubbling in your veins dwindles into mild amusement. Your best friend is a hilariously predictable moron.
“She is either a suspect or you’re being a creep.” You tease, the cruel curve of your lips barely obscured by the glass pressed against them. The mockery in your eyes shining amber like the drink in your glass. Dick’s cheeks flush as the playful lilt in your voice lances through the fog in his mind. He looks at you, dopey and red-cheeked as if he didn’t know what you were talking about. You roll your eyes, nostrils flaring letting out a breath caught between a huff and a laugh. “Stalker.” You hiss, trying to smother the warmth in your voice with sheer, unadulterated pettiness.
Dick levels you a look, cutting and vicious if he wasn’t flushed. “Am not.” He whines halfheartedly, eyes flicking once again to the woman at the bar. Some part of you is sure you really ought to be mad at him. After all, you haven’t seen each other for almost half a year. This is thanks in part to work and in part to work getting royally fucked up. Thankfully, not because of Gotham’s resident furry and his new little bird boy. Really, you should be furious at being sidelined considering this outing was his idea but here you were smirking into your malt whiskey, tickled.
“Then stop staring.” You challenge, unfolding and relaxing into the moldy cushioning of the bar. Dick glares at you, the pout on his lips obscured by his hand as he rests his chin on his palm but you know it’s there. You’ve memorized the plains of his face and how they shaped themselves, a product of spending far too much time staring at the details. Hey, if he was gonna third wheel you the least you could do was tease him about it. “Or do you want me to wingman for you~”
“HELL NO”
You can’t stop the cackle that spills from your lips. “Why not?!”
“I’m not letting you cockblock me. AGAIN.”
“That was one tiiime, Joystick.”
“Once was enough!"
"’Fiiiine but to be fair, you still ended up dating her, didn’t you?” You defended weakly, running your fingers through your hair, jostling the already wind whipped strands. Dick was red-faced. The liquor was definitely working through his system. The color in his cheeks was lively and cute, making him look boyish despite how much he’d grown. You had, in fact, cockblocked him due to an extreme bout of jealousy, childishness, and hormones. Back then you hadn’t yet learned the art of burying your feelings 6 feet under.
“Fine, fine, fine. Just shoot your shot, Dickie bird.” This does not appease him. He, in fact, crosses his arms over his chest. You set your glass down and raise your brow. “If you fail, I’ll buy you a round.” You add placatingly. Dick’s eyes slide over your shoulder, the lump in his throat bobbing.“Make that two.”
Your eyes shine, cat-like the dim lighting of the lamp overhead. You smile at him all cocksure, placing your chin on your intertwined fingers.“Deal.”
Dick gives you a withering look as he pushes off the table. You take a sip of your daiquiri as he moves through the crowd, gracefully slicing through the sea of bodies. No, maybe they were parting just for him. Dick does have that air about him. A pull that made it so painfully obvious that he was so much more. Dick also had this way of talking that made you unsure of whether you’re being flirted with or if it’s just the way he talks to people. Either way, he had this way of making you feel special and you had no doubt he would sweep this one off her feet.
The redhead at the bar tipped her head finally sensing his gaze on her and as per your expectation, she seemed to reciprocate the interest. Not that you can blame her. Dick was a 10 on his worst day. Now that you thought about it, you’ve never actually seen Dick flirt. You’ve seen him banter but flirt? You can’t seem to think of an instance of it. This’ll be fun.
You watch him closely and your brows climb higher than you thought they could. Something was off, something very un-Dick-like. There’s an unsteadiness in his step that makes your stomach sink. Dick wouldn’t. Even Dick wasn’t stupid enough to blow his shot just to get a few shots, would he?
And then it happened.
“Did it hurt when you hit your face?” Dick asks, winking stiffly. A ripple of pain lances through you followed by an unbearable wave of second-hand embarrassment. “Excuse me?!” Her face morphs into something terrifying before Dick’s brain can catch up. You watch in mute horror as Dick’s face slowly matches the sinking feeling in your gut as embarrassment suffused his entire body.
“Wait, shit. I- I meant- Shit. I didn’t mean to say you look like you banged your face. I mean, of course, you don’t-” You watch in fascination as Dick stumbles through apology after apology after apology. Until finally, he gives up. “Actually, I’ll just leave.” Dick shambles gracelessly back to your table while your brain tries to process what just happened.
You wheeze against the table, pounding your fist against the table. “Dickie, yanno you did have a shot before you opened your mouth, right?” Your hand is clamped over your mouth trying to stop the shrill cackle bubbling in your throat.
“Y/n...”
“Jeez, Dicktopus, was gin really worth getting blue balled?”

part 2
You look like you're gonna die from boredom in your little fishing boat.
Dick rolls over to where Jason was sprawled and used his momentum to push the larger seal into the water. Jason gives an undignified squawk of outrage. Dick just preens and looks smug.
You cup your hand over your mouth as you begin to laugh.
Jason glares even harder at Dick. Dick... couldn't care even less if he tried. All he can focus on is the wrinkle in the corners of your eyes. They'd been gone for so long these past few months. It felt like the first ray of sun after a long storm.
Dick claps his fins in excitement even as Jason snuffs and rolls his eyes.

Useless

Summary: Jason has no idea how 'get a guard dog' could be misinterpreted.
a/n: Dedicated to @littleredwing89 's dog who is an endless source of delight. Happy birthday, you useless mutt(affectionate).
warning: none
Jason did was pretty fucking sure he didn't need to be specific with his suggestion.
"Get a guard dog."
Which part of that was up to interpretation?
He glares down that large bundle of fur wagging its tail at him expectantly.
"Hey (Y/n), you got a receipt for him, yeah?" Jason asks (hopefully) as he stares into the mutt’s large sparkly eyes. The dog opens his mouth, panting at Jason and pawing at his leg.
You peek your head out of the kitchen with raised brows. "Uh that's not how shelters work, Jay."
Jason pinches the bridge of his nose. "Well, can you give him back?"
"No."
"(Y/n), he's clearly not a guard dog," he says gruffly, trying to assess whether the dog has any brain cells. The dog yips and nudges at Jason's hand trying to get him to pet him.
“Princess, the only thing he's defending is a food bowl.”
“He’s perfect.”
Jason looks at you and I mean really looks at you.
"Well. Ok. He's not but I'm attached," you say with a pout.

Hi Father! I was wondering if you could discuss some of the ethics around voting. Is not voting sinful? Under what conditions does it vary in gravity? I've seen an argument that it can be mortally sinful - which was surprising - and it seems required by the fact it is "morally obligatory" according to CCC 2240.
It is not immoral not to vote–the popes actually required Catholics in Italy not to vote for the first fifty or so years of the Italian nation.
JD Flynn of the Catholic News Agency has a good summary of the USCCB’s guidance on voting here, helpfully parsing out how to vote in the context of the Church’s teaching on cooperation with evil:
https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/vwhat-does-the-catholic-church-teach-about-voting-a-cna-explainer-42585
The Church says first that it is always immoral to vote for a person who supports an intrinsically immoral policy, if the reason for the vote is to achieve that policy:
It is immoral to vote for someone who supports an intrinsically immoral policy with the intention to support that policy:
“A Catholic cannot vote for a candidate who favors a policy promoting an intrinsically evil act, such as abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, deliberately subjecting workers or the poor to subhuman living conditions, redefining marriage in ways that violate its essential meaning, or racist behavior, if the voter’s intent is to support that position.”
This would be formal cooperation in evil, and is a participation in the evil act. If someone were to vote for Joe Biden because he supports abortion, he or she would be cooperating in (i.e. morally responsible for) each of the hundreds of thousands of abortions that his policies would support around the world.
The article also points out that abortion has a special place in the way that U.S. Catholics must analyze their votes:
The U.S. bishops say that abortion has to weigh as an especially important factor when deciding whether it is morally acceptable to vote for a candidate.
In 2019, the bishops said that “The threat of abortion remains our preeminent priority because it directly attacks life itself, because it takes place within the sanctuary of the family, and because of the number of lives destroyed.”
…The Church does not say that abortion is the only issue, but that it is a “preeminent” or foundational consideration about the moral acceptability of a candidate.
