❝ ah --- for you, ukitake-taichou---? ❞ sometimes, it was easy to forget that aizen was a young captain, barely three centuries old that he was aware of. compared to the older man, oh --- he was young indeed. but the question had pink blooming upon aizen's cheeks almost involuntarily; he remembered all too well how strong his crush had been on this man when he'd been younger. a puppyish sort of love that had somehow bubbled up in him before he'd been fully aware of it. it was enough to make his head duck now, brown eyes focused on an oh so interesting sight nearby as he swallowed and then coughed. at least his voice was steady when he spoke, albeit soft and almost shy. ❝ --... ah, i --... y- yes. yes, i do. i--... ahem. ❞ best to stop talking now, probably.

"Captain Hitsugaya, I have a report that mistakenly came to me. But whilst I'm here," Jushirou rummaged through his haori sleeve to pull out some candy and place it down. "This shall do!"

" Oh? " He proceeds to procure a hold of the distributed report 'neath his industrious custody and expeditiously inspects through its written content whilst the man had taken momentary suspension. " ---- That seems to be a common occurrence these days. " he additions, finalizing his prompt assessment to determine that it had, in fact, been a slip up 'fore resting the pages aloft his desk; the piece of confectionery that was placed adjacent wholly disregarded. " You didn't have to come all this way to bring it here to me, Captain Ukitake, but i appreciate it. --- Was there anything else? "

"Jushirou-san, not too late am I?" He offered a crooked grin. But as per usual he is late. He's just set on believing his long time, close friend knows him well enough to not hold his less than admirable habits against him. Oversleeping during one of his day time naps had gotten the better of him. If some punishment should befall him well then, in that case, perhaps Ukitake would go easy on him, most certainly he would. "Ise-chan isn't making the rounds in this area is she?" He glanced around with a bit of guilt stricken across his face until he was sure Nanao was nowhere to be found.

"Ah, but you wanted to meet up, I appreciate the invitation, tea, wasn't it?" His usual, pleasant smile flashed once again.

          Shinji reached out and steadied the taller man; one large, lean hand clasped firmly on the other’s shoulder, supporting him so that he would not pitch forward. The blond furrowed his brows slightly at his fellow Captain, who looked faint and under the weather, even more so than usual. 

               “ Ukitake-taichou, yer far from yer division, ” he commented by way of greeting. Glancing around, Shinji did not see his attendants; the two squabbling Third Seats usually buzzing around their Captain in attentive adoration. Shinji had no idea what Ukitake was doing around this section of the Gotei today, but that was not the question to ask right now. 

               “ There’s a pavilion just ahead; how ‘bout we go over and have a short rest there? ”

beneath the ever expansive branches of their favorite cherry blossom tree the pair sat . one leg crooked over another fingers laced together on belly back propped up against the strength of the trunk behind him lay the captain . sakkat tipped forward to shield both eyes from errant rays of sunshine peeking out from the protection of each blossom .

      the dizziness had suddenly attacked him out of the blue. When he had been perfectly fine thus morning and strong enough to venture outdoors despite the changing weather. winter was at its last leg and he had wanted to enjoy the season before it passed him by without his noticing. sometimes, it really was much of an effort to go about his days and yet he persevered regardless.  “ I would appreciate that. Thank you, hirako-san. ”

          The two Captains slowly made their way down the pristine passageway together, Shinji taking his cues from Juushirou and matching the latter’s slower, tiring gait. The end of winter meant that snow was melting everywhere, so even with the frequent maintenance of all the roads and footpaths within Seireitei, every flat surface was wet, and worse, some patches were also covered by a thin, translucent layer of treacherous sleet. 

          The two light-haired men held onto each other and wobbled around almost comically, carefully picking their way over to the pavilion, a task that took longer than usual thanks to the slippery road obstacles. Shinji sighed with relief when he finally delivered the more frail Captain under the sheltered awning. 

               “ Ya sure picked one helluva day ‘ta come out for a walk, Ukitake, ” he commented as they both took a seat on one of the benches. “ What brings ya over here today? ”
