whew! uhhh it's been a crazy year. i graduated nursing school, got my professional license, moved across the country, started my dream job, and ... well, i also got my nctzenship which was the plot twist of the century for everyone including myself. i feel like i haven't been as creatively driven this year, but giffing has been a really comforting hobby even when i haven't been churning out my most interesting ideas. thanks for joining me for another year of falling in love with new groups and rotting on this hellsite ! without further ado, here are my favorite and most popular posts from every month:

SPECIAL SKILLS

Joanna’s upbringing and extensive training has her an expert with close combat and weapons training. She is adept with traditional weaponry as well as more unusual choices such as fighting sticks, swords, bow, and knives. Additionally she is in peak physical fitness, allowing her to have above average strength and endurance. She can drive almost anything, and learned to pilot a helicopter during her time in the Army. 

She also speaks French, German, Arabic, English, and Mandarin almost flawlessly. Joey’s past and experience with mutants allows her to face them in training, as well as in the field. Despite having no mutant abilities herself, she is able to combat most mutant abilities, which allows her to train the agents to not solely rely on their gifts. Joanna is not invincible, and can be injured, but she hardly shows it when it happens. She has a high pain tolerance and believes in saving face in front of her students. She has a strong will, and a natural ability to lead with her tactical knowledge, however she has tried to avoid being in charge since she lost Devin. 

BACKGROUND

Joanna grew up in a single parent household. Her father was a decorated solider turned special operative for the CIA. Joanna was told her mother left when she was young, dying shortly after from a drug overdose. She never questioned it, and honestly never cared to know any differently. Craig Knox was a stern father, but Joanna always knew how to bring out his soft side. They were close when she was young, and he started training her as soon as she was able to retain information. By the time she was sixteen her body was a deadly weapon, and she was extremely driven. As soon as she was able Joanna enlisted in the army, not because she had a sense of duty, but for the glory. She surpassed expectations in training and was fast-tracked to follow in her fathers footsteps. 

However, she soon got bored. She wanted more freedom than the forces could provide her. At just twenty she deserted while deployed overseas, which strained her relationship with her father. She spend the next few years freelancing as a hired hand. Joanna did it all, espionage, assassinations, kidnapping, if it was illegal and highly lucrative, she has done it, and done it well. Jo dealt with a lot of mutants freelancing, as capturing, taking out, monitoring, etc, of mutants before they were public paid extremely well. She honed her skills even further, and became extremely skilled in dealing with all sorts of mutants. 

It was her talent and experience dealing with mutants that got her recruited to a different secret organization and tasked with hunting mutants to capture and maintain the labs population. At first, she didn’t really view them as people, they were jobs, just like all her other contracts. That was until she met, Devin, the mutant in the lab that she fell in love with. Devin changed her moral compass, and she finally recognized the atrocities she had been witnessing for years. Her and her lover hatched a plan to free the mutants and leave, and they did. They managed to free all the mutants, and created their own group comprised of rescued mutants who wanted to stay together. This new crew lead by Joanna and Devin worked to truly rescue other mutants, giving them the option to remain with them or letting them go free. 

During one freelance rescue mission Devin was lost. Things were going south quickly and Joanna was trying to get some last mutants out. They weren’t going to outrun the labs security so Devin stayed behind to hold them off, and told Jo to get the mutants out. Joanna obeyed, planning to go back in for her lover once she got those mutants to safety. As they were exiting the building it blew, and Joanna made the decision to make sure all the mutants got back to the safe zone. When she came back to the building, there were no traces of life. 

Leaving Devin behind is one of Joanna’s biggest regrets, and one of her most painful memories. She continued to lead her team, but it wasn’t much long after that they were contacted by The Company, and offered positions there. Joanna saw it as opportunity, the company had more funding than she could ever get, and she would no longer be solely responsible for her team. Joanna accepted the offer, and allowed her crew to make their own choices. If they chose to not follow her, she promised them protection and a way to disappear. 

Joanna quickly became a crucial part of The Company. She had extensive knowledge of mutant abilities, and was one of the few human agents who could face off with them and come out unscathed. She takes pride in training the mutants and human agents alike. Jo trains them hard, and trains them to perfection. She cares deeply about them, and wants them to be capable of controlling and defending themselves. Joanna remained 

HEADCANONS

i. Jo has latent mutant DNA. It is unknown to everyone, including herself. The DNA has get to be triggered, and what abilities could develop if triggered are unidentifiable. 

ii. She blames herself for the loss of Devin, and Joanna made a vow to herself to never lose another mutant or human under her watch. She has kept this promise so far, and dedicates herself to train and watch over those under her to absolute perfection. She can be tough, but it comes from a place of love. 

iii. Joanna was wary about The Company, but she joined anyway. She knew that if she felt they were in the wrong she could do something about it, or at least leave. Joanna is dedicated to the agents, not necessarily the cause. She is good at faking it, and she earned their trust. With the Initiative takeover she is cautiously optimistic, but her true loyalty remains with the agents. 

iv. Joanna is opening bisexual, but has not maintained a serious relationship since Devin. Since losing most contact with her father, Joanna lacks family in the conventional sense, however she considers the agents her family and is fiercely protective of them. 

v. Joey used to have a complex about always being the best, and she wouldn’t stop working until she was the best at anything and everything. It still carries over now, because she is the best, but she is less caught up in herself.

National Zoo holding events to say goodbye to giant panda Bao Bao

After spending her entire life at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington D.C., 3-year-old panda Bao Bao will be heading off to China. The zoo is holding several celebratory events leading up to Bao Bao's departure on Feb. 21. Bao Bao was born back in August of 2013 and is part of the National Zoo's cooperative breeding program with the China Wildlife Conservation Association. "There is a loan agreement," said National Zoo animal keeper Marty Dearie. "Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, her parents, are here on loan, and that loan agreement stipulates that any cub we have is required to go to China. They can stay here up until they are four years old. She is three and a half years old. It is right in the perfect time for her to head back." Bao Bao's flight to China will be about 16 hours. Since she loves bamboo, they are going to take 50 pounds of it along with sweet potatoes and apples. "It's not unusual for a wild panda to move a long distance away from their natal area where they were born," said Dearie. Joyce Potemkin, a friend of the zoo and a big Bao Bao fan, is sad to see her leave. "Let Bao Bao stay here," she pleaded. "She is only the second panda born in the zoo in 50 years that has survived. Let us keep her. Let all of the Chinese come see our Bao Bao." Bao Bao is the first surviving cub born at the National Zoo since 2005. Her older brother Tai Shan left the Washington D.C. zoo for China back in 2010. Their youngest sibling, Bei Bei, was born last year in August.
