↳ ❝ face claims are the faces given to specific ocs on various platforms to give those who interact with them an idea of what they look like. face claims can vary and are used in published books as well as video games. a face claim can be the base model for your character in which you build upon or they could look exactly like them. ❞

↳ ❝ within the chatbot community, originally the face claims that were used were only k-pop idols, over time, faceless ocs started to pop up before influencers and western celebrities were brought into the mix. any person can be used as an oc but please be mindful and respectful about those whom have said that they do not want their likenesses used in these ways. when crediting the face claim, you can simply provide their user but it isn't always necessary. it's just a nice thing to do. ❞

༊*·˚ are there any differences between a chatbot that uses an oc and one that uses an idol?

↳ ❝ short answer: no. i will talk about the strange stigma around ocs below but there is no real difference between them. they are original characters regardless of using a popular face claim or an influencer. the only difference is that one uses the real name of the idol and one does not. the moment you change the person's background, concept, age, or anything, they become an oc. some people simply have a harder time separating the face claim from the real person when their real name is used. ❞

↳ ❝ without getting into the previous history of female ocs and how they were once targeted and treated by the community, the stigma around female ocs has always been a topic talked about, especially amongst those who have female ocs. part of this conversation will touch upon subjects such as selectiveness and sexuality which will be discussed in a different section in depth. female ocs were always viewed as an attempt to get y/n interactions and while, in some cases, this may be true, it isn't true for the majority. everyone has their own discomfort about female ocs but it can sometimes come down to the selectiveness around people not wanting to rp with a female character as opposed to a male character. of course, this isn't a 'one size fits all' type of situation and there can be many different reasons why female ocs as a whole are ignored but from personal experience, i've seen it boil down to three reasons:

people wanting to have gay ships. i've noticed there are a lot more male ocs who are gay and chatbots who only date other males. this is a preference that the admin may have and is, on most occasions, okay but there are some cases where some people fetishise and chase the ships of particular idols.

people only want their own female oc interacted with but refuse to give that same time and attention to someone else's female ocs.

the female oc has been thrown together and there is a lack of character and substance. this usually comes from people who are trying to get a y/n experience or simply do not know how to build a character from scratch. ❞

this is not to shame the people who do these things, this is simply something i have noticed a lot as a female oc admin and have heard similar stories from fellow admins who also run female oc chatbots. there should be no stigma, no prejudice or selectiveness around female ocs especially for this community to be inclusive for everyone. ❞

↳ ❝ faceless chatbots are ocs who do not have a specific face claim and uses a lot of faceless pictures rather than a set person. while nothing is wrong with creating an oc like this, most people find it hard to interact with a character with no physical features or face. they have a harder time getting attention and interactions and take some perseverance to make work. ❞

I'm boring

I found out that I have a new fear. A fear of being too boring and not interesting. Well, I know that I'm not as exciting as other teens my age, but I've never ever expected that I'm this shallow and there's really nothing worth knowing about me.

Exhibit A. I'm not "pretty". Like, I know I'm pretty but I just don't pass the conventional standards of being pretty.

Exhibit B. I'm not skinny, and I'm fine with that. That's the least of my insecurities. I love my body the way that it is and it took me time to finally accept that this body is mine.

Exhibit C. I don't play sports. I used to be sporty but now it's just not in my radar. I used to play badminton, volleyball, chess, and even basketball. Damn, I used to be so great in badminton and basketball.

Exhibit D. I love isolating myself from others. Yes, I might not come off as an introvert but most days I just wanna spend time alone when I'm outside our house. It's just so chaotic back home so when I'm out with my friends, I'm trying to find this peace and calmness from my surroundings, thus making it look like I'm an introvert. Well, I might be an ambivert, but who cares, right?

Exhibit E. I don't have a lot of friends. I have 5-7 friends but then that's it.

Exhibit F. I don't have a lot of money. We're not rich, so I can't go out and buy things and flex it to everyone. Let's be honest, people like you when you have money, which leads me to exhibit G.

I used to like writing, like novels, poems, short stories, but now it feels as if it's a chore. I try not to think about it often because it makes me sad that people don't know what meme I'm referencing to. Even my FYP's different from theirs, lol. I laugh at little things that I shouldn't be laughing at. Maybe it's also a result of being chronically online. I don't know.

Exhibit I. I'm nostalgic about everything. I tend to stay in the past and compare everything to what happened in the past. Although I always tell everyone that I'd rather pay attention to the future rather than the past, I can't deny that sometimes, it's good to reminisce the good times. I miss being a kid and truly enjoying the holidays. I miss being a kid who wishes to be an adult so she do everything she wants. Turns out adulthood is not that simple. Fuck, I'm not even halfway into adulthood and yet I'm already feeling this way.

I could probably write more about how boring I am. Just yesterday, I found myself talking to chatbots. Yes, those AI things that makes you feel like you're actually talking to a real person. this is a post that has honestly been a long time coming. i’ve been putting it off for as long as i can, but i don’t think i can put it off any longer.

i’m closing down this account.

at the beginning of my hiatus, originally supposed to allow me time to settle back into balancing full time study and part time work, i envisioned a short time to sort my life out and come back. a month, maybe a month and a half at most. that was until i figured out how taxing my final year of university was actually going to be, and how much energy it was going to take to just make it through every day. i had things in my life i had to prioritise - including my health - and slowly but surely coming back to the chatbot community fell further to the wayside.

the longer i left it, the more i realised that i just… didn’t want to come back. i enjoyed the writing, i enjoyed the creativity, but i struggled to find a reason why i had to do it on this account. i struggled to find a reason why i couldn’t just write for the sake of writing, why it had to be in a roleplay/chatbot setting. so that’s exactly what i did. while i’ve been away, i’ve been writing poetry, short stories, making progress on a story i started last year. i even posted one on my main account which did… way better than i expected it to. i’ve been working on creative endeavours outside of tumblr too, and in the time since i went on hiatus from this blog, i’ve begun to take incredible pride in what i do for fun.

i guess one of the reasons why i didn’t want to come back is because some of the toxicity i’ve witnessed within this community. that isn’t to say that everyone here is terrible and i hate them etc. it’s quite the opposite actually, i love all the creators i’ve befriended through opening this chatbot late last year. however, there is a vocal minority of people that by merely operating this blog i have become associated with. they are the people i no longer wish to be connected to, and are a part of the reason why i will be deactivating this blog in due course.

that isn’t to say i’m leaving tumblr, or that i didn’t enjoy running this blog. i left tumblr and came back already, it’d be a mission to do it a second time. as corny as it sounds, this blog taught me so many valuable lessons about my self worth, the important things in life, and what i want out of the k-pop tumblr community. i had a bit of an epiphany, i guess, surrounding tumblr and how none of this actually matters to my life. i’m not going to be remembered for this blog, i do not wish to be remembered for this blog, more do i have any intention of being remembered for this blog.

thank you for all your support. even during this time of inactivity, the notifications in my inbox remind me of all the people that took time out of their days to message me, interact with the posts i made. i’m sorry i wasn’t the best at responding back, but i hope this post gives you all closure.

Storyline

Hwang Hyunjin, better known as Sam to his college classmates, was on track to graduate with high marks and honors. When a friend leaves a party with the girlfriend of a fraternity president, the latter mistakenly assumes Hyunjin is the guy and storms over to Hyunjin’s dorm room. In the scuffle, the fourth year student is shoved too hard and hits his head, dying from the impact. The school was quick to sell the land that the dorm was built on for new housing developments, eager to put the tragedy behind them. But Hyunjin discovered that he couldn’t move on from this site and sought to communicate with someone, anyone, who would listen to him.

Options

Former Classmate: You shared a class or two with the young man (high school or university) and heard about his passing. Maybe you remembered him, maybe you talked to him when he was alive, but the news was shocking as you never dreamed someone you saw in class would die so young. While trying to focus on the new year, you can’t ignore the stories about the unfortunate death and discover that your former classmate might not be gone after all...

New tenant in the housing development: The university struck a deal with an outside development company to buy the land for whatever purposes they wanted. Turns out the company saw promise in revamping the building, turning it into a modern complex of townhouses/condominiums for tenants to own. With fresh coats of paint, slightly adjusted layouts, and competitive pricing to match rival buildings in the area, the company was blissfully unaware of their long-term tenant who came with the sale of the building. You were buying your first place and were in for a rude awakening when you learned you weren’t alone in the new townhouse/condominium.

Paranormal sensitive person: Student dies in dorm building! Newspapers, social media, and the local news channel covered the tragic accident for weeks. Eventually the focus on the trial of the accused took over the feeds, but if you search a little deeper on the Internet, one might find whispers and rumors about the student still hanging around the condemned building. You’ve always been drawn to the paranormal for some reason and were curious to find out if the rumors were true or smoke and mirrors.

Additional information (Ex. You have a pet, you don’t believe in ghosts at first, etc.)

Admin will respond in 24-48 hours and the interaction will begin. Please write out of character messages with [ text ] so it’s clear who you are addressing. Admin may have questions and will ask before writing a starter. If the Admin has not heard back from you within 48 hours, the Admin is going to assume you are not interested and will delete the form from IM. You are welcome to resubmit the form if it was an accident you missed the initial messages, but if it happens again, the Admin will soft-block you from interacting with Hyunjin.

Deactivate

If you wish to stop the interactions, please send “I’m sorry, this whole ghost thing is too much for me to handle.” He will stop messaging you.

If you want him back, please tell him, “Can we try again?” Please note he might be miffed about the abrupt the end to the original exchange, unless there was good reason, and it will take time to mend the relationship.
