August 2nd:
I decided to push this exam back. I was so stressed out and never meeting my study goal each day and just falling further and further behind. My mom finally pulled me aside and told me to move my exam that this stress isn't worth it when it might cause me to make a worse score. It cost $35 to move the exam but now I'll take it September 6th instead of August 25th. I redid my study schedule leading up to the exam and now my daily goal is two modules a day which is much easier than the three I was trying to do and never got to. It's also easier to convince myself to start the work when my to-do list is shorter. Today I studied for three hours and forty minuets and finished up module three and got half way through module four. I'm very happy with this as I got a slow start to my day with having to switch everything around. I'm so much more relaxed now that I have more time!
Today's accounting topic: The economic order quantity inventory model attempts to minimize total ordering and carrying costs and can be applied to the management of any exchangeable good. Just-In-Time inventory model was developed to reduce the lag time between inventory arrival and inventory use.
Other activity: I finally finished a full crochet clothing item! I finished a blue shirt and I love it so much. I've weaved in all the ends and blocked it and got to wear it to dinner with my mom.

August 8th:
Got over three hours of studying in today! I finished up module 8 and did module 9 so I'm finally done with section two. Tomorrow I'll review section two and take a practice exam and then review sections one and two and take the first mini exam. I felt more confidant with the last two modules of section two than I did with any other module but I'm hoping reviewing will give me confidence in the other modules too.
Today's accounting topic: The internal rate of return is the expected rate of return of a project and focuses the decision maker on the discount rate at which the present value of the cash inflows is equal to the present value of the cash outflows (usually the initial investment).
Other activity: I went to the gym at nine am today and took my dog on a mile long walk after it poured rain for three hours and was nice and cool!

September 28th:
I officially hit burnout today after going strong for three days in a row. But that being said I still got in four hours of studying. I'm going to have to start shifting gears soon as I'm fully out of time. I've come to the realization that I'm someone who is just going to have to take these exams multiple times until I pass and that I can't pass on the first try. I can read this material as much as I want and go through the flash cards over and over but it doesn't sink in. I can tell you what it says but I cannot apply it. I think I just need to work with the material for a much longer time than one month to truly absorb it. This fine but doesn't help me for Wednesday. I can give you a broad idea of what I've learned but I can't go into details and this exam is all details. Anyways I've hit my stage of acceptance.
Today's accounting topic: Creditors use debt covenants in their lending agreements to protect their interest by limiting or prohibiting the actions of the debtor that might negatively affect the position of the creditor.
Other activity: after having an absolute meltdown, I went to the gym for about 45 minuets and had a really good work out and then was able to come back and focus.

August 14th:
Coffee shop! Studied for three hours then retook the mini exam and did much better this time. I'll move onto section three tomorrow which only has five modules instead of nine and is on cost accounting. I took my cost accounting class in college a year and a half ago so I'm really hoping some of this material comes back to me. Tomorrow one of my friends is having a going away party since she's moving this weekend so I'll have to work hard and get all my studying done early in the day. The goal is going to be three and a half hours of studying and modules one and two done of section 3. I've got to keep moving!
Today's accounting topic: Cost accounting focuses on what businesses deal with on a daily basis by assessing the cost of production.
Other activity: I went back to the new and used book store and bought Mansfield Park and Persuasion by Jane Austin as well as Villette by Charlotte Brontë! I read Wuthering Heights in high school so I'm excited to read another Bronte sister's book. Now I just need Emma and Northanger Abby to complete my Jane Austin collection and now I've started a Brontë sisters collection!

September 7th:
One of these days I'm going to make a plan and actually stick to it. Today was not that day. In a perfect world, I would have finished module seven, reviewed it, and taken a practice exam on it. Instead I spent two hours working through half the multiple choice questions and then stopped. I meant to pick it back up and finish the questions but I wasn't able to bring myself to. By this time next week I need to be done leaning new material and need to be reviewing but I've still got two whole sections to do after this section. I need to find a way to study more each day instead of mindlessly scroll on my phone. But when I take a break I cannot get myself back studying again. Not sure what needs to be done other than practicing self control more :/
Today's accounting topic: There are obvious negatives of selling less product than planned, such as not making as much profit, but you also have the benefit of having spent less on variable costs such as materials and labor.
Other activity: I did do two very adult like things today. I planed all my travel to my company's orientation in October and I went to the bank to make sure my bank account is completely set up for when I move out and need to start buying furniture and paying my apartment's rent since. Its crazy to me that I'll be moving out in just over a week but another reason I didn't get anymore work done was because I was planning out my furniture for my apartment all night.

July 16th:
Decided to take it easy today. I did two and a half hours reviewing my mistakes from the second simulated exam. I wrote down the multiple choice questions I missed and worked through what I got wrong on the task based simulations and now feel like I'm understanding my mistakes better. I'll review a bit more tomorrow and then take the final review simulated exam since the actual exam is this Wednesday.
Today's accounting topic: In a review engagement of a nonissuer, assessment of control risk is not required.
Other activity: I got tired of being sleepy today and decided to sleep until I wasn't tired anymore. I slept until I physically couldn't anymore and then went to studying. It was a lot easier to focus.

June 14th:
I finally got some motivation to study today! Granted it was only three and half hours but that's way better than the past couple of days. I don't know if its because I had coffee or what but I was finally able to take the mini exam for the first two sections in my study course. I needed a 50 to be what the course considers "exam day ready" and I ended up making a 64! I spent the past two days reviewing the information in areas one and two and even though I didn't cover everything I do think it was enough to push me over that 50 and even higher. I meant to start the third area today but I decided that I had gotten a lot done and I could do the first three modules of area 3 tomorrow. I just hope my motivation stays up tomorrow!
Today's accounting topic: When auditors are given financial information they recalculate some numbers and match other numbers to supporting documents to make sure these numbers are correct. Next to these numbers they put little marks called tickmarks that an experienced auditor should be able to look at and understand what the other auditor did with the number the tickmark is indicating. (I feel like this is stupid since the tickmarks are usually required to be described in detail at the bottom of the workpaper but whatever lol).
Other activity: I went by my favorite coffee shop today and tried a new drink and I think it might have been better than my old favorite drink they got rid of!

August 10th:
Slow movings these past two days. I'm still reviewing section two before I do a practice exam on it and then I'll review section one and then take the mini exam. That needs to be done tomorrow. I reviewed for about three and a half hours today but I just don't feel this sinking in. There's too much information. I don't know what to do about this except to keep working at it and hope it gets better. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
Today's accounting topic: Factoring is when a company sells its accounts receivable to a third party for cash. The company gets a percent of whats in their receivable was and the factoring company receives all that is due to the original company. This is good when a company needs cash quick.
Other activity: Yesterday I meet up with some friends for lunch and then we did some shopping. It was so much fun and I missed them so much!! But I realized that only talking to my parents all summer has ruined my social skills and I kept fumbling over my sentences oops

August 31st:
Moved on to section four yesterday and did two hours of work today on module two of seven. I get the math questions right most of the time but it takes me anywhere from three to ten minutes to get to the answer and when there's over 60 questions it takes forever to get through. But I still find it worth it to try and figure it out on my own first even if it does take a long time. Tomorrow I'm going to the coffee shop and I'm hoping to stay there for close to five hours. We'll see how that goes.
Today's accounting topic: Generally accepted accounting principles and the IRS require the absorption cost method when it comes to calculating net income from sales however, some companies prefer to use the variable cost method even though it's not allowed when reporting.
Other activity: It cooled off a little bit and I was able to walk my dog for a full mile!

September 6th:
Just under four hours today so not too bad. I spent three hours at the coffee shop just working on module six's questions but I actually did pretty well with the task based simulations for a first try! I worked a little bit more at home by watching the video for module seven. I wanted to finish module seven today but I didn't sleep too well last night so I think an early bed might be a better choice! I'm meeting up with a friend to study tomorrow so I need to be feeling my best to have intelligent conversations (aka we'll probably mostly just gossip and complain haha)
Today's accounting topic: With a variance analysis companies can compare their budgeted amounts to their actual amounts when it comes to revenue and costs as well as discover where the exactly the differences between the two arise.
Other activity: The coffee shop did a little latte art on my coffee today and its so cute!! It was such a nice surprise since they've never done that before and I didn't ask for it.

July 8th:
Just over 25 hours done already this week and its only Saturday! Might actually go for the 30 hours a week tomorrow and I kind of think I need to. I took the last mini exam, which was for areas five and six, and ended up making a 55 on it. I'd made a 64 and 63 on the previous two mini exams so I was disappointed to see that lower score especially since I think I know the material from these last two areas the most. That being said I've put off taking the simulated exam because I believe that it wont be a true representation of my abilities since I don't remember the earlier material as well. So I started up the study service's final review and I'm hoping to take the simulation exam on Monday. I did almost three hours in the review today and its definitely going to be a big help refreshing my memory.
Today's accounting topic: For the Securities and Exchange Commission, lead and concurring partners must rotate off their engagements after five years and stay off for five year while all other auditors need to rotate off after seven years and must stay off for two.
Other activity: I ordered some white yarn and it finally arrived in the mail today! I'd had the colorful yarn already but I needed the white to go with it for a striped sweater which I started working on tonight
