We've designed quite a lot of lamps and light fixtures for Disney over the years. This is the "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" Stained-Glass Lamp that was designed by Jody in 2002 and released in an edition of 3,500. The hand-assembled glass shade featured a panorama forest scene and the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs. When the light is turned on, the silhouettes of the Dwarfs appear from behind the glass, marching across a log on their way home. When the lamp is off, the dwarfs disappear. #kevinandjody #jodydaily #disneycollectibles @disney_at_home #stainedglass #snowwhite #SoldOut https://www.instagram.com/p/BwEQhX1gzM7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=19jd7eewaaod

Jody designed this Little Mermaid Stained Glass Lamp back in 2004 for the Disney Catalog. The piece is Art Nouveau-inspired and required some tricky engineering to support the heavy top portion on that skinny tail. you. All cast-bronze and glass, this lamp is another heavy one. #littlemermaid #jodydaily #disneycollectibles #stainedglasslamp #soldout https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw_tbuoAHny/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1d1nbbkiurphc

"Winnie the Pooh lived in this enchanted forest under the name of Sanders..." Kevin reimagined Pooh's arboreal abode as a stained glass lamp for the Disney Catalog in 2005. For this piece, we tried a new approach for the glass shade. Instead of the "jigsaw puzzle" of glass pieces joined together, a single glass shape formed the mottled green canopy of Pooh's tree. It was the perfect lamp shade to accompany the soft, dreamy scene of the little bear sitting by his campfire. The tiny fire was a secondary light source, embedded with a cluster of small LEDs. You could illuminate the campfire, the tree, or both at the same time. This lamp is one of our personal favorites. #kevinkidney #jodydaily #disney #winniethepooh #stainedglasslamp #soldout https://www.instagram.com/p/BwohMlrgRGn/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1t7hztbfs1j9o

From the “Night on Bald Mountain” sequence in Walt Disney’s animated classic film Fantasia — our variation on a stained glass lamp: Chernabog had leaded glass wings and glowing eyes. His torso was illuminated from within the mountaintop base. A rare item to find today, only about 200 of these were made in 2002. #soldout #stainedglasslamp #fantasia #kevinkidney #jodydaily #disney #chernabog https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwl5y1qAekk/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=433pj2nahdjk

This "Pinocchio" stained glass lamp, designed by Jody, was released in 2006 in a small edition of only 750. This was part of a larger assortment of Disney collectible items created in the 'Arts & Crafts' style of the turn of the century. Built of richly stained wood and hammered metal, the lamp base supported a shade of wavy glass with metal cut-outs depicting scenes from the animated film based on the illustrations of artist Gustaf Tenggren. The metal cut-outs were designed in two separate layers positioned behind and in front of the glass resulting in dimensional "shadow scenes". It was an idea we came up with after seeing an Indonesian shadow puppet performance, and the results were stunning. We used this 'old world' effect on other lamps to follow. #Pinocchio #stainedglasslamp #KevinKidney #JodyDaily #artsandcrafts #craftsmanstyle #disneycollectibles #soldout https://www.instagram.com/p/BxMnnC6AbbT/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1s1nbwa29khy8

RC, the remote controlled race car, is supposed to be a toy from the 1980s, so his packaging reflects the graphic style and "awesome features" of the period. Back in 2009, Jody and I had the great honor of being asked by Pixar and Disney Consumer Products to help create special packaging for the new Toy Story Definitive toy line, the most film-accurate replicas of the characters ever produced. At the time, Jody had just designed the Pixar Play Parade for Disney's California Adventure, and "Toy Story 3" was still in production. #packagingdesign #pixartoystory #remotecontrolcar #kevinkidney #jodydaily #disneymerchandise #1980s https://www.instagram.com/p/By-iTd1gdRr/?igshid=p9d5hygfh3op

A delicate “Alice In Wonderland” illuminated figurine designed by Jody for the Disney Catalog in 2003. “Who R U?” An eccentric caterpillar addresses a miniaturized Alice. With handblown glass mushroom tops, cast bronze figures, and some resin components, 1000 of these were made and the edition completely sold out. Jody designed this "Flowers and Trees" Stained Glass Lamp for the Disney Catalog back in 2004. We remember the base was cast in solid bronzed metal which made this a rather heavy item to lug around. Not many of our subsequent bronze lamps ended up being real metal, as Disney realized they could just as easily sell weighted resin-cast items painted with a bronze-like finish. It was a battle we fought with the number-crunchers for years. The Silly Symphony cartoons produced by the Disney Studio in the 1930s are so beautifully strange and imaginative. Why are they not more popular today? #stainedglasslamp #Disneycollectibles #JodyDaily #soldout #limitededition #waltdisney #sillysymphony https://www.instagram.com/p/BwRJXnVAKxv/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xa5quc68y8ym

It's strange to think that back in 2001, neither of us had ever used a computer before. We didn't know how to use email yet, much less create digital artwork. Prior to that time, all our professional experience was what one might call "old school". We drew with pencils and we painted with brushes—you know, those wooden sticks with hairs on the ends? In 2001, Jody was hired to create an official logo for the 60th Anniversary of the release of "Dumbo". The logo would be used in a variety of ways, including on commemorative merchandise. Jody penciled the design on paper, painted all the elements in acrylic paints, and handed them over to a graphic designer to assemble and add type on a computer. It turned out just fine, of course, but the experience prompted both of us to enroll in Photoshop and Illustrator courses. Since then, we've become quite adept at creating art and designs on computer. Incredibly, we even know how to email now. 😉 #oldschool #handmade #learningonthejob #Dumbo #jodydaily https://www.instagram.com/p/BvOHEDmll9D/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hhuz4zxo6950
