Hey Kait, so what's your initial opinion on the Ssum? Personally I'm a bit underwhelmed by it, but it's not the fault of the game itself. It's just not my format tbh

I enjoy games with a definitive story and complex characters who get to interact with one another, and while it's highly possible there's more to the Ssum than meets the eye, I just do not find much joy in chatting with a single AI, even if Teo seems really realistic. Obey me is a good example, cause it has a ton of different features, but at the same time, it has many characters who each have a different story and share complex relationships with each other.

It's nice seeing everyone so excited and happy though :)

This is gonna be my thoughts so don't take it too seriously. It's just what I'm feeling right now. I'm happy if people are having fun and out here to explore a new game!

It's an overwhelming format with so much information thrown at you all at once that it makes it hard to understand what's going on and all the things that you need to do. It's not the kind of format I'm used to either, but I'm sure you could get used to it over time. You would just have to be committed to the process. But, it'd have to pull you in with a good hook. Is it doing that for me? No. It's not done it and I doubt it will.

I understand why Cheritz put in more ads and ways to pay for bonus content but I do not like the fact that you'll have to pay to download photos and other content when so much of that was free in Mystic Messenger. A lot of content in-game is clearly enhanced by the pay option and $19.99 a month isn't worth it in my eyes. It just puts this sour taste in my mouth about how the world shifted to "pay for little pieces of a game instead of paying a base price for everything."

I would rather pay Cheritz $50-100USD if need be for a full game to play if that's the case because $19.99 a month is $239.88USD a year. Who has that kind of money? For reference, I could literally buy the RFA Box, the Special Believer Box, and an emoji pillow for that price, including shipping.

Everyone has to get paid for working on a project like this, I am all for that, but at some point, certain options in F2P games wind up feeling predatory instead of straight-forward. Mystic Messenger has a great system for F2P. You pay to do chats faster, call without paying for the hourglass, and unlock cutesy bonus content. The SSUM has a lot of basic features with "buy more energy to get this!" You can feel that it isn't the same set-up.

Maybe I'm spoiled by Mystic Messenger in terms of what you can get for free but...

Hell, you can pay to get Dandelion and Nameless on Stream together for a decent price if you want to pay another Cheritz game without this money nonsense. If I am paying that much a freaking month to get content, I better be seeing Teo do all sorts of things for me all the time. I'd have to love Teo for that.

Teo has a personality that I'm not too sure about and I'm very picky about Otome characters. I need a hook to draw me in and he's not hit one immediately. I'm picky. I like a compelling universe where I have a cast of characters that I can find myself with and explore. Teo is one guy, and while he's got a mystery to unravel that I already have a lot of thoughts and theories on, I don't know if he'll be worth the effort to me at this point. That could change, though.

I play Obey Me and even though the Gacha system isn't the best for games, that one is very polite with you. It gives free pulls every one to two days, and there are means to unlock and get items without you having to pay unless you really want to do that. I feel like paying for content if it's an option shouldn't force you to pay for what should be standard. This is a problem with video games right now a lot so don't get me wrong, I'm not humming and hollering because The SSUM is doing this by itself.

I hate paying for DLCs and stuff in games that get patched in when I would happily wait a long time for a full game to come out. Like, ah, Sword and Shield for Pokemon, you have to pay for the Post-Game arc. You never had to do that before. You got it with the game and that was that. They held events to let you buy or pick up a code to get a legendary event, sure! But, that wasn't going to take away from the gameplay. It's just bonus.

I want people to get paid what they're due for making games but players shouldn't feel like they're being baited into paying for stuff. Video games are just different than they once were. It's a complicated thing and I don't really want discourse or debates right now since I'm just sharing my thoughts, lmao. So, I'll leave it at that.

I appreciate the interface, I like the art style and that the MC avatars in-game look so cute. There's potential in this game if you really want to look for it and find it. They put a lot of labor and time into this one game and I can appreciate that. It took a long time for a reason and I hope the mysteries of the game become unraveled soon.

I can't say I'll be super invested in The SSUM. I didn't think I'd be anyway, since the pay-to-play stuff didn't cut it for me. Teo just isn't a character that excites me. Who knows? He's just a guy. He might be your guy someday! He seems cute and cheeky. I'm just looking for a game with a lot of characters that I can love. Teo seems to be many characters in one but ah, I'll save those theories for later.

The one thing I can appreciate is that you can plug the RFA members into the game. [You can plug in everyone with a Route + Vanderwood, for some reason, Rika isn't an option.] I'll put my Ray, Unknown, and Saeran here.

Ray misses me, that's all I care about.

Note : I haven't played this DLC and I never will, this is based on the spoilers that I have read from other blogs . I am not trying to bring down neither Cheritz nor the people who enjoyed this DLC. This is BASED ON MY OWN OPINION. I have nothing against people who have their own kinks , I actually respect it and I do know that Jumin and MC can be in a kinky HEALTHY relationship . First of all, I am not a big fan of BE2 , I mean, because of this damn ending, he is portrayed as the 'daddy dom' guy in the fandom eventhough it was MC who asked for this whole thing ,not Jumin 🚶‍♀️, I still don't understand this mystery. Like I know why cheritz did this, you know for money & fan service for the thirsty fans who are only fans of Jumin for his BE2 and not for his complex characterization. Now, Jumin is definitely KINKY 😏👀 ,but they could have explored his kinky side in a more healthier way cuz there were some parts in the DLC that scared the hell out of me (especially pinning the MC down cuz she tried to get close with other members) . I don't like controlling men at all. These parts made me so uncomfy .This is the biggest reason I didn't even try to play this DLC eventhough I had hourglasses stored in my account . Btw , for you info,I have deleted the app 7 months ago.

I am sorry guys 😂, but when I saw this CG this was what I thought, my brain is weird.

Jumin becomes controlling only when MC is enabling him to do so, but still inhibiting MC from getting close with others 🚨HELL NO TO THE NO NO🚨 he thinks that this is how he should show their affection to their S/O but hell no..it's not, Jumin. That bitch of an MC was totally manipulating him for her own sexual pleasures, THIS IS NOT LOVE, GODDAMIT. This DLC did provide us some new information regarding his past, so this DLC escaped from my slander which I have already done though hehe

◇ We got to see Jumin's vulnerability ;;

Look at him 😫, I am gonna cry, he begs MC to show and teach him about love in this scene, but you knw what MC does ? , 🤪 SEX GO BRRR 🤪...She was keeping Jumin like this FOR 2 MONTHS, WTF. Imagine his mental state, JESUS CHRIST, it's just heartbreaking to see him like this.

◇ We get to knw about his MOM ( I would kill you, if i see you again .Get the hell out of Jumin's life..😃🔪) and for the first time in my life,I actually thought Chairman Han is much better than this creature haha..🙂.Yes, he did treat his own son as an employee, but the chairman is much better than Jumin's 'mom'. No wonder Jumin hated women..

◇ We also got some smexy CGs, like OMG! 😏, I hate this approach, but got to say, cheritz, you made me droll over him because of these CGs, why didn't you do this in a healthy approach ⁉️⁉️ god..sometimes i have a love-hate relationship with Cheritz.

Overall, the DLC doesn't seem to be that bad, they did not romanticize this ending too much, otherwise I would have gone to korea and riot 😃. We did get some amazing CGs and something about his past,

Can I not expect Jumin's fluffy side?, I mean, the fandom treats and has concluded that he is a dominant daddy, it's a well known fact now, I don't really have a problem with that, I am used with this label that he has got. But Many fans could have known that Jumin is such a softie too through that . But cheritz wanted 💸 I guess, can't blame them 😃

Anyways, I am thankful that CHERTIZ has decided to give content for Jumin eventhough it was unnecessary, atleast we got something, right, guys..? let's be happy that we got some smexy CGs 😏

Mystic Messenger V’s After End Player Experience/”Review”

First thing’s first - I did not finish this. I know I am breaking my own rule by reviewing something without completing it so I’m only here to review my experience as a player who has decided to not continue and all I have read up to (Episode 6 of 8).  Second thing - I hated this and I feel cheated, so if you’re here to change my mind, you won’t be able to. I respect your right to disagree with me but please focus the energy you would waste on trying to convince me by spreading the good word elsewhere. I am a burnt 2.5 year-long player and a lost cause. 

Third thing - I love Cheritz and I love Mystic Messenger overall. I still recommend this game and studio to everyone and I recognize that I owe the creation of my entire identity as Ruby Lee Ray to this game. I’m grateful for what they do for us as game makers, but that does not mean they are perfect and I think their actions as of late have really fallen out of touch with their own players’ wants. 

TL;DR - Do not buy any of V’s After End if you are looking for more V content. 

Alright with disclaimers out of the way, here’s my BEEF! Point 4 has a spoiler so please only read up til then to avoid any plot spoilers.

1) IT’S HELLA EXPENSIVE! Remember when After Ends were 20 HG per episode? Yeah - this is 80 HG PER EPISODE ($4 CAD) and you have to spend 100 HG (5$ CAD) at the end to REPLAY THE ENTIRE THING and get the other ending! For a total of roughly 37$ CAD - RIDICULOUS!!! 

2) As of me writing this on the afternoon of February 17th 2019, all sprites are blurry and pixelated even after several people (including myself) have contacted Cheritz. It has been several days and while they have responded to some claiming to have fixed this - I’m here telling you that it is still not fixed. Remember Seven’s blurry jagged finger in the Christmas DLC a couple years ago? Picture that again but full body sprites. 

3) V isn’t even in his own After End!!!!! I am on Episode 6 of 8 and there is still no V. He has written us 2 very brief letters. This is not a V After End, this is another Saeyoung After End/A desperate attempt to convince players to give Rika yet another chance.

4) They introduce a new character in what feels like an attempt to excuse Rika’s behaviour entirely. This pissed me off SO royally! I can buy Mental Illness to a certain extent, but I cannot buy yet ANOTHER puppet master! Especially almost 3 years into the game’s canon! This is inexcusably bad writing. 5) I don’t hate Rika, I just don’t care about the character. Cheritz releasing what is essentially two Rika DLCs feels misguided and completely out of touch with their players’ wants. While I can only speak for myself, I don’t feel like I’m alone in saying that I don’t want or need any more Rika content in everyone else’s stories. 

Please don’t mistake me here, I’m all for writers and game makers telling the stories they want to tell with their own characters, but don’t hijack V’s After End and make it an advertisement/extension for Rika’s DLC. Give her her own route or mark the story properly instead. 

 I saw some people refer to V’s After End as “False Advertising” and I’m inclined to agree.

I think that’s all I have to say on this but just in case - Do not buy V’s After End if you are looking for more V content. I suggest you save your hourglasses and check out fan fiction on Tumblr and AO3 instead. I promise you will find far more satisfying After End material than what Cheritz have offered us. I’m so disappointed!

Hello, I recently started following you and I apologize if this was already asked. But in all honesty did you like V's after ending? I regret so much playing it, I feel like it tainted the whole game to me. Plot wise after story was ok for me, but I hate how we are forced to forgive Rika and her actions.

I was mostly disappointed tbh.  Now mind you, this is completely 100% my personal opinion, so if you enjoyed his after end and disagree with me, that’s valid. To each their own. 

My opinions under the cut since it is going to be a little long. 

What I liked:

I’ll go over the parts I did like first. I did like the moment with 707 and Vanderwood, was happy that Saeran was alive and the CGs were really pretty. 

What  I disliked: 

1) Lack of Nuance

I sort of expected them to try to redeem Rika, but I did not expect it to be executed like that. The judge ending was incredibly condescending, and I hate how the options had no balance and were either “Rika was mentally ill. She did nothing wrong UwU” or “Rika needs to be burnt by a thousand suns and receive the death penalty”. It’s much more nuanced than that, and Cheritz seems so quick to dismiss the feelings of Yoosung, Saeyong and Jumin for not forgiving her immediately. Look, I understand Rika is mentally unstable and was raised under terrible circumstances, but letting her get off without any consequences considering the harm she’s done just because she had some encounter with God doesn’t make sense. That law does not work that way, and mind you, it’s not like I want a Rika torture porn (Like Cheritz would categories us), But she at least should be sent to a psychiatric ward/ Rehabilitation center under court law, and maybe in there, she might turn over a new leaf. It essentially boils down to “cool motive, still murder”   

2) Glaring Plot holes 

Now I’m not going to act like the plot of Mysme didn’t have plot holes from the start and fictional stuff like Zen’s psychic dreams, but some of them were really apparent in V’s after end. I’m relieved that saeran is alive, but how the heck did V even find him on time and ship him to Alaska? Mind you, at the time Ray blew up Mint Eye, V had not only been drugged but stabbed. 

And as Rika calling out the Prime Minister is framed as a redemption arc, I honestly doubt that it would actually do anything. An easy rebuttal is that Rika has already been televised by the media to be 1) Mentally unstable, 2) a leader of a frickin cult 3) a manipulator, so i doubt Rika’s little TED talk would have convinced the public to impeach the PM. Mysme had plot inaccuracies from the get go (the whole timeline is kind of wonky) but the after end just magnified it by 10x. 

Also Rika’s character in general? In the another story routes, even when you try to be understanding to her, she mocks you for trying to woobify her, telling you coldly that “she is not some sad girl to be saved” and seems to be aware of the harm her actions do, but does them anyway. And her saying she wanted to be a mother to Saeran, but in his route, it’s obvious she never liked him and saw him as second best compared to Saeyong, and thus treated him like absolute shit and destroying his self esteem. It seems Cheritz just changes Rika’s personality just to fit the plot  

3) V’s Screen time

And not to mention how little V was in his own after end. I’m not made Rika is in it, since Rika is part of V’s backstory, like how they would not exclude Saeran from Saeyong’s after end/secret endings, but it is so weird how Rika essentially hijacked his after end. There was so many things to give closure for V’s route, such as repairing the trust between V and the RFA members from holding secrets, and possibly developing V and MC’s relationship (Given it wasn’t developed much in his own route) Halfway through, I almost thought it was Rika’s DLC.

4) It’s all due to mental illness! 

Now, I’ve played a fair deal of otome/VN, and most of the time, Mental illness is not portrayed accurately or is used as a trope. I’m not looking at Cheritz for a webMD definition of mental illness, and that’s how I wasn’t super mad over the portrayal of BPD in Ray;s route. I’m sort of used to wonky interpretations of mental illnesses, but wow the “Mental illness was completely to blame” stance just grinds my gears. Rika’s actions included things such as starting a cult, brainwashing a child, and stabbing people. Saying that “She couldn’t help to do those things because of her mental illness” portrays people with mental illnesses as a ticking time bomb, that they are inherently dangerous as they can do such abhorrent things out of their control. There are many posts talking about this in depth, so I’ll just end this here. Tldr: I enjoyed bits of the after end, but overall I was just disappointed. Instead of being satisfied, I just felt more empty and confused.

Rika’s Behind Story, V’s After Ending and rant about the fandom

I haven’t been on Tumblr since Wednesday evening because in case I might spoil myself. I wanted to play without reading what other people thought about it. Now I’m done with both and read through a bit that has happened over the past 2 days and I’m...feeling unsettled.

I played Rika’s Behind Story first bc I thought it might be important for the After Ending and I wasn’t disappointed. At some points V’s After Ending only makes sense when you played Rika’s DLC. Especially when it came to Mika (who I first thought was Rika, but nope.) I admit, I don’t like Rika. At all. Which most likely happens when you love the twins and especially Saeran (he’s my baby boy and I love him #sorrynotsorry). Still, I wanted to know why she became the person she was, probably to blame her some more for her actions. We got parts of her past in Another Story in general and I wanted to know more. And I must say: I now understand why Yoosung’s mother doesn’t like her own sister.

What I was confused about were Mika and Mina. They look like siblings but aren’t. I’ll try not to write any spoiler for it, just my opinion. With Mika we have another character we can blame for Rika’s actions. Sometimes I thought Mika is just a figment of Rika’s mind, an imagination but nope. From what we learn in Rika’s Behind Story and V’s After Ending Rika got manipulated, abused and whatnot from her so called parents, her pastor and her so called ‘sister’. It’s not an excuse for what she did and I will never forgive her for what she did but I have a better understanding of her character. People here on Tumblr say it’s just an excuse for her shitty behavior but aren’t we doing the same with Saeran? Saeran’s route was ... Let’s say even I got disturbed by one of his bad endings. But most of us also excuse his shitty and abusive behavior because of his past. Because it’s not his fault he’s like that. It’s Rika’s fault. But it’s not Rika’s fault she had a twisted imagination of love and everything. ...Wow, that sounds a lot like an excuse. I think I might stop here because people are going to hate me for this, lol.

So, what I didn’t like about her Behind Story was ... in fact Mika. I don’t like her. As I see it it started all with her, affected Rika and then Saeran. But as I see it, Cheritz made a past for her that explains why she founded Mint Eye. Why she wanted to be the Savior.

Back to V’s After Ending. Yes, it’s fucking expensive. Yes, it’s not all about V but I like the way they made it. With V’s good end we find out V was gone for two years before he came back (as a hippie) and asks the player to stay with him. Sure, Cheritz could make it like the other After Endings, a continuation of the Good Ending but I can’t be the only one who was curious why V was gone for so long and what happened after Mint Eye got blown up. And we got an answer. Sure, calling it After Ending might be confusing because he doesn’t continue from the very end of the Good Ending but it’s connected. Plus we got some part of an After Ending with Lucy.

I understand why people here on Tumblr, who like V, are upset about it because a lot of the After Ending was about Rika. Gonna ask you a question: Were you upset too because most of V’s route was about Rika too? Rika plays a heavy part in V’s life, they were engaged once. We can’t forget about it. Rika is important to V and yes, like Cheritz did, if you want to tell the story between the ‘end of his route’ and the moment he came back two years later, Rika has to play a bigger part than most of you want.

Of course there are things I didn’t like about his After Ending, like the Judge and Forgive system. I was okay with only one ending. Sure, I kind of like both but ... It was expensive to reset the whole thing too. Whatever. There are also things I loved about his After Ending and it’s the closure we got for the twins. I stayed in denial that Ray died back at Mint Eye and I’m glad I didn’t give up hope for him. It was one of the moments I definitely cried a lot. Which leads me to the whole Saeran/V controversial. Let’s just say I’m not a fan of this ship. Have never been, will never be. Yes, I thought the scene between them was gay as fuck but then I remembered what we knew about them from Saeran’s route.

Saeran admired V. He loved him like a father he’s never had before. V was the one who told him he was allowed to name the flower, that being weak wasn’t a bad thing, that he wanted to take him on a trip to take pictures and everything. V gave him the love he needed. Now imagine how Saeran must have felt after Rika’s manipulation, after V had left. Saeran lost his father figure, lost his trust in him and thought he lost the love he got from V before. The love of a parent. I personally don’t think Rika and Saeran were so close, though Rika seemed to be the one talking to Saeran more. I think his bond to V was a lot stronger. And it shows after he got rescued that all he wanted was for V to love him like he used to when he was a child. Saeran realized Rika didn’t ‘love’ him the way he needed and wanted. So, to me, V’s and Saeran’s relationship is more like a father-son one and not romantic. Sure, I don’t blame anyone who ships it but it’s nothing I would ship.

What I do blame people for is being rude fucking assholes. People are complaining they didn’t want an After Ending like this, they stop supporting Cheritz because it didn’t go their way. Guess what? Life isn’t a bowl of cherries. Yes, it was expensive, yes, V was barely in the After Ending. Yes, maybe it’s not like you imagined it. But does it justify your rude behavior to Cheritz?

Not. At. All.

Cheritz is trying to give us more content because the Mystic Messenger fandom is ... let’s say pretty demanding and annoying. All the fandom does is take but when the content we get for a game they created isn’t what you wanted, then you start blaming Cheritz and threaten them to stop playing and buying things. Well. Do it. Stop playing. Stop buying things. But don’t blame Cheritz because you wanted to have the game in a different way. If you want it to, then create your own. Go on. Do it. Think about a story, a whole world, about characters. It’s not that easy, right? It’s a lot of work.

Sometimes I think people forget they don’t own the characters. You don’t own the game. Cheritz does. And what people, who I see complaining here forget about, is the work in the Behind Story and After Ending. Dialogue had to be written, CG’s to be drawn, voices to be recorded. A lot of work got into the DLC and AE and you can especially see it in the work of the voice actors. They poured their heart into it. They acted in a way that made us feel with the characters (and yes, I cried. More than once).

What you do is just whine like a child whose parents doesn’t want to give their favorite candy and when they get another one they pout because they didn’t want it. It’s rude, unrespectful and downright shitty assholish behavior. Cheritz doesn’t have to give us new content. Cheritz didn’t have to listen when the fandom demanded a V and Saeran route. But they did because they love us. Because they see the game helps people with their own problems, let it be to take care of yourself, to eat, to make sure to sleep, ... I can go on and on with this, but I think I might stop here. Can’t wait for people to tell me how shitty I am for telling the truth ;) Go ahead. I’m waiting and go and paint a bit.

okay so, i like Mika back here. BUT WHAT I SAW IN THE V ROUTE, thats not cool Mika. you were kinda okay? you were already a little manipulative to a three year old. “My little sister, should always have short hair” how about you shut up. Twins? All she ever wated was to be loved and not taken away from her “Twin”, Maybe thats why she cared so much for Saeran and Saeyoung before she ddi what she did. Mika no, no. You’re the one who put those awful things in Minas/Rikas mind ugh okay i go back to not liking her, that was very fast.

Its really good, to actually understand why Rika/Mina/Serena turned out the way she was.

i mena i already forgave her in the V ending

but even though she did those bad things, if someone just loved her and didnt feeed her with horrible views of the world, she was still a caring girl even though the darkness took a hold of her,

Im not glad of what happened to her, but if it didnt we would have never even met anyone. so as mucha s i hate to say it, im glad of what happened, and 100% glad we could help her through with it.

V After Ending full review MAJOR SPOILER

Well...to be honest its quite disappointing but i was fully satisfied as well. I used all of my HG and its story is by episode and the most important and the part where i got to be lovey dovey with V is at the final episode! I’d rather buy the last 5 episodes since those are more important than the first ones. 

They covered up Rika’s past as well (just a bit but bye-bye 240 HG) nevertheless i felt that  was unnecessary since she’s going to have her own backstory. PLUS!!! in the end they just put together the choice that you had with V happy ending in the original ones too. So it’s not totally new, just with more add-ons choices.

The ending though wooooow I am fully satisfied and really all the questions as to why Saeyoung looked calm when he met V at the party even if Saeran was ‘dead’ is answered. 

Real last ending where 5 years after they got married and decided to adopt a child. I was thinking Jihyun had already gotten over his past, and they got together for 7 years, maybe they also had trouble conceiving a baby after all. Cheritz might want to give us bittersweet ending too in the end. The baby looked so much like theirs so i was surprised. Blue eyes of Jihyun and MC hair colour it was perfect! She’s a daddy’s girl alright

AND THE DARK HUMOR TOO! “If i want to defeat daddy i need to stab you with a special sword!!” I was like ...”are you sure Cheritz?? well maybe it’s not that much of a trauma to him now lol 

Mainly i was disappointed because its not really V’s AFTER ENDING EXCLUSIVE. What i expect really was us getting romantic after those traumatic events with V. but no we got whole loads of other past explained (THEY’RE ALL IMPORTANT BUT MY HOURGLASS!!) that i rather we have those classified as another DLC instead. Saeran CG with V is important so that why i hope we could've choose what we want but the next episode purchase can only be bought if you buy everything.

Other characters After Ending was cheap but wholesome since they focused on the character only. Ah but they spend a lot of their time for this and I am grateful still , they can take all of HG for all i care. With this I hope Cheritz continue to flourish,

Thoughts on Ray’s Route and Unknown

A crazy long rant >.<

It’s been exactly a year since I finished Ray’s route. I still remember that day quite well. I found it actually kind of romantic that I finished on Valentine’s Day. It was like Saeran was my Valentine. My thoughts on the route at the time were that of anger and joy. Suit Saeran made me furious, but GE Saeran made it better. He made me cry a lot of happy tears. Now that a year has passed, I wanted to talk more about my feelings about the route.

Everyone who knows me knows that I’m passionate about Unknown. Heck, just by looking at my blog, you could probably see that. From the very moment I saw him in the game’s opening movie, I was very curious and excited to see the trouble he would cause. I ended up seeing the prologue bad end on youtube and was like “Dang that’s hot +_+” Idk. I’ve always had a thing for those sweet talking kidnapper villain characters. The ones you know aren’t good for you, but if they ever got their hands on you, they’d cherish you in their own twisted way.

As I played through all of the routes, the part that excited me the most was when Unknown would show up and do bad things. Zen’s route in particular was so thrilling. The fact that he didn’t show up in Jaehee’s route was a bummer, but I was extremely disappointed when he did nothing in Jumin’s route too. Jumin was the one I ended up really liking, so I had been hoping to see my main man duke it out with evil side bae. Unfortunately, that never became a thing T_T

I saw some minor spoilers for Seven’s route, so I knew that Unknown would be heavily involved. I ended up being really disappointed with that route. At the time, I blamed it on Seven’s pushing MC away, but in hindsight, another major factor was that we really didn’t get to interact with Unknown much after the break in. Even during the secret ends, he’s there, but doesn’t really pay much attention to you. I guess I had been hoping to explore things with Unknown and his twisted view on the player. I also really wanted to help him recover after Mint Eye, but Seven took total control with that.

By that point, I had kind of accepted that Unknown wouldn’t be dateable, so I just figured that Jumin was my “true end.” But then the Christmas DLC happened. . .

AMAZING!!!

Seriously! Unknown’s ending was everything I wanted from him!! He abducts you from the RFA, spoils you with gifts, and ties a ribbon around your neck +_+ He’s menacing and creepy, but still very charming and fun about it. It’s thrilling. My only disappointment was that it was so short, but that sparked the hope that Cheritz had more plans for him. Surely, they wouldn’t include that as the only way to end up with him.

When V’s route was announced, I clung to the hope that they were also going to secretly include a Saeran route. I figured that the route would branch off from the prologue bad end and let us spy on the RFA or something.

So then V’s route came out. Gah…I could go on a huge tangent just about V, but all I will say is that I felt no chemistry with him at all, and grew quite annoyed with all the secrets and shenanigans. Ray intrigued me though. Due to not having enough HG, I had to wait to do V’s route, so seeing Ray’s name in the call card purchase thing and also seeing his little intro bubbles when you first start up game made me feel even more hyped. I was so eager to see what this dude’s deal was. Once I played, I was definitely enamored by his cute creepiness, though I was under the impression that it was Unknown putting on a sweet charade for the MC and would soon show his true colors. It did get to the point where I got a little frustrated with Ray and his lies, because I just wanted him to rip off his suit, ruffle his hair, and reveal his true self. That did end up happening…though much later and not at all how I expected. Anyways, Ray did grow on me more, and I found myself feeling frustrated and agitated once we got separated.

And then Unknown showed up. O. M. G. Did that man show up. I honestly still remember exactly what I was doing when that went down. I was upset about missing a Ray call, but then my friend messaged me and said that I was going to LOVE what was about it happen. I had just gotten out of the shower, and was still in my towel, hair dripping wet when I did the chat and got the phone call. THE PHONECALL!!! That had to be the moment that I feel deeply and madly in love with this man. The way he says that he wants you and even says he will show you the things that Ray wanted to do to you. I was on the edge of my seat. I was screaming, blushing and swooning. Even though he could be quite frightening, it was still very fun. I was so excited to see what would happen, and I even spent the extra HG to call him as much as I could. I was honestly hoping that he would come to the cabin, or that we would at least encounter him in person, but alas… he really wasn’t out all that long T_T

I will say that Ray being worried and upset about the possibility of Unknown hurting MC was quite touching. I really was developing feelings for Ray. I didn’t adore him as much as Mr. Sexy Edgelord, but I still liked him, which brings me to the topic of how Another Story handled Saeran. Yes, I do think that Ray was added to make Saeran “romanceable.” I really don’t see any signs of Ray in the OG game, however, my friend, TK, pointed out that during the secret end when Unknown and child!Saeran seem to have that back and forth and then shoot V, that was dissociation. So that could be a hint about him having DID. And it does make sense that Unknown would have eventually taken complete control by the time the OG timeline takes place. All that’s to say, I really don’t mind Ray. He’s a sweet and cute bebe and his creepy side is pretty fun. He and Unknown have a pretty interesting dynamic too. Both have the same desires for keeping MC while destroying V and Seven. It’s just that they go about it different. Unknown is bold and unapologetic, while Ray keeps things in and is much more gentlemanly. They clash, yet I could see them growing to get along and work together. They would honestly make an amazing team. As you can imagine, I was pretty sad when Ray died and furious at V for still not revealing the truth to Seven. Really V? REALLY!?!

So fast forward to when Ray’s route was announced. I was hyped. Absolutely HYPED. This was the most excited I had been about something in a long time. I preordered the Mint Eye box and then waited, and looked at endless fanart of Ray and Unknown. My predictions for the route was that we were going to save Ray from the fate of Unknown completely taking over. That we were going to teach him what real love was compared to obsession. After all, he acts very clingy and creepy in V’s route, so that seemed to be the problem that needed fixing. I also was highly anticipating what Unknown would do. We would be stuck with him, completely at his mercy. Hhhh +_+ I was also thinking that he and Ray would be constantly switching control and fighting each other. But I hoped that they would learn to accept each other. My main worries for the route were that 1. Unknown would disappear forever at the end. 2. MC would be taken away from Magenta and separated from Ray sometime during the route. And 3. Rika would get all freaky fresh and get in the way. Rika did ruin things, and Unknown did end up disappearing forever…or rather, he ended up not existing at all! But more on that later.

It felt like an eternity, but the box finally came. Waiting for the tracking was pure torture, but once it came OMG Here’s the mail it never fails~ It makes me wanna wag my tail~ When it comes I wanna wail MAAIIIIIIIIL~~~! Looking through the box was an absolute joy. The smiling picture of Ray in his diary melted my heart, and I put all of the pictures in frames. Though I will say I was disappointed about the lack of Unknown content…it should have been a red flag about his fate in the route. Anyways, I was going to start the game at midnight that night. It was around a twelve hour wait, but it felt so. much. longer!!! I remember I was listening to the soundtrack and couldn’t concentrate on anything else. I Am the Strongest hyped me up, I was almost certain that was going to be the song that played when Ray and Unknown fought, but alas… Four Seasons also made me cry. It made me so happy to think that Saeran would get a happy ending with MC T///T I even saw the trigger warning for the route and figured it involved Unknown being kinky and aggressive. Either that or them really delving into Saeran’s childhood abuse… T_T And once again, I was completely wrong.

Speaking of agonizing waits though, playing through those first four days before entering Ray’s route. Torture. Pure torture. I didn’t care about V, or the RFA, I just wanted Ray and Unknown. Once I got to the first new VN, my hands were so shaky and I was tearing up. Ray’s new faces were amazing, though at the time I hadn’t realized that the Ray I knew was about to change…

It was something I hadn’t noticed at first, but Ray’s creepy, possessive side completely vanishes. I get that he would decide not to give MC an elixir, but I still feel like he isn’t going to magically lose all of his creepiness. That was honestly what made him fun, and while I do understand his self-loathing, I do feel like it got repetitive. Chats during that branch started to sound the same, and I found myself getting antsy. I just wanted to spend time with Ray and get to know him more, but at the same time all the foreshadowing with Zen’s Jekyll and Hyde/White or whatever got me super SUPER EXCITED!

From what I understand, Hyde is based off of Jekyll’s darker impulses. He’s violent and sexually aggressive. Because let’s face it, Ray’s darker desires are that he wants to hurt Seven and V, along with making MC his. He’s just not as bold and active about it, but he does send that Prime Minister info to Seven along with the ripped pictures to V. He also does say a lot of creepy things to MC. It’s easy to imagine that Unknown would actually put these desires into action, and he has shown that he’s very capable of that in other routes. The symbolism was perfect for Ray and Unknown! I believe Zen also alluded to Jekyll and Hyde fighting for control, so I also thought that foreshadowed that Ray and Unknown were going to indeed duke it out. Imagine it. Fighting over your safety and wellbeing. One man just wants you happy, while the other wants to selfishly keep you all to himself. I was so pumped. SO PUMPED.

But then tragedy struck.

Thing is, I am a curious kitty. I’m a ho for spoiler, and me being me, I sniffed around and accidentally saw something I shouldn’t have saw. Someone was complaining that “Saeran” was way too mean to the MC. It went on to describe how he called her ugly, and smelly and how he would feed her.

I was crushed.

I was absolutely crushed. The thought of Unknown doing that was devastating. It just so happened that I saw that on the day that the switch happens, so I spent most of that day moping, and then the night dreading it.

Here’s the thing though. When it happened, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was. It didn’t hurt my feelings, but instead baffled me. This man seemed different than Unknown. Not only was he dressed completely different, but his voice seemed a lot more subdued. His laughs were not nearly as loud or high pitched, and even the chatroom… he felt different than the man who said he would come to cabin and drag me back to Mint Eye. His speech bubbles were even a different color. They’re blue in this, but then reddish in V’s route, the Christmas DLC, and the OG Prologue. (Fun fact, but before V’s route, Unknown’s bubbles were purple.) He seemed a lot less threatening, more extra, more insecure, more sane, and because of this, I’ve come to the conclusion that they are different people. Therefore, I’ll call him Suit Saeran. Now I know some people say that Suit Saeran is like the baby version of Unknown, but eh…that doesn’t explain why he’s so more like the OG Unknown in V’s route. I feel like Rika’s treatment of him affects how the new personality will act, and if we get a Rika route, my theory is that “Saeran” will become possessive of her and become your love rival for her.

Now I will say I get it. I get why Suit Saeran acts the way he does. It ties into Ray’s self-loathing, but…I feel like Unknown would have tied into the way Ray acts in V’s route. Why did they change Ray? Why didn’t they go with Unknown instead of Suit Saeran? Did they think Unknown was too violent? Did they think he was unlovable? Or was it that they were punishing Unknown fans for being so thirsty. Everyone in all the other routes cherishes MC for the most part …except in this route.  Suit Saeran and even Rika berate MC, call her useless, and pretty much say she’s better off dead. I personally found it ridiculous to the point of being comedic, but I do know that it deeply upset some people. I do think it went too far. For example, the CGs with Suit Saeran are great, but his dialogue during those scenes just ruins any enjoyment I could get from that.

I was so furious.

Unknown was truly the one thing I had been waiting for, and it felt like a slap in the face.

I will say that Suit Saeran apologizing and then the emergence of GE Saeran made things…kind of better. I was a little upset that Ray and Suit Saeran (And any other personas) seemed to be gone forever though, but GE Saeran was sweet, and after the abuse and agony of Mr. Posh Tie Boy, it was a Godsend. The phonecalls were great, and the chats were great, but that didn’t fix everything. Though looking back, I kind of feel like Ray didn’t really get any development in his own route. Even with the self-loathing plotline, he himself never learns to love himself. The last time you see him, he’s crying and saying how he was never meant to stay around. So he basically just disappears forever. At least Suit Saeran got to learn his mistakes and try to make things right. Idk. It’s just kind of upsetting and strange to me.

Anyways, there were still plenty of sleepless nights where I would just think about how Unknown wasn’t in the route, and how I would never be able to get to him or romance him. To this day, it’s still something that frustrates me to no end, and it’s honestly something that always will. I’ve lost hope that Cheritz will give us any other Unknown content. We haven’t gotten the after ends after all. The daki was nice, but dang…in a way, it’s kind of another slap. They were capable of writing a flirty Unknown. They were capable of writing him fighting Ray for MC’s affection. WHY WAS THIS NOT PUT IN THE ROUTE! THEY MAKE UNKNOWN SO SEDUCTIVE AND PASSIONATE ARGH IT’S WASTED POTENTIAL FSJDLKJLKSDJLFJSDLKfjls

There’s also the fact in the Halloween DLC that Ray compares himself to the Phantom of the Opera…and that dynamic once again fits Unknown more. The only time the Phantom talks mean to Christine is after she pulls off his mask after her first abduction, but it doesn’t last long, and otherwise he’s a lot more seductive and aggressive like…UNKNOWN. Sigh…heavy sigh… I’m a huge phangirl, and honestly I really do feel like the Phantom fits Ray and Unknown perfectly. T_T There’s his sweeter, more childlike, vulnerable angel side, and then his dark, seductive, murderous side. HHHHHHHhhhhhh.

I used to hate Suit Saeran, but now I don’t. I still kind of resent him for taking Unknown’s place, but when I look at him as a separate entity, he’s not so bad. He’s kind of funny, and there’s good fanart of him.

I’m really not sure how I feel about GE Saeran. Back then I had really liked him, but now I wonder if maybe…he had been a little too perfect? And it really bothers me how the other personas are gone. He seems really different from Redhead Saeran too. I get that he escaped from Mint Eye with less trauma and had MC along to help but… JFsldjflsfj idk though. I’ll see how he is in the after end. If we get a dark chocolate Valentine’s day with him unleashing his Unknown side then…I’ll forgive Cheritz…a little…but at this point, I’m not even sure if we’re getting the after ends.

Ultimately, if Unknown had never existed, then I would have liked this route a lot more. The fact that he’s not in it destroys my enjoyment of it.

Ah this is getting long, so I guess all I can do is make Unknown content, and make things the way I wanted them to be. I don’t plan on leaving this fandom any time so soon, so don’t worry about that~ And if you stayed to read this entire rambling rant then you’re so awesome T///T

So I wrote this a week or so ago and queued this for Feb 14th, and as you can see, I added tags talking about V’s route. I really liked Ray’s villainous side, but now that I’m farther in V’s route, I’ve got so much more to say. For one, my thoughts on Ray still stands, but Unknown. Oh my goodness Unknown.

I was determined to get all of his calls, just figuring that I would I get a fun little flirty time, but I got so much more than that. I can scream to the rooftops that he’s so much more fun and different than Suit Saeran, but he’s also in a lot of pain. It’s something that hadn’t quite sank in the first time around, but he’s happy to have his body back. He’s annoyed at Ray and thinks he’s too soft and an idiot, but a lot less harder on him than Suit Saeran is. 

But there’s a phonecall that really got to me. He doesn’t let you respond at all, but he wants you to listen. It seems like he wants someone to talk to.

You know...I still don’t get who I am.

I’ve been awake for only a few times. And I still don’t get how come I’m awake.

But I know one thing... I’ve been so freaking mad from the beginning.

I want to crush everything I see. I can’t control myself.

I just broke every single flower pot Ray was tending.

I felt a little better after stomping those frail roots.

What am I...?

Why did I wake up so suddenly?

Did I wake up for vengeance?

He then goes on to talk about torturing V, but the way he says this, there’s pain behind his growls and cackles. It hurts my heart. I don’t know...even if Cheritz intended for him and Suit Saeran to be the same person, the pain they go through feels different to me. It just feels like they changed so much about his and Ray’s character when they made Ray’s route.

Saeran’s AE Announcement

Okay, so, let’s talk about that merch, and how I feel about that and what I think that means for what’s coming as well as what Cheritz just put out because my game still isn’t loading. Forgive me if I have some mistakes, I’m still shaking with joy. 

Spoilers ahead.

I went ahead and ordered the merch for myself so I know that this is going to be wild. This implies that we’re going to either be traveling a lot or there’s going to be quite a bit involved with the ending in itself. I’m not sure what to expect but I need to point this out: 

This implies that the After Ending is going to be built and set-up like a Route. I mean, that would explain why we’ve had to wait so long. I haven’t gone to the YouTube video because I’m not risking spoilers right now. I know that this is GE Saeran because he’s wearing his trusty white shirt, and is that his Lily of the Valley for us? God, I love that. 

V and Rika are on the screen as well so that is something to think about. I talked about my feelings in my longer analysis post. How I really hope that we are able to save V from that toxic relationship and have Rika face what she needs to face and— 

These glitches imply that Rika is going to be involved in the AE heavily and I can only wonder... V is wearing his sunglasses during the Happy End and offers to burn and perish for Rika, so I worry for the sake of his eyes in this situation for sure. I mean, look at that.

I’m really going to be surprised at what Cheritz is doing here. Though, they said this was the Finale. I don’t know if that means no more routes or more more DLCs apart from the birthday and holiday specials. I don’t know, guys, but I’m happy to be experiencing this with you guys. I’m happy that we’re all here right now! 

I don’t know... I see 3 days there but it could be more than three days. If I were to glance at the YouTube videos I might have more answers but I want to go in blind more or less, you know what I mean? Could it be 11 days? Heck, I don’t even care at this point, it will give me a lot of time with Saeran and that’s the only thing that I care about.

I think what I’m reading is that we’re going to be traveling to find Saeyoung. I think there’s a deeper meaning to what’s going on here. Looks like we’re going around the world in 11 days. Okay, or less. I don’t know. I DON’T KNOW HOW MANY DAYS.  I don’t know about Saeyoung... there’s no information here for him.

But, let’s just read into this and say we’re hunting for him! 

I know that when I get the merch in the mail, I’ll share it with you guys, but that’ll be a few weeks, because I ordered my Special Believer Package last week and that just got shipped Tuesday. So, that’s going to be a lot for me to look forward to as well as the rest of you.

I’ve seen some folks post vaguely about this, but none have had much traction. I’m not active in the Mystic Messenger community, despite actively participating in the game itself and looking/reading up on the fandom without ever commenting on it. Despite that, I thought I’d share something interesting I noticed in the new Rika backstory DLC and V After Story since I haven't’ seen it spread around or talked about.

I was surprised nobody mentioned this outright. Rika’s backstory arc and V’s After Story mentioned that it was related to fictional religious beliefs, particularly during Rika’s route. But no one mentioned the fact that the song that played during every overtly ‘religious’ scene was a song from their previous game, Dandelion.

This was similar to how Cheritz tied both Dandelion and Nameless together, through the song ‘Blows’ that first played during various Dandelion cutscenes but appeared throughout the ‘secret ending’ in Nameless (the link for the song is here). Every Rika’s cutscene with ’God’, whether in her backstory route or V’s AS route, established Rika’s desire for her desperate wish coming true to become the sun. This was portrayed using starry-skyed ‘alternate worlds’ that felt similar to the previous two Cheritz games where there was a super-powered ‘Wizard’ working behind the scenes to grant each character their most desperate wish, though the powerful being itself was female instead of a male wizard like the past two games.

While Mystic Messenger utilized a love-focused caring ‘God’/Wizard character rather than Dandelion or Nameless’s selfish antagonist Wizard, it felt related. I know there’s a lot of Wizard theories out in the Mystic Messenger fandom pertaining to 707 and V, and was surprised these two recent DLCs haven’t been talked about. Maybe Mystic Messenger is linked to the previous two games after all, but it’s not as overtly connected to the core of the game as the previous two? Maybe these DLCs proved that MM is established by desperate wishes, but without the primary wizard to help grant them, using a new ‘wizard’ or god-like character (that isn’t a part of RFA) instead?

I thought this was clever. If I’m correct, I’m not talking about how, “707 is the wizard!” or how, “V is a separate wizard scene in Dandelion and is evil!” I’m more talking about if Chertiz do a good job at linking MM to their previous two games with this new DLC, without making it a pivotal point for fans who haven’t played either.

 Hear me out.

 Dandelion’s “Ra rochu ra no so - In a Frozen Dream” is a beautiful song. I was in shock when I first heard it in the new Rika backstory DLC, and again in V’s after ending “Forgiveness” ending. I played Dandelion and Nameless (Cheritz’s two previous games to Mystic Messenger) after completing all Good/Bad routes of the core Mystic Messenger franchise. I went through both games after the core MM game and secret endings were released and played through, but before V or Ray’s stories were released. Definitely before V’s after story or Rika’s stories were even announced.

I always liked the Wizard theories despite not completely giving into them. After all, Chertiz’ first two games " Dandelion - Wishes brought to you” and “Nameless ~The one thing you must recall “ ended up both being inter-connected because they both utilized ‘The Wizard’ and his desire to make desperate wishes come true. As a player, you initially believed they were two separate Otome games made by the same creator, and then found out through the deep-story plot that they were inter-connected. Both games were created by a repeating villain, ‘The Wizard’. He had powers to reset time and change the fabrication of the world through his powers of desperate wishes.

In Dandelion, he became obsessive over repeating the story of the protagonist due to being in love with her and wanting to see her excited or in pain from her desperate wishes derived from love through different routes. The secret ending was how he decided to create a world for himself with the protagonist, thus relenting his powers as the wizard who could control the repeating reality of the game’s story.

Nameless was similar. The player could tell throughout the game that there was a mysterious figure ‘pulling’ the meta-strings of the Otome game as she desperately wished a new life. Every route the player pursued, their protagonist could recognize a similarity to a previous route they played. Soon in deep-routes it became apparent that there was an antagonist behind it all, wanting to see the protagonist romance every character so that they could gather ‘heart’ pieces and ultimately meet them, a person from her past. That antagonist could only become who they were due to the magic of (surprise), the exact same Wizard antagonist. Despite ‘Dandelion’ and ‘Nameless’ not being prequels or sequels of each other, they both shared one common character -- The Wizard. Only, the Wizard retired at the end of Dandelion. It appeared to fans that his story took place before his retirement during the sequel, Nameless.

Naturally, any previous fan of Chertiz games wanted a similar theme to Mystic Messenger. One of the perks to Cheritz was that they connected every game using this meta plot point, and Mystic Messenger had similar themes that could potentially connect the two previous games. Every character had a secret, desperate wish. Hell, it even mentioned the two previous games in passing dialogue. But it was never explored beyond minor Easter eggs.

But one thing that really separated Mystic Messenger was that it grew much more popular than Dandelion or Nameless. Many of these players never experienced ‘Dandelion’ or ‘Nameless’. Where both previous games had a few thousand fans, MM surpassed several million between IOS and Android phones. The fans who sought out Cheritz-wizard theories received backlash because of this and various other reasons. Theories about 707 being the Wizard of MM were brought up and criticized, as did V being an evil wizard. There were more subtle theories in the fandom about negative consequences about resetting the game, and how the protagonist might be the wizard (after all, she did have ‘reset’ abilities and could romance different routes), but even those were never overtly confirmed like how previous Cheritz games revealed plot in their prior games.

Me personally, having played all their previous games? I wanted to see MM inter-connected, and even head-canonned that it was. But none of the theories in the fandom made sense. I figured that so many new players in MM didn’t play previous games, that it may be vaguely hinted at at-most. But I still always wished that Cheritz would allow MM to elude to their meta ulterior-plot, if only because I loved a good meta storyline in games.

Cut to the new V After Ending and Rika’s backstory DLC.

This sort of setting falls in-line with the ‘wish’ dynamic of Dandelion and Nameless. Two examples:

Both showcased a Wizard making another person��s wish come true. Even in Nameless’s case, where the other person ended up being corrupted in their wish.

But in Dandelion, the Wizard gave up his powers. That plot point appeared at the very end of Nameless, where that same Wizard who was helping another character, Nameless himself, disappeared after having his own wish granted. It felt as if the super-powered character speaking to Rika wasn’t this same Wizard, but someone in the same realm of ulterior story. Whether it is the same timeline of the previous to games or just vaguely inter-connected, I think Chertiz did a great job at introducing a supernatural character that both linked MM to the previous two games, without confusing fans that had never played either of the past two games.

This character was different. They’re a girl-voice and gentle soul. Hell, maybe the fans who thought the MC was inter-connected was right, or maybe this god-like character is just another wizard in the realm. I don’t want to assume. Either way, she has a much more innocent approach to wishes than the Wizard in the last two games, but still just the same seeks to help Rika reach her desperate wish.

I love this approach. Using the same song and ‘wish’ plot point as the last two games, Cheritz managed to successfully link fans who have the Wizard theory to the previous two games. In the same breath, anyone who isn’t a fan of those theories or who doesn’t even know about them to relate them to God, just as Rika herself does.

Cheritz not realising after endings for more than a year and fandom forgives them for this shit? Why? Also they probably lost a lot of money since most of the fandom lost interest in mystic messenger and deleted the app. I just hope they are not delaying after endings because they are making rika route. But maybe then fandom would start be more critical of cheritz.

anyway honestly given how cheritz seems to have given up all means of communication with the fandom it would not at all shock me if some higher ups decided “hm, i see. we still have one character we can use to shill out a route for, no? excellent. let us commence beating this dead horse till it stops spitting out money, our reputation / narrative cohesiveness be damned!” and dropped a rika route for the sake of short term profits bc lets be real most folks hate her guts this would be a business disaster long term. 

it really is perplexing though. for a long time i really respected cheritz for appearing to listen to their fans and giving us fairly substantial updates to the story – like between the main games release and another story we had two dlcs and additional after endings. but between the end of saerans route and whatever the hell theyre planning next??? we’ve gotten a bunch of dumbass chat events that you can neither interact with or save. sure we’re given hrgls rewards n shit but to what end? i’ve exhausted all of the game’s real content and have no interest in replaying another story until the fucking conclusions are posted. because that’s the thing. while v’s ended more or less conclusively, we don’t see any fucking romance between him & the mc, so that whole aspect of their relationship is just missing from the story till the after endings come out. meanhile saeran’s got a lot of great moments that really build up his dynamic with the mc but the fucking story is not DONE, it was left on a CLIFFHANGER, and despite it being over a year since AS came out we have noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo idea when those after endings are gonna drop. it’s fucking stupid and frankly unfair to the people who BOUGHT another story – because let’s be real, AS is a shit ton more expensive, and that would be fine if it was, y’know, a fucking FINISHED PRODUCT.

A snow haired man walked out of a pet store and to hisfrustration, he had failed to choose the suitable pet yet again.

This isn’t workingwell for me at all, he thought with a hopeless sigh. As he was recentlyshoved back to the actual society, there were many things he was clueless aboutand one of them happened to be knowing a domestic animal firsthand. From beinga flower expert to a talented hacker, he was secretly embarrassed with his lackof knowledge about the real world.

He was snapped out of his thoughts when he felt a friendlypat on his shoulder. He turned to meet eyes of the man who was physicallyidentical to him, but with curly locks of crimson and a painfully wide cheerysmile.

“Don’t be so glum Saeran! There’s a handful of pet storesthat I know of in the vast city of Seoul,” his twin exclaimed in an encouragingmanner and the gloomy man named Saeran tried to smile in return but it came outwrong: a menacing grin to which the other twin, Saeyoung resisted not to flinchto.

The awkward moment was cut short when their silhouettes on thecemented ground grew and their surroundings glowed with a deep reddish-orange sunlight.Saeran furrowed his brows, feeling rather worried of making MC anxiously waitfor their return.

“Say Saeyoung, I think…we should head home-“

But his words fell deaf on his brother’s ears when suddenly,Saeyoung was pulled at yet another gibberish conversation with the cashierwhose work shift just ended. Saeran blinked his eyes repeatedly as he founddifficulty in catching up with the main topic due to Saeyoung always being aman-child who happened to be high on sugar and therefore, one must not expect aproper and consistent conversation with his twin.

Tired and plainly bored, Saeran averted his attention toelsewhere and soon discovered something rather interesting (and pitiful) at anearby alleyway. Without Saeyoung’s notice, Saeran headed towards the alleyway.

Saeran was deep in thought after entering the alleyway.

The alleyway was a place he used to frequent to work in theshadows and recruit believers for Mint Eye. Now, it felt nostalgic to him, notbecause of his work but rather the calm feeling it gave him.

He often saw how the alleyway was dimly lighted with thestreet lights being its source. The decaying scent of dumpster that never oncebothered him. And the silence was still soothing as ever, removing thetraumatizing memories of his childhood.

But then, at the entrance of an alleyway was where he met MC.From here to Magenta and then at his twin’s bunker until he finally set hisfoot at the outside: he made so many precious memories, both joyful moments andagonizing struggles with MC and there was more to come for their promisingfuture.

A tender smile adorned his youthful face as he recalledfurther.

Thud!

Shaking away his thoughts, he reacted strongly to thedistinctive sound – of an object or two falling on the ground – by jumping awayand prepared himself into a fighting stance.

The culprit could be a homeless person or a stray animal–

From the corner of his eyes, he noticed a silhouette of afeline darting away, widening their distance to keep itself safe and he felt theurge to follow it.

Saeran! If you wantsomething beyond your reach, you gotta catch it before it slips away, waswhat MC would often tell him whenever he hesitated.

With her advice still ringing inside his head, he bent hisknees to prepare its inexperienced legs to sprint after it like there was no tomorrowto which he did.

The chase ended quite shortly as the stray kitten halted inits tracks. Saeran followed soon after and took a brief breather to calm thequick pounding of his chest. To his surprise, it collapsed to the ground and henoticed how limp and injured its legs were. He stepped closer to the poor thingbut was stopped by its feeble hissing.

This stray…is so muchlike me.

Or rather, Saeran was reminded of his hostile self: Unknown. Heknew the hatred and agony of being abandoned by the people he loved and trustedthe most or so he thought once he found out the truth.

But it was thanks toMC that I found out that Saeyoung never once abandoned me…

Knowing his incapability of helping the unfortunate andwounded kitten, he thought deeply of MC: her kindness, her courage, herpatience, and her love. He smiled fondly of MC and then his courage grewsteadily.

He knelt with one knee, low enough to reassure the kittenthat he meant no harm and waited patiently. But with the winter being cruelthrough its freezing touch, Saeran slowly took off his scarf and folded it intoa makeshift cushion then he waited once more.

To his delight, it lowered its guard and slowly made way tothe cushion but it continued to fail to do so. Gently, he held the cat and laidit down to the cushion. The cat weakly purred after he took the courage to patit gently.

Now, I need to take itto a vet-

“Saeran! Saeran! Where are you?!”

The worried shouts of his twin echoed throughout thealleyway and had frightened the poor thing. It forced itself to flee away butit was calmed down once he gently patted it continuously. He sighed in reliefthat it trusted him.

“There you are! I was looking everywhere for you-“

Saeyoung paused as he examined the touching scene beforehim. His twin was patting a kitten for the first time! But his joy soon turnedto worry as soon as he saw its injuries.

“Saeyoung. We need to take it to a vet,” Saeran said in alow tone as he scooped it up to his chest. He wrapped his scarf firmly aroundthe cat and then turning to look at his confused twin.

“Oh, right! Thankfully, we know a certain formerly hopelesscollege student!”

Saeran shook his head in disapproval after his twin’s reply.

Is he talking aboutthat veterinarian kid named Yoosung Kim?

The main entrance was burst open and behind the doors washis beloved. After an hour or two of focusing all his attention on the ICU, hefinally looked away to greet MC with an affectionate smile. “MC, you’re finallyhere.”

“I read your text! Where’s the poor thing?!”

“Calm down. Yoosung is treating it as we speak,” the faint wrinkleson her forehead faded as worry left her exhausted body after hearing his reassuredreply. Without hesitation, MC wrapped her arms around his waist with a firmgrip. To her glee, she earned a pair of adorable flaming cheeks from Saeran andit darkened as MC sent a smile his way.

“Saeran…I’m really proud of you.”

And finally, her compliment was the final blow to bothtearing up in joy and having a long-lasting blush plastered to his cheeks.

“Brother! Here’s the adoption papers~!!”

The moment was broken with the sudden interruption ofSaeyoung and MC let go of him to read the papers with a perplexed expression.Saeran forced himself not to cast a glare at his seemingly-clueless brother.

“Adoption papers? Is it for the kitten?”

“Rightto, my soon-to-be-sister-in-law!”

And just then, Yoosung came with a slumbering kitten on hisarms. Saeran took the initiative to take the now adoptive kitten to his careand smiled at how peaceful the kitten looked. Without further ado, Saerancleared his throat to the two men for them to give him and MC some privacy towhich Saeyoung got the signal and dragged an unwilling Yoosung with him.

“To tell you the truth…I wanted to give this kitten to you.Will you accept it?”

Not taking a single moment, she nodded and said, “I am morethan happy to accept it. After all, you chose this one for me.”

I’ve made a Main Story timeline, based on the data I’ve collected in the Casual and Deep routes. I researched a lot about Korean age, and there’s a good reason why I chose to put only the twins’s and Yoosung’s age here; they’re the only ones whose ages are mentioned internationally at some point in the routes. This was quite an headache to do... my logic is under the Read More...

Jaehee Paradox: Jaehee’s Korean age doesn’t make sense. If her birthday is on 28th December then she should be younger 2 years than her korean age. You’re only one year younger than your Korean age after your birthday. The game is eleven days and doesn’t occur during the new year. Therefore, Jaehee should be 27 in Korean age, 25 in international age. In the game’s official profiles, they just subtract/add a year for everyone and leave it at that. In the official website, her international age is the same as her Korean one - while everyone else is one year “younger” than their Korean age - that’s impossible, Korean age and International age never catch up. You’re born with 1 year and always age on the new year. This means... Jaehee’s age is ambiguous, she could be 24, 25, 26...? Now you understand the reason I didn’t add the birth date of the characters whose age is only mentioned in Korean tradition. There’s a big dilemma with ages in the game. Depending on when you play the game a character could be 21 or 22. If you play in February, Yoosung is 19, if you play in April, he’s already 20, and since it’s supposed to happen in real time, Cheritz made the timeline vague on purpose so the player could feel the story is taking place on the same month and the same year they’re playing. Saeyoung’s age? I think he leaves Saeran when he was 15 years old kid because he says this on a flashback on day 8 of his route: “Saeyoung:Saeran and I aren't my father's sons. They say we can never be revealed. My father already married someone else and has a family. People think that he's a clean, good man. Saeyoung:Mom's been blackmailing him to reveal the truth and has been getting money from him for fifteen years, so she's worse...” When present Saeyoung says “seven years ago” he’s subtracting years from the year the game takes place, not from his age.

And I want to explain why I don’t think the following line is a blunder... this line happens on day 8 of his route too: “Seven: So... she saved these photos on the disc and sent it to me in secret. Seven: To congratulate my 20th birthday.“ His 20th birthday is his international one on June 11 since in Korean age you don’t have a birthday *per se*, you age in the New Year. Yes, Koreans actually use both international / korean ages and use the Korean one to fuck with us. But! If he’s 21 internationally and Rika disappeared two years ago, how is that possible? Shouldn’t he be 19?

But! if you only look at the years in the timeline, it does make sense, if Rika disappeared in 2014 and the story takes place in 2016, that’s two years ago and Saeyoung is yet to turn 22 years old in the year the game takes place. Jaehee’s korean age also doesn’t make any sense as I said previously so take Saeyoung’s Korean age with a grain of salt too. My personal theory is that the last episode of the Secret Endings is shortly before the twins 22nd Anniversary. It's likely that this was Cheritz “hidden intention” to have a reunion before their birthday. However they can’t make the timeline too obvious so the player can feel the game is taking place in real time. I’m also giving them a lot of credit here. I’m always baffled when they update the script and change some lines slightly only to make the English sound even more awkward lol The timeline of Another Story is different from Main Story Rika disappeared 2 years ago in the main story. In Yoosung’s good end... “V:My love 'Rika' unfortunately left this world two years ago, but it still holds that this organization was found with our love.“ Another Story takes place 1 year before main story, therefore... In Another Story, Rika should have disappeared 1 year ago, right? But Rika has only been gone for six months in AS instead of one year. So, AS is in another timeline, and it’s not just “set in the past”. Unless they plan on fixing the script to make both timelines consistent with each other... ? Anyway, I hope this will help a lot of players wrap their heads around the Casual/Deep Story timeline- I used lots research of my own but it’s still a work in progress. I plan to update in case I find new things. (Vanderwood is mentioned to only have been an agent for 7 years in the SEs, and only began working with Seven four years ago according to the Christmas DLC.) But... I don’t think Cheritz took their timeline as seriously as I’m taking it now. Another Story seems to take place in another pocket dimension of its own, where there’s slight differences in the timeline and differences in certain events. Sally for example, is never mentioned in AS! So really, even though I made that graph like I cracked the code... lots of things are up to the player’s interpretations. Cheritz is, without a doubt, not the most consistent when it comes to writing and it’s not hard to find several contradictions story-wise.

Merry Christmas!!!

Cheritz has done so much for us this Christmas with the 30% off on the Christmas DLC, Mint Eye Special believer package, and the announcement for the release of Ray’s route! I want to give a special thanks to Cheritz for making such a wonderful game and bringing so much cheer to fans around the world!

I want to thank you guys for all the Christmas wishes I have received, and for you guys being so supportive of me and my blog!

My gift to you guys!: I’ve written a mini-fic for Christmas morning with the RFA and minor trio. This is my first mini-fic scenario sort of thing so I really hope you guys like it! I hope this Christmas is wonderful for everyone, filled with joy and presents, and well spent with family! I love you guys, and once again, Merry Christmas!

RFA + Minor Trio: Christmas Morning

★ Yoosung ★

The hours seem to go by endlessly as I lay awake with my cheek squished against Yoosung's chest, the sound of his beating heart ringing in my ear. His arms are wrapped snug around me, keeping me close and secure, safe. I feel as if I’ve been awake for hours; I must have only gotten a couple hours of sleep. But it’s so hard to sleep knowing what awaits under the Christmas tree, and the joy that will come with it being Christmas Day. I’ve always been like a child who is awake at an abnormal time on Christmas because they are so excited.

I bite my lip as I listen to Yoosungs breathing. It isn’t steady like it's normally is when he is sleeping. Right now it is uneven and a little rigid. Being so close to his chest, it’s a bit hard to maneuver my head to look up, but I finally do and I see his eyes wide open, violet orbs staring directly out the window as bits of snow comes down. “Yoosung?” He looks down at me and grins, a small blush appearing on his face as he pets my hair a bit.

“Oh, cutie, you’re awake. I didn’t wake you, did I?”

I grin, nestling my face against his warm chest. “Of course not. How can I sleep knowing it’s Christmas and what pleasures await us,” I say. Yoosung makes a sound of agreement, his hand continuing to play with my hair. “You know,” I start a little nervous, “We could get it up? If you’d like.”

Yoosungs ministrations to my hair stops as he pulls back, looking down at me with the same childlike excitement I have. “R-really?” I nod and he grins. In an instant the both of us are bouncing out of the bed, rushing to put our slippers and robes on before running through the door and to the living room, giggling like children as we flop on the ground besides each other and start to rummage through our gifts.

♪ Zen ♪

“So, Happy Christmas. I love you, baby. I can see a better time, when all our dreams come true.” Zen’s soft singing pulls me out of my deep slumber. Slowly, my eyes peel open as the sun shines through the window on the 46th floor of the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. Zen sits on the edge of the bed, his hands by either side of my head as he looks down at me, grinning now that I’m awake. “Merry Christmas, Jagiya.”

“Merry Christmas, Zen.” He bends down for a gentle kiss, the carrase of our lips soft and warm against each others. He pulls back and smiles once again, his hand moving to stroke my cheek and push a few strands of hair behind my ear. I boop his nose, in which he chuckles. “Were you singing Fairytale in New York?”

“It fits the occasion, don’t you think? It’s Christmas morning, we’re in New York, we’re the perfect couple,” he says, his voice becoming quieter as he leans back down to kiss me some more. With my hands in his long silver hair, I greedily accept the kiss but pull him back up quickly.

“You have heard the part where they start criticizing each other, right?” You laugh as his eyes widen a little bit and his face becomes slightly pale as he thinks back to the song. He smiles impishly as he rolls next to me in the bed, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me against him.

“We’ll just ignore that part, ok? For the most part, it’s about two people who love each other. But anyways, what do you want to do first this Christmas? We could open each others present, go take a walk, get some breakfast first if you want.” I smile into his neck, shaking my head as I tighten my arms around him.

“How about we just lay here for awhile. I just want to hold you.”

Zen smiles, kissing the top of my head then resting his cheek on it, his large hand stroking my arms tenderly. “Of course, baby.”

❀ Jaehee ❀

I am surprised to wake up on Christmas, the clock on the dresser reading 6:23 am, and to see that the spot in the bed besides me is empty. Normally Jaehee is awake before me but I surely thought that it being Christmas she would sleep in or wait for me. But alas, she isn’t there, and the bed feels cold with her absence. I swing my legs off the bed, the duvet falling to the ground too, put on my fuzzy socks and go to find Jaehee.

As I thought, she is sitting by the tree with her legs curled up and a cup of coffee resting on her knees as she admires the sparkling lights and orbs that decorate it. I smile, quietly coming in and sitting besides her. She jumps a little but grins when she sees it is only me, and allows me to rest my head on her shoulder and wrap my arms around her. “Merry Christmas, Jaehee,” I whisper into her ear, watching as she shudders slightly.

“Merry Christmas, sweetie,” she says. “I’m sorry I didn't wait for you. I just really wanted to sit by the tree. This is the first real tree I have ever gotten, and it smells so nice and we did such a good job at decorating it too. It’s so peaceful.”

I nestle my cheek on her shoulder and take her hand in mine, enjoying it’s warmth and giving it a tight squeeze. “Don’t apologize. I know what you mean. It’s beautiful.”

Jaehee nods in agreement before reaching over to put her cup on the ground and moving off of the couch, making sure I don’t hurt myself as she moves. She sits on the ground and looks up at me, smiling as she reaches her hand out for me to take. I take it and she pulls me to the ground to join her. We both grin as we look at the presents under the tree, excitement now consuming the both of us. Jaehee grabs a gift wrapped in golden paper and hands it to me, her small form bouncing. “Open that one first, please. I’ve been so excited to give it to you since I first bought it. I think you will really like it.”

☂ Jumin ☂

If it wasn’t that Elizabeth decided she wanted to play at 5 in the morning, I would still be asleep, and yet here I am awake in the main foyer playing with Elizabeth in front of the tree. Playing with the cat, I realize that I probably would have awaken pretty early anyways. I’ve always been one to be up early on Christmas, unable to contain my excitement, even as an adult. I dangle a filament of tinsel in front of her, giggling as her little paws swipe at the golden thread. “You really like this, don’t you? I’ll talk to Jumin about getting you a toy that is a little something like this.”

As if on cue, I hear the door of our bedroom opening, and the sound of slippers flopping against the tile floors of the penthouse. I crook my head to the side and see a very tired Jumin come from behind the corner, his raven coloured hair disheveled and bags under his eyes. He wears a blue robe that hangs open barely covering his bare body. I pout, putting the tinsel down and walk over to Jumin. I wrap my arms around his neck and he places his hands on my waist, keeping me steady as he bends down to kiss the top of my head. “Honey, go back to bed,” I say. “You look exhausted.”

“Nonsense,” my stubborn husband says, peppering a few kisses to my face. “It’s Christmas morning, and I know how my love gets so excited. I cannot leave you alone at 5 in the morning, anxious and excited to open your presents. What kind of a husband would I be?”

I chuckle, taking his hand and leading him to the elegant tree we had professionally decorated. I would have preferred that the two of us decorated together, but I have to admit that the professionals who put up the large tree and decorated it with lights, tinsels and colourful ornaments did a wonderful job. “Look at this,” I say softly taking the tinsel in my hands once again. Elizabeth who lays on her stomach flips immediately onto her back as I wave the tinsel once again in front of her. “Here, you try. She loves it.”

Jumin takes the tinsel from me, grinning as his cat swats her paws back and forth and tries to bite at the tinsel. He puts it down after a minutes to delve his face into her stomach and kiss it, however, when he comes back up he grimaces as he coughs up white fur. I let out a loud laugh as I wrap my arms around him and pull him towards me to help get the fur out of his mouth. When all the fur is gone, he smiles and bends down to kiss me. He takes my hand in his and says, “Merry Christmas, my love.”

☺ Seven/Saeyoung ☺

BOOM!

I jolt awake in the bed at the loud booming sound that radiates through the house, and a few other crashing sounds becoming evident now that I’m sitting in the bed with full attention. At the sound of another loud bang I jump out of the bed and rush towards the sounds, tripping a couple times on clothes left on the ground. “Saeyoung! Saeyoung, are you ok-” I stop in my tracks at the sight of my boyfriend in the kitchen attempting to make breakfast. However, what strikes me is he is dressed as an elf and his poor brother cowards in the corner trying to hide himself since he is dressed up as Santa. “This is so embarrassing,” the younger twin mumbles into his hands. What should I have expected, I think to myself as I let out a tired laugh. Saeyoung just smiles and starts to jump up and down, running towards me and scooping me up in his arms, spinning me around. I can’t help but giggle. “Saeyoung, what are you doing?”

“Saeyoung? Who is Saeyoung? I am Hermey the elf! And I have ditched elf practice to come and take the place of your boyfriend who has lots of work to do this Christmas. So sad,” he says making the sign of the cross. “But please, feel free to treat me as if I were your boyfriend, the notorious 707. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind,” he says bending down to kiss me, but I turn my head so his lips make contact with my cheek. I laugh, pushing him back and going towards Saeran to help him with breakfast.

“I’m sorry, Hermey, but I can only kiss Saeyoung. I’m sure you understand.”

Seven frowns, his face becoming as red as his hair as he stutters now tongue tied. “What??? But I look just like him, don’t you think? What if I put mistletoe over our heads?” he says trying again, yanking me towards him with a grip on my waist. I smirk as I pry his hands off of me, wagging my finger in front of his face.

“I’m sorry, Hermey. But I will only kiss Saeyoung.” As I expected, he flings the elf hat off his head and reaches for me once again. Mocking surprise, I exclaim, “Saeyoung! That was you the whole time?” He just frowns and cups my neck, leaning down to kiss me. And this time, I do not stop him.

❆ V ❆

The smell of new paint and freshly brewed hot chocolate tickles my senses, pulling me away from my dreams where I danced with V till midnight Christmas Day. It takes a few moments for me to open my eyes, the thought of getting out of my warm bed almost dreadful until I remember it’s Christmas. I hear a soft chuckle coming from the end of the room. I finally open my eyes and see V by the window at an easel, painting the sunset outside. He rarely ever brings his paints into our room. I smile and try to push myself out of bed, but it’s so warm and comfortable that I just fall back down. He laughs again, this time getting up from the stool he set up by the easel, and coming to sit on the edge of the bed besides me.

“Sweetheart, do you know what time it is?” I shake my head and V smiles, taking out his phone and displaying the time. “11:30! I have never met someone who’s able to sleep until almost noon on Christmas Day. You never fail to surprise me, my sweet.” I grin, my hand weakly reaching to stroke his cheek.

“What can I say. I treasure sleep.”

“I made you some hot chocolate,” V says, cupping the back of my head and helping me to sit up. He then brings the cup to my lips, helping me to sip down the hot drink. The warm liquid trickles down my throat like a gentle caress. After having a few sips of the warm drink, I feel much more awake and lively, and now eager to go to the tree and see what awaits beneath it. “Ah, I thought that would wake you up. But first,” V pulls from behind his back a piece of mistletoe. “You have to kiss me. This will be my reward for waiting so patiently for you to wake up.”

I giggle, raising on my knees before V, wrapping my arms around his neck, my hands going into his soft, blue hair. I pull his lips down to mine and kiss him rather dominantly. He is not one to fight for power or control, so he lets me take the lead. Our tongues dance together till we finally pull back from each other, a string of saliva connecting us. “I hope that was a good enough reward.” He let out a deep chuckle before swooping me up, taking my hand and running with me down to the living room where the tree was.

☻ Saeran/Unknown ☻

It is the gentle caress against the crown of my head that lulls me from my slumber, the tender ministrations of Saerans thumb stroking the hair out of my shut eyes, and his warm breath that lightly graces my face as he bends down to kiss my cheek. His lips linger against my skin before he leans back up, the both of us smiling at each other with a crimson blush on our faces. He leans down again but this time places his lips against mine. The kiss is soft, gentle, and sweet. Unlike our other kisses, no one is fighting for dominance, our tongues are in no brawl; the kiss remains loving, and the only fight between our lips is the fight on who can give the other the most affection. His hands roam up my sides, gently pawing at my breasts and the soft skin of my tummy. “Merry Christmas,” he whispers against my lips. “I’m so glad that I can spend my first proper Christmas with you.”

“Oh, Saeran,” I whisper, my hand moving to touch his pinken cheek, then moving down his forearm. “I’m so happy to share this special day with you and the rest of our family. I didn’t make you wait too long, did I? Is Saeyoung awake?”

Saeran scoffs, smirking as he looks towards the door. “Of course he is. Santa came last night. What do you expect?”

I let out a screech then a laugh as Saeran suddenly lifts me up and throws me over his shoulder. Though blood rushes through my head almost painfully, it’s fun to be slung over him and carried down to the living room. He puts me down carefully besides the tree next to a pouting Seven who sits with his arms crossed staring at all the wrapped gifts. “Out of all the days you decided to sleep in, you decided it be Christmas? I’ve been waiting for hours!” The older twin exclaims before getting a smack to his head by Saeran.

“Be grateful you didn’t get coal, stupid brother. You’ve been a pain all year,” Saeran says sitting besides you. He reaches under the tree and pulls out a bag with a kitten in a santa hat on it. He smiles towards me, and hands over the gift. There is a glimmer in his mint eyes that I have never seen before, and I can’t help but wonder what just might be in the bag. “Open it. I was going to have you save it till last, but… I can’t wait that long.” Slowly, I pull out the red tissue paper and I see a small blue box. I look up at him, my eyes wide, but he just continues to grin. Is it…? I take out the box and hold it in my hand, my thumb rubbing the soft velvet. I pop open the box, and like a switch had been turned on I begin to bawl as I see the diamond ring and the carving in the gold that reads, My Paradise. I look up at Saeran to see tears running down his own face. “Will you marry me?” I nod my head and fling my arms around him. When all the rest of the gifts are opened by an eager Seven and a tearful us, Saeran slips the ring on my ring finger, and I think to myself that I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas.

✌ Vanderwood ✌

Across the room, hanging on the flower patterned wall hangs a wooden clock, carved with birds and over naturist materials. The clock just strikes 3:07, and yet I lay in bed wide awake besides my husband who sleeps soundly with his back towards me. I turn to look at him, and I smile as I listen to his steady breathing. As much as I love to watch him sleep and to see him so peaceful, I cannot wait any longer. I turn on my side and wrap my arm around his torso, giving him a tight squeeze. His steady breathing stops, and I know he is awake. “Vanderwood?”

“Go back to sleep, MC,” he snaps, his voice husky.

"Vandy, it's Christmas-"

"It's 3 in the morning."

I groan, rolling back onto my back and crossing my arms. I continue to listen the the ticking of the clock, hoping that it will lull me to sleep, but alas it doesn’t and I still lay wide awake till 3:15. I turn my head back towards Vanderwood, and I notice that his breathing hasn’t gone back to it’s anchored rhythm. He suddenly rolls over to face me, a face the mirrors the infamous meme of Grumpy cat, but at the same time I can see love and adoration in his eyes. He lets out a sigh as he outstretches his arm and pulls me close to him, flush against his chest. “Instead of listening to the clock, listen to the beat of my heart. You will find yourself becoming tired, and you’ll fall back asleep. Before you know it, it will be Christmas morning, and you will be opening your presents, drinking hot chocolate, and we will be by the fire.”

I close my eyes and nuzzle my face into his warm chest. His arms tangle around me, holding me close and keeping me secure against him. The beating of his heart soothes me with it’s drum-like sound. “Just focus on that,” I hear him say again, his voice gradually quieting and he falls back into his slumber. I close my eyes, and I can finally feel myself growing tired and descending into siesta.

Just as the both of us are beginning to fall back asleep now wrapped in each others arms, my head tucked underneath his chin and my arms wrapped around the torso, I hear the creaking of our door opening. Vanderwood mumbles under his breath, “Oh for fucks sake,” just as our two children jump on top of us screaming at the top of their lungs, “It’s Christmas!!!!!”

The MysMe fandom: I really hope they don't hurt 707 or V in Ray's Route!! A Good End can't happen without reconciliation with his family!

Me, severely sleep deprived, brain going crazy:

putting my thoughts under the read more for length reasons. I actually had something like this forming (and partially written) when I first played V’s route, but now with Ray’s route on the horizon and me, out another $100 bc VIP thanks cheritz just take all my money I can’t get the Fear out of my head.

Hopefully this is all just wild speculation on my behalf :’)

I’ve only Good Ended YS☆, 707 (+ S01/02), & V so far, as well as some of the xmas DLC, but Vanderwood has always tied in with 707, and 707 always ties in with Saeran, so it’s safe to assume that we’ll get more Vanderwood interaction. Now the question is, to what extent? In the S01 (if I remember correctly. its been a while) VW kidnaps Saeran mistaking him for 707. In Another Story, VW was proven to be a huge help with detoxing w/o alerting the authorities.

In my V playthrough, I couldn’t stop entertaining the thought of 707 discovering confirming Ray’s identity, and I was left feeling a bit empty at the lack of closure on their behalf. Of course, now with an upcoming Ray route, things change.

As agents, they can’t have familial ties, and if the boss wished it, VW would normally have to get rid of Saeran altogether. This was such a different case, though. They get rid of liabilities, but Saeran would be such an asset. The hacker who gives 707 a run for his money? An exception can be made.

This is where it can go one of two ways. They could all end up in the agency, probably with certain rules and check-ins they have to follow, but relatively “safe”. On the other hand, would Saeran even want to be an agent? 707 has been pretty clear about the shithole it really is, and even VW jumped at the chance to escape when the opportunity presented itself.

VW has always played a bigger role when the twins are involved, so it would make sense that they’d grow on him. Agents don’t have family, but he’s been watching over 707 for years. Even though it was mainly for work reasons, he did stop by during xmas and could tell that the holidays are rough on him.

[ In V route, we had the wonderful chat with him using 707′s phone, which reminds me, there are 9 Contacts. 5 for RFA, add in V, Rika, and Ray........ Cheritz are you hinting at Vanderwood calls? ]

Yeah, VW thinks they’re all insane and he didn’t sign up for any of this shit, but he also kinda thinks that this is what family is supposed to feel like.

So when they’re escaping, it’s frighteningly reminiscent to SE1 when 707′s arm was grazed, but Vanderwood was never meant to take that bullet his body just moved before he could think and–

and I think it’s time for me to stop now.
