For the wip askbox game, do you have anything in svsss?
I actually do!
I was writing a for a soulmate prompt, but didn't finish before the challenge deadline. @ladyteldra convinced me to ship Shen Jiu/Shang Qinghua, and I named the ship Scumplane (playing off of Cumplane) because I'm hilarious.
Hear me out, nonny: the dynamic is "✈️you wanna kiss me so bad it makes you look stupid 😏"/🎋"I want to kill you with my bare hands actually"😠
In this universe, a soulmate's kiss is an instant cure to most curses and sex pollen (incredibly relevant to the setting), so Shen Jiu is like "do I want to kiss you, no, is it better than FUCKING literally ANY of these fools, absolutely, come here" and that's so valid of him. Additionally I think ✈️ "I know all your secrets and I'm fond of you anyway" would turn SJ's brain inside out.
-
"Someone bring me Shen Qinghua at once."
"But, Shizun," Ning Yingying started, hesitantly.
"Did I stutter?" He fixed her with his coldest expression and she only lasted a few seconds before giving in.
"At once, Shizun." She demurred, and left him his dignity. He could hear her barking out orders to her shidìmèi as the door closed behind her.
It left Shen Qingqiu in the room alone. He poured a glass of water with shaking hands and forced himself to sip it in slow, measured amounts. His neck was red and feverish, leading down to his flushed chest, but it was the only physical tell of his condition. Layers and layers of robes hid the rest, immaculate as always-- as his position and integrity demanded.
It felt like hours before Shang Qinghua arrived, though of course it could not have been. He arrived flushed and out of breath, as though he'd ran. His face was uncharacteristically serious. Shen QQ caught his eyes lingering on the pink in the man's cheeks, the determined set of his mouth.
He forcibly looked away. Unfortunately, he did eventually have to return his gaze to his savior.
Equally unfortunate, he was able to see the moment Shang Qinghua realized what kind of situation this was. Urgent, yes, but not an emergency.
And no one was dying.
The rare seriousness faded from the man's features. He began to smile. His eyes sparkled, for fuck's sake.
Shen Jiu hated him with every fibre of his being. His jaw locked with the force of it, nostrils flaring. Asking for help was the bane of his existence and he went out of his way to ensure it happened as infrequently as possible. Scarcity did not make those few occasions any more bearable.
His normal method ("be as abrasive as possible until the invader of his space departed") did not work when he needed something from them, and couldn't even blackmail or or manipulate them into providing it-- preferably, of course, leaving them under the impression it had been their idea all along.
He avoided being indebted to anyone.
Shang Qinghua read the reluctance to force the words out on his face and apparently realized that the request would not come. That was almost worse.
"So, I heard you need something." The man said, leading and casual. Shen Jiu closed his eyes and counted, very slowly, to ten.
"I will string your intestines up on the rainbow bridge like festival lights." He hissed. Well, so much for restraint.
Infuriatingly, Shang Qinghua looked delighted.
"Gay Christmas," He said, which of course made no sense whatsoever. Then:
"Well, you could, but then you'd have to come up with an alternate solution to... your problem." His eyes flicked lower to the skin hidden by Shen Jiu's robes, and Shen Jiu's eyes narrowed.
He resisted the urge to cover himself, knowing damned well there were no physical indications of his "problem." His hands clenched on the edge of the low table to resist the urge to reach out.
"I'd rather jump off the bridge myself." He said acerbically. “As you well know."
“I do know that.” Shang Qinghua agreed. He stepped further into the room, adjusting his topmost robe. It was in the light blue of An Ding, embroidered and lined with silver to match his next layer. Shen Jiu had to forcibly move his eyes up from the man’s pulse.
Not for the first time, he found himself wishing he could spit venom. He drew himself more upright, straightening his spine, and used his most derisive tone to compensate for the lack.
“And yet,” He spoke, glaring acidically, “You still--”
Qinghua leaned down and kissed him.
The words died on his tongue, swallowed by heat. It swept through him in a wave, chasing the fever of the pollen. Shen Jiu made a small sound into it. Qinghua’s fingers hovered over his cheek, a guiding touch more featherlight than true contact, and for all his boldness he’d caught Shen Jiu’s mouth up in it chastely, sweetly.
It was enough to have Shen Jiu shake apart.
There was a terrible power in someone completely unafraid, of or for you. Qinghua pulled back slowly, brushing his thumb butterfly soft over Shen Jiu’s cheekbone where the red was already fading from his rushing blood.
“All better?” Qinghua asked, from scant inches away. His lips barely moved, the words an intimate murmur. The air between them was warm-- but not hot.
Shen Jiu closed his eyes in self defense and pretended it was to do a very thorough inspection of his own qi.
“Sufficient.” He said, quietly. “The pollen has run its course.”

Snake!
Suddenly Bruno kicked over the wicker basket he had brought into the motel room. The lid of the basket fell away, and in amongst the hay and rushes, a scaly form moved. Instinctively, the Dana Girls stepped back and their eyes widened in horror as the unmistakable shape of a venomous adder reared up from the spilled basket, its tail shaking and its tongue flicking in and out of its lipless mouth. Bruno the taxi driver leaned back on the wall, cigarette dangling from his mouth, and smirked. “Investigate that, ladies!” he sneered and laughed unpleasantly. Dark haired Louise looked around desperately, only to see Michael the desk clerk, looking into the room anxiously, but barring their path to escape and making no effort to help. Jean had been momentarily transfixed by the swaying and threatening motion of the reptile but then she burst into action. The blonde haired sister neatly jumped over the snake, the hem of her thigh length skirt actually brushing the small head of the creature, and ran towards the washbasin. The young detective reached down and emerged with a bottle of bleach, and in one deft motion, Jean doused the floor around the adder with the liquid. Almost immediately, the creature fled back into the safety of the basket, repelled by the smell of the cleaning fluid. Jean stood there, smiling in relief and breathing hard and looked up just in time to see Bruno advancing on her.
“Clever girl!” the taxi driver snarled and raised his hand to strike. Jean was ready however. Practiced in karate and jiu jitsu, the young woman caught her assailant by the wrist even as his arm swung towards her and twisted it hard behind his back. Bruno grunted with pain as Jean propelled the man forcefully into the motel room wall, winding him, and pinned him there. “Louise, quick! Stop the other fellow!” she yelled at her sister even as Michael sped from the scene. Louise gave chase and cornered the clerk at his own reception desk. “I’m sorry, miss…” the man babbled, “Bruno was blackmailing me. He made me procure the snake. I really don’t want to be involved!” The dark haired young woman bristled in indignation. “We could have been killed!” she retorted hotly. “So you are involved. You’re coming back to Room 11 with me!”
Later, back in the room, after tying both defeated men’s wrists behind them, binding their ankles together and then securing them back to back, the Dana Girls questioned their morose looking captives. “Now tell us everything you know about the God with the Winking Eye!” Jean demanded, her arms folded, while Bruno glared up at her balefully.
Tumblr media
“Something is not right about this, sis,” mused Louise. The relief of Zeus was indeed where Bruno had told them, the ruby winking in its one eye. “I think we have been sent on a wild goose chase.” She chipped at the red jewel with her screwdriver. “It’s plaster!” she concluded with sad satisfaction. “That’s why it’s here amongst the ruins in plain sight. Someone wanted us to find it to distract us from the real theft!” Jean frowned. “We need to get back to the hotel and question our prisoners again.” she said determinedly, referring to the two men they had left securely bound and gagged in their room, “We’ll teach them to make fools of us!”

Tumblr media
“Hey, Bora, if you’re coming home tonight, can you bring some takeout?”
The word ‘if’ echoes in Bora’s headphones as she stares at her phone screen. Siyeon said the word so offhandedly in her message, obviously used to her girlfriend’s constant absent and apparently unfazed by it, but it stops Bora herself right in the middle of the road as she listens to the message.
Honestly, her situation with Siyeon is... difficult. They’ve lived together for years, so they’re both used to having schedules that never match. To an outsider, the minimal amount of time that they actually spend together would be nothing short of a red flag, but neither Bora nor Siyeon think much of it.
There’s a certain comfort of knowing what waits for you at home, even if it is figurative most of the time. Bora has had the same emergency contact for years, and she always knows who to call if she has left something at home. She never has to call a babysitter, and whenever she gets hit on, she can say that she has a girlfriend of 5 years.
But maybe saying it like that sounds too much like a business contract.
The harsh reality is that the rare time she does spend with Siyeon is almost always filled with stilted silence, made awkward by two people both too exhausted to put effort into their relationship. And when it isn’t that suffocating silence between them, it’s anger, arguments that can be brought on by the most marginal mistaken word.
All of that culminates into the fact that Bora doesn’t really go home. Neither of them have the energy to actually talk things through, but neither of them want to let go of that familiar stability either. So they’re girlfriends by name, and nothing else in their hearts.
Bora supposes that it’s as much her fault as it is Siyeon’s.
“Yo, Bora!”
A smile prods the corner of her mouth up, and she pockets the phone. “Wassup, bro?” she calls sarcastically, accepting the overly enthusiastic fist-bump from you anyway. “Since when do you greet me with ‘yo’, especially when you’re about to ask for a ride home?”
You pout. “Is it that obvious?”
“You never come after me after work ends for any other reason, so, yes.” Bora opens the passenger side of her car for you anyway, spinning her keys around her index finger. There’s a hammered silver heart hanging off the other side with her and Siyeon’s initials.
“If you wanted my company more often, all you had to do is say so,” you sigh. As always, you reach for the aux and plug it into your phone. “Are we making any pit stops along the way? Because I’ll shoot you a coffee as payment if you want it.”
“Actually, I’m gonna pick up some takeout for me and Siyeon.”
“Oh. Cool.” You pick some song that you’ve played at least 10 times in the past week, but Bora doesn’t comment on it.
She can’t help but notice that her passenger’s seat bears more evidence of you sitting there than anyone else. The seat itself is adjusted to the way you like it, and you have a habit of leaving your phone in the exact same place on the dashboard, the only rectangle that isn’t covered in dust.
Bora isn’t actually sure about how Siyeon would adjust her seat, actually. Before she can stop herself, she asks you, “Hey, Y/N. What would you say is strictly necessary for a relationship to work?”
You glance at her, surprised. “Uh. Are you forgetting that I’m single?”
“I’m taking that as a sign that the date from last night didn’t go well?” When you shake your head, Bora sighs, “Sorry to bring it up, then.”
“No, no, it’s fine. We only went out like three times.” You lean back to think about the question, biting on your bottom lip as you do. It’s endearing. “I think... sacrifice.”
“Sacrifice? What, like Simba’s dad sacrifice?” Bora tries to joke.
You roll your eyes, “You watch too much Disney, dumbass. I mean like... taking pictures together because one person likes to, even if the other doesn’t. Alternating your favorite pastas, taking like one hour of work off each to have a date night. That kind of sacrifice.”
“Oh. I get it, I think.” Bora does understand it; she thinks about how often Yoohyeon misses a day of work, because she claims that one paycheck isn’t worth a missed anniversary. She thinks about how JiU does the pasta thing despite not really liking Yoohyeon’s favorite, and she thinks about how she and Siyeon never do that anymore. “Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
Bora gets out of the car to get takeout at one point, but she’s deep in thought for the rest of the ride home, even when you wave her goodbye at your own place. Sacrifice, huh?
She thinks that the only thing she sacrifices is her wallet.
Siyeon opens the door for her with a small smile, though, which makes Bora happy enough. Her girlfriend says, “I’m gonna guess you got Chinese?”
“Thai,” Bora shakes her head. The apartment is cold because Siyeon read somewhere that it helps you fall asleep faster, but Bora herself hates it. “I don’t eat Chinese food much anymore, remember?”
“Since when?” Siyeon frowns, locking the door behind her. “Last I remembered, your favorite food was those dumb little dumplings from the place down the street.”
“Last year, yeah. It doesn’t matter, though, let’s eat. What did you do today?”
It’s a boring question, but the other woman accepts it gratefully. “Uh, went to work early, but I got lunch with my mom.”
“Oh? How is she?” Bora questions, already spreading the takeout boxes all over the table. She hasn’t seen Siyeon’s mom in a while, but she misses the motherly figure.
Siyeon shrugs and reaches for her chopsticks. “She’s fine. She wants to know when we’re getting married.”
Bora’s heart stops, and not in the good way. She and Siyeon have talked about marriage before, but it was all in the honeymoon stage, when they first started dating years ago. “Oh? What did you tell her?”
Her girlfriend raises an eyebrow. “That we aren’t even engaged, obviously. Unless I missed an important conversation?”
“N- yeah.” Bora stuffs a shrimp in her mouth to quiet herself, at least for a little bit. It’s not that she doesn’t want to get married-- she just doesn’t want anything to change.
Of course, Siyeon doesn’t let her shock at the question go. “What?” she prods. “Is getting married that scary?”
“I mean... do you want us to get married?”
Siyeon hesitates at that. Eventually, she shakes her head in silence, and that’s enough of an answer.
There’s really nothing wrong with their relationship. But as Siyeon bids goodnight right after she finishes eating, and Bora remains in the living room, she thinks that there might not be anything right anymore either.
Tumblr media
Bora asks about the closest engagement ring store before she can stop herself, and you stare at her. “Are you two getting engaged?”
“No. Well, it’s complicated,” Bora sighs, turning right when her phone tells her to. “Siyeon’s mother wants us to get married, and I was thinking about what you were saying. It’s time to make some sacrifices.”
You stammer, “Th- that’s not really what I meant? I meant, like, take a day or two off work and get a vacation together, maybe talk things out for more than a minute? Not... proposing. Bora, I don’t...”
“Well, what would you do if you were in my shoes? Or, better yet--” Bora holds up a hand-- “what would you do if you were Siyeon? How would you deal with me, your girlfriend of 5 years?”
Suddenly, you feel like it’s 500 degrees in the car. But you answer, “I’d... I’d plan a trip. One of those cruises that offer dinners, and then I’d just try and talk with you. Bora, do you really think you’re in the right state to get married?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Bora questions. “We’re comfortable, you know. Siyeon got promoted a month ago, we make more than enough money to afford a wedding, and we’ve been together for so long, I don’t know anything without her.”
“I don’t mean financially,” you sigh. “I mean... do you think she’d say yes? Are you happy?”
‘Do you think she’d say yes?’ To be completely honest, Bora doesn’t know. She doesn’t even know what kind of a ring Siyeon would want, though she does know her ring size. She answers forcefully, “She will. I know it.”
“Okay.” You lean back, thumbs fiddling with your phone. “Bora? Would you mind dropping me off at work first? I don’t think I’ll be much help if I go with you.”
Bora nods. “Sure.”
Tumblr media
She ends up buying a simple ring with a blue stone, something that won’t really make a dent in either of their bank accounts, but will still be enough for Siyeon to show off. The box is a heavy weight in Bora’s pocket as she arrives home, quite a bit earlier than she normally does.
“Siyeon-ah?” she asks, rapping on the door as she pushes it open.
“Bora? You’re home early,” her girlfriend replies, turning from where she is at the sink. For some reason, Bora’s relieved that it’s all Siyeon does at home when she’s alone, though there’s no reason for her to suspect anything else. “Did you get off work early?”
“Uh, I took time off.” Bora sets her bag down and takes her jacket off, watching Siyeon open the fridge for something else. “I... remember when your mom asked when we’d get married?”
“Yeah. I remember that, why?” Siyeon silently hands her a glass of water.
Instead of saying anything else, Bora takes the box out of her pocket and pops it open before sliding it over the counter. Blue glints brilliantly under the kitchen’s lights, but even to her, it looks dull.
Siyeon glances at her in surprise, saying softly, “Bora... that’s not what I meant when I told you what she said.”
“Then what did you mean?”
The younger woman sighs, leaning against the counter with her arms crossed. “I. Look, aren’t we happy just as we are?”
A little bit of anger fires up in the pit of Bora’s stomach. It isn’t that she seriously wants to get married, or that it matters all that much that Siyeon doesn’t seem to, but she put in the effort. Like you had told her to, she made a sacrifice, and it hurts a bit that it doesn’t have the effect she wishes it did. “You tell me, Siyeon. Didn’t you tell me when we started dating that getting married was your goal?” Bora demands.
“I did, and that was 5 years ago,” Siyeon snaps back. “Why are you so hellbent on this, anyway? I thought you never wanted to get married.”
Bora hesitates, but she still ends up being honest. She answers quietly, “To make a relationship work, we have to make sacrifices.”
“Don’t--”
“Siyeon. Do you still love me?”
“Obviously! What kind of a question even is that?” Siyeon bites back, anger starting to furrow her eyebrows. Bora wishes she could say that it’s an unfamiliar sight, but it isn’t anymore. “Who told you all that sacrifice bullshit anyway?”
“Y/N, not that it matters.” Bora’s hands clutching tightly in her hair, she sighs, “Look, I got it wrong, okay? I’ll return the ring--”
Siyeon interrupts, “Bora, do you know why Y/N told you sacrifices make relationships work?”
When the older woman doesn’t respond, Siyeon just continues, “It’s because she’s the one making sacrifices. She understands what ‘sacrifices’ should be in a relationship, and it isn’t you buying an engagement ring when neither of us want to get married at all.”
“Look, I don’t want to talk about it right now, okay?” Bora snatches the box up from the counter and grabs her keys again. “I’m going out.”
“What, to talk to Y/N?” Bora turns to stare at Siyeon, who only stands there with crossed arms and the air that says she knows she’s right.
Bora doesn’t respond, but she does slam the front door after her a little too hard.
Tumblr media
Whenever she needs to talk to you, Bora takes advantage of the fact that you can always be found in one corner of the office. Unlike all your other coworkers, who like to roam and chat, you’re always in the same space, unless Bora drags you out.
And she does, slamming her palms down on either side of your desk. You don’t flinch, and she says lowly, “I need to talk to you.”
“Okay, but did you have to mess up my sticky notes?” you attempt to joke. Bora just grabs your wrist to tug you out of the office, leading you straight to her car without a word to anyone else. “Bora. Bora, what is this about?”
She takes a breath as soon as the two of you are sitting down, your eyes completely trained on her as she says, “Siyeon said something.”
“Oh. I’m assuming you aren’t engaged, then?”
“What- no. No, nothing close,” Bora sighs. “I tried making a sacrifice like you told me to, because I thought she wanted to get married. Spoiler, she doesn’t.”
You groan, placing your head in your hands. “Bora, that isn’t what I meant.”
Siyeon’s words about you understanding ‘sacrifice’ ring in the other woman’s head, but Bora stays silent and lets you continue, “Look, sacrifice in a relationship doesn’t mean literally sacrificing your own wants and stuff. It means accommodating the person you love, going out of your way to do nice things without doing damage to yourself.”
“Like you do?” Bora’s voice is soft, almost too soft for you to catch, but you do hear it.
And instead of an adverse reaction, instead of denying it, you nod. “Yeah.”
Silence fills the car, and you don’t dare to raise your head. “I’m sorry, Y/N. I don’t think I ever knew.”
“No, I know you didn’t.” You sigh and reach over to fiddle with the keychain you left on the passenger door handle. “I mean, you were so in love when we met. And now...”
“I’m not,” she finishes.
You shrug, “Well, that’s up to you to figure out. You’ve figured me out, anyway. And I’ve waited this long, I won’t blame you for whatever decision you do make.”
“What if you didn’t have to wait?”
Bora suddenly remembers the box sitting in her pocket, and digs it out. She doesn’t know if it’ll fit your finger, or if you’ll even like it, but it’s spontaneous, and Bora thinks it’s the way that things should be. “Take it,” she offers, “as a promise. I know what I have to do, but I want to promise to you that... I’ll come back to you. And I think I should promise that I’ll start loving you the way you’ve loved me.”
You take the box gently, and as light as it is, Bora feels a weight taken away. You’ve always had that effect on her, after all. “Okay. I accept your promise, and I’ll wait. For you.”
The ring is a little tight, and you put it on your pinky instead of the normal fingers, but it feels secure. It feels like Bora will keep her promise this time, to both her and you.

Day 1
Please make them shut up. Please.
I’m already way too far away, why do I still hear them? They only yell at me to get out of the band, there’s one too many people in there. The walls around me paint themselves in all the words that are written about me all over the internet, talentless, a nuisance, not enough. I already know that. But I was trying, I swear I was trying.
Now nobody will have to see my face again, I promise. But please make them shut up.
There was something wrong, a new comeback meant being able to see Insomnias, play in variety shows, performing on stage, all those things you really loved. But not this time, this time it was only you, staring at your broken reflection in the car window, wondering how the hell would the makeup artist was going to cover your swollen red eyes. Your dehydrated throat itched, and you had a water bottle within reach but you couldn’t see the point.
It didn’t matter how much you tried, how much you put yourself in practices until late at night. The truth was you were put late into the group, maybe it was that you were too young, but no amount of practice would be enough to put yourself on the level of professionalism and skill of your group mates. And there were people especially eager to remind you of that every day.
Across the chats on VLives, on fancams, even posts on Weverse to the point where you just ignored the app completely. As quick as the new comeback video was up, comments were already written, ‘Dreamcatcher is only 7, not 8’, ‘Y/n is not on the level of the rest, I don’t even know how they could dare put a rookie in an already established group.’ You knew that, you questioned that yourself since the very first moment they announced you as the 8th member.
The car came to a stop that made you exit your thoughts, coming to the realization that you were already parked outside of the Music Bank’s building. You put on your hoodie, placing your mask over your nose and picking up Siyeon’s bucket hat, thankful that she had left it in the back seat on her last ride. You tried covering as much as you could with your hair and clothes, so hopefully no one could see what a disaster you were.
“Y/n, it’s kind of hot outside,” JiU caught you trying to cover your entire self when she turned around to check on everybody. “Are you sure you-”
“I’m okay Unnie.” You cut her off, zipping the hoodie up as you placed the hood on top of your hat.
The rest of the girls in the van looked at each other concerned. They knew about the comments and even if you told them everyday that you were okay, they weren’t oblivious to how much you showed you weren’t.
One by one exited the car, being received by excited fansites taking their pictures. You halted at the sight of so many people between the entrance to the building and the van, your hands quivering as you felt your insides trembling. A warm hand touched your shoulder from behind, making you startled. You turned around to be received with Handong’s sweet smile and comforting eyes.
“Let’s go together,” She offered her hand as she exited the van before you. “Let’s be quick, the sun is hitting terribly today!”
Taking a deep sigh, you jumped out of the van with the help of your older member, feeling glad for all the layers on your outfit that prevented anyone from getting a clear sight of you. Your eyes refused to get away from the floor, while the members took their formation around you, blocking the view from you even further. Only then you dared looking up, catching a glimpse of the only fansite that you knew. She smiled at you gently, her eyes furrowing in concern. You offered her back a shy salute before lowering your sight again, keeping it on the floor as you kept walking.
Your ears were packed with cheers and screams of the people surrounding the entrance, making you a little uneasy. You wished you had put your airpods on, but at least this time wasn’t as bad as the last music show were-
“Dreamcatcher is seven!” You heard a scream coming out of the crowds. You had talked too soon. The shout was repeated from another side of the crowd, and then another time. Your eyes started stinging, your sight crystallizing while you felt Handong’s hand tighten her grip around yours. Yubin took your other hand in hers as everyone sped up their footsteps.
The managers around the group started herding the people away from the entrance, and in a few seconds, you found yourself inside, as the glass doors shut closed with your entire team following now inside the building. The shouts were muted in the distance, behind the doors. But not in your head. Those same people were going to watch you perform anyway, what was the point in hiding them.
Your team started heading towards the green room corresponding to your group, there was nothing else to do but follow them, but you were stopped when a hand took your wrist. You snapped free of the hand in defense, to then realize SuA was standing there, shocked.
“Y/n…” Only a whisper was able to come out of her mouth, with the other girls closing in on you. Your mind was already overwhelming you so much, and your member trying to gloss it all over was not helping either. You turned around, evading their gaze and catching up with the team.
You slouched over the couch, turning on your phone and playing some music once you found your airpods. One by one, the members entered the greenroom and you could feel their stare on you, but you tried drowning all sound from the outside. You used every ounce of energy left in your body from your badly spent nights on trying to contain the tears in your eyes, and you didn’t exactly pinpoint when, but as you leaned down on the couch, your consciousness floated away and you fell asleep.
Just like rewinding a tape, your mind took care of replaying the screams in your nightmares, getting louder and closer each second. The shouts closing in, forcing you between four walls made of glass that kept narrowing around you. You wanted to scream for help, but no sound came out of your mouth. The breath of the screams was so close you could feel it in the back of your neck, rattling your hair. A chill went down your spine as you hugged your knees close to your face to fit in the claustrophobic space. The strong sound of glass shattering welcomed silence, as you lifted your crying eyes. Your members all stood in a line in front of you. But there was something off about them. First it was Gahyeon, she opened her mouth but her voice didn’t sound like… her. You crawled towards them, trying to listen better.
“I was the maknae before you,” The bizarre Gahyeon screamed at you. “I am so much more deserving of that title!”
“Gahyeon Unnie-” You whispered, bringing your hands up to your mouth in shock.
“Your voice ain’t even that good,” Bizarre Yoohyeon screeched next. “How dare you think you could be at our level!”
One by one started launching these things at you, repeating them over, and over and over. That’s when you recognized them. All the comments you swore you had forgotten that you read on the comments sections. Or were they? What if this was the way your members really felt about you? What if...
“Oh, Y/n...” Bizarre JiU kneeled before you, an eerie smirk appearing on her face as her hand reached for your chin. “Everything Dreamcatcher could have been…”
“IF IT WASN’T FOR YOU!” All the girls shouted in unison, launching your body backwards.
You snapped up from the couch, your breathing heavy as if a thousand pounds pressed against your chest, your eyes were flooding with tears as your hands tried reaching for something or someone, anyone around. But you were alone. The greenroom was empty and silent except for you and your heavy panting.
With your foggied mind, you grabbed another jacket that was left in the room, your phone and your bag. You sprinted towards the door and to the hallways, your group’s comeback song was playing in the distance, the heavy bass resonating across the walls. You halted your steps, wondering if you could turn back and join them in the rehearsal.
If they wanted you with them, they could have woken you up. They’re already rehearsing for when you’re not around. They don’t need you!
A voice you didn’t recognize crammed your brain. You hold up your head, trying to get it out, but it kept repeating the last part over and over again. Your feet tried outrunning the voice, racing across the hallways as tear after tear caressed your cheeks after bursting free from your eyes.
The sun rays hurt your swollen eyes when you busted the emergency exit from the back alley open. You covered them with your hat as your feet kept trying to outrun the voices in your head. To no avail, just like your dream, they were just getting closer and closer and closer.
You ran as far as your feet and legs allowed you, crashing against the pavement from exhaustion. Your eyes scanned your surroundings, but recognized absolutely nothing. The area seemed calm, not a car or person passing around in the eternal time that it felt you were down in the ground. You caught a glimpse of an ally beside you, leading to a public restroom, where the sun didn’t hit you directly. That’s how you found yourself here, alone, snuggled in the cold corner of a deserted alley.
You were lost, and… for once, you were not sure if you wanted to be found.
Day 2
I was finally able to sleep, my body was way too tired, and my back hurts from the stiff and cold ground I fell asleep in. I also have finally stopped crying, but my eyes and my throat are so swollen and dry. My phone has been dead for hours already. It’s definitely easier than declining every call and resisting the urge to check social media.
All those voices are still there, but at least they’re not shouting anymore.

Day 3
It has been so quiet, nothing but the creeks of the rusty doors and the occasional car passing by. I’m starting to miss their voices. Laughing with Yoohyeon and Gahyeon Unnies, Bora and Siyeon Unnies always exist so loudly. I miss quietly hanging around Yubin and Handong, even being nagged by Minji Unnie. Now I cry at the thought of them, I love them but that’s why it’s best for me not to keep ruining their lives. They’re better without me...
“It doesn’t even ring anymore,” Siyeon angrily tossed her phone at the wall, desperate. “It just sends you straight to voicemail.”
“No no no,” JiU barged in, her eyes full of worry as she walked from one side to the other in the Inkigayo green room. “We can’t give up, there must be something else we can do.”
“We have done everything possible in our hands to help...” Gahyeon caressed a plushie in her hands, one you had gifted her on her birthday a year before. “But I really wish we could do more.”
“How did we allow this to come so far?” JiU threw her body weight into the couch, her eyes crystallizing as she rested her head in her hands. “Why did it have to come to this? If only I had-”
“Unnie, don’t blame yourself.” Yoohyeon sat besides JiU, surrounding her with her arms.
"Why did I let this happen? I knew she wasn't okay and we couldn't reach her." JiU kept pushing the blame on to herself, the tears flowing more freely through her cheeks. "I was supposed to take care of her and I… Failed."
"We all failed." Handong muttered from the corner, hugging her knees. "She was our little maknae, and we didn't realize how much of this was hurting her."
"I don't understand…" Yoohyeon was next, caressing her leader's back as she spoke. "She can rap, sing, dance. She's an ace of her generation. She practiced day and night, everywhere…"
"She must be cold, alone…" SuA broke in, cleaning away a tear from her chin. “She even left her favorite blanket at home, I folded it for her just in case-"
SuA couldn't continue talking as the knot in her throat tightened with each word.
Three days ago after finishing their rehearsal on Music Bank, the girls went back to the greenroom, hoping to catch a glimpse of you still sound asleep cuddled up in blankets they gently put on top of you, just like they had left you, deciding you knew the moves and camera drills enough to be able to sit down this rehearsal. As your roommates, SuA and Yoohyeon knew you spent restless nights, silently sobbing on top of your bunk bed, so they allowed you to rest what you needed to rest before the presentation.
But when they opened the door, you weren’t anywhere to be seen. Keeping calm they searched in the bathroom, the change rooms and even in the closets, remembering your habit of hiding to scare them later. But you weren’t there. The managers went out of the room to search for you all around the building. But you weren’t there. Everyone tried calling your phone but to no answer, your bag and jackets were nowhere to be seen. Time was running out, with the managers frantically trying to search for you everywhere, the girls buried their hands in the makeup chair as they spent every second trying to reason your whereabouts. With only five minutes before going into stage and still no sign of you, the company had to tell the public that you would be sitting out the promotions for health reasons, only to not panic the fans.
They had to continue their activities without you, and by night when still nobody knew anything of you, the company filed a missing report, and a search for you began. The girls had to endure every presentation with a straight face, but each one kept wearing their hearts, your absence clearer day by day.
“We must try and remain positive.” Siyeon tried breaking the ice, cleaning more tears from SuA’s cheeks. “We’ll find Y/n, and then Dreamcatcher we’ll be complete again.”
“But what if she doesn’t want to come back?” Yubin, who since your disappearance had remained silent except for their forced schedules, finally dared speaking, making everyone snap their faces to her.
“Yubin…” Siyeon muttered.
“It’s just that,” She continued talking, with all the girls glued to her words. “Even we were hesitant at the idea of adding an eighth member. If she didn’t feel completely welcome somewhere, why would she stay where people keep hurting her?”
“But Insomnias love her!” Gahyeon remarked.
“But the ones that don’t are always louder,” Yubin continued. “And we did nothing to stop them, almost as if our silence agreed with them.”
“What are you saying-”
“I’m saying we didn’t do enough in time,” She stood up from her chair, enraged. “And pretending in front of everyone that it didn’t have any consequences it’s even worse. Y/n didn’t catch a mild cold, Y/n’s gone.”
Her last words bounced on the walls like an echo that consumed their minds little by little. They knew Dami was right.
An strenuous fear invaded their bodies at once, one that repeated over and over that it was too late to get to you. That they could have prevented this by calling out those people bringing you down, it's not like they hadn't done it before.
What use did it have to have songs all about stopping the hate and standing up for each other when they were the first ones that failed their own promise.
The silence was broken when a manager opened the door, with his head down, wary of intruding the girl’s space. The girls jumped from their place, startled, hesitant.
“Any news?” JiU stroke away a tear falling from her eye.
“Not yet, I’m so sorry.” The manager shook his head apologetic. JiU buried her hands on her face, dwelling on the heaviest silence surrounding the girls. The manager took a big sigh before continuing the message he was sent to deliver. “They’re waiting for you at the stage for rehearsal ladies, I can tell them you’ll be on your way in a moment-”
“We’re on our way…” SuA, after finishing an entire box of tissues was the first to stand up, fixing her clothes and rubbing her eyes.
Perplexed, the rest of the girls followed close. The halls silent as they traveled through them only allowed them to keep thinking about you. You who aside SuA would already be racing each other to the stage. Or maybe gossiping in the back with Gahyeon and Yoohyeon. Riding on the back of Siyeon or talking with Yubin about the latest book you read. Maybe asking JiU and Handong for advice on something about life. But your cheery, youthful voice was nowhere to be found and all the girls walked separately, their eyes fixated on the floor.
The girls arrived at the stage, with the crew waiting for them to take their places. As usual, they introduced the group to the people working with them.
“Dream of me! Hello, we are Dreamcatcher!” They chorused together, aligned by age. Each one of them introduced themselves, one after the other. Gahyeon was last, but everyone remained silent, leaving the space for your name, a certain hope they could at least faintly hear you calling it. But there was only silence that cut like a knife through them.
“Thank you for your hard work!” JiU swallowed heavily as each one of them took their places to start the choreography. There was a cold space between Siyeon and Yoohyeon left for you, and they could not stop looking at it, worried they might miss the moment you arrived to fill it.
The director called for the song to start, all the camera crew ready to go through the drill. The first beats started, the girls swiftly moving with the bass, hitting each count. But their eyes could focus correctly, always glancing to where you would be standing, a faint desire to catch your silhouette moving aside them, all of this just being a bad dream.
The girls each sang their part accordingly. But it was too much for SuA to handle when she was assigned to sing your parts. The dancing machine tripped on her own feet, falling on the floor in tears. All the girls ran to her aid, Gahyeon surrounding her with her arms as she couldn’t contain her tears either.
The director called for the music to stop, as managers rushed to surround them, some of them tearing up at the sight of the hopeless girls in front of them.
“This was her song!” SuA sobbed. “She wrote this song with a smile on her face and they took that away from her!”
The words coming out of the older girl made everyone without fault start shedding tears. They couldn’t continue like this, not without you.
Day 4
The days are getting even colder, and I’ve finally dared to look at the mirror. I even had forgotten that I still had makeup on, it’s all smudged on my pale, thin face. I managed to get most of it off, but my bare face didn’t look any better. There’s still swelling in my eyes, dark deep circles around them. My lips border the color purple and I can’t stop shivering. It doesn’t help that now I’m missing my member’s hugs…

Day 5
With my bare face and my body in such a bad condition I don’t think anybody could recognize me out. There’s still some money on my wallet, maybe I’ll go buy some food at the corner store later. I should also start looking for another place to sleep, and someday, maybe someday I’ll have the guts to go back to the girls and explain everything. For now, even though I’m thankful for everything that I spent with them, I’ll root for them from afar.
A few of the first rays of sun from the day traveled through the only high window in the room landing in your face, a warm morning kiss from the universe. You moaned as you stretched your sore limbs across the cold floor, lingering on the dryness of your mouth, before painfully reincorporating up. Your swollen eyes adjusted to the dim light of the room, carefully scanning their surroundings. Bird chirps with a light breeze ruffling the trees outside joined your heartbeat as the only things you could listen to. Settling with a sigh, you rested your back on the wall behind you, staying there for a few seconds that seemed a good amount of minutes for you.
A growl trembled through your body, emerging from your stomach. You reached for your bag, searching to see if there was anything left to satisfy your appetite, only able to get out a bunch of empty wrappers.
“Great, half a protein bar.” You unwrapped the piece of food, aggressively munching on it. You turned around to get your water bottle, unfortunately discovering it was empty too. “Ah, crap.”
You got your wallet out of your bag, carefully exploring it. You had enough money left to buy some stuff from the corner store, with some extra left. Carefully, you stood up, gathering all the strength from your aching body. Approaching the mirror, you opened the faucet and splashed your face with a bit of cold water. For once, you recognized your reflection, faintly smiling at it.
You grabbed your things, putting all your jackets on, your mask over your nose. You stared at Siyeon’s bucket hat, while a flood of bittersweet memories invaded your mind. You put it on, a soft feeling of protection emanating from it. After hanging your bag from your shoulder and checking your dead phone was there you faced the door, and opened it with a sigh, ready to explore your whereabouts.
You walked the length of the alley to the street, warily scanning your surroundings. Traveling through the little street that seemed like an alley in itself, with only a one way path for one car to fit, not more than ten of them passed around in the day, you knew that because you counted them on your 4th day. A fairly quiet oasis in the frantic city that was Seoul, you were surprised you haven’t crossed paths with another human in that window of time.
Recalling your time here, there were some voices that you sometimes listened to in the distance through the window in the room you hid. A couple of women of what you assumed were around 50 or 60, always gossiping about the latest stuff their families were up to; a group of children always shouting and playing ball on their way back home from school and a man that whistled always the same songs as he walked past the allie.
You got to the corner, a little more city activity visible down the road. Across the street, a little convenience store sat open, the only visible person there was the owner, reading the newspaper with a Tv turned on in the news channel behind him. After checking the street for cars, you crossed, opening the door to the store. The owner lowered the newspaper to catch a glimpse of you, glancing from head to toe. Startled at your first human interaction since your escape, you politely bowed after taking a basket and then continued your way through the aisles of the store in silence.
Carefully listening to the news in the back to know what the world had been into while you isolated yourself, you put in the basket some packs of ramen and chips, before moving towards the beverage aisle. You picked up a large bottle, enough to last about three days if you rationed it fair enough. You traveled through the sweets aisle looking for something to treat yourself when your ears picked something from the TV that made a shiver travel through your spine.
“On entertainment news, DreamCatcher has decided to sit out promotions of their new comeback at least until there are news of the whereabouts of their youngest member.” The news anchor seriously remarked, you discreetly leaned closer to where the TV was, eager to listen more. “The police have been looking for her nonstop for five days now, and morale is low but the group isn’t giving up yet.”
You couldn’t contain a gasp escaping your mouth at the mention of your members, listening even more mindfully to the TV.
“The video uploaded to Dreamcatcher’s channel calling for everyone’s help in the search of information for Y/n location has been going viral all around Korea,” You turned to face the TV, an image of your members tired, with their eyes swollen. “It has also been used as another unfortunate example of what unwarranted harmful comments can do to people. With thousands of their fans and other artists standing up against harassment in her name.”
The TV drew you closer as a magnet towards itself, as the program continued.
“We can appreciate in the video that the members themselves cannot contain their tears, with members SuA and Gahyeon not talking at all while trying to swallow tears. As a strong leader JiU carries the video, calling for all hands on deck in this search.” The anchor reviewed their notes, releasing a clearly upset sigh. “We can only urge you to help in the search, and wish for the best possible outcome of this situation. We are all hoping for the best for this talented young lady.”
The program continued towards other news, leaving you there breathless. People out there, not only your members or fans, but a whole nation was out there looking for you. You swallowed the tears and bravely approached the counter.
“Excuse me sir,” You lowered your voice as much as you could, trying to make yourself unrecognizable. The man closed his newspaper aggressively, laying it on the counter, his eyes piercing through your conscience. “I- I couldn’t help myself, listening to the TV right now, do you know what happened to Dreamcatcher’s maknae?”
“Young lady,” The man’s voice sounded surprisingly tender, relief traveling in your body when he didn’t realize your true identity. “Where have you been lately? It’s been all over the news.”
“I-” You gulped, looking for an excuse. “I was studying hard for exams Sir.”
“Fair enough. Good luck on those.” He stood up from his chair and approached the counter, a faint smell of tobacco accompanying him. “Dreamcatcher’s maknae has been missing for about five days now. It’s believed she escaped because of the hate she got, the company even took legal actions against the people making the most damage.”
“Huh-”
“Police have been searching every corner they can, boats already deployed on the Han river in case she… You know. But it’s been so long that faith has been wearing off, everyone is praying for a miracle, for her to be found alive,” He lowered his sight, fidgeting his hands on the counter. Your breath halted at his last words, your heart sinking in your chest as your tears were almost uncontainable. “Such a shame, my grandkid loves the group and she has been crying non-stop since the news broke out. I could see she had great potential.”
“She- she did?” You dared raising your eyes, surprised at the owner’s words.
“She really did.”
A tense silence took over your body, with a thousand ideas floating around in your brain. But there was one that took over all the others quickly enough. You only put the bag of chips and the bottle on the counter, getting your wallet out of your bag.
“I’m just going to need these two sir,” You mumbled as the owner scanned each item, bringing you the total amount to pay. “And a favor.”
“What would that favor be, young lady?” He answered as he counted the cash you handed to him, attentively handing you your items.
“Can you please call me a taxi?”
- - - - - - - - - -
The girls sat in silence on their dorm, their eyes filled with dark circles around following their sleepless nights worrying for you, the TV was full of news programs in the morning and they decided to ignore them since they only drilled them with your absence and the reminder that even the most professional teams searching for you could not locate you was pretty discouraging.
“What if we never find her?” JiU was the first to burst into tears again, the biggest toll falling on her shoulders as she spent day and night on the sofa facing their dorm’s front door. Tears were common already as they couldn’t help but having their minds be filled with ideas they didn’t even want to explore.
Silence filled the air, making everyone turn their heads towards Yoohyeon and Siyeon, they had repeatedly answered everything negative the girls cried with encouragement. But on the dawn of the fifth day, they didn’t feel like raising the group morale when not even them felt so certain about the future either.
“I- don’t know.” Were the only words coming out of Siyeon’s mouth as a mumble, making all the other girls start tearing up again.
Swallowed sobs reigned the air until a soft hum stood out. Yubin’s gentle singing filled the air, the other girls recognizing the song immediately. Your song. One by one the other girls joined her, harmoniously swelling their surroundings with a much needed drop of hope for their soul. As the song continued, each one of them cuddled towards each other, seeking the warmth and comfort of their arms. A silent promise to deliver this and so much more to you if you ever came back.
The song was arriving to their end, as silent once again reigned the room when a sigh from the leader broke through. JiU caressed the backs of the girls surrounding her,
“We’ll wait for her the time that we need too-”
A knock in the door startled all the girls, making them jump to their feet. Conflicting emotions swirling around them. It could be a manager, asking them about activities details, a police officer coming to deliver bad news or maybe…
Handong was the first brave soul to open the door, bracing for whatever good or bad news was standing behind it.
You stood there, rigid and nervous, your fists clenching your arms for dear life as the light of the room illuminated your silhouette. She recognized your figure immediately, with only the shock of the moment preventing her from moving either.
“Y/n?...” She whispered as a first reflex.
“I’m sorry.” You answered back, trembling. “I’m so sorry-”
You felt your hand being pulled into the room, with the weight of her body slamming against yours, followed by the screams and cries of the rest of the girls approaching.
“You don’t have to be sorry.” JiU cried as the group hug got tighter around you.
“Welcome back home” SuA continued, her tears dampening your shoulder.
Every evil thought banished away from your mind when the familiar smell and warmth of your members surrounded you. A thousand attacks and insults could be headed your way, but it didn’t matter in the moment, a safety blanket protecting you in the form of the best people you had ever met in your life, it didn’t cross your mind to ever let them go, and they would never let you feel alone ever again. The promise beating hard in each of your hearts.

[ PART OF MY JUNGKOOK BIRTHDAY DRABBLE GAME ]
While standing in line at the check-out counter, Jungkook examined the oranges he’d picked out in his basket. Idly, he recalled Minutia saying the color orange came after the fruit, not before. She loved to spout factoids like that; Jungkook did a pretty good job of tuning her out, but her random facts always seemed to stick in his head.
Minutia was the superhero Jungkook was assigned to as handler. She was fairly loud, fairly opinionated and fairly dedicated to kicking people’s ass on the regular.
She’d mentioned the orange fact when ISA – International Superhero Agency – had recommended Minutia change her superhero suit color to orange. She’d felt very strongly about this and in the end, Minutia had won.
Usually, she did.
Realizing the line before him had moved, Jungkook took a step forward. No longer distracted by thoughts of the color orange, he took the opportunity to scan the grocery store around him.
It was a habit of his – an unfortunate side effect of both his job and the knowledge which came from it. After high school, Jungkook attended an elite military academy on the east coast, but it only took six months before ISA found him.
He’d been out for a morning run when two men in suits cornered him for what they called an opportunity. They’d explained about a different path than the military; an alternative from merely serving his country. Both agent and handlers at ISA held no national loyalty – they merely protected civilians from absolute evil.
Barely had the offer left their mouths before Jungkook accepted.
Of course, Jungkook learned soon after superhero handlers were little more than baby-sitters, but that was beside the point. He genuinely cared about Minutia and knew the work they did together was important – even if his position kind of sucked, since Jungkook was more than capable of defending himself.
Handlers were required to be proficient in various martial arts; they often trained the newbie superheroes who arrived at the Agency. Jungkook was a ninth-degree black belt in Taekwondo, a red belt in Jiu Jitsu and a tenth-degree black belt in Judo. He also had a blue belt in Krav Maga, but this had more to do with lack of time than capability. Jungkook could assemble and disassemble most weapons in the time it took most people to fire them, but all that meant nothing in the face of superpowers.
Minutia could simply freeze Jungkook and kill him if she wanted to; he’d never see it coming.
Not that Minutia would kill him, of course. Stifling the image, Jungkook moved up in line. His super was relentlessly moral, even if she had some rough edges and enjoyed pushing boundaries.
It was the rest who worried Jungkook, like the supervillains they fought. Aided by supernatural powers, supervillains were capable of great destruction. It was the main reason Jungkook stayed at his job – if anyone stood a chance against supervillains, it was superheroes.
“Bag?”
Surprised, Jungkook looked up. “Huh?”
“Bag,” the cashier girl repeated, rolling her eyes. “Do you want a bag?”
“Oh – no.” Jungkook shook his head. “I have my own. I –”
An explosion rocked the street outside, shattering the windows in a hailstorm of glass.
On instinct, Jungkook dove to protect the rude cashier with his body. There was bulletproof lining beneath his clothes, for which he was grateful. He’d just come from shooting practice at Headquarters and hadn’t had a chance to change out of his gear.
Glass harmlessly bounced off his torso, although a few shards sliced his face, leaving blood as he winced. Reaching up to grip counter, Jungkook surveyed the damage.
All the windows of the supermarket had been blown in. The blast seemed to have originated from the street – at least, Jungkook assumed this based on the direction of people running.
“Stay down!” he yelled, and launched himself over the counter.
People obeyed, crawling towards the store’s interior aisles. Jungkook hoped there was a door in the back, otherwise they’d trap themselves like fish in a barrel. He wasn’t surprised when people followed his command. People tended to respond positively to authority in times of chaos.
Yanking a Glock from his jacket, Jungkook dashed from the store. Cocking his head to one side, he surveyed the street for danger.
There – at the end of the block, he saw a cloud of dust settling.
Keeping his gun steady, Jungkook rushed towards the scene. Halfway there, he realized he’d left his groceries behind and nearly groaned. Oh, well, it couldn’t be helped. Such was the life of superheroes and handlers.
As though in response to his thought, someone emerged from the chaos.
Only one person; tall, with hulking muscles and what looked to be three arms. Nope, wait – that was machine gun. Fuck.
Jungkook lunged to the side as the man opened fire. Luckily, much of the street was deserted from the blast and few people were hurt. Propping himself up on one knee, Jungkook squinted from behind an overturned car and fired.
Five shots, each in quick succession aimed at the man’s torso. Three of them hit, sending the man to his knees, only for him to snarl, his gaze snapping upwards.
Jungkook watched in horror as the bullet wounds began to heal, pushing metal from flesh with alarming speed.
Of fucking course, he was a supervillain.
Flipping around, Jungkook pressed his back to the car and considered his options. He should call for Minutia, or another super – teeth gritted, Jungkook pushed this option aside. He could do this on his own; this was a fight he could win.
Winning against rejuvenation wasn’t unheard of for someone like him. It meant his opponent healed abnormally fast from their injuries, but they could be overwhelmed if Jungkook kept up momentum.
Before he could finish this thought, the car Jungkook sat against flipped overhead.
Eyes wide, Jungkook watched it crash and roll down the street. A small crowd darted away as they screamed and Jungkook stifled an eye roll. Civilians were so predictable. They never got out of the way like they should; instead, they pressed closer and tried to video it all on their cell phones.
Twisting around, Jungkook found the supervillain grinning at him while he flexed a muscle.
The machine gun lay discarded in a pile of rubble. Jungkook’s heart sank, since it meant the villain was out of ammo, which likely meant he’d been using it in other locations.
When the villain wrenched a storm grate from the ground, Jungkook came to his senses. Survival was priority number one. Fighting someone with only rejuvenation would’ve been hard enough; it would be near impossible to fight someone with rejuvenation and strength.
Rolling away, Jungkook managed to escape said trajectory of the grate.
Metal smashed into the space he’d just occupied, leaving a human-sized dent in the pavement. Flipping himself upwards, Jungkook shot as he moved. This was a move best left to the movies, unless you happened to be an obsessed-with-video-games-superhero-handler trained in four different kinds of martial arts.
Jungkook was just that.
“Catch me if you can!” he yelled, taking off down the street.
He zig-zagged as he moved, craning his neck to peer overhead. The new plan was: keep the villain’s attention on Jungkook until help arrived, which wouldn’t be long. Given the immediacy of the destruction, ISA would likely dispatch someone with the ability to fly.
All he had to do was stay alive until then. Smirking a little, Jungkook dug in his heel and spun around.
Luckily, he had a few tricks up his sleeve.
Pushing up the sleeve of his jacket, Jungkook waited until the villain was within fifteen feet, then pressed a button. 70 mA of electrical current shot out from his wrist, arcing with blue-white light to hit the villain in the chest. A product created by Namjoon, otherwise known as the superhero, Brainblast.
The volt was enough to stun or kill any other man, but the villain simply gasped and sunk to his knees.
He writhed for a moment, clawing at skin which simultaneously burned and healed. The distraction was all Jungkook needed to run, aiming his gun and – someone swooped down to blast the villain back with air.
A smirk on your face, you lowered both hands to your sides.
Jungkook skidded to a stop. Your superhero alias, Zephyr, was one of the most popular superheroes on the face of the planet. Intelligent, formidable, and rated a seven on the ISA power scale, despite only having one superpower: control over the air and winds.
You were also ridiculously hot; Jungkook had harbored a crush on you for years.
He still remembered the day you arrived at the Agency. Higher-ups said Zephyr (the Greek god of the west wind) was traditionally a male name and wouldn’t make sense to serve as your moniker. You’d said to fuck off and written it down anyways.
This memory made Jungkook smile, even as you sent another wave of wind down the street. Shaking his head, he pulled himself back to reality.
Hovering a few feet off the ground, wind whipped at your hair. You’d explained to him once you didn’t really fly – it was more the wind currents obeyed your commands and took you where you needed to go. Jungkook didn’t really get the difference, but he couldn’t deny you looked badass doing it.
While the villain struggled to stand, you glanced down at Jungkook.
“You alright?” you asked, concern evident in your voice.
Jungkook tried not to frown. “I’m fine,” he said, despite the disheveled state of his hair and clothes. “I had him, you know.”
“Right.” Your expression turned dubious. “It’s just that –”
You were cut off by said villain throwing a car at your head, which you managed to stop with a thrust of your hand. The winds obeyed your command, wrapping around the car to set off to one side.
Gaze narrowed, you rose even higher. “It’s not that you’re not capable!” You yelled to be heard over the wind. “But –”
A sewer grate flew through the air and, without turning, Jungkook shot it down from the sky. Pieces rained around them like confetti.
You stared at him, wide-eyed. “Right.” Sheepish, you smiled. “Just keep doing that. Distract him and I’ll try to knock him out. Keep him alive, though!”
Jungkook nodded, giving a grim smile before moving forward.
He broke into a run, alarmed by how fast the villain seemed to heal. Even if two supers had the same power, they tended to vary in intensity. This villain must be rated high even without his super strength.
The device on Jungkook’s arm wouldn’t recharge for another five minutes, so he relied on his gun to keep the villain occupied. A shot to the kneecap; another to his shoulder. Keeping your words in mind, Jungkook tried not to hit anything vital. Even rejuvenation might not be enough to heal the man if he shot him in the heart.
High above, you flew gracefully upwards. Jungkook nearly stopped to stare; you arced through the sky like a dancer, claiming the winds as though you owned them. Caressing the breeze with one hand, you turned around and – fuck.
Jungkook had let himself get distracted. Swearing aloud, he dove behind the nearest car and heard something shatter.
Rolling to the other side, he propped himself up on one knee and shot. The villain yelped, stumbling forward as the bullet hit his elbow.
This time, it took greater concentration for metal to be squeezed from his skin. The villain panted as he stood, clearly winded and Jungkook’s heart leapt, realizing they’d tired him out.
This turned out to be the opening you needed.
Swooping down, you reached out a hand, and – wind whipping about like a force field – slowly closed your palm.
The villain gasped, his eyes going wide as he clutched his throat.
Shakily, Jungkook pushed himself upwards to stand.
One of the most dangerous powers associated with air manipulation was creating a vacuum. You achieved this by removing the air entirely; a feat which required great skill and concentration.
It only took a few minutes for the man to be so deprived of oxygen, his eyes rolled backwards. His legs wavered a second, then he slumped to the ground.
“Saoirse!” you yelled, floating down. “Cuffs!”
A woman with red hair – your handler, Jungkook presumed – ran from the nearest subway station to quickly cuff the man’s hands behind his back. Jungkook could see the moment the villain’s power drained from his limbs.
Standing before them, you watched, although it seemed to pain you.
Picking his way through the wreckage, Jungkook came to a stop by your side. Glancing your way, he noticed the breeze continue to play with your hair, as though it couldn’t bear to be parted for long.
“Do you ever wonder what this does to us?”
Confused by your question, Jungkook blinked. “What do you mean?”
“This,” you said, waving a hand at the wreckage. In the distance, Jungkook could hear sirens screaming. “All the death, the destruction… even the people on the other side. Does it ever hurt you sometimes?”
Jungkook stared at you for a moment, unsure how to respond.
Truthfully, it did bother him when he saw himself in the villains they faced. Sometimes he was fighting genuine evil, but occasionally the villains had reasonable grievances – worse, sometimes they’d merely been raised to see the ISA as evil.
Jungkook couldn’t bring himself to hate those kinds of villains and yes, it did hurt when he took them out.
Sensing his hesitance, your shoulders slumped. Jungkook’s stomach twisted, wanting to fix whatever it was you were feeling. He hesitated, wanting to say you weren’t alone.
“Never mind,” you said, managing to smile. “Another bad guy defeated, right?”
“Right.” Jungkook’s gaze remained upon yours. “I guess.”
Before you could say anything more, Saoirse called your name.
“Guess I should go,” you said, rising into the air. When you glanced his way, Jungkook found himself wondering what you were thinking. “I… thanks for helping today, Jungkook.”
“Anytime.”
This time when he smiled at you, it was genuine.
You rose another few feet, then hesitated. “It’s been awhile since I came by the training arena, huh?”
Jungkook shrugged, as though he hadn’t noticed, but he had. Of course, he had.
“You’re still the one they’ve got training the new recruits?”
“Yep,”
“Hm.” A small smile crossed your lips. “Maybe I should stop by. Show the newbies how it’s done. We could work up a sweat.”
Jungkook’s heart nearly stopped when you dropped him a wink. Before he could speak, you rose further into the air.
“Bye, Jungkook!” you called, and zipped off down the street.
The sound of your voice faded into the sounds of the city and Jungkook stood there another moment before coming to his senses. His phone began to ring in his pocket.
Fumbling for the device, he sighed when he saw the name on the ID.
“Hello?” he said, lifting the phone to his ear.
“YOU’RE ALIVE.”
Wincing, he held the phone further away. “Minutia?”
“Who else would it be? Of course, it’s me, you idiot! I had just gotten my morning coffee and was passing that pizza place when I happen to catch a glimpse of the TV – and what do I see? You, fighting a fucking supervillain alone!”
“I wasn’t alone,” Jungkook shot back.
“Yeah, those cowering civilians looked real intimidating.”
“Zephyr showed up at the end, it was fine.”
“Oh,” she said, somewhat mollified. “Alright, then. She’s cool. But seriously, JK – be more careful, would you? I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Pulling his hand away, Jungkook squinted at the receiver. “Huh?” he said, returning the device to his ear.
“Yeah, who’d pick up my dry cleaning?”
“Bye,” Jungkook grunted, and hung up the phone.
Still, he smiled as he turned to walk down the street. People stared as he passed, pointing and whispering about the state of his clothes. Jungkook heard the word super being muttered, although he didn’t bother to correct them.
He was too busy turning your words over again in his mind. Does it ever hurt you sometimes?
The truth was it did. All the time.
He just didn’t know if there existed a better path than the one he was on.

⛽️ 🔥 FIRE AND GASOLINE 🔥⛽️ (PART 1?)
Prompt: Y/N’s life has changed drastically, precisely 10 years ago and all because of an adorable lunatic and two little maniacs. But what will happen when a divergency of thoughts leads Y/N and her lunatic to say some pretty harsh words, that they know they will regret it later?
Word count: Maybe too long?
Pairing: Jon Moxley (or even Dean Ambrose if that’s your liking) x Reader
Warnings: For now, just some cursing and angst
Notes: His time has finally arrived and I couldn’t be more nervous about it! This goes out to my sincerely unhealthy love for Jon Moxley and my mixed feelings about having kids (sounds like a good match right?). Y’all know the drill loves, sorry for misspellings, english isn’t my first language (bla bla bla),check out my other stories if you’d like to(it would make your girl here very happy 😊) and if you’re comfortable with it,please let me know what you think? Some feedback is always welcomed and appreciated ❤️You can check out my other stories typing ‘masochist writes’ on the search bar on my page and my newest story as a fixed post.Okay, now let’s get to the fun part, shall we? Hope you’ll enjoy 😉
A light smile formed on my lips as I watched through the kitchen sink window Atticus and Rosie play in the backyard as I did the dishes. I never thought that my life could change for the better with a 6 and 4 years old..and to think that I never thought of myself as the maternal type.
The plate I was rinsing off almost broke on the sink as my body jumped from fright, when a pair of hands embraced my hips
“Oh God, you almost gave me a heart attack! Are you crazy?”
“Not really, just a little lunatic..” He laughed “I’m sorry it wasn’t my intention to frighten you, but once I saw that ass kitten I lost my fucking mind! Just like I did 10 years ago...” His hands roamed on my hips until they reached my ass that he lightly slapped. “Did you miss me, cherry?” His lips glued on the nape of my neck
‘Cherry’ that lame ass nickname he gave me 10 years ago...and all because my cheeks go incredibly red when I blush or whenever the weather gets cold making a huge contrast against my pale skin.
“Of course I missed you! This house gets too boring without you in it” I lightly chuckled
“Is that the only reason why you missed me?” He grinds his bulge on my ass, as an insinuation to what he actually meant by that question
“Jon, the kids are outside...”
“I’m not doing anything, I’m just asking an innocent question kitten” He nibs my neck
I turn around to face him, placing my arms around his neck leaning in for a kiss. It started innocently, but Jon Moxley wouldn’t be Jon Moxley if things were kept innocent.
His hands reached the hem of my tank top, sliding in to meet my bare skin, he roams up til he finally founds what he was looking for.
“Fuck baby, I missed these” He whispers as he softly but firmly squeezes my breasts. As much as I would like to have some fun time with my husband it’s not ‘adult time’ yet, which meant the kids were still up. So no ‘dirty deeds’ for us just yet.
I took the little bit of sanity I still had and broke the kiss
“Jon, that’ll have to wait babe”
He sighs “C’mon Y/N is just a quickie kitten, the kids won’t even notice you’re not here..just a few pumps in, I swear!”
“The last time you wanted to give it just ‘a few pumps in’ I was birthing Rosie 9 months later” I reminded him
“So? We love each other, we’re an adult couple with a beautiful family and a lot of love to give” He nibs my bottom lip “What’s wrong with having another little maniac? I wouldn’t mind! We make some pretty fucking good looking kids, we should start practicing another one now” He vaguely said
Oh God not this again... This has been a pretty heated topic between Jon and I, he was always crazy about kids but I wasn’t very fondly of them. When I found out I was pregnant with Atticus I lost my mind! I wasn’t sure about the whole ‘mommy’ commitment for life thing, I didn’t even knew if I had one single bone of motherhood in me. That soon changed though when I first held Atticus on my arms, at that moment I knew my heart was sold to some stinky bum that would call me ‘mom’ for the rest of my life. Rosie was a surprise too, we haven’t even talked about the possibility of having another kid and I was already pregnant with her.
Right after that the baby factory was officially closed to me but not for Jon, he wanted at least two more kids and I didn’t, he had a bit of a trouble understanding that back then I didn’t even wanted my first one! I love my kids, I would die for them in a blink but that doesn’t mean that I eagerly look forward being pregnant every goddamn year.
Jon’s job doesn’t help either, with him constantly being on the road I do most of the raising when it comes to the kids. Of course he still is an amazing father in the short amount of time he is home but still, I’m the one who has to do the working, cooking, cleaning, give baths, put to bed, take to swimming classes, brazilian jiu-jitsu classes, dentist appointments, running to the emergency at 3am because one of them is suddenly sick while the other one sleeps at the emergency’s waiting room chair, wiping off their tears whenever daddy has to leave again..
“Jon, not this topic again, please” I beg
“What is wrong with me wanting to discuss having another baby with the woman that I love?”
“It’s not that simple Jon, I wish it was but is not” I said slightly angry
“Yes it is that simple Y/N! You’re the one who’s always trying to complicate things” He let go of my hips
Great! Now he’s angry too. That’s just what I needed!
“Jon look, I don’t want us to fight ok? You just got home and we all miss each other so why don’t we drop it for now huh?”
I tried to wave the white flag, but I should’ve known it wouldn’t work with Jon ‘The Stubborn’ Moxley
“Of course you want to drop it, it’s not of your interest is it? No it isn’t! You always do this! Whenever a subject doesn’t matter to you, you don’t wanna talk about it, you’re always so selfish! Always thinking about yourself, never once caring about me or what I want! Selfish as fuck!” He raised his voice
When people say that words can hurt more than actions they were right. If he had punched me in the face it wouldn’t hurt as much as the harshness of his words. To say that I am selfish? After everything I left behind just to be with him? That hurt! And instead of doing the adult thing and keep my mouth shut before I said something I knew I would regret it, I did the Y/N thing where I run my mouth with harsher words than he’s previous ones just so I could hurt him as much as he hurt me
“I’m selfish? Me? Oh you better place the mirror in front of your own face to find the definition for that word Jonathan! You are the one who gets to make your ‘wrestler life’ on the road, living like a single man with not even one worry on your mind while I get behind with two kids and all the shit that comes with the package! It’s easy for you to say it with your 15 minutes FaceTime parenting that you do! In the mean time I have to be the bad guy who has to always say no because glorious dad is on the road chasing his dream for when he gets home he will do all of his kids luxuries so he can try to compensate his absence with Barbie dolls and hot wheels cars! So yeah I’m the selfish one Jonathan, good thing you notice that” I regretted those words as soon as they fell from my lips.
Jon’s eyes briefly showed the hurt caused by them but he soon replaced that with rage and pride before lifting his head up to say
“And is thanks to glorious dad that you have this comfortable house, a nice car and a shit ton of food on your table sweetheart. Let’s be honest here Y/N, how are you supposed to support yourself and the kids with your shitty excuse for a salary? I wipe my ass with the pitiful money that you make” He huffed
I’ve never felt so humiliated in my life. Yes my paycheck was mere cents compared to his, but I worked hard for my money, I was proud to have my own money, to share the bills with him and was proud for not taking the easy path of relying on a rich man to support myself (like my dear old mother proudly did). So the fact that he took something that was so prideful to me and used to humiliate me, made me for once rethink all of our 10 years together and if it was worth it at all.
Tears threaten to fall from my eyes and Jon seemed to have realized what he just said as for he reached his hand to cup my cheek
“Kitten, I-“
“Don’t! Don’t touch me, I don’t want you anywhere near me” I said in between sobs
“Y/N please I-“
“Mommy, why are you crying?” I saw Rosie’s smile die on her lips once she saw me crying.
I heard Atticus’ fast footsteps coming by the french doors to stop by Rosie
“Yay, daddy’s home- Mommy are you ok? Why are you crying? Did you get hurt?” His small but smart baby blue eyes roamed my face and my body for any signs of physical hurt
“Yes stinker, mommy got hurt” I said trying to hold back my sobs
“Where? I can’t see anything” Those clever blue orbs that were a faithful copy of Jon’s roamed through me once more trying to find the injury
“Why don’t you guys come here and tell daddy how much you’ve missed him while mommy goes upstairs to clean up the scratch?”
They just nodded and ran towards Jon, who took them both in his arms
“Y/N” He started but I gave him a look that made him go silent.
I reached the safety of my bedroom, feeling the urgent need to run away. Run away from him, from this house, from this country. Taking with me only the clothes on my body and my two little beasties...the immature part of me yelled ‘do it, do it’ but the grownup in me knows I can’t do this. It’s not fair to the kids, they barely get to see their father whom they love and miss so much. It’s not fair to Jon either, he loves those kids more than he’s own life.
But right now I needed my safe place (or better, person), I needed to breath so I called her and when I received the ok on spending 3 days at her house I packed a small little bag with enough close for just those days, as I was zipping up the bag a faint knock came from the bedroom door soon after being followed by it opening.
“Kitten, can we talk- What are you doing?” He asked in urgency as he bursts into the bedroom approaching me.
“I’m gonna go to Nancy’s” I vaguely said looking at anywhere but him
“Nance? Your sister?”
“She’s the only Nancy I know, so yeah..”
“But why? I just got home, I wanna be together Y/N”
“It’s just for 3 days Jon..you’ll be with the kids, they need you and they miss you” My voice is a faint whisper
“But I need and miss you too! I want you here! How am I supposed to enjoy my family if it’s not complete? I’m sure we can figure it out whatever it is that happened earlier” He grabbed my shoulders turning me to face him and cupped my cheeks, tilting my head up to look me in the eyes.
“Y/N, kitten, I know that I’ve said some pretty harsh things to you earlier. I’ve been stressed out. It’s all my fault, I’m so sorry cherry. Please forgive me baby” He pressed his forehead with mine
That was typical Jon, always pulling the guilt towards himself, he has a hard time understanding that he was not always the only cause of a disagreement.
“Jon, we both said some stupid things ok? This is not all on you, love” I released myself from him, if he continued this close I wouldn’t resist, and right now I need to think.
“Yes it is Y/N. Me and my stupid fucking mouth, not you. You’re perfect kitten”
I scoffed “Trust me, I am not”
“Yes you are! Look at who I am now because of you, I stopped doing drugs, I’m not a drinking mess anymore, I eagerly look forward coming come because I know that the three pieces of my heart are waiting for me, look at what I’ve achieved, what you gave me, how you gave up everything and everybody to be with me”
Oh yeah,that.. my ‘high society family’ was not happy at all when they met Jon, they said that we were a very dangerous combination of fire and gasoline, that we would never be happy. I had two options they said, either them or him. I hated my family and loved Jon so it was a simple math. I left my house and all of the luxury behind to live with him in his ridiculously small one bedroom old apartment. The only person that I still talked to was Nancy my older and just as rebel sister, who gave everybody the middle finger and left the not so humble abode of my family never speaking with them again. So it made sense that the two rebellious black sheeps would become their own family, mine was Nancy and I was hers.
“Jon I need some time to think, we need it ok? Please, we both need to digest what we’ve said to each other. It wasn’t just a simple ‘fuck off’ we’ve said some pretty bad stuff so let’s just process this ok?” I beg
“Are you gonna leave me forever? Please don’t tell me you’ll want divorce because of this...I won’t handle it kitten” His voice was strangled by tears
“Jon-” I was thankfully interrupted by Rosie’s and Atticus’ screams of joy on the hallway as they ran towards our bedroom
“Mommy, daddy the movie is about to start c’mon” Atticus says as he jumps from excitement. They have been wanting to watch Moana for a while now, but only when daddy got home so he could watch it too.
“We’re going buddy” Jon fastly said
“Actually” I begin “Only daddy will watch the movie with you” It crushed my heart to see the disappointment on their faces
“Why?” Rosie asks
“Because auntie Nancy called and mommy’s gonna need to go and help her”
“Is auntie Nana in trouble?” Now it was Atticus turn to ask
“No stinker, she just need momma’s help with something, it’s nothing bad I promise”
“Can you go to Nancy’s after the movie?” Jon hopefully asks, he knows that the longer I stay the less likely it will be for me to leave.
The kids gasped at their daddy’s amazingly smart idea.
“Please mommy, please!” The kids started to beg as they kneeled down to make their begging really serious.
Jon kneeled down too, by my side. I looked at him confused and he just said
“Yeah mommy, please stay” He placed his hands on my hips “Please kitten, don’t leave me” He whispered
And now I have 3 pairs of incredibly beautiful and pleading baby blue eyes staring at me waiting for my answer.
What am I supposed to do?...
To be continued (?)
What do you think? Should this story continue? Would you like to see what will Y/N do? What would you do? Please let me know your thoughts, they are so very important to me and help me with my writing 💕🥰

“are you sure it’s okay for you to come out here with food again?” yunho apprehensively asked when seonghwa once again showed up with more food.
“you worry too much,” seonghwa reassured as he pushed the bag towards the golden–retriever. “i told you. jiyu wouldn’t mind.”
or so he hoped. he hasn’t even told jiyu about yunho yet. a part of him wanted to, but he didn’t know what jiu would do to yunho. would she bring him to a shelter? bring him to the facility? or worse, chase him out? he immediately shook that thought. ahe would never do that.
but also, there was a part of him that wanted to convince jiyu to adopt yunho. they were talking about a second hybrid a few days ago, so she would accept yunho, right? even if he was a stray?
“does your owner even know about me?” yunho asked while picking at his rice. “you had some hesitance while saying she wouldn’t mind.”
seonghwa sighed, a sign that yunho took as ‘no, she doesn’t know about you.’
“are you gonna tell her?” he asked.
“i will. soon,” seonghwa said, glancing up to the sky. noticing the gray clouds hovering above, his ears twitched in surprise when he felt a water drop land on his nose.
before they both knew it, it started pouring rain. seonghwa immediately jumped up, about to head back to the apartment, before remembering about yunho. looking down, he noticed the golden–retriever hybrid getting progressively more soaked. he looked...lost. he doesn’t have anywhere to go. seonghwa realized. jiyu would do the same.
“come on,” he called out to yunho, giving him a hand. “let’s go, you’re gonna get sick out here.”
yunho’s eyes widened. “g–go where?” there was absolutely no way seonghwa was telling him to go home with him—
“back to jiyu’s apartment.”
okay he was wrong.
he frantically shook his head. “i–i can’t do that! i’ll he fine, i can just go—”
before he could get another word out, seonghwa was already pulling the giant puppy onto his feet before dragging him by the arm back up to the apartment. he ignored yunho’s protests, which soon died down when they entered the building. luckily, the receptionist was on her lunch break, so no one could see the two.
taking the elevator up to the eighteenth floor and opening the front door, seonghwa gestured around. “make yourself at home. you can wait out the rain here,” he suggested before taking his collar off to go change out of his wet clothes. “i’ll get you some new clothes, too.”
yunho curiously looked around. he hasn’t stepped foot in a homey place in half a year. looking at the walls, he noticed a family picture. standing behind her sitting parents was a teenage girl. yunho cocked his head. was that seonghwa’s owner? her smile practically radiated warmth and...comfort. another thought came to his mind. why did seonghwa take his collar off? weren’t hybrids required to wear it at all times?
coming out of his room clad in an oversized hoodie and sweats, seonghwa noticed yunho staring at jiyu’s family picture. he cleared his throat to catch yunho’s attention. “here, you can change into these. i’ll put your wet clothes in the dryer.”
whipping around, yunho saw seonghwa handing him an orange tracksuit set. hesitantly accepting it, seonghwa led him to the bathroom. as he changed, he couldn’t get the girl’s smile out of his head. if that really was seonghwa’s owner, how lucky he was to score such an angelic one.
emerging from the bathroom, seonghwa took his wet clothes and threw them in the dryer as yunho started exploring the apartment. there were so many new sights to for him to see.
“what’s this?” he picked up a device with a red and blue controller on each side.
“a nintendo switch. you can play games on it,” seonghwa explained, finding the fascinated expression on yunho’s face painfully familiar. it looked like his when he first came home with jiyu. seonghwa felt a tug at his heart. he and yunho were more similar than he thought.
“did you have it bad?” he quietly asked, a hand coming up to gesture to his neck. how abusive were your owners?
yunho’s eyes fell to the ground. “...pretty bad...they locked me in a cage most of the time...sometimes even forgot to feed me...”
seonghwa clenched his fists. it disgusted him how some humans could take advantage of hybrids—almost as if they meant nothing.
“that’s why being a stray is better. freedom from humans, no need to worry about getting hurt,” yunho explained with a little pained smile as he sat on the floor.
the two were engulfed in silence before seonghwa’s phone rang. yunho glanced at the phone on the table in front of him. jiyu :D. his eyes widened. did seonghwa have his own phone?
seonghwa picked up the phone and swiped to answer. “hello?”
jiyu’s guilty voice could be heard on the other side. “hwa, i’m really sorry. but i might come home a little late again tonight.”
using his enhanced hearing, yunho could listen in on the call. hearing jiyu’s voice made him relaxed for reasons he couldn’t explain.
seonghwa softly smiled. “it’s fine, jiyu. i’ll cook something for you.”
“no, no! you don’t have to!” jiyu protested. yunho slightly furrowed his eyebrow in confusion. why was she saying no? isn’t a hybrid supposed to satisfy their owner?
“you already made food the past three days, you don’t need to go through the trouble again. i can eat at the cafeteria here.”
seonghwa slightly frowned. “promise you won’t skip your meal?” he asked.
jiyu chucked. “yes, i promise. i need to go, stay safe, hwa!” she quickly said before ending the call.
yunho was in a daze. that phone call sounded so foreign to him. if he had spoken that way to his former owners, no doubt they’d beat him until he bled. yet jiyu allowed seonghwa to talk to her like that? he didn’t understand—rather than a conversation between a hybrid and their owner, it was like a conversation between friends.
seonghwa slightly chuckled seeing yunho’s dazed and confused expression. “i told you,” he said. “she’s not that type of person.” sitting next to the golden–retriever, he gestured to the switch in his hands. “want to learn how to play?”
and just like that, seonghwa spent the next few hours teaching yunho how to play mario kart, overcooked (which consisted of a lot of yelling and stress for the both of them), and he even let yunho decorate the island on animal crossing.
yunho couldn’t remember the last time he had so much fun. although it was fun as a stray, this was a different type of fun. he felt at home and safe. and it was the best feeling for yunho, he practically didn’t want to leave. but he knew that his time here was limited. he’d have to leave before seonghwa’s owner came home.
the two lost track of time as they played countless rounds of mario kart and overcooked. yunho’s clothes finished drying hours ago and the sun almost disappeared from the sky. they were so engrossed with the games that they didn’t hear the beep of the front door keypad and someone shouting “i’m back, hwa!”
stepping into the apartment, jiyu found it weird how seonghwa hadn’t come running like he usually would. putting her shoes away, she heard the familiar tune of overcooked and the stressed shouts, making her chuckle before she stopped in confusion. shouts? who’s seonghwa shouting at?
making a beeline for the living room area, her jaw fell open when she saw a giant golden–retriever hybrid. “u–um...”
ears standing up in alarm, the two whipped around and their eyes became the size of frying pans when they saw jiyu standing there. yunho froze with horror. this was it. this was the end for him. he’d be kicked out and probably forbidden from coming back.
seonghwa got up and stood in front of yunho. “i can explain, please don’t be mad at me and don’t kick him out,” he blurted out.
snapping out of her trance, she shook her head. “i’m not mad, hwa. just...a little confused,” she mumbled as she glanced at the cowering hybrid behind seonghwa.
she frowned before slowly approaching him. “don’t be scared, buddy. i won’t hurt you. and i promise i’m not mad. i’m just confused as to where you came from,” she gently explained before sitting down on the floor.
seonghwa sat next to jiyu, giving yunho a reassuring look. yunho couldn’t bring himself to look up. his head was down, his ears and tail drooping.
“what’s your name?” jiyu asked with a soft smile as she tried to peer at his face.
yunho whimpered, breaking jiyu’s heart. “y–y–yunho,” he managed to stutter out.
sensing jiyu’s gloom, seonghwa leaned down and rested his chin on her shoulder. yunho peered up at them through his hair. jiyu looked completely fine with his actions. she was even smiling as she pat seonghwa’s head.
“hi, yunho. i’m jiyu. seonghwa’s...friend. i don’t like being referred to as his owner, it’s quite frustrating,” she slightly pouted.
that made yunho snap his head up. what kind of human didn’t like being acknowledged as a hybrid’s owner? he felt like he was dreaming. jiyu was the embodiment of an angel.
jiyu smiled when she was able to see his face. his resemblance to a puppy was uncanny, and she found it adorable. “i see you met seonghwa,” she chuckled, gently scratching behind seonghwa’s ears, making them twitch as he chuffed in content. “i hope he didn’t scare you with his growl,” she teasingly said.
yunho nervously chuckled, making jiyu gasp as she looked at seonghwa with a playful little glare. “you did scare him, didn’t you!” she booped his nose.
seonghwa looked away in embarrassment. “sorry,” he mumbled.
yunho watched the banter in fascination. he’s never seen such a relationship between a hybrid and their owner. it was was so carefree and practically heartwarming. despite being content as a stray, he couldn’t help but yearn for a loving family, just like any other hybrid. and to see one in front of him made him quite jealous if he were being honest.
jiyu noticed his bare neck. “are you a stray?” she asked.
yunho’s hands unconsciously flew to his neck. “o–oh, yes, i am. i’ve been one for half a year,” he replied, painfully polite.
“you don’t have to be so polite to me, yunho,” she reassured. “it makes me feel old.”
“but my last owners kicked me for speaking informally...” he mumbled. meeting jiyu was like a culture shock for him.
jiyu’s eyes widened when she realized what type of background he had. taking a deep breath, she crossed her arms across her chest and pinched her nose bridge, feeling anger bubble up in her. “breathe, jiyu, breathe,” she mumbled.
yunho cocked his head in confusion. “is that normal?” he quietly asked seonghwa, who started nuzzling his head against the crook of her neck.
seonghwa softly chuckled with a nod. “it happens when she’s stressed.”
“i just don’t understand how some people have the heart to treat hybrids like they’re toys,” jiyu said. “like i’m literally speechless, i don’t know what to say. what makes them think it’s okay to treat them like that—”
“calm down, jiyu. otherwise you’re gonna go off on a tangent again,” seonghwa gently said.
taking another breath, she calmed herself down before looking at yunho again. “it’s pretty late, why don’t you stay for the night?” she suggested. “i can figure out your situtation tomorrow. maybe i can try to take you out of your previous owner’s care,” she said.
yunho almost passed out. “n–no, i r–really can’t accept that offer! you don’t have to trouble yourself—”
jiyu chuckled. “it’s not trouble if i want to help you, yunho. no hybrid deserves that kind of treatment,” she said before standing up and stretching her arms above her head. “in the meantime, you’re welcome to stay with us. you’re safe with us, i promise,” she warmly added the last statement before walking off to the bathroom to take a shower.
yunho watched her walk away with widened eyes. she was everything he’s always wished for and more. he pinched himself. he winced from the slight pain. it wasn’t a dream.
seonghwa smiled before patting the golden–retriever on the shoulder. “i guess you’ll be staying in my room.”
yunho couldn’t even refute from the shock he was experiencing from practically everything that happened in the last fifteen minutes. what good had he done in his past life for him to deserve all of this?
in the mean time, standing underneath the shower head, jiyu swore to every higher being in existance that she would help yunho no matter what it took, even if they just met.
just like she managed to help seonghwa, she can, and would, do it all over again.

[Tw// Violence and death]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Arena Area will be compromised. Tributes that are not in the Valid arena area will be terminated. Red markers on the edge of the valid area will be shown to guide the tributes safely."
The robotic voice and the red markers were enough to have the remaining tributes emerge from their hiding spots. The red markers surrounded almost the whole arena. Only the center of the arena was the valid area.
And what's troubling the tributes, are the screams and grunts coming from that area. Clearly there was a fight going on. But the tributes knew deep down, that they're being led to the center so they'll be engaged in combat. All of them. They were rushing the match. They wanted to end it so badly.
Hoshi and Dino exited the cave that they were currently staying at, walking towards the center of the arena, fear was evident in the two, but they decided to brush it off and face their inevitable fate.
Seungkwan who was staying with Woozi had stood up, guiding the injured smaller male with him towards the center. However, Woozi hesitated. "What about Joshua? He's not back yet-" Seungkwan sighed, "I'm sure Joshua heard the announcement as well. We'll see him at the center, don't worry okay?" The trickster reassured.
Well Seungkwan wasn't wrong.
The tributes met at the center, with an intense fight going on in front of them.
The two cursed men.
Not only were they met with the two fighting men, but they were also met by the dead bodies of Seokmin, Joshua, Minghao, and Wonwoo.
Dino let out a gasp at the sight of Minghao's body, eyes wide open, irises an intense shade of green, fingers still in his mouth. The leader gripped his teammates shoulder and let him bury his head in his chest.
In the center most part of the arena were the two men fighting, both of them enveloped in Jeonghan's thick black smoke. Seungcheol was grunting in pain but his sheer willpower was keeping him from fully succumbing to the smoke's effects.
Jeonghan, who had gained little immunity from the smoke in the past few years, didn't feel as worse as Seungcheol. Yet his other abilities were taking a toll on him.
The awful memories were coming back.
Seungcheol was doing the same thing Jeonghan's father had done to him all those years ago. He was making him use his own abilities against him.
Jeonghan knew that he'd experience it once more. And so he trained hard enough to come up with a solution. He had learned how to use his abilities on more than one person. And while he was using them on himself, he was using them on the other leader as well. And he felt it. Seungcheol was getting weaker with every passing second.
The remaining tributes couldn't do anything other than watch the legendary battle going on in front of them. All of them held their breath when Seungcheol fell on his knees.
Woozi and Seungkwan almost sighed in relief at the sight of Seungcheol crumbling in the hands of their own leader. Vernon however only felt fear. He knew Seungcheol would do anything just for his own sake. Vernon was aware of where his leader had come from, and he refuses to go back to where he used to be. Seungcheol wanted the glory and honor. He wanted it so bad.
The healer expected next thing that happened. It was indeed one of the things his leader would do.
As soon as Seungcheol knew he'd lose to Jeonghan, he came up with a plan. Healers were meant to heal others he thought... So why not have them heal him right now? Infiltrating the minds of both Vernon and Hoshi, he forced them to heal them with the best of their abilities. And slowly he stood, his body healing, his strength coming back, and his energy doubling.
"Hoshi hyung!" The youngest of all the tributes panicked. His hyung was in trouble. But he knew he couldn't do anything. The young boy was sobbing. He can't lose his Hoshi hyung now, or not ever. He was nothing without him. All he did was protect and defend the young oracle. But now he was in trouble yet he felt his hands were tied. He knew he didn't have any means of helping him. Nothing could break the young man more.
Vernon... He was smiling sadly at how his leader, whom he considered as a brother, used him one last time. Tears fell down on his cheeks as his eyes turned to a ghostly white. A common sign of exceeding the power limit.
"I forgive you hyung." The Healer whispered.
Woozi couldn't hold back anymore. He had to do something.
With shaking hands, he summoned fire in his hands, sending balls of fire towards the opposing leader's direction.
Jeonghan's loud voice could be heard. "NO! STOP IT JIHOON! MESS WITH HIM AND HE'LL KILL YOU TOO! I CAN'T LOSE ANYONE ELSE PLEASE!" The leader yelled, voice filled with desperation as he turned to look at them. He glanced at Seungkwan, giving him a knowing look.
Then, the two healers dropped down dead on the ground. Seungcheol chuckled, ignoring the broken cries of the youngest tribute, and ignoring the body of his own teammate. He was now at his peak.
Jeonghan was strong, but it doesn't mean he wasn't tired.
Seungcheol pushed himself to his limit, using his abilities with the intent to kill. And at the exact moment, Seungkwan encased all of them in his illusion. An illusion of Jeonghan dropping dead in front of Seungcheol as he laughed in satisfaction.
Jeonghan hurriedly conversed with his members, it was only a matter of time before Seungcheol would sense an illusion around him.
"I have a plan. But I need you both to trust me. Can you both do that?" Jeonghan asked in a hushed whisper. "Hyung we do but what exactly are you planning?" The trickster asked worriedly.
"When I give seungkwan the signal, you're gonna break the illusion. And I'll surprise Seungcheol, and when I catch him off guard, I'll feed off most of his life force, which will hopefully help me regain a bit more strength. But Woozi, I need you to finish him off for me. I can't do it myself. Not with my condition. You're the strongest at the moment. Can you do that for me?"
"I'll do anything hyung. If it means we get to come home. I'll do it."
Jeonghan nodded. And with one last look at his members he yelled.
"Now!"
Seungkwan broke the illusion and Jeonghan charged at Seungcheol.
"Wait! How are you alive?! I killed you-" He was cut off with Jeonghan's scream trapping the both of them in the smoke, feeding off of his life force.
Jeonghan knew that his actions would use up more of his energy than what he'll get. And he accepted it.
He had to die to take away most of Seungcheol's life force.
And so he did.
Woozi could make out Seungcheol's figure dropping weakly to the ground, he summoned fire and lightning. And he shot it at him. Lightning up the area, making it visible through the smoke how he died from one lethal blow.
The smoke cleared up, but they were not met with one deceased leader. They were met with two.
Woozi and Seungkwan broke into sobs at the sight of their leader, a soft smile plastered on his face as a single tear fell from the leader's eye.
The two would've mourned and wailed at the fate of their leader, but the countdown cut the both of them off.
"5 minutes til Arena's self destruction."
The two exchanged a look and hurriedly picked up the bodies of their fallen teammates, not wanting to leave them behind before they locked in their scores in the transportation cubicle.
Two minutes before the scheduled self destruction of the arena, they met the broken eyes of the last surviving tribute apart from them.
'Lee Chan' 'Deo Academy' 'Oracle'
"Come with us. I can disguise you as one of our tributes." The trickster whispered.
The oracle shook his head.
"No, you go on. I want to stay with Hoshi hyung."
"But your Hoshi hyung wouldn't want you to die here."
"20 seconds til self destruction"
"Seungkwan." Woozi tapped his shoulder, "Leave him be. We have to go."
Seungkwan tried not to cry even more as he turned his back away from the arena, Woozi closing the doors and enclosing them safely inside the cubicle as they were transported outside the Arena, ending up in the center plaza where people were waiting for them.
Loud cheers, trumpets blaring, and cameras flashing. Everyone were pleased for the traumatized men.

Chase me||Jiu
Tumblr media
A/N: Welcome to the first part of my Halloween nightmare AU. If you don’t know Dreamcatcher, please check out their music! Hope you enjoy this story ^-^
Admin: Heather
Possible trigger warnings: There’s nothing really scary, but if someone feels umcomfortable by the mentions of being chased, you should probably not read this.
Next chapter Masterlist
You violently jerked awake on your bed and looked around in confused shock. Another night, another nightmare. You’ve been having the same bad dream for the past several days and it started getting really exhausting. Reality was stressful enough even without an unknown person chasing you every night.
“Might as well try to get through that day.” You thought and started getting ready to leave.
Twenty minutes later you were struggling to stay conscious in class as you listened to your teacher’s monotone voice. The combination that of uninteresting monologue and the lack of sleep was doing a great job in lulling you to sleep.
“Dude.” You were brought back from drowsiness by the sharp whisper of your friend Chaeyoung.
She was an amazing student who always aced every test and was loved by all teachers. It must have been impossible for her to not pay attention during class. Well, she wasn’t being hunted down by a haunting figure on a nightly basis.
“Better pay attention or Mrs. Kim will give you detention.”
Somehow you had managed to survive through the boring lesson and emerged from the classroom in search of something caffeinated with Chaeyoung right behind you.
“You know that dreams about being chased can mean that you are running away from your problems and responsibilities. It can also symbolize your hidden guilt about something.”
Sometimes you wondered how can anyone do research that fast. It took her a couple seconds to browse the Internet under her desk. She was very experienced in sneaking around for a teacher’s pet. However it was hard to focus on her helpful chatter when your energy levels were close to zero. You didn’t even pay attention to where you were walking, so it didn’t take long before you bumped right into someone.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” You managed to let out as you looked up and almost choked on your words.
Of all people you had to collide with Jiu, your school president. It was really fortunate that she wasn’t one of the mean popular kids. Actually, it was quite the opposite. Jiu was always bubbly, always full of enthusiasm as she was leading every school event with a bright smile on her face.
On top of that she was crazy beautiful and made you get that fuzzy feeling inside and (according to Chaeyoung) you got red every time she even spared a glance on you. Cause hey, who doesn’t want to have a hopeless crush on a girl who’s completely out of your reach?
“Are you okay?” she inquired in a high pitched voice that was laced with concern. In your current state it was even harder to put a logical sentence together. You must have looked pretty hopeless, because Chaeyoung interfered and saved you from an even more embarrassing situation.
“Y/N has had a rough night.” She explained and pat you on the back while Jiu’s eyes widened.
“Do you have trouble sleeping?” The question was so genuine that you almost passed out from happiness. You barely had any interaction with her until that moment and her attention felt almost overwhelming.
Your racing mind and beating heart made it even harder to say anything, so Chaeyoung had to step in once again.
“I think we need to get some coffee, Y/N doesn’t seem well. Catch you later, Jiu?”
Her bold words almost made you stumble, especially when Jiu’s face beamed at you.
“Sure! Please take care of yourself, Y/N.” she replied and skipped away.
You let Chaeyoung drag you through the halls as you tried to process everything that happened.
“Are you here?” your best friend snapped her fingers in front of your face. You swatted her hand away.
“I just talked to Jiu.” You said in disbelief and Chaeyoung rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, technically I was the one who did the talking, but whatever makes you sleep at night.” You glared at her to remind that you weren’t actually sleeping, but decided that it wasn’t worth elaborating. There was only hope that this night would finally bring you some rest.
It didn’t.
You were out of breath, running through down the flight of stairs. It was almost completely dark, but you could see the way in the moonlight that was shining dimly through the windows. Your hunter was nowhere in sight, but it didn’t mean you were safe. They were there, lurking in the darkness and waiting for you to give up.
Deciding to turn left you sprinted through the hall, adrenaline pumping through your veins. That place seemed almost cursed, bringing the feeling of dread and constant terror. Who was doing this to you? Who was chasing you through this dark building? Who wanted to torment you so badly and why? Millions of questions raced through your head as you made another turn to the left.
And then you heard it. The quick footsteps. They were running. They were right behind you. Only one step from getting you. It almost seemed like you could feel their breath on the back of your neck. Tears started to stream down your face, blurring your vision.
You were running out of breath. It was almost over. Soon they will get you and do whatever sinister thing they were planning. Was there any point of running away? Maybe you could at least try and answer one of the burning questions-
“Why are you doing this?!” you screamed and choked on your breath as you could finally take a look at your tormentor. “J-Jiu?”
Suddenly, you were pulled out of your dream by the sound of the alarm blasting from your phone. You were panting, covered in sweat and confused as ever. Why the hell did you dream about Jiu chasing you through the dark, creepy hallway? That didn’t make any sense.
Maybe Chaeyoung could think of some brilliant theory, but it still didn’t really click. Sure, you couldn’t speak properly in front of Jiu, but people usually had a different kind of dreams about their crushes. Much more pleasant ones.
But the nightmares didn’t stop. If anything, they only got much more intense. You could clearly see Jiu’s hard glare as she almost got you before you woke up. Her red hair flying during her insane chase. Every day you woke up out of breath and on a verge of tears. Of course it didn’t do anything good about your relationship with Jiu. She didn’t do anything wrong, but it was extremely hard to even look at her after escaping her threatening grasp every night.
“You can’t keep ignoring her.” Chaeyoung tried to reason with you and you knew that she was right. But what could you do?
“Should I just tell her that I keep having nightmares about her chasing me? I’d sound like a total weirdo and probably not make a great impression.” Your friend gave you a sympathetic look and glanced behind you.
“Well, think fast. She’s coming.” You turned around in panic and noticed Jiu approaching you. There was no use in walking away if you didn’t want to seem suspicious. You just had to get through that conversation. What could go wrong?
“Why are you ignoring me, Y/N?” Jiu asked bluntly with a small frown. “Did I do anything wrong?”
Her voice was almost shaky and you instantly felt bad. You were avoiding that sweet girl because of your messed up dreams and didn’t even think about her feelings.
“I’m sorry, Jiu.” You said quietly. “I’m just getting through some rough time I guess.”
Getting into details was not a great idea, so you wanted to be as vague as possible. Fortunately, it seemed to be enough.
“Don’t apologise, I was just worried about you.” Jiu smiled softly and took your hand as you tried not to lose your mind. “Remember that you can always count on me, okay?”
You nodded slowly and Jiu planted a quick kiss on your cheek.
“See you around, Y/N.”
She walked away and you just stood there in silent shock. Chaeyoung suddenly appeared by your side and tried to ask you something, but you couldn’t focus. You weren’t sure that this time you weren’t dreaming.
You were running again. It was dark as usual. You were panicked as usual. But something was off. You knew that it was a dream, but you still couldn’t wake up. Almost like you were forced to run and never stop. It was even more frightening, because it seemed like this time it was happening in real life.
“Wake up, Y/N. You know it’s not real.” You tried to convince yourself, but nothing happened. The hunt was in progress and you could only hope that also this time Jiu won’t be able to catch you.
Maybe there was some way to stop this. You just had to think. It was your dream. You were in control. Despite your mind screaming at you to keep running, you stopped abruptly and waited for something to happen. But nothing came. You were alone. Somehow you were able to actually change the course of your dream.
You turned around and almost cried in relief when Jiu was nowhere in sight. You did it. You finally did it. That’s why your soul almost left your body when you turned back to see her right in front of you, staring deeply into your eyes with an eerie smirk.
“Welcome to the dreamworld.”

Rory MacDonald Confirms He Will Face Neiman Gracie - Plus Darion Caldwell returns against Kyoji Horiguchi
Two title fights are confirmed for Bellator’s return to Madison Square Garden on Friday, June 14 – an event to be streamed exclusively on DAZN.
Bellator 222: Machida vs. Sonnen will see current Bellator welterweight world championRory MacDonald (20-5-1) put his title on the line in the semi-finals of the Welterweight World Grand Prix against the unbeaten Renzo Gracie-trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Neiman Gracie (9-0). In addition, Darrion Caldwell (13-2) will defend his Bellator bantamweight world title against Rizin Fighting Federation’s bantamweight champion Kyoji Horiguchi (27-2) in a true “champion vs. champion” matchup, following a Horiguchi submission victory when the two met in Rizin’s ring this past December.
The event also includes two of the sport’s biggest names in Lyoto Machida (25-8) and Chael Sonnen (31-16-1) headlining the card in a light heavyeight bout, who will finally meet after years of parallel MMA careers. Additionally, a 175-pound catchweight contest between polarizing grappling ace Dillon Danis (1-0) and Max Humphrey (3-2) is scheduled, while Heather Hardy (2-1), fresh off two boxing wins in 2018 to remain undefeated at 22-0, is ready to return to the site of her mixed martial arts debut and bring her exciting style back to the Bellator cage against a soon-to-be-announced opponent.
Tickets to Bellator 222: Machida vs. Sonnen are on sale now and can be purchased online fromTicketmaster.com, MSG.com and Bellator.com.The event will stream live exclusively onDAZN, the fastest-growing sports streaming service in the world, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, while preliminary action will stream on Bellator.com and globally on the Bellator Mobile App.
Caldwell, a 31-year-old Rahway, N.J.-native and the current Bellator bantamweight champion, has emerged as one of the most well-rounded fighters in the world, collecting 10 victories since signing with Bellator in 2013. The 2009 NCAA D-1 National Champion wrestler from NC State boasts a resume that includes five first-round finishes, a 25-minute war against Eduardo Dantas to claim the world title and a textbook guillotine choke submission victory over Leandro Higo in his first career title defense last year. Caldwell will look to avenge his submission loss when he enters the cage against Kyoji Horiguchi in June at MSG.
Bellator President Scott Coker had this to say about the upcoming Caldwell and Horiguchi rematch:
“I know Darrion has been itching to show the world that his first matchup with Horiguchi was a fluke. I think there will be an added level of intensity from Darrion now that the first fight is in the books and he’s getting a shot at redemption in the U.S., inside the Bellator cage and just a short ride away from where he grew up in New Jersey. I’m excited to continue our collaboration with Rizin and to bring one of their highest profile fighters to Bellator.”
Kyoji Horiguchi is widely regarded as one of the best fighters in the world at 125 or 135 pounds. He amassed a 7-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming to Demetrious Johnson. Since signing with Rizin in 2017, he’s gone 9-0, winning both the promotion’s bantamweight Grand Prix and the bantamweight title, which he defended against Caldwell in December. He most recently defended the title against Ben Nguyen earlier this month.
Rizin President Nobuyuki Sakakibara added this about the matchup:
“I am very happy and excited to see Rizin champion Kyoji Horiguchi fight Bellator champion Darrion Caldwell for the prestigious Bellator world bantamweight title,” Sakakibara said. “The fans have always wanted to see who is the best in the world, and now they will get opportunities to see who really is the world’s best with this rematch. We hope this action between Bellator and Rizin can provide the industry with more thrilling and appealing matchups, eventually leading to the popularity gain of this sport.”
Inarguably one of the greatest 170-pound fighters walking the planet, Rory MacDonald makes a quick six-week turnaround following his hard-fought contest with Jon Fitch last weekend. Now, “The Red King” sets his sights on one million dollars and clearing the landscape at welterweight and continuing on in a tournament where he must defend his belt each and every time he steps inside the cage. Next up for the British Columbia, Canada-native is Neiman Gracie, an undefeated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist who has submitted nearly everyone to stand in his way.
Bellator welterweight world champion Rory MacDonald shared these words about his upcoming bout:
“I want to take the time to thank everybody who had the chance to see my fight last weekend and share that candid moment I had in the Bellator cage with John McCarthy.
“I felt an internal struggle during the fight I never experienced before. I have always enjoyed my time in the cage by expressing my techniques in full out combat against another top-level fighter, but this time I wasn’t enjoying it. It felt more like a job than the satisfaction I am used to feeling by being dominant and applying what I have practiced to defeat someone.”
“Even during my dominant moments, I felt I was completing a task and these feelings were a bit confusing to me because it’s new. I used to fight with anger I held within myself from pain I had experienced in my past. To be honest, I believe this comes from my heart changing as I’m walking a new life as a Christian. The Lord has given me peace and freedom from the pain that haunted me in my heart from my younger years. I would only satisfy myself for a short period of time from winning fights until the feeling would resonate in me again. So, now I don’t feel the same emotions I have in the past while competing.
“I still and will always have a passion for martial arts and do not believe, as a Christian, that it’s wrong for myself to compete in a professional sport that is violent. In fact, I’m happy to testify about being a Christian on this platform I’ve been given.
“To be clear, I am not retiring from my professional MMA career, I’ve always been true and honest in the sport and I spoke from the heart.
“As for my career at the moment. I am going to move forward in this tournament and compete boldly against Neiman Gracie in New York at MSG on June 14.
“Thank you for your support and all the kind messages I’ve received after this sentimental moment I had for all to see after 14 years of being in this sport.”
Neiman Gracie has laced up the Bellator gloves seven times in his nine-fight professional career, but no victory has been as impressive as his most recent win against Ed Ruth in the opening round of the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix. With the submission win over Ruth, the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt has now submitted opponents in five straight contests, including a submission win over Dave Marfone that took place during Bellator’s inaugural event at MSG, Bellator NYC. Now, with championship gold on the line, Gracie looks to keep his streak alive and take home the upset victory in his hometown.

Release The Hounds...
A few years back I dated a girl from a small town called Tarapoto, in the North of Peru where the Andean Mountains meet the Amazon Rain forest. It was a small, humble town with a tropical climate, that offered fuck all to do. Most of the inhabitants lived close nit, working class lives, my girlfriend's family included, whom lived on the outskirts of the city. Her house was situated in a poor suburb with run down, dirt roads, that were littered with stray dogs. During the day, the stray dogs normally slept due to the humid, perpetual 30°C+ days. However, when the temperature dropped after sunset, they came out to play, when most people returned to their houses.
The locals where used to the good-for-nothing mutts and showed little concern towards them. I'd been informed that if a dog displayed aggression, which wasn’t uncommon, it was advised to pick up one of the many rocks on the ground and pretend to hurl it at the face of problematic dog/s. It sounded good in theory and I’d even seen it work from time to time, though it also seemed that a complete lack of fear was also necessary. At the very least, the fundamental rule when dealing with aggressive dogs, was to remain calm, continue to walk by slowly and by under no circumstance should you ever try to run away.
For the duration of my one month stay in Tarapoto, most days were spent hanging out at my girlfriend’s house with her and her family until late at night, where I'd retreat back to my hotel. During the day I could take a moto taxi straight to her front door step, but come nightfall, no taxi's would pass through the dark streets of her suburb, since nobody was around. So instead, I would have to make the anxious ten minute walk to the main road to hail one. Every one of those walks I made was a complete sweat, constantly being on the alert for mischievous strays, that would became aggressive if you wandered into their territory.
At around 1AM one typical, nerve racking night, when I turned onto the final, long stretch of road I usually took, I noticed a heap of garbage bags up ahead, on one side. I could see three dogs rustling through the rubbish whom I wanted no business going anywhere near, but the alternative was to turn back and gamble on a different road, none of which were illuminated and likely had other dogs lurking in the shadows. I took a breathe and continued.
When I got within eye sight of the pack, I turned on a fake confidence, to try to mask the utter fear that had overcome me. There was a good twenty metres between them and me when I passed on the opposite side of the road but a shot of adrenaline injected into my bloodstream when I got a better look at one of the dogs in particular, that was of a large terrier breed. With a jacked and shredded physique, the size of a Shetland pony and seemingly bred to kill, I wanted no part in a tango with the beast. The other two were smaller but I sensed that they weren't shy of an altercation either. I kept calm and remembered my training.
*Just walk slow. Don't even look at them...*, I thought to myself, reassuringly. But less than five paces later, I heard a subtle but deep bark from one of them. Instinctively I knew it was the enormous hound that had noticed me. Nervously, I looked over again to see that all three now had their heads craned curiously towards me. The large dog barked again, but this time in an obnoxious, troublesome manner. One of the others followed suit. In anticipation for a show down, I frantically scanned the road to see a smorgasbord of rock throwing options, just in case I became more appetizing to them than the trash. But when their barking increased and they began walking towards me, it became clear that I was at the point of no return.
"Fuck...", I uttered to myself in distress, my squinty eyes widening to that of a normal size.
I looked again to the rocks on the ground for much needed ammunition; then back at them, as they closed more distance, then back to the ground again...
*Alright Ryan, no backing down here, you gotta hold your ground. Remember what they told you...*, echoed a voice from the logical corner of my brain.
The large terrier transitioned it’s walk to a trot, it’s confusingly large, yolked deltoid muscles, which looked to have been carved from the hands of god himself, flexing with terror every step. A second adrenaline dump came as my heart pounded violently.
*Do not run....Do not, run....Do not ru-...*, all of a sudden the logical part of my brain became overridden by an impulse of cowardice, causing me to come out of the blocks like Usain Bolt in the one hundred.
Within seconds I'm sprinting as fast as anyone wearing thongs can, with the eruptions of barking at my back, from the savage hounds hot on my tail. A panic-stricken glance over my shoulder saw that there were another three dogs who'd come out of the wood work to join in on the chase for the fresh game that had been presented to them.  The enormous hound at the front of the pack of now at least six strong, with his enormous strides, I could feel closing in on me, like Phar lap galloping the home stretch of the 1930 Melbourne Cup. With a cold but indifferent look in his eyes, it seemed he'd be taking no prisoners tonight.

At the top of my lungs, I let out an almighty, primal roar of, “Fwaaaarrrrkkk!!!...", loud enough to wake up the whole of Tarapoto, whilst fed another ocean of adrenaline, never having ran faster in my life.  With only the grim sight of bare, open road, I clearly wasn't going to out run six animals with twice the amount of legs as I, so I made a change of direction towards the footpath, which was to achieve God knows what. In an attempt to do so, the six inch deep ditch, between the road and footpath caused me to lose my footing and fall face first, with my body coming to an abrupt, crushing halt. My body had gone from full sprinting speed, to a sudden, stationary stop when the middle of my thigh caught the edge of a small footbridge. The foot bridge and my femur bone shared a brief kiss, resulting in a deep, excruciating cork.

                                                Scene of the chase
The adrenaline was enough to fend off the pain, leaving only the feeling of dread of the thought of the dogs about to tear my body to shreds with their rabies infected fangs, whilst I helplessly lay crippled on my back.
Thankfully however, when they caught up to me a few seconds later, they just stood over me whilst barking loudly, before dispersing, when several locals came out the front of their houses to witness the scene.
Vision blurred and in a state of panic, I got to one leg and limped up the street as if still amidst the thick of an on foot chase, desperately trying to escape the canines. I hobbled clumsily up the road, panting deeply, for another twenty metres or so, until I finally realised the chase was over.
Parked not much further up the road, a young driver of a rickshaw moto taxi, looked on as I approached. He asked if I was okay, trying to mask his amusement but failing to do so, after having witnessed the whole ridiculous spectacle. During the chase, one of my thongs had gone astray, so the guy agreed to drive me back down to where I fell, since I was too much of a wimp to walk back to where any of those blasted hounds may have been lingering.
Back at the scene, several of the dogs began barking loudly again, with little regard for the sleeping neighborhood, as I proceeded to scan the ditch where I had fallen. Meanwhile, the taxi guy informed the small crowd of civilians dressed in their pajamas, about what had happened.
"Fucking Gringo...", was the disgruntled expression on most of their faces, when I’d shamefully glance over between rummaging through vegetation.
After a few minutes, right as I retrieved my parted thong, all of a sudden, a large Peruvian man, donning only Crocs and a pair of bright red, speedo-cut underwear, emerged from outside the house where half a dozen people congregated. Standing at around 6′4″ and weighing almost 120 kg, he was visibly mad for having been yanked from a deep slumber and wanted vengeance - to my horror, the target being, the young, innocent and friendly taxi driver who'd only been there to help me. After attempting to explain all the commotion, the young lad desperately tried to plea with the enormous, Peruvian giant but his words fell on deaf ears as the ogre came for him. The kid weaved in and out of the standing folks, desperately evading the grips of the oaf whilst I looked on in despair. At that point my Spanish was far too basic to intervene and try to explain the absurd scene that I was solely responsible for. Nor did I particularly feel like having to break out any Jiu Jitsu on a dirt, rocky road against a semi sleep walking, irrational meat head. Fortunately, the giant's gut weighed him down enough for the taxi guy's agility to prevail.
Some of the civilians finally managed to calm the situation somewhat, which I took as an opportunity to slip away into the dead of the night, like a spineless coward. I slowly edged away from the crowd, unbeknownst to anyone and began limping my way up to the main road to hail a taxi.
Up on the main drag, I impatiently stood for a good fifteen minutes, bearing the agony of what felt like a blade being inserted through my thigh, down to the bone.
Finally, to my relief, a lone moto taxi appeared in the distance and pulled to the side of the road when it reached me. However, my elation turned to shock, when I recognized the face of, none other than, the young taxi driver who had come to my aid only moments ago, after having been dragged into a situation by some dumb Gringo and almost getting his ass kicked for it. On top of that, the cravenly Gringo didn't even have the decency to stick around and offer as much as an apology. His face said as much, exhibiting a look of utter contempt.
"Oh, was that you who just helped me? I'm so sorry man...", I said, in awfully broken Spanish, cringing with awkwardness.
His face didn't change as he maintained a look of disgust, without saying a word.
"Ah, Jungle Hotel, please?...", I asked sheepishly, causing him to turn his head forward, which I took as an indication to get in the rickshaw.
In between awkward meetings of eye contact in the rear view mirror, not another word was exchanged until we arrived to the front door of my hotel.
I made one more attempt at a sincere apology when handing him the money for the ride, but he didn't so much as break his sour, forward gaze. As soon as money was in hand, with me mid sentence, the disgruntled taxi driver hit the throttle, speeding off and bellowing smoke into my face as I watched the rickshaw shrink into the distance.
I limped my sorry ass up the hotel stairs to my room, racked with an emotional cocktail of shame, guilt and anger, before collapsing on my bed.
"Fuckin' hounds...", I muttered to myself, before passing out...
