AIH020 - Art Reeks

New tears, new fears HEY it must be 2014 already. After stuffing ourselves stupid during the whistle stop holiday break, we've made fists with our hands at the ready to take on the crusty froid post-christmas East Devon.

Right off the bat, we're pleased to officially announce Art Reeks: a collaborative 12" vinyl compilation with good friends / good people Reeks Of Effort. Sharing an almost identical roster of Playlounge, Birdskulls and Joanna Gruesome to name but a few, the task of joining forces was an exciting inevitability.

The 12" features former Tubelord captain Joey Fourr, speedy Glaswegian two-piece Pinact, slacky Oxford punxx Poledo and Welsh sophisticates Radstewart. Pressed on white vinyl, handnumbered and ltd to 300 the release features 8 tracks (2 from each band). There is a choice of four corresponding covers designed by Dale Crosby Close, which when combined form a huge picture. Although we're not suggesting you buy more than one, that would be silly ...

The first two tracks we are unveiling are from Joey Four and Poledo

The first offering, an audible ballad of impending doom from the lips, hips and fingers of the ever prolific Joey Fourr can be streamed above. Born Slippery brings an industrial crunch to the compilation and is the first of eight astonishingly unique tracks.

Although Poledo pummel you with a unforgettable riff for the first 30 seconds of 'King of Cool', they don't waste any time in launching into an attack on pretenders with Evan Clement's proclamation "you fail to comprehend, you don't hear The Wipers and start a band". From this point on, the song follows in much the same fashion; various yelped warnings about putting in too much effort and partying too hard matched by catchy Mascis'esque licks.

We've created a new bandcamp to purchase and gradually stream the entire release. Available 03/03/2014.
