Star Wars: Andor Season 2 Episodes 10-12 Review

"Make It Stop"

This arc begins with the Empire inevitably finding out about Luthen's operations on Coruscant. What I wasn't expecting was Luthen willing to kill himself to keep his information out of the Empire's hands, which leads to why this episode is so great. This episode finally details Kleya's backstory, and why her and Luthen have a deep connection. Yet again, this episode showcases some powerhouse storytelling by reflecting the real world, by showing Kleya witness the murder of innocent civilians. The quote by Luthen in the flashbacks "We fight to win. That means we lose. And lose and lose and lose... until we're ready. All you know now is how much you hate. You bank that. You hide that. You keep it alive until you know what to do with it," was so powerful. The ending of Kleya committing euthanasia to Luthen honestly had me in tears, it was so well executed.

"Who Else Knows?"

We finally get to see K-2S0 in action in this series, and while I do wish we saw more adventures with Cassian and K, the story being told holds more precedence. There is tension throughout this entire episode, wondering if Kleya will survive, or if she'll suffer the same fate that Luthen did. The scene between Dedra and Krennic was also interesting, showing that he treats his subordinates just like how Vader treated him in Rogue One. The final fight scene with K-2S0 and the Imperial Guard was so well choreographed. If I had one nitpick, though, it'd be that one of the effects of K throwing one of the Imperial officers wasn't implemented well enough, making him seem kind of weightless if that makes any sense. But the rest of the episode honestly makes up for that one nitpick.

"Jedha, Kyber, Erso"

Perfect series finale, if I'm being honest, tying up all the loose ends for a bunch of characters leading up to Rogue One. One scene that really stood out to me, though, is the scene of Mon Mothma talking to the hologram of Saw Gerrera, which is a callback to their dynamic in Rebels, while also perfect setup for Saw's inclusion in Rogue One. Cassian doing right by Luthen despite what he did to him was really admirable, showing that he's matured since then, and that it takes more than our personal feelings if we are going to overthrow this oppressive regime. The final shot of this show yet again brought me to tears, showing that Cassian never knew he was a father. I'm going to need a minute.

liste n ok i understand objectively that, from a show-making perspective, choices like giving some of the B1 droids in clone wars things like coloured paint or markings is to easily distinguish previously referenced droids, and that giving them snappy dialogue like “ i hate my job” and “he’s in charge … guess i’m in charge now…” is a tonal thing bc the show is largely comedic and also aimed at i think preteens, but that combined with other droid characters in sw like R2, threepio or K-2S0 makes me really want to create like. battle droid culture. like the battle droids dont seem to want to be there, at least not the B1s, so idk. what if they unionised? why not droid uprising? droid religion? what would that look like i wonder… do they think fondly of the droid production factories or are they glad to be rid of it? are their underground droid-run clinics to jailbreak separatist coding? do they yearn to be flesh and blood, or simply to live in a galaxy where one does not need to bleed to deserve respect. they are shown to be capable of emotion and opinion and i now hold affection for them idk also christ but i feel strongly about the fact that the droids dont want to die. they are shown to be distressed in the face of jedi bc they do not want to die. one of them says “wait we can surrender?” before being shot down and its a gag but holy shit because they do not want to die. im mentally ill abt this, and im so fucking close to detroit: become humaning these fucking goofball butt of the joke moron robots

So, Andor, just...beautiful cinematography, definitely some interesting characters, some good storytelling in there

but yeah, not accepting any of it as canon

(not like I have an easy time accepting any material put out by Lucasfilm as canon, I don't really believe in their timeline)

I kinda hate how the last three eps especially were a hamfisted 'this is exactly everything leading up to Rogue One'

All I really wanted was just Cassian and K-2S0 doing dirty work for the Rebellion and we got like five minutes of that

Cassian Andor & K-2S0

To continue a bit with the Star Wars themed post, Cassian Andor it’s one of my favourite characters of Star Wars because he is the representation of the unknown heroes of the rebellion, his whole story gives me a lot of comfort even though it doesn’t end well but I’m definitely a hardcore Andor (series) fan too besides liking and rewatching Rogue One everytime I have the opportunity to do so. K-2SO personality gets me everytime lol

Also Diego Luna!!!

As a (half) Mexican myself (living in Mexico for almost my whole life) I have always admired Diego throughout the years, I’ve always looked up to him and he inspires me so much, he puts lots of love and absolutely adores being in the Star Wars franchise, and why wouldn’t he? It’s a HUGE DEAL!

Anyways love this guys and also… thumbs down to procreate for erasing half of my process of drawing 🙄🙄🙄

Spoilers for the latest One Piece Chapter. But not, like, actual thoughtful analysis or anything...

So Gunko, right?

Fuckin' love this character design now that we can fully see it. Wish she was wearing pants, or shorts, or a skirt, or anything, but the weird K-2S0 ankles to the baggy sleeves that turn into her weird arrow weapons. The massive cape and the bandage-y mask. I don't really know why I love her so much, but fuckin' Gunko is awesome, but her name is fucking Gunko. What the hell? Does that mean anything? Is it just stupid?

My phone is r2d2 and my old computer was bb8 which I found funny bc of the sizes being switched but I can’t think of a comically smaller droid then bb8 to continue the bit bc this computer is huge
