hear me out okay?? hear me out–
phil as karlsson and dan as junior.
i just want to make phil into an eccentric flying guy who lives on the roof to be honest. he fits the vibe. and they both love sweets.
dan is. well. isnt the youngest in the family and isn't blond nor blue eyed, but im just gonna fit him into this role
genuinely might draw them like that at some point

Even more palettes for "Skullgirls".
I'll start with Painwheel as Karlsson (mostly based on the Soviet cartoon adaptation) and Ms. Fortune as Mr. Mistoffelees from "Cats".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made palettes in Photoshop for D. Violet, Venus and Aeon, based on Sailor Venus, Sailor V and Sailor Pluto respectively (it all made sense in my head). Since then, the crimefighter and goddesses were added to the Palette Editor.

Finally, there's another palette, based on Captain Roger Wilco from "Space Quest 5". I already did similar recolours for Adam and Beowulf. Umbrella's hat coloured to represent Spike the Face-hugger, and Hungern was supposed to be referencing Droole (the best guy).

Remember… (Astrid) Lindgren is best known for her children's book series featuring Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, and the Six Bullerby Children, and for the children's fantasy novels Mio, My Son, Ronia the Robber's Daughter, and The Brothers Lionheart. — Wikipedia

Fandom Problem #5212:
Sometimes I'm thankful that some of the things I love are not popular in English speaking places. I mean sure, it would be cool if I had more people to talk to about Karlsson on the roof, but from what I've seen in another fandoms, it would be joining the fandoms with age discourses because of the title character. And after the mess of the Invader Zim fandom is I don't need this. I just want to enjoy my funny little cyborgs in peace.

hihi! I was wondering what were some common Russian cartoons for children to watch? tysm!
Oh my god, so many! It's a whole culture! To name a few popular ones, Prostokvashino, Cheburashka, the Kitten Named Woof, Nu Pogodi (Just You Wait), Winnie the Pooh, the Plasticine Cow, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, Armenian cartoons (Maslenitsa, the Blue Sea etc.), the Town Musicians of Bremen.
Check out my tag, Soviet Cartoons.

Why is it that every time I read Karlos I think about Karlsson on the roof.. Sooo, I think you didn't say much about that bunny, sooo can you tell to us more?? (I'm sorry if there are mistakes here, I'm not English and I write through a translator)
Although I have never heard of that thing, it is indeed easy to think of it lmao
Oh, Karlos, this Bunny, has a lot of things, I can’t say too much...👀
But the information currently known will be what Elisk knows about them! (Elisk doesn't even know if they are humans or robots, or where they came from.)
Karlos is the one person who seems to have a full understanding of "Defectum", other than the governments of those countries. and is immune to the infection they spread.
They also seemed to know Elten, who was the adoptive father of Elisk after escaping from the detention center, but Elten could not see them.

Part of me wants to say that Astrid Lindgren deserves better than Olle Hellbom and the part of me detests contemporary Nordic film enough to acknowledge that he probably was as good as it got in the seventies.
Anyway, do yourself the favour and read Astrid Lindgren (nota bene: spoken from the background of being reared on the translation she allegedly liked more than her own, RIP Jo Tennfjord) and if you have to watch "Ronia: The Robber's Daughter", do the Ghibli version even if it's slow AF. (this is why you should read it). The only thing the LA version does better is the singing, but then again the singing is epic
in conclusion, with Nordic Literature being the It thing:
Please broaden your horizons and read Swedish-language children's literature beyond the Moomins. Please read Astrid Lindgren.
(this post was officially inspired by remembering tha Karlsson on the Roof happened and me wondering why)

I have always wondered how they translated Karlsson on the Roof to english.
Because the main character is called Lillebror (Little brother) in the og language. Obviously it’s just his nickname, but I was curious if the english version still calls him Little Brother.
Found an english translation at the book store.
HIS NAME IS SMIDGE.
SMIDGE.

oh no the last post was meant to go on my main but since im here i guess i have to add something original to it:
the principles of biochemistry was more like the turning point, when getting my degree, i finally connected the dots between physical/chemical laws of nature to the messy reality of being alive. a lot of people don't like chemistry or the mechanisms behind the functions of life, but once you learn and understand them, it's like... getting a completely new perspective on things. you understand life. it is how it is. i'm sorry it's hard to explain. maybe if you read lehninnger principles of biochemistry you'd get what i'm saying.
howls moving castle book was such a comfort book. i guess being a young girl is equivalent of no one understanding you. but god the book got me. me and sophie were the same back then. it just. spoke to me deeply and i didn't feel so alone.
the grandmaster of demonic cultivation aka the founder of diabolism aka mdzs with live action adaptation the untamed. aka the chinese gays im posting about. anyway it was such an emotional story with all the elements to balance it out, with enough things left open and with enough things solved i just. mwuah. moreover, i felt seen once again. back in highschool i had to make a public speech and i chose to speak about scapegoating. and i really tried to do my best, the teacher understood my point, but my classmates did not get what i was trying to say. so i just gave up on this idea on explaining scapegoating and that maybe i was making it a bigger issue than it actually was. but man. mdzs book came and told me i was right all along.
in the search of the castaways i remember reading when i was a preteen and i think it was a nudge in the direction of me becoming... adventurous? (i am not im like the most boring person) but in a sense of i love the sea, im ready to travel whenever, i want to go out and explore. this book together with lord of the rings, and i think there were a bunch of other books i read about journeys and so on, that made me wonder and started in me the want to explore. moreover, the language in the books weren't easy, i remember googling the names of ship parts and so on, so it also encouraged me to start doing my own little research and understand things. so yeah, overall steered me into science i guess? and also the reason i wanted to be an ecologist in highschool? lol good thing i did not
winnie the pooh is the first book i remember reading. i was a pre-school kid and i lived with my grandma and my mom only came home on weekends. and when she came home we read winnie the pooh before going to sleep. she always read first, but then got tired and asked me to read it. so i did. and i think it's how i learned to follow along text, listen and understand what's going on. anyway there were also pippi longstockings, karlsson on the roof, ronja the robbers daughter, emil of lonneberga, moomin - those were all my early childhood books that... probably did more to me than i know
