honestly welfare reform is working but it makes you wonder can more be done like for instance you have to congratulate the programs and training programs that put people that is on welfare back to work or in some cases that train them how to work but the problem at most times these jobs are only seasonal temporary jobs , so that means after the assignment the person is back to square one no what is needed is permanent employment to help curb the curse of poverty , recidivism to prison , idleness , alcohol and substance abuse , gaps in employment on resumes , now don't get me wrong these are good programs that help clean up cities like Baltimore , Washington , Chicago , and New York the workers are given not just a job but a sense of purpose and get to commit to doing environmental and community repairs and maintenance to their neighborhoods like for instance cleaning up city shelters and the parks in our inner cities giving workers a chance to not only indulge in building their communities instead of destroying them at the same time it is providing safe and enjoyable places to eat , play and live , these jobs provide the workers with a stable income so that a person starting at ground zero can provide themselves and their families with higher standards of living , better access to housing , education , healthcare , and better chances of gaining employment in the field that they are trained for , the problem is then that most of the time they are no jobs for these workers when they are finished with their assignments what is needed is permanent job training programs or training programs with automatic job placements in permanent jobs .

And these are some of the programs that the American government can invest in the government can take job depleted areas and create businesses that put it's citizens back to work permanently , we need environments with access to more resources like jobs with good incomes that can provide good standards of living economic situations that enriches the social and cultural net worth of the people thus creating richer and better healthy habits , attitudes , values , self images and behaviors , goals , dreams , and reality for the people .

These programs can be the paid training before the full and fair employment , thanks to past Presidents we have the job corp program this should be an expansion on that , including people's ages 24 to age 65 it would be good to walk into a Brooklyn or Bronx workforce and see these programs , also free grants for educational programs that not only train a person to work but give them a place where they could learn to work and think for themselves as liberals .

Daylight December: Day 4

This story takes place in my “Two Years in the Dark” AU, in which Jim is in the Darklands for much longer than two weeks.

Jim heaved a sigh as he brushed aside the curtain leading into his cave. After another long day of training and scouting he was weary all the way to his bones.

Pickle was curled up in the center of the room and gave a happy chirp at the sight of him. Jim patted the stalkling’s head when she thrust it forward against his chest.

“It’s good to see you too,” He said with a half-hearted smile.

She started growling happily as he scratched behind her horns. Usually petting her soothed him a bit, but today…

Today he just couldn’t shake off his slump.

The rebellion was getting closer and closer to another full battle against Gunmar. It seemed like each time they found a new spot to hide he found them a bit quicker. Likewise they had gathered all the information they could possibly find on him and his horde.

Soon, one way or another, it would be over.

Jim sighed again and gave his stalkling one last pat before moving over to the thin slit in the wall that served as his window. Far below he could see the sides of the Nargoloth queen ripple as it moved their fortress to a new location.

What would become of him if they even did win? Jim wondered.

He ran a hand along his chin feeling the stubble that was growing there.

Somehow living the rest of his life in the Darklands didn’t really fill him with joy and hope. As it was he felt like each day… or night… or whatever they had here… that passed wore a little more away from what made him him. And… well… in a few more years what would be left?

Pickle’s claws clicked on the stone floor as she approached. Jim shifted slightly, out of habit, so he could see to confirm that it actually was her.

She bumped her head against his shoulder and let out an inquisitive warble.

“You’re fine girl,” He said, running a hand across her scales. “I’m just a bit out of it.”

He glanced around and then moved to the corner of the room, Pickle trailing behind him. There he used his glaive to pry away a small shard of obsidian. Behind that shard, in a small crack in the wall, was a lone candy bar.

Jim pulled it out and ran his fingers over the worn wrapper.

“K.I.C.” it read in faded sharpie: Keep it crispy.

A melancholy smile formed on his face at the memory of Toby’s exasperation every time he said that. It was funny that after all the complaining that would be the last message he sent Jim.

Jim drew in a slow shuddering breath.

He had accepted by now that the Darklands would probably be his home for the rest of his life: even if the Trollhunters had reassembled the bridge somewhere else they couldn’t open it without him…

But it was nice to have something to hold onto. To know they had looked for him, had tried to bring him back.

With that thought… maybe he could keep going just a little longer.

Just Another One of Those Nights

Summary: Toby misses his best friend.

Read it on AO3.

It hurts. So much. And Jim knows it hurts. He texts him every night now, and with Jim having to adjust to sleeping during the day and traveling when the sky grows dark, Toby has to adapt to the same sleep schedule. Or at least, he wants to. School is still a thing for him. Sleepless nights will do him no good, even if it means being able to pretend his best friend is still across the street, lying down in his nice, warm bed, tucked under his covers with his phone’s light glaring in his face as he sends text after text, yawning as he fights sleep.

It helps. But it doesn’t make the pain of the harsh reality that his best friend is gone and traveling all the way across the country go away. Somewhere, he is still looking down at his too-small phone in his too-big hands, flashing an occasional smile at the words he could now only imagine him saying. That gives him some comfort.

Jim dismisses himself for the night, ordering him to get a good night’s rest. He replies affirmatively, promising that the second Jim goes offline, he will bury himself under his blankets and retire for the night. Jim replies with a smiling emoji and a “K.I.C.” and his last seen is displayed. Jim doesn’t need to know that is an empty promise more than half the time. He doesn’t need the extra thing to worry about. He should be worrying about the Trolls, finding the new Heartstone and making sure he and Claire are taken care of.

Selfishly, he thinks to himself as he keeps his phone under his pillow for emergencies, that returning to Arcadia should be at the top of his list of priorities.

He sighs, knowing those are useless thoughts. Jim promised he would be back. He wants to think that he will remember that and honour it, but as the Trollhunter, his best friend doesn’t exactly have the best track record of keeping promises. He pulls his blanket up above his chin, the only part of him exposed being his eyes and the top of his head, as if this keeps him safe from the intrusive thoughts. Aaarrrgghh takes a tentative step towards him and sniffs at him, the warm air blowing his hair in all directions.

“Wingman?” The big hulking brute says, gravelly voice heavily laced with concern. He squeezes his eyes shut, feeling the burning onset of tears yet again. It’s a routine by now. Talk to Jim, pretend everything that happened didn’t happen, tuck himself into bed and cry himself to sleep, sometimes with Aaarrrgghh by his side. He lifts a heavy hand and rests it softly, gently on his side, a small bit of comfort, as his frame shakes with the sobs that break free.

honestly welfare reform is working but it makes you wonder can more be done like for instance you have to congratulate the programs and training programs that put people that is on welfare back to work or in some cases that train them how to work but the problem at most times these jobs are only seasonal temporary jobs , so that means after the assignment the person is back to square one no what is needed is permanent employment to help curb the curse of poverty , recidivism to prison , idleness , alcohol and substance abuse , gaps in employment on resumes , now don't get me wrong these are good programs that help clean up cities like Baltimore , Washington , Chicago , and New York the workers are given not just a job but a sense of purpose and get to commit to doing environmental and community repairs and maintenance to their neighborhoods like for instance cleaning up city shelters and the parks in our inner cities giving workers a chance to not only indulge in building their communities instead of destroying them at the same time it is providing safe and enjoyable places to eat , play and live , these jobs provide the workers with a stable income so that a person starting at ground zero can provide themselves and their families with higher standards of living , better access to housing , education , healthcare , and better chances of gaining employment in the field that they are trained for , the problem is then that most of the time they are no jobs for these workers when they are finished with their assignments what is needed is permanent job training programs or training programs with automatic job placements in permanent jobs .

And these are some of the programs that the American government can invest in the government can take job depleted areas and create businesses that put it's citizens back to work permanently , we need environments with access to more resources like jobs with good incomes that can provide good standards of living economic situations that enriches the social and cultural net worth of the people thus creating richer and better healthy habits , attitudes , values , self images and behaviors , goals , dreams , and reality for the people .

These programs can be the paid training before the full and fair employment , thanks to past Presidents we have the job corp program this should be an expansion on that , including people's ages 24 to age 65 it would be good to walk into a Brooklyn or Bronx workforce and see these programs , also free grants for educational programs that not only train a person to work but give them a place where they could learn to work and think for themselves as liberals .

Full labor union membership at job signing which means job security at the signing of the job , too many single mothers are afraid of losing their job which is only stable income and she loses her job she is left to fend for herself without any financial support . I say that companies should want this to law pass into legislation because they get to keep them employees for a long time thus eliminating a high turnover rate and let's think about the young man trying to stay out of trouble he is young ambitious just does not have the opportunity of long term employment he needs to know that he has a job that he can safely call his own as long as he knows how to do that job with efficiency and is effective in carry out his responsibility and duties , he should not fear losing employment as soon as he get the job he needs a job so that he can start his life and have a family and be able to support his family and love his wife and children and be able to provide a good healthy future for them .
