Reintroducing… (in a very messy post)
In Rhythms and Polygons au! (Prev In Shapes and Beats)
A Just Shapes and Beats x In Stars and Time au that takes a “few” creative liberties on the JSAB cast (more under the cut)
This story follows our square protagonist, Cy! A traveler who does not seem to remember much of their origin, and albeit their most notable trait is having the mouth of a sailor.

The Forgotten Island in this au is basically the equivalent of The Void (where the tutorial levels are) in JSAB, Vaugarde is Paradise and so forth.

OKAY so I have "theories" about the Lost Chapter and the Tutorial levels, hear me out on this
The Lost Chapter takes place in a cave and are notably difficult. The difficulty spike from the main game to the Lost Chapter is definitely noticeable. What's right below the very start of the Lost Chapter? The "Tutorial" levels and where Long Live the New Fresh boss is. Way down deep in the cave.
SO. The Tutorial and the Lost Chapter are connected. Just put the Lost Chapter in where it is at the timeline, right after the Tutorial. Makes sense, good to get that out of the way. So how does the difficulty make sense? You go from the easiest levels of the game to the hardest levels (in the story) just by going up a little bit in the cave. Suspicious, is it not? And there's a lot of ways this could be taken, but here's what I think happened.
Deep down in the cave, the player (Cyan for this case) was created through energy. The triangles that create and help the player are leaves and seeds to the big tree of power, kinda like those trees that make the helicopter seed/leaf things. The player then goes on to defeat the three tutorial levels, Chronos, Milky Ways, and Logic Gatekeeper. Very easy opponents, carrying a strange corrupted energy with them that the player now understands is a problem through the triangle's teachings (through "corrupted", the tutorial of the tutorial). These three guide the player to the main threat that it was created to defeat, in the form of the boss. The player defeats and re-seals the boss, and then continues through the cave without further instruction.
Here's where things get interesting. Why is the Lost Chapter... lost? What happened? Well, I think the black hole at the end of it actually wiped away the entire experience, and ALL THE LOST CHAPTER LEVELS KNEW. Well, in a way. Why are the Lost Chapter levels fighting the player? The corruption is sealed away still. What I think is, the levels were keeping the three triangles of power safe when they were taken from the Tutorial level's hold, and they knew that the power was unstable and would cause something like a black hole if left to fuse power in it's current state. The player doesn't know this of course, and the Tutorial levels were never told... they're too far down, assigned with the job of just helping the player with the basics at creation. This miscommunication leads to the player being given the triangles by the Tutorial levels, the Lost Chapter levels panicking and taking them (at least two) away, and then watching helplessly as the player takes them again and causes the black hole to spark.
So basically, the Tutorial levels are just as strong as the Lost Chapter levels, except the Tutorials were holding back, helping the player, while the Lost Chapter levels were doing everything they could to stop the player, knowing what would happen if the power all got together. And the fight in the black hole against the newly created player caused the whole experience to fade from their memory, explaining why it ended up becoming a lost chapter.

it’s really funny how every few weeks or every few months, someone from the pa fandom will recognize me in the pressure fandom and be like what’s she doing here lmao

hi! I’m getting project arrhythmia today and I was wondering if there’s any levels/series’s that you’d recommend i check out? The only 4 I can think of are Black Heart, Dark Delirium, the pack with Kitcat and the series with Pandex (can’t remember the names 💔). I know there’s more I liked but I can’t remember them for the life of me
MY TIME HAS COME. LEVEL RECOMMENDATIONS. YES.
First off, play the base game's story mode so far. It's come a long way, there's a proper tutorial there and proper easy levels that should get you eased into how the game works. Though I feel like that's obvious, but people do like to jump right to customs since they're the most popular.
So...some stuff I'd recommend. I'll start off with stuff that isn't a story, like creators or "recommendation collections" pooling together a bunch of levels in one place:
Anything by MysteriousShep. They're a really good new creator who's been putting out awesome levels with really fun gameplay. A lot of fun gimmicks going on here, and they have a really good visual style where it's enough to be interesting but virtually never gets in the way of you playing a level.
MotionIII is another one of the newer creators who's insanely underrated for how fun his levels are. He makes awesome stuff, go play it.
The same goes for Mr. Neon. I'd say pretty much anything by him is worth checking out too, though Lights and Limit Break in particular are his best work.
Jolly Jack's levels are absolutely beautiful, and they play well too. Absolutely give them a look.
The No Boss Zone collection is a collection I've organized of every good level without a boss fight that I can find on the workshop. If you ever want a change of pace or want to see the stuff that's unfortunately less popular, go check that out!
Now....storylines! I recommend a lot of these for their story, their gameplay, or both.
The Cracked Masonry is a complete three level "mini-storyline" with three short levels. It's a short romp with fun gameplay that's honestly a great start as far as playing storylines goes.
The Crystal Monarchy has a really interesting story it's building up and has insanely fun levels. It's setup so each set of levels is a "world" in a different location. It also spaces out the boss fights a little bit with "mini boss" levels in between most of them (usually each world has 1 boss and 1 miniboss)
Aetherborne Collection is a bit weird as a "story". This is an ongoing project to make levels with all of the songs in the Aetherborne album by Chime, with its own original story that follows after the album's plot closely. The problem with that is, they're being made out of order so there's a lot of gaps, but I still 100% recommend this as a pack of levels to play. Plus, most of the story relies on the music and visuals rather than dialogue, which is super unique!
Void Untold has the thing going on where its earlier levels are kind of bad because they're the first the creator (dragonw1414) made, but the later ones are REALLY good. Only the first 2 levels here are bad honestly, so you might want to skip them/play in zen mode esp since you're new to the game the rest are freakin' awesome. It also has my favorite antagonist in a level storyline.
The Polygon is super fun and has Enchart's great visual style throughout. It recently got its first level in years, so absolutely give it a play.
Heartstrings. This has INCREDIBLE story and worldbuilding for a PA storyline, but a lot of it is in supplemental material like video cutscenes. I recommend checking those out on noodlekin's youtube channel if you can, but even without those, you can enjoy the story a lot by itself - it's great. Though unfortunately, it's cancelled...but what there is done of it is awesome.
And last but not least, Khed's JSAB Pack has some of the best JSAB-styled levels on the workshop if you ever want something like that game.
Hope all of these recommendations are useful, please do let me know what you think of these as I always want to improve my recommendations to people. I know this is a lot - I definitely recommend just going down these lists, I put the sort of better stuff to start with at the beginning. Thanks for asking me for suggestions :)

im a big fan of the jsab skins, really, as a former jsab fan (who's interest just, slowly dissipated over time) it brings me joy that the game is still known even to this day. but like.
i have one gripe, over the skins, yap yapping ahead!! and jsab spoilers too!!
the special lms with the friend skin theme is cool, fitting even, but like, the chase theme? based on Crystal Tokyo???? it's a nice track and i like it a lot but it's also based on the theme of an extra level???? one that's not in story mode???? i mean if the reason is because of like, fear of getting copy righted that's ok i guess, but not a single reference to any of The Character's multiple boss themes???????????? which were like. 4??? +a literal 'chase theme' in story mode called Pursuit??? not even a reference to Boss Badass???? a cutscene theme????? FR????? FR????????
they emulated FantomenK's music style so well, and Crystal Tokyo's actually one of my fav tracks used in the game, but it still bums me out they chose an extra level's theme instead of the boss character's multiple themes. it would've been cool too if they chose to base the song off the tutorial theme too,
here's another personal opinion on the chase theme of ANNIHILATION John Doe. the theme does not fit. yea. its a song based on a song used in jsab but. it just doesnt fit the character themself yknow?? it's, too ominous and too flowy, none of that brash bashing vibes to me that i associate the character with, coming with their themes. like ok, the ominous vibes are ok i guess if you're going with the interpretation that the character is over taken by their own corruption, not the first time ngl. but? the theme is still too flowy. if you checked out the Main Boss's themes in JSAB first then listen to the one we have in Forsaken it. just. doesnt match the vibes. idk how to explain it. like it gives the vibes of a guy out to slice you in half instead of punch you in half and into pieces if yknow what i mean
Also Till Its Over is a funny and odd name to choose for the boss's theme since it shares a name with another track in JSAB in which its more associated with the PROTAGONIST instead of the boss. it's literally the tiny protagonist's boss theme against the boss character
ok. one positive to balance the stuff i just talked about. uh. using close to me. as the inspo for the lms. is awesome. like at first i was like. very confused. Close To Me. the track used in JSAB. is the boss theme of The Friend when they got corrupted, and unwillingly facing the tiny cyan protagonist. in which it shows the closeness of the friend to the protag. and then having it as the lms theme is just genius. because instead of the one harming they are now the one being harmed as the track associated with themself plays. i like to think the lms theme plays in the point of view of the Friend. since, after the ending in JSAB, its very easy to assume that they're friends now with the boss, so seeing someone close to them in that state makes the track play.
also mike geno's fan song is also so fire, it uses samples and motifs that can be found in both of the characters' themes. putting "YOU HAVE BEEN-" from Annihilate and Close To Me's. well. "CLOSE TO ME" together is so good to listen to.

Anyways lemme tell u about the past guardians :3
Before paradise existed there was actually a different island, with different shapes and different guardians !
Any trace of the old islands have since been destroyed though
Every 200 years new guardians get created (so they don't get crusty n dusty n weak)
(Hshshs I'm getting sidetracked lemme actually tell u about them-)
Their names were bee, cipher, kiwi n soren
At this point in time no one really knew about the corruption yet (even the guardians barely knew anything about it) which was a huge dissatvantage when the corruption started (which inevitably caused their and every other shapes' death)
Their job now is to prepare every new generation of guardians for a corruption and teaching them how to dash n stuff
Also in my au every corrupted shape has their own level , and even tho the guardians aren't fully corrupted (since guardians literally cannot get fully corrupted) they also have their own levels (which are the tutorial levels)
(Bee = corrupted, cipher = chronos , kiwi = milkyways , soren = logic gatekeeper)
I also have a few other jsab ocs but those are less important to the story n more just tied to freshs lore n stuff- (their names are Electra n trenta btw :3)

I figured it was only natural to do the tutorial of the game for one of the arts, and the title was too perfect since I'm already taking pages from Frontiers for the AU.
Also, the triangle Sonic collects at the end of each level is replaced by a ring. After boss battles, he collects a chaos emerald (except Long Live the New Fresh where he gets the master emerald which is the equivalent of the tree). The portals to enter each level are just giant rings.
I'm probably going to write out the AU at some point, which I'll post here, but I might wait until I finish with all the art I have planned currently to start that.

So I was thinking, the JSaB tree seems to be extremely powerful (kinda a big thing in the story) and in TPC each hero has their own powerful tree
I had the thought, that they're something of a gaurdian or god in Paradise, so what if it had a shape form?
(Bright colors/eyestrain warning!)
Meet the embodiment of the gaurdian trees, associated with the songs Till It's Over and Once Again. This is player1 form, or Cyan's tree form, which is taken by default. The other designs are very similar, the only thing really changing being the head shape and the color, which becomes a light version of whichever player it is

This is the being that guides the heroes through "the tutorial", basically their first run through the corruption that they're made to defeat and to make sure they're capable of keeping Paradise safe.
This gaurdian almost never makes appearances, and only the heroes can see them... unless a shape or level is actively in a T.I.O. (Till It's Over) form.

I'm making characters for each of the songs in jsab. These are the Tutorial trio, Chronos, Milky Ways, and Logic. A little more information about them below:
The tutorial area is their home. They never named it, but other shapes typically call it "The Void" or "The No Planes"
They are more "shape-like" than other shapes (arms and legs being completely rectangles, etc. They're sort of gods-ish, but only in The Void. Chronos makes The Void's time flow (he can also make it go a bit faster or slower, but it only moves the world and not the people inside it. Milky Ways made the space and needs to be alive to maintain it, but corruption doesn't mess with maintaining the world. Logic makes sure the other two don't do anything too stupid.
Chronos is a male. He is a bit twitchy and self conscious of his eyes. A part of his outfit is longer than the others (like an hour hand and minute hand). His eyes also follow this pattern. He can be chill, but he does have his hyper moments.
Milky Ways or Milky for short is a female. She's pretty hyper and loves to have fun. Even when she was corrupted she still had some fun with it. She might seem irresponsible most times, but when it's needed she can be very serious and take hold of a situation.
Logic is a male. He's also The Void's gatekeeper (the song is called Logic Gatekeeper btw). He watches over the gate that leads into The Void to make sure no unwanted visitors. Although, not many come by due to all the rumors about The Void and many don't even believe it exists, so he doesn't actually spend a lot of time actually at the gate. He likes science and does little experiments often, but most are what you would typically find in those kid science kits.
