Once I was done with the textures, I decided to export the textures and the model into Unreal Engine 5. I was planning to light them in an environment at the end but I also wanted some shots of just the character in a blank level with manual lighting. This would help me showcase a bit of my lighting skills as well since the environment is going to be a downloaded one from the marketplace with lights already in it. Once I imported the model and the textures, I started setting up the materials within Unreal Engine 5 for each texture set. This way, if something minor was off like the roughness or metallic, I could adjust them within the material itself instead of having to go back to Substance Painter. Then I started to light my characters and for this I referred back to William Faucher and JHill’s YouTube videos that had helped me in the first semester. Since the level was blank I believed it would be better to go with lighting that showed the model’s strong points well. I used quite a lot of rectangular lights and some with different colors so that it wouldn’t be monotonous.
