I can’t find the post right now but I can’t stop thinking about someone on here calling Midnights a “psychological crash cart” in the tags of one of my posts and now I’m thinking..... (stay with me here because this analogy is grim)..... if Midnights was the crash cart does that make Tortured Poets the autopsy?

I have been busy literally all day so I am just catching up with the joe discourse on my dash and it is striking how people do not understand that even if Taylor describes exactly what Joe did to her and even if he is clearly in the wrong, that would still be putting HER in a vulnerable spot??? Like??! Y’all realize that women are crucified for their side of the story alllll the time??? There’s no way for her to do this without being dragged over the coals, so she might as well be honest about her experience…. No matter how bad he looks in TTPD, there will be relatively little consequences for him. She doesn’t owe him her silence???? Like!!! What do people imagine will happen? That the entire world will instantly get behind Taylor and murder joe in the street bc she said he hurt her???? Swifties will discuss amongst ourselves and relate the situation to our own experiences, tabloids will run some clickbait-y headlines for a few weeks, some assholes will cyber bully him (not exactly within Taylor’s control), and a TON of people will “defend him” purely because he is a man. If anything, the general public will put Taylor in the bitch gender role, and misogynist assholes will send her death threats over it.
whatever she says- the outcome for joe is the SAME. And it’s much more vulnerable and risky for her to ~make him look bad~ than it would be to gloss over shit…. Telling the truth is a very brave thing to do.
